Exporting fails in compressor 4.1 and fcpx 10.1

Ok I have a bunch of projects that I brought into Compressor using "Send to Compressor" command in fcpx.  Using the m2v/ac3 preset for DVD in Compressor on a batch, audio exported fine, video failed.
I tried just doing a DVD as well as the compressor preset for m2v/ac3 in FCPX share menu both options failed.  When I click details it says "com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1"  I tried deleting preference files and re-installing the apps still have the same error.
All of this worked prior to going to 10.1

Not sure what to suggest except that I agree it's a communication problem between the two apps. And judging by the fact that you got one of the libraries to work, I would say the problem is on the FCP end of things.
In my case, I've run into some flaky behavior – but nothing so far that I couldn't resolve by trashing preferences and/or running Compressor Repair. (CR comes up with an incompatible version warning, but then seems to do useful things.) And I brought some of that flakiness on myself by experimenting with past versions and moving the app around. FCP, itself, has been remarkably predictable…and fast. And I also have some of the FCS installed, and as in previous versions, they all seem to coexist OK.
Do you still have your events and projects so that perhaps you could hide some and limit the libraries' size?

  • Elgato turbo.264 export fails in Compressor as a QuickTime Component

I would like to know if any user of Compressor 3 and elgato turbo.264 hardware accelerator has had succes in using the device as a QuickTime export component within Compressor.
I setup a few export settings but the Batch Monitor reports "3x encoder type unavailable".

You should report this to Elgato on their support site if you have not already. Add a trouble ticket here: http://support.elgato.com/

  • General Error; failed to render the timeline and failed to export HD mpg2

I have searched for the posts if there is same issue I'm having on the forum, and it seems it's similar yet not really...
So I decided to post one.
I have 2100 sequential frames in jpgs. (each jpg size is 1280x720)
I open "image sequence" in QT 7.04 with 29.97 fps, then save it as MOV in external HD with firewire.
Then I import it into FCP 5.04 on Timeline.
    Timeline setting is
    Frame Size : 1280x720 HDTV 720P (16:9)
Pixel Aspect Ratio : Square uncheck Anamorphic 16:9
    Filed Dominance : None
    Editing Timebase : 29.97
Quick time Vieo Setting : Compressor -DVCPRO HD 720P60 Quality 100%
After I place the mov file on the timeline, the Red Bar shows up.
I tried to render the timeline, it will only try to render to 3% and stop, and "general error" pops up.
I tried to use Compressor 2.01 with HD mpg2 preset to export out as HD mpg2 format, and it will fail to export.
After I read several posts on here, I was wondering I might have corrupted mov...
I re-create MOV file from QT and import in FCP5 and do the same... but I still get the same error...
I tried to re-start computer and tried, no luck..
Then I was wondering maybe some of the jpgs is corrupted...
I'm not sure how to check which jpg file is corrputed since there is 2100 frames in directory.
It is able to show all jpgs as thumbnail images..
    So my questions here.. are...
If I do anything wrong during the step?
If not... what's wrong? why i can't render the timeline, and why i can't export to HD?
Or if there is a "way" to figure out what file is corrupted..?
This is not first time I have the same problem, I even tried to test out with 10,000 jpgs frames and create mov ... and import in FCP5..etc...
I had no problem with render and export... so I don't think it's the "HD length" issue...
If anyone have the same issue or know what's wrong... please help!!!
    Thank you,

I downloaded iview Media pro free trial version to catalog the image to see if there is any corrupted jpgs.
Unfortunately, it didn't find any corrupted jpgs.
I also tried to change the sequence setting, under "QuickTime Video Setting" from "DVCPRO HD 720p60" to "HDV 720p30" (since I found out the frame size for DVCPRO HD 720p60 is 960x720 with 59.99 fps).
The result I get after I placed mov on timeline, it used to give red bar, it gave me orange bar... which made me be able to render the timeline without problem.
However, Compressor still is not able to export HD mpg2.
Then I changed QuickTime Video Setting from HDV 720p30 to "photo-jpg", the bar is now grey, but still not able to export to HD mpg2.
    now I don't really don't know what's going on.
anyone can suggest me what else I can try and see...??

  • FCE and Exporting to QT Compressor grayed out

i have finished my first video. it is all rendered. solid blue line throughout.
i go to export, but the “Compressor” is grayed out.
in the lydna.com video i was watching, the instructor choose a ratio of 4:3.
i thought that is what i choose, but i can’t find it in the FCE browser. so, i think
that is my problem. i don’t know how to invoke (?) the 4:3 (or the 16:9 for that matter) ratio.
i hope it is not too late.
i want to save it as mpeg4-800.
    thank you,
    doug yelmen

I have FCE 3.5 HD. I bought Motion 2 separately when it was an option, Compressor 2 came with the Motion package. I can export to Compressor 2 as well as roundtrip with Motion from FCE export. You can still find Motion or Motion 2 on Ebay as a separate app. Someday, when sales slide, Apple may release separate app. packages again. Until then After Effects CS3, which is the industry work horse, has a pretty good render module. Oh and you can buy that separately too!

