Exporting faces as meta data?

I just got married and wanted to use the faces feature to tag all the jpegs with the meta data. Is this possible? I can see their tagged in iPhoto but how to I get that information combined into the jpeg file?
For that matter, how do I get any of the keywords to be added as meta tags to the actual jpeg. It's a useless feature if it can only be done in iPhoto.

What a waste... and waste is stupid.
Maybe iPhoto shouldn't be a database.
You don't think it would be more valuable and powerful to have the program just update the EXIF data? The jpeg file format is built to house exactly this information.
Why should I want to export everything to a new set of files when updating to the exact same files takes up less space on my hard drive; less time to write/copy files; and less computer power to do it all? It's asinine and something I might expect from a PC, not a Mac.
And to hear you say that this makes perfect sense makes me wonder what I'm missing. How can it possibly make any sense to have to do all this just to update a file? *It's like having to duplicate your whole itunes library just because you changed the genre or artist.*
All I want is a master set of jpegs that when opened by any program that can read EXIF, will display the custom EXIF data I added. To have to duplicate my files in order to do this does not compute in my poor little meat brain. At all. One digital file, just update it - don't make me duplicate and delete things.

  • How to export images with meta data from iPhoto?

    Hi
I have about 4000 family photos which have been scanned and imported to iPhoto. They are all dated the same day, naturally. I'm now in the process of adding metadata to every photo: location, faces, time and year, file name and description.
Once I have gone through every photo, I will put them into albums based on events and the meta data above.
Eventually, I will want to share all these photos with people who should like to see them (and who are not tech savvy...) I'm looking for the best approach to do to this.
    1. Will all the metadata that I have added remain in the photos when I export them?
    2. What exactly is the best approach to export these 4000 photos?
              - As I have gone through all the hard work of sorting the photos in albums, is it possible to export these photos in the albums that they already in?
I hope to hear from someone out there. Thanks a lot
    Best wishes

You need to have an application like  EXIF Viewer for Mac OS X  to check the files once you've exported them with the various checkboxes checked:

  • Problems with Importing / Exporting Keywords and Meta Datas

    Hi to all!
I recently upgraded to Aperture 3 and upgraded my referenced library.
Today I opened the Keyword HUD and noticed some keywords splattered in my list, which seem to be any older ones, since the new numbering indicated that they are not applied to any pictures.
    So I deleted them.
Than I noticed the <Imported Keywords> folder, opened it, and it contained also a large number of previous keywords. Also they seemed not to be in use, so I also removed them.
Than I locked the Keyword HUD.
Now my question: If I export a version, with the option for 'include metadata' ticked, and edit the version than in Photoshop, and after it, import it back into the Aperture library I do have the problem.
I have tried 'Import Meta Datas' and and click 'Append'. Than it is recognizing the former keywords, which I would appreciate, but not as 'Imported Keywords'.
If I would open the file w/ the External Editor and return it back, I guess I would not have this problem. Usually I do open the referenced RAW file, and import than the edited version back into Aperture. Keywords are stored in the Library, so I would not avail the former given keywords than, is that right?
By the way are the keywords part of Meta Datas or not?
    Are there any workarounds?
And had other people also problems with their keyword list after upgrading?
Thank for any ideas / infos!

  • Exporting package meta data

    Hi all,
I would like to export all the meta data of a package (such as database table names and structure, dataelements, reports, function groups, etc.) into a text file. I could not find an export functionality in the se80. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Meta data not included upon export - Please confirm

Hello everyone. I'm looking to confirm with several people the following:
After updating to the most recent version of Aperture and Tiger (Leopard is not tame enough yet), exported images do not include meta data (yes, I know how to click the little box that says include meta data so please understand in advance that isn't the solution).
I'm looking for several people to confirm this is happening to them too. Kinda a bummer to have done all the key-wording & meta data work only to have exported images void of anything. Previous version of Aperture exported meta data just fine: I have one folder here full of images I just processed (no meta data) and one folder full of images processed 7 weeks ago (has meta data).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christopher David

Your problem and description gave me the first clue about the little box that needs to be checked, but where to find that little box. I'm adding my resolution here because your title most closely matched my problem. Maybe someone searching in the future needs to know how to find the box to check and won't have to search any farther with this explanation. I hope you've solved your problem too.
I searched and posted in several forums before calling Apple Support today. I've discovered the problem with that tech person's guidance. If anyone else faces this dilemma, check your settings here:
Aperture > File > Export Versions
Then you get a pop up box with some drop down menus. The top drop down box has 'Edit' at the bottom of its list. Go into there. You'll have several preferences to choose from (file type, dimensions, quality, etc) and there's a tiny box that accidently got unchecked which says something like: Include Metadata.
I can't check it for exact wording because I'm merrily re-exporting right now - Metadata intact!
Apparently there's an even quicker path to fix this:
Aperture > Presets > Image Export
I can't check this either because exporting doesn't go to the background and I have a bunch of photos to resend now that it's working OK!

