Exporting Events

I keep getting a message that "Startup Space is almost Full" and I should delete some files. I'd like to export my events to a remote hard drive to save space on the Mac. I can't figure out how to do this without first creating a project and then exporting. Is there a better/faster way? Thank you.

iMovie 08, right? (version 7.1.4)
This is slightly different for iMovie 09 (Version 8)
You need an external drive that is formatted as MacOS Extended (journaled). The drive can be attached via USB or Firewire.
Do all moves from iMovie, so you do not break your Projects.
Open iMovie. Click VIEW/EVENTS BY VOLUME.
You should see your drive in the Event Library List.
Drag the small icon for the Event to the small icon for the external drive in the Event Library List.
Repeat for all events.

How to export events in iPhoto onto ext HD into Event folders

I'm new to iMac and iPhoto. I've got a ton of photos loaded via iPhoto that I want to copy onto an external HD that will be accessed by both iMac and Windows PC. I've figured out how to copy iMac files to the external HD. I've tried to export events to the external HD using iPhoto and it creates individual files and does not put them into a folder with the event name. Is there a way to export event photos as a FOLDER using iPhoto onto the external HD? In other words, I want 25 pictures taken on 6/4/10 (event 6/4/2010) into a Folder on my external HD named 6/4/2010 (without having to make the folder on the external HD first). Is this possible with iPhoto?

I have unorganized photos saved to multiple hard drives. I need to organize them by date, event, etc., and get them saved to one location. I'm not interested in faces, and places. I have tried to open them off the different hard drives in the past, but it's a pain going back and forth and trying to see what the picture is at times.
It seems to me the best way is just to throw them all back in iPhoto to organize, but I'm concerned because there are about 7-8000 photos. It's a monster that keeps growing, and I need to get it organized. Maybe aperture or some other program might make it easier? I would love to know if anyone has been in this mess, and how they started.

It's built into the File Export function of iPhoto 9 (11). Select what every photos you want and use that option to put each photo in a folder with the Event title it came from as in this test of six randomly picked photos:

I would like to export a given calendar from iCal as a list to use as a diary for tax purposes. Is there any way to do this, or a utility that does it?

I just created a new Web Application and created a Team Site Collection and I created a calendar event. The functionality seemed to be there, without the use of jquery or any custom code.
I went to the users in question and they showed me a screenshot of "Other Calendars" but there was NO checkbox next to it or downward arrow stating that there is any associated list with it.
In Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 I went to Account Settings and SharePoint Lists was "emtpy" or "blank". I had to add the Calendar connection, which they weren't able to do, nor click on the Export Event and connect it back to Outlook.
Users were getting an error in IE and I wonder if it was trying to connect back to Outlook. This is from IE when I looked at the status bar at the bottom and double clicked on it.
Possibly because I had in v4.master masterpage:

Calendar Custom commands - Export Event is not properly exporting

Hi
I am using OOTB Calendar list and want to export the Events from Export Event button on Custom Command tab. It exports the data into .ics file but if there are any hyperlinks or HTML tags existing in the list data, it is not exporting the details properly.
What is the work around for this?

Based on your description, my understanding is that hyperlinks or HTML tags are not working when export the Events from calendar into .ics file.
I can't find Export Event button on Custom Command tab in my SharePoint 2010, how do you export the Events from calendar into .ics file.
I have done a test in my SharePoint 2010:
Go to an calendar list-> Connect to outlook, refer to the following screenshot:
The hyperlinks in the outlook is clickable, if I misunderstanding the issue, please offer a screenshot about your issue, I will better help you.

Exporting events has left me distorted

Hi can someone help me please, I had a new WDcloud which unfortunately due to network issues I can't back up over the ethernet, my problem is that I am manually exporting my iphoto events to the WDcloud which is great except the photos left in the event are distorted when I go back into iphoto can anyone help solve this irritating distortion please

Ok when I go back into the even the picture that I look at is distorted if I click on the photo it will open and appear normal, but when I go back to the event not just the one image it is distorted again, also when I export they are exporting distorted how to I get around all these distortions

Hi - I am running the 2011 version of Iphoto (version 9.2.3) off Snow Leopard and have had iphoto crash twice in the last year. The last time, I had to bring my data in to get recovered. Now, I'm trying to get save all my photo by event folders onto an EHD and use this method of photo organization until I upgrade my computer and software in the near future - likely LIghtroom or Aperture. I only use it to store and organize pics of my kids - I'm not great at computers so can someone walk me through how to export all my pics by event onto the EHD? I have about 150 events. I've tried searching and tried a few scripts others have provided but nothing seems to work...thanks in advance!!!