  • Export fails and error 27 shows.

Trying to export to flash drive with enough memory. The flash drives begins to blink and the rendering display begins to count but the export fails and error 27 shows.  What is this?

What do you mean by flash drive? A usb "pen" drive? Don't do this. Export to the hard drive and then copy the file.

  • MPEG2 Export failed

    Hi all,
i´m running in problems generating MPEG2 (m2v) with compressor.
That´s what i´m usually doing (worked 100 times before, last time 28.03.2008):
I´m rendering out a video MJPEG A PAL from AfterEffects.
Then I´m using a Compressor Droplet to generate a approval Version for my clients (QT Sor3 halfres) and a MPEG2 file as final delivery.
But now the MPEG2 Export fails. Find the error report at the end of this thread.
I tried it with the last files when it worked, also failed.
I tried another MPEG2 Preset (the apple ones) -> failed.
Playing MPEG2 Files using QT-Player and VLC works fine.
    Any help highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chris

The source frame rate is 23.976, so I guess I would go with 24p. My intention is to upload the file to a streaming video website. They have their specs laid out for me, I just happen to be new to all of this so I am having a tough time meeting them.
My question right now is, if i have selected the MXF OP1a XDCAM option with XDCAM 50 NTSC (4:2:2) video codec, will the export be in mpeg2 and what will my bit rate be? I have no way of viewing the bit rate with this configuration.
Here is a screen grab of their required specs:

  • FCP 6 sequence fails in Compressor 3

I have a 60 minute project comprising three 20 minute sequences. They are of mixed media clips (TIFFs, H.264, DV, etc). I'm exporting each to Compressor.
Sequences 1 and 3 are compressed just fine. But Sequence 2 fails again and again, even after trashing preferences, restarting, etc. There is no explanation other than 'failed', which is of no use. Any suggestions as to how I can work out why one sequence just will not work?

If you are editing in on a timeline with a codec  that is equal or better in quality than your source material, you will not see any quality loss when you export a QuickTime movie in the sequence codec, and then use that file in Compressor.
A usual workflow is to edit in FCP-7, then export a master file of the finished edit, and then take that master file into Compressor to create your deliverables.
H.264 is not an edit friendly codec in FCP, the fact that you have had success is a function of luck. H.264 files should be converted to an edit friendly codec prior to ingest in FCP. Problems with H.264 files show up in all kinds of unexpected ways. If you check this forum, you'll find countless posts on this subject.
This, however, may not be your problem. Exporting the Sequence as a QuickTime is another way to test the integrity of the sequence - if you have a successful export, then you know the sequence is not problem and the media itself, when presented as source files to Compressor, is.

  • FCP X: Can I export .wmv using Compressor without Flip4mac

Hi all, I need to export a movie as a .wmv and can't purchase the full version of Flip4mac. I do have Compressor 4.0.7 though. Is there a way I can export the file as a .wmv using only Compressor? I have exported the movie as an mp4 and it is 464.4MB. All the free online converters say the file is too big to convert unless I purchase the option to. I am fairly new to all of this so I appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

If you have Flip4Mac you can make a preset in Compressor. Then you can export using that directly from FCPX, but yes, you need Flip4Mac.

  • Export Failed. (-50)

I am trying to use Quicktime 7.3.1 to export a .mov file to an mpeg2 file. I've done this multiple times using the same method. However, this time, and I've restarted my computer to see what that did, but this time it went all the way through the export process and then stated "export failed. (-50)" right at the end at 99%. Right now I am trying to change the name of the output file to see if that helps. Any other ideas?

QuickTime Pro no longer exports to MPEG-2 format. Older versions of DVD Studio Pro did add that export option but it has been removed in favor of the new Compressor app.

  • Export Failed: error - 108??

    Hi All,

    Any ideas for resolution??
Will try and split clip in half and export!
    Cheers Ryan

Are you really running OS 10.5? 10.6.8 is supposed to be the minimum.
EditCodes explanation for the 108 error is the application has run out of memory.
4 GB is not very much RAM for FCPX.