  • Can you export whole folders with meta data in tact

Can you export folders or groups of photos including all the meta data eg keywords, gps etc to a new folder?
I then could copy these to my xbox for viewing for example?
    cheers

managed to have a bit mess, you can actually highlight an event, album, places, faces etc in the source list, the choose file > export and it does all included in that folder/album/source, rather than highlighting them individually.
The reason for wanting to do this, is I want to be able to export to some kind of structure outside of iPhoto for my Windows PC, Xbox etc for showing, but want all the keywords, GPS, meta data on

  • Import Meta Data from CSV - Export Meta Data to CSV

Ability to import meta data into selected images from CSV file containing a number of fields, one of which is file name. The other fields would be selected tags to import.
Import logic would be, Where file name in column 1 matches current selected filename, then take following fields 2, 3, etc and import into Bridge.
Export selected meta data from selected files to CSV to form reverse of above to allow edit of data in Excel etc.
Further enchancement on import would be to allow instead of just filename, but date/time range matching.
Logic would be, Where date/time in column 1 is within X hours of selected
image creation date/time then import following fields into image meta data.
Useful for example if you already have a GPS tracklog in CSV and want to try and update images with GPS. Assuming camera clock approx same as GPS clock.

The issue was within the .csv file.  There were duplicate records that were attempting to load as the ID value.  After deleting the duplicate records, the transformation file ran successfully.

  • Exporting Versions to image with meta data

Hey folks, I'm looking to find an Aperture Plugin that will export processed images (versions) with all its associated meta data in XML format.
I intend to use this exported data in a custom application - I've seen export plugins to Picasa, and others, but so far they just seem to handle the images alone.
Can anyone suggest a location to where I might find such a beast? (or is anyone in development of this? - I'm very surprised it isn't included as a built-in feature.
    Thanks in advance,

Has anyone had success with Ubermind's Aperture to FileMaker?
I've had it work once or twice, but usually, despite rigorously following their apparently simple instructions, Aperture refuses to recognize the database.
Would be pleased to know if there's something they haven't been clear about in their instructions.

  • Can Meta data be exported to a text file

Hello, Is there a way in Bridge (CS4) to export meta data from a group of photos (>100) to a text file? I want to track meta data from all my photos using a database program. I do not need the actual photos in the file, just the meta data so I can search it. Any input would be appreciated. thanks, Skip

  • Batch change does not change meta data name when exporting or copy

I use batch change to change the name of an event when photos from more than one source (camera) are imported. When I copy or export the photos the name reverts to the original meta data file. I do this to override duplicate names. For instance photos from two cameras taking pictures of the same event can have identical names such as IMG_0100. Iphoto does not show all the metadata on info but does show the change in the name when viewing info in iphoto.
Is there some way to permanently change the name on photos using a group or batch method?

No you're not changing any filenames at all.
There is no way to change a filename in iPhoto at all. What you with Batch Change is add a Title to the photo. A Title is an entry in the metadata.
You can set the name of an exported file to be the same as the title, when you export... if you choose that option.

  • Does Pr embed any meta data into the finished (exported) files?

I'm worried that it embeds my name, username or something like that into the finished movie files intended for distribution/playback. Is this the case?
If not, does it embed any kind of meta data? Perhaps that it was made with Premiere? Photoshop seems to add that to every file.

Many formats do not support MetaData, so depending on your chosen format, it is probably not even possible. Then, even where it is, such as WMV's and DRM, PrPro will not do that without direct input from you, and might not even be able to do that, if you wished.
    Good luck,

  • What is the best way to edit meta data..

What is the best way to edit meta data and tag photos, faces, places etc. and have the data saved to the original photo.
On a PC I would just use Windows Gallery. iPhoto on the Mac allows for some tagging, but it doesn't save to the original file.
I like to have my photos in a folder, edit them and save the changes.
What software would work best on a MAC to accomplish this?
    Thanks for any help,
    Nick

iPhoto is a database and any metadata you add or edit is available in any app - if you learn how to use it.
iPhoto is a non-destructive processor. It never touches the original file - it treats it like a film shooter treats the negative.
If you want a copy of the original file with the metadata included simply export a copy.

How i know the jdbc driver not compatible to this
mechanismBy reading the documentation tthat comes with your driver. Recent versions of the MySQL JDBC driver do support the getExportedKeys/ImportegKeys methods but the table needs to be crated as InnoDB.
    So run the SQL command
show table statusWhats under the Type column for your table? If it isn't InnoDB then this isn't going to work.
If it is InnoDB but getExportedKeys/ImportegKeys still don't work then you haven't used the "foreign key" constraint in your "create table" command
