Exporting FCE mov file into .flv

Quick question: I exported out of Final Cut Express on my MacBook Pro a .mov file using the "Quick Time Movie" option. Then, I pulled it into Mpeg Streamclip to transform it into an .flv (the only option our newspaper web system allows for videos). This is a straight-up talking head video interview that's part of a police brutality series and it recounts a lawyer's tale of being beaten by state police and the lwasuit that resulted, so it goes on for 12 minutes. But the file is taking forever to translate - it has been an hour and is not even halfway - even though the frames per second is set at 15 for the .flv (our usual setting in order to keep file sizes down). Have I missed something? Is it because of the 12-minute length (and yes, I know we should keep videos to under 3 min., but this is a special case). I have done this conversion from longer file to .flv before, but usually on a PC, transferring the file out as an .avi with Premium Elements then using the Adobe Flash Media Encoder to make the .flv.
Douglas

I do not. But the just-finished .flv fails anyway to open and asks that Perrian be installed. But just for the record, if you go to 'export to other formats' or 'export to quicktime movie' in MPEG and then click on the 'Formats' option in the window that pops up it does list a Flash Video (flv) option. But I obviously have misunderstood this process. Thanks for all the help.

  • Trouble exporting any mov files into H264 after adding K-Lite codec pack into Windows XP SP3.

I have QuickTime 7.7 (1680.34) installed. I have used it extensively and exported the video separate from the audio and extracted and used filters and it has all worked great with all of the other codecs I have had installed. It even worked great after I recently installed this K-Lite codec pack that actually saved files in a *.hdmov file type and I was able to view them with the Media Player Classic .... (I have Windows XP update 3)  and see what I could do over there and then go back to saving them as *.mov file types and work in QuickTime Pro. And still export them relatively fast to their latest H264 format.
I gave more file types to the Media Player Classic. I think along the line of the just the *.3g2 and *.mp4 and took them away from QuickTime but still keeping the *.mov, *.qt and *.mqv  file types .... and that is when I think everything must have changed.  all of a sudden I can not save any *.hdmov files and the export process in QuickTime takes longer than forever.
I thought that I had reconfigured Media Player Classic back to its default ....
and it should all go back to being how it was.
Is there some Direct Show filter or codec that upsets QuickTime Pro ... that I might have not reset back to what it was?
Any codec help would be much appreciated.
This is what the K-Lite site says in one instance about H264:
If the video that you are playing contains H.264 video, then you could try using another decoder. The codec pack by default uses ffdshow for decoding H.264 video. This is a free and open-source decoder. Other decoders exist that have better performance as ffdshow. They should give you smoother playback, specially if you have a dual-core or quad-core processor.
    Alternative H.264 decoders are:
CoreAVC. This decoder is unfortunately not available for free.
DivX H.264 decoder. This decoder is available for free as part of the DivX Bundle. Tip: disable everything in the bundle except the H.264 decoder.
ffmpeg-mt. This is an experimental multi-threaded version of the libavcodec decoding library, which is used by ffdshow. You can select ffmpeg-mt as decoder in ffdshow video decoder configuration.
MPC DXVA H.264 decoder. This is an internal decoder of Media Player Classic Homecinema. It uses your graphics card to perform most of the decoding process, resulting is a very low CPU usage. You can enable this decoder though: MPC Options -> Internal Filters. Note: this decoder has some specific requirements.
I downloaded the DivX bundle and will pull out that codec. I bought the CoreAVC for $13 but Norton said it was a risky file when I downloaded it ... (I have a question into the site about that) and I will try the ffmpeg-mt codec as well as see what they say about the last one. I will also try to undo everything I did that happened I guess before QuickTime started to export so slow that it is not even worth it to try and convert a mov file into H264.
Sorry so long ... I just was trying to lay out the things I have attempted, will attempt to try and improve the situation.
Thanks again very much if anyone makes it thru this ... geez .. sorry.