The option to export to a sub-folder structure comes with versions later than 9.2.3 (9.3 iirc). So you'll need to do it manually or Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
You need to keep your back up up-to-date.
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

Is there a way to move the photos that are in "events" to a folder on my desktop so I can move them to my macbook pro? Or an easier way to do this?
I just sorted and cleaned up over 4000 photos and I don't want to do it again

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Several Possibilities:
Is there also a Library on that MacBookPro?
If so, link the two machines together and use iPhoto Library Manager ro move pics/albums/events to the other library
If not, then simply copy the Library to the Pictures Folder on the MBP and launch iPhoto.
Also, just export the pics to a Folder (File -> Export) but note this will not preserve your Albums etc.

Export events from iPhoto '09 into iPhoto '11

I'm trying to take my photo library from '09 and put it into '11 on another computer. When I export all of my "Events" are gone. It places the photos into iPhoto but they aren't organized.
What am I missing?

iPhoto is a database program and to move the database contents you must move the database - the entire iPhoto library treated as a single entity (which it is) - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

While exporting event to hard drive i didn't change kind to original..

It was set to JPEG -Now all my movies are black--they show the correct length, when you hit play..black..nothing.. i have deleted some and now cant get to go back into iphoto 11 or play.. are they lost forever? Ideas?

Ok, sorry - While exporting several events in Iphoto 11 to an external hard drive that had jpeg and .mov files i went to file/export/--on the kind i didn't change from Jpeg to original - so my photos are good on the hard drive , but on the .mov files they show to play and have the correct minutes , but are black and do not show any of the movie. I have deleted some files in iphoto already, when i try to import them back into iphoto it says unsupported file format. ---on the .MOV files that are "black" on the hard drive and deleted from my iphoto, are they gone forever?

Export event from one cpu to another in final cut

I am trying to export an event from one computer with finalcut, to another computer with finalcut. I exported xml, and imported xml on the other computer. When the xml imports within finalcut on the second computer, the time stamps come along with a red image with yellow exlamation ! and says "no data". The event plays just find on machine #1 in final cut. What am I doing wrong?

Exporting Events from iPhoto

I just convinced my wife to switch from a PC to a mac.... Even though I have all of the pictures on my computer, there are several "events" that she would like to have as duplicates on hers.
I know that I can export them as individual pictures...but is there a way to export the pictures so that a) they are still part of an "event" and b) with all of the face recognition, location information that I spent countless hours trying to set up? Thanks...

Yes and No.
First of all: to export an Event full of photos:
Select all the pics in an Event (command - a) and then go File -> Export
In the resulting dialogue you can set the Kind: to Jpeg and then check the boxes at 'Titles and Keywords' and 'Location Information'
Then complete the export to a Folder on the desktop: Result a folder of images with the titles, descriptions, keywords and location information written to the metadata of the files.
Note: There is no way to share Faces information. There is simply no standard agreement on how this information could or should be shared. The alternative is to use the Faces as a way to keyword the photos.
Note also, this information is written to the metadata of the file. Therefore on her machine she will need an app that understands this material.

thisone - Thanks for your response, but unlike most events, this one does not have an edit button before the Event Details screen. In the top right hand corner next to the words 'Event Details' there is just an empty space.
This event is extremely pesky and I have repeatedly synced my phone in attempt to remove it. It was an invitation I accepted for a recurring weekly event, which was sent to an email address for my old job. That email address is no longer active and no longer existing on my phone, but this event continues to show up on my calendar every single Tuesday.
Help?

Aperture exports Events to iPad, iPhoto and iWeb with only first picture

I have an issue with publishing photos to iPad, iPhone and iWeb from Aperture. When I want to publish photos I do find list of all Events in the device like in Aperture Library but each Event contains just the first photo. The remaining photos are absent although I can find them among all the pictures in the Photo Browser. This indicates that the photos have been transferred to the device but for some reason not included in the Events.
In Aperture each Event opens with all the photos contained. Did I miss something in the setting of Aperture or the device?

This problem is still ongoing.... Having synced my entire library to my iPad, not having projects in date order is a real pain - and makes finding a certain project very tedious.
Does anyone have any kind of fix for this yet?

Export Event photos from iPhone

Hello,
so my MacBook was stolen, and fortunately I had all of my iPhoto photos synced to my iPhone. However, I need them in my PC, so I need to export the from iPhone. Does somebody know how to do that?

It would require 3rd party software to get them off the phone. Touchcopy is one that works on both the Windows and Mac platforms. It is available from Wide Angle Software.
