Exporting fcp secquence to mpeg2 w/-compressor

Final cut studio with compressor 2, I have reinstaled and tried many ways to get my project exported. At this point compressor says " cannot connect to background process" and no where to go from there. Alternately I tried a quick time conversion to mpeg2 an when I submit that It unrenders my sequence and tells me the sequence must be rendered befor export witch when i go from there the secquence is rendered.

FCP HD 4.5 worked fine with Panther. After installing Tiger I tried export with quick time conversion to mpeg2, two-pass VBR (as usual) and I always get the message "The movie must be rendered before encoding".
Any suggestions will be appreciated..

  • Export fcp 5 to compressor, bye-bye chapter markers

If I'm reading the manuals and the pro training books right, the only way to export chapter markers from FCP 5 is to a QT movie. That kinda stinks a little.
Would a workaround be to export to QT and then run compressor as stand-alone? Seems like an extra step, more time and a possiblity of introducing artifacts from all of the handling.
I also tried to export markers as text file. DVD SP can import a chapter marker text file.
My original plan was to create the chapter markers in Compressor so I would get exact i-frame placement, but what a royal pain! At least in FCP you can bang through them with keyboard shortcuts.

How much space is left on that external drive? As to the rez of your timeline, pick the sequence, and select Command-0 (that's a zero). The dialogue box will tell you what codec you're working with.
Without knowing anything else, you will definitely experience better performance by exporting to a different drive than your media is on - that drive is being asked to both read and write at the same time, which slows it down considerably. If you can export it to a different drive, you can expect to see your export time cut perhaps in half.
However, six hours is still way too long. There's some other problem going on here, it may be the drive being too full or perhaps the rez of your sequence is really high.

  • FCP won't run with Compressor open

I have FCP 6 and the latest Compressor.
I had no problem exporting my current file through compressor in the past. But, now, out of the blue, when I export the file to compressor, the color wheel instantly appears in FCP and the program will not respond. I can still work within compressor, but when I submit the job, it fails to start.
At that point, I can only cancel the job and try to quit compressor, but it hangs and won't close. So I have to force quit.
And then, as soon as compressor is closed, the color wheel on FCP disappears and everything is fine, like it never happened...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Actually, the color wheel doesn't start in FCP until I submit my file in compressor.

  • Exporting FCP Video to Youtube Sub-Channel

I want to export my FCP project to my youtube main channel but it got uploaded to my gmail youtube account instead.
I already uploaded over 20 videos on my main youtube account through Final Cut Pro but this is the first time it happened where it got sent to my Gmail youtube channel.
To get a better illustration, I sent a screenshot link:
    http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx166/tobywchu/Screen%20Shot%202015-02-02%20a t%205.00.53%20PM.png
As you can see, I have 143 subs on my main youtube account so you know why I do not want the video to be uploaded  here on my gmail account with no subs or any content at all.
I also tried sending the project to compressor but I keep getting a quicktime error 2045. I also don't know what that is because this is also the first time I got the error. I had no problem compressing all my FCP projects in the past.
I was hoping if anyone can help me with this. Thank you!

I found out that exporting FCP to a different channel under the same gmail account was something you can adjust on youtube, apparently the problem wasn't on FCP to begin with.
However, for the failed compressor export, I haven't found a fix yet mainly because the forums have a different problem: plug-ins. Which I don't have.
The only additional detail I can give is that I deleted all my FCP events and projects back in Jan 1 to start fresh. I just recently added a brand new event folder so I'm not sure if that's the root of the problem. Did FCP reset something to trigger that quicktime error 2045 problem that keeps on occurring?

  • How do I export FCP movie to a WMV format (Windows Media Player friendly)?

I am puzzled. How can I export FCP movie to a WMV format or Windows Media Player friendly?
    Thanks in advance.

You need a third party app to do this... AVI is the only format that you can export from FCP that's windows media friendly... WMF's can be exported with flip4mac... http://www.flip4mac.com Probably the best of the apps...

  • Trying to export video in mpeg 2 but compressor doesn't come up in the export drop down window. Any ideas?

trying to export video in mpeg 2 but compressor doesn't come up in the export drop down window. Any ideas?

Export the file using "Current Settings" and enable "self contained".
Once the export is complete, open up Compressor, drop in your file, select the desired output settings and turn Compressor loose. If you have set up a Quick Cluster and have a multi core Mac, Compressor will use all available cores. It will be a faster process.

  • Problems exporting and playback the MPEG2-DVD videos, from .MP4 file!