    Hello Tim,
I decided to do a clean install, a fresh new installation of windows and all its updates, I didn't get the option of
    install SP1 yet.
After that I only installed Catalyst drivers: 11.5 and Realtek HD audio drivers, all downloaded on May 24 2011.
Then latest FFDShow and MPC-HC to test, both x64 versions Nothing else installed.
Only a fresh copy of windows with its updates and those mentioned drivers.
To my surprise, it happened a gain.
It still crashes after a while when playing MKV videos.
It's weird, because it doesn't happen with avi's or mp4's.
So, there must be something wrong with one of windows updates that creates this windows FREEZE.
Also there is no possibility to find out what error it is in "Event Viewer" as nothing gets recorded there. Anyone could
    advise?
    Thanks

  • Is there any easier way to edit imovie files that have been exported as mov file then added to FCE 4?? As every move I make has to be rendered and takes forever??? Also my recording is going out of focus without me touching the camera, why has this happen

Is there any easier way to edit imovie files that have been exported as mov file then added to FCE 4?? As every move I make has to be rendered and takes forever??? Also my recording is going out of focus without me touching the camera, why has this happened any idea what causes this??
    iMovie '08, Mac OS X (10.5.8), FCE 4

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Is a 2 minute exported avchd mov file supposed to be 1 gb?

Is a 2 minute exported avchd mov file supposed to be as large as 1gb? There aren't even any edits or changes done to the original video! What am I doing wrong?
I'm using Quicktime Conversion; Compression H.264. How do you get these files into the low double digits (i.e. 40 mb) for the web?
    Any help would be terrific

Import your video into Compressor, open Apple Devices and choose HD for Apple Devices (5Mbps) if it is HD or SD for Apple Devices if it is standard def.
The HD setting will give files of around 40MB per minute and the SD will give around 15MB per minute.
You don't want anything less or the quality will begin to suffer.

  • FCP Splits QT movie file into several files... problem and solution.

    Hi All,
I was having problems exporting a QT movie (Video Only) of a 20 min Reel within a Feature Film I edited. The Database was quite large - the film was 2Hrs and Footage was about 12X.
FCP would split the QT movie file into several files - only one of which was openable (either in FCP or the QT player). To my surprise, I also found that even though the file opened fine, I would get an error message when trying to copy it or its associated files over to another HD (Tiger would abort, after giving me an error No. and saying that there was an error while copying). The problem was repeatable and specific to this sequence.
After some testing, I found that copying the clips (Video Only) to another sequence and re-exporting, seemed to solve the problem. My take on this is that too many ( > 12? ) Audio tracks causes problems in FCP when the database is large.
But I do need these additional tracks. Any work arounds?
    Thanks,
    RD

First, look in System Settings, and see if you've checked the box to limit file size to 2GB. Uncheck that box. See if that helps.
Or it could just be a corrupt project causing the problem.

  • Dynamically importing a .mov file into flash

    Hi,
I need to import a .mov file into a flash file and create a

I want to make it dynamic and import the movie. I would like to use

You can only dynamically load at runtime FLV movies.
You can automate the authoring time environment but this is
only with the Authoring tool. See

  • Can't import mov files into Final Cut Pro

I can't seem to import some .mov files into FCP.  The codecs showing in "info" for the files are DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, Linear PCM, Timecode.  I have other files which I can import into FCP and they show the exact same codecs in their info page.  I have no trouble opening either in Quicktime.

What is the origin of these files?  You may want to use QT or Compressor to re-encode them to the same codec.  Possbily they are very old QT versions.  But yes, where did they originate from?

  • Cannot import a .mov file into the library

I am trying to import a .mov file into my library so I can
create a .fla file. Every time I try to import it into the library
using the import wizard, it starts the importing process and always
quits not quite two minutes into the process. It then returns me to
the front page of the import wizard. I have done this before with
    absolutely no problems.
The one thing that I am wondering about is the size of this
particular .mov file. It is 377MB. Do you think this may be part of
my problem? Thank you in advance for anyone's input or
    suggestions!