  • MPEG-2 Fails in Compressor

I have searched the forums long and hard and have been unable to find anything regarding this problem. I am creating a short 2 minute HD video that involves exported (QT - Animation 1920x1080) motion files and still images (I have tried TIF, PSD and even JPEG) and Cross Dissolves. Nothing more. I have been making similar projects involving the same material just different content for about 6 months now with no problems. But now I am having a consistent problem and constant failure when exporting.
My Sequence settings are Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920 x 1080 29.97 fps with Square Pixel Aspect. Everything renders wonderfully and exports wonderfully using any other format but the MPEG-2 Program Stream in Compressor. Unfortunately this is the format I need for our video productions playback for HD material. I'm almost positive the problem is within Final Cut because I have even tried exporting as a stand alone QT File and dragging into Compressor. I have even tried using MPEG Streamclip to convert my exported QT File to many different formats before using Compressor to do the MPEG-2 conversion. Every time in Compressor it says it failed with the log error 3x crash service down: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <services></services>
Any insight on to what is occurring would be helpful, its just so weird that it only has this fail log when I convert it to MPEG-2 Program Stream. I am already exploring other formats that may work with our video production team.

Has the trial for After Effects CC expired?
You are allowed to launch After Effects CC one time after the 30-day trial period has expired, but when you do so a a bug exists in this state: MPEG2 files can not be read or written.
The only solution for this bug is to license After Effects CC; ex. purchase a subscription. My apologies for the problems you're having with the payment system. As Rick says, please contact customer support for help with this.

  • Final Cut Pro X Export Fails

There's this project. When I open it it looks like below. I have to double click on the thin line to see the timeline. Anyone know if this is normal and how to fix?
But there's a bigger issue. See pic nr 2. The timeline is shaded (diagonal stripes). What does this indicate? Exports fail. When I export it only saves the first frame of the movie in a .mov file. The export process dialog finishes immediately (less than a second). There are no errors reported, and nothing in console.log.
Previewing in fcpx itself works fine. Other projects export OK.
Anyone know what the cause might be?
    Thx,
    Wesley

    Wesley,
It looks to me like you have a compound clip (first picture) in your timeline that has been edited down to 1 frame. when you double click the clip it opens up the compound editor and you see video, audio, transitions, and connected storylines with gray horizontal lines "graying them out" (second picture). Do what Tom has suggested and then place your selection tool over either end of the clip to drag out the edit point to reveal all the hidden content of the compound clip. Once you have done this you can double click the clip again and will see all the content in the compound editor will no longer be "grayed out".
    I hope this helps!

  • Exporting 1980x1080 to Compressor

Any suggestions on how to keep the 1980x1080 (16:9) format from FCPX through Compressor?  I find that when I "SHARE" a project from FCPX by exporting the media and changing nothing it renders it into the Apple ProRes 422 and maintains  the 1980x1080.  I can then drop that into iDVD and it maintains the widescreen format without squishing the video.  When I send it to compressor to add the chapter markers I can't find a way to keep the 1980x1080.  It seems that all the formats are 1440x1080 by default.
I've used the 1980x1080 directly into iDVD before and it worked.  I didn't go through Compressor 4 but rather just used the "SHARE" a project by exporting it into the "current settings" and then dropping it into a iDVD project.  Again... the problem with this project is that I want to add chapter markers.  Something I can't do in FCPX ().
My final goal is to be able to use the video in iDVD in the widescreen format and also use chapter markers.  I think the only way I can add chapter markers is though Compressor 4.
I'm open to whatever works to achieve that.
    THANKS!
I'm using a MacBook Pro (10.7.1) with the latest version of FCPX and Compressor 4 (also the latest version).

150pilot, not sure where things have gone wrong for you. Compressor shouldn't be modifying the frame size unless you've manually changed or adjusted them.
With FCP X you have 2x options, either export your project as a ProRes 422 file, or as your aware send your project directly to compressor.
"Personally" I found sending your project directly to compressor to be a little buggy, therefore I (for the time been) just export my project as a QuickTime file (ProRes422), then import that into compressor, add my markers and transcode.
I don't use iDVD so i can't be sure what formats it accepts, however the approach I'd suggest is as follows.
    1. Start by exporting your project from FCP X by choosing Share, Export Media, and export it to a ProRes 422 file.
    2. Open Compressor and import the ProRes 422 file.
    3. Add your marker in the viewer window
    4. In the preset window, type in the search bar ProRes 422, and drag/drop the Apple ProRes 422 preset
The reason i'm telling you to drop the ProRes preset is that you keep the whole process uniformed, and allow iDVD to take care of your downscaling and conforming the ProRes file to MPEG-2, which is whats needed to make a DVD
    5. Finally click on submit, when done you should have a final ProRes 422 file with embedded markers.
Now import you final ProRes file into iDVD, and let iDVD take care of the MPEG-2 transcoding.
    Hope that makes sense :)

  • After upgrading to Mavericks Compressor 4 crashes in FCPX

After upgrading to Mavericks, Compressor 4 crashes in FCPCX, I can't share projects

    It shows this:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)
I had reinstall compressor and FCPX with no results...