I would consider 10mb to be too big for a flash file. Even if
    it was CD
I would load it dynamically to avoid performance problem.
377mb is out of the question way beyond flash ability to
    maintain stable
performance, not just the final output but the IDE itself.

  • Can`t movies files into iTunes

    Hi,
I am trying to move movies files into the iTunes library by dragging them and without success.
I have tried to add the files with the file menu with the same results.
    Using iTunes 10.5
Can anyone help me with this?
    thanks,

Itunes only accepts MP4, M4V and MOV formats.  You will have to get a third party Video converter to convert AVI to Apple format.

  • I can't drag .mov files into an iMessage as I could earlier

Used to, I could drag a movie file into iMessage and send it to my friends quite easily. It was the most convenient way to send content and raw footage to schoolmates for projects and what not, but now when I do this it doesn't add any footage, but instead a blank line?  I really need to be able to send videos this way as my class almost requires us to share content.

I've seen where you've helped a lot of people and hopefully you can help me as I'm stumped. I have a Canon Vixia HFS200 and having trouble getting some movie clips to import from SD card. In the past, if a 'still' pic is taken on the same card, iMovie won't recognize anything as being importable. If I deleted the photos, I was able to import without a problem but this time, there are no stills on the card but still doesn't recognize anything importable, even though there are 140 or so .MTS files.
I've tried a conversion software that I was able to view them but had the company logo over the top. I wasn't sure if there was a way to manually or 'force' them to import? Appreciate any suggestions.

  • Wrapping .mov files into swf

    Hey everybody-
Does anyone know how to wrap a .mov file into a swf?
    I appreciate your time.

The video file itself will be deployed to a server, so when I go through the 'import video' process, I have to reference it by source (http://example/example.mov).
When I just test it locally, with the video located on my local machine, it works.  But when I try to refer it, it doesn't work.
Sorry if I'm making this confusing.

  • Break .mov file into multiple jpeg files

    Hello all,
I've already put together a program that jams multiple jpegs into a .mov file, but is it possible to do the same thing in reverse?
I have a .mov file captured from a camera. I need to decompose it into a ton of jpegs.
the purpose is that I have a real-world video file of an event occuring. I have a computer simulation of the same event. I want to overlay the two into a single video.
My basic plan was to decompose the real-world .mov file into jpegs, then take each individual jpeg and draw my simulation stuff on top of it. Then I would combine it all back together into a movie again.
Another possibility...somehow use processors? I'm not sure how to do all that and I think this solution is simpler if I can somehow figure out how to split the file.
    Thanks for you input.

captfoss...how did you ever become so knowledgeable? Is it your job to answer these forums?
I'm just very impressed, is all.About a year ago, I thought up the idea of creating a web site where musicians / music fans could go, create a chatroom, and pay music for people live over the net. Through the course of research, I found out that the only 2 ways of doing an application like that were JMF or Adobe Flex/Flash... Seeing as how I'm a Java coder by profession (and hate Flash applications), the choice of which to go with was easy...
And then I realized that JMF is, on the surface, quite complicated and while these Sun forums are full of experts on just about everything else, there weren't really any JMF experts. So I sat down, went through the JMF example code peice by peice, wrote out the components, figured out what each one did, and I wrote my application from scratch. I wanted to make sure I understood my app, of course, and wasn't just throwing out something "that worked" because, well, all those years of college told me that's a bad plan.
Anyway, I figured out the nuts and bolts of my project, and then just started trying to answer the questions on this forum that were going unanswered...and that's how I become so knowledgable, because with something like JMF, whenever you work with someone, a lot of times you learn nearly as much as they do.
Plus, I most just like helping people and JMF had a giant opening for a resident expert...
    :-)