I have PremiereProCS4 v.4.2.1 installed on this PC:
    OS:WindowsXPProx64Bit; CPU:IntelCore2Quad Q9650; RAM:4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 Kingston; HDD:3x500GB WestrnDigital Caviar Green; VGA: Sparkle GeForce 9400GT 512MB.
I have downloaded an AVCHD file .MTS 1920x1080p 25p, made by Canon HF100 AVCHD camcorder, from this source (.rar file):
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RWR5MNYHhttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=B9ZDX2RZ
The videos in question called: "25pf_1.25_f1.8.MTS" playback and export from Premiere as MPEG2-DVD very well.
I playbacked it on Premiere on the second Monitor as "OutputDevice". All Ok.
I playbacked also the DVD made with EncoreCS4, on the external DVD set-top-box-player. All OK.
I downloaded also another clip 1080p 25p, converted as .mp4, from the same author, imported then in Premiere with Preset "XDCAM EX 1080p 25p" (470MB) :
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B9ZDX2RZ
    No problems with playback.
Exported as MPEG2-DVD PAL "Lower Field First".
Opened in NeroShowTime Player: the video have a serious interruptions of the playback, some moments plays back-and-forward, and it isn't fluid at all!
I tried to create a DVD with EncoreCS4 and played it with DVD Player set-top-box, and the result is bad, and is the same as the playback on my PC with NeroShowTime Player. It present the back-and-forwars interruptions.
I tried also to create an AVCHD Project 1080p 25p and import the .MP4 file, but the problem persists !
After exporting them, and played-back on NeroShowTime and on Set-Top-Box Player, the video have strange behavior, and plays back-and-forward!
    1) What Preset in Premiere should I use to editing, for this .MP4 file format, (filmed with Canon HF100 AVCHD and converted from original .MTS format to .MP4 format)?
    2) Is this a transcoding problem?
    3) Is this an exporting MPEG2-DVD PAL field-order issue?

  • Recent Software Update - Recommended for FCP X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4 Users

There is a recent Software Update ("ProApps Quicktime Codecs") that is recommended for the FCP X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4.  Should FCP 7/FCS 3 Users download this update as well, or avoid to prevent any conflicts?

I have one boot drive with 10.6.8 and FCS 3, and a 2nd boot drive with 10.9 and the FCP X Trial - best to avoid any problems.  Everything is smooth as glass at the moment.

  • Export FCP 6 preferences to FCP 7

I just move to snow leopard and FCP 7,I would like to export FCP 6 preferences (settings, favorites transitions) to FCP 7,I tried with Preference manager, but it doesnt work here...what about u...

In the Finder, go to your user name/Library/Preferences.
Move the folder, *Final Cut Pro User Data* to the Desktop.
Place the FCP 6 version of *Final Cut Pro User Data* in the Preferences folder.
If it works, that's great. If not, just move the FCP 7 version from the Destop, back to where it was.

  • Jerky Export - FCP or Compressor Problem?

I have a 20-second sequence using the maximum zoom in. The background trees swaying in the breeze are "bumpy" or seem to be dropping frames once exported and burned to DVD. It seems the video in full zoom can't keep up with them. Yet the scene looks fine when played in Final Cut Pro, which does not display any dropped frames or struggling to produce smooth video in this sequence. But once exported to Compression it gets rough in spots and gives the jumpy illusion of dropping frames.
Not sure if it's a FCP or Compressor problem. Any suggestions?

Translation problem on your end or ours?
Burn to DVD? You mean you encoded to MPEF2 for playback on a set top DVD or you burned your QT to a DVD? H-U-G-E difference.
MPEG2 hates that kind of detail and fine motion. Of course it's going to skip and jump unless you very carefully tweak the encoding settings. Very carefully. There are entire books written on how to do that, how to get the best possible compression. The defaults in Compressor just don't do it for you, they are strictly generic but totally applicable to 90% of what you throw at it.

  • Export FCP Timeline as HD 1440 x 1080i in Compressor?

I have a 2 and a Half hour timeline in FCP 7 shot and edited in 1440 x 1080i HD. I want to export it as HD 1440 x 1080i with my Chapter Markers.
Can I do this in Compressor?
I am going to make it a Blu-Ray DVD eventually.
    FCP Studio 3
    Power Mac Intel Xeon
    10GB RAM

I have had success exporting markers from a timeline but I have not have success in them showing up on a Blu-ray via Compressor.
You can make a blu-ray from Compressor but you will have to compress the file quite a bit to fit 2.5 hours footage on a blu-ray. Due to how Compressor makes the BR you may be dissapointed by the output. I would definitely purchase a BR-R disk so that you can do lots of tests.  Keep in mind that Compressor is a really basic option for getting video to BR. It is very limited in authoring options when you compare it to what you can do in DSP(HD-DVD would be the equivalent but the format is now dead).
To have the markers show-up in a export from FC you need to ensure you have done the following:
    1) Make sure all othe markers are actually chapter markers vs. just a regular marker.
Command/option/m will allow you to edit the markers and change the names
    2) When you export your QT set the markers pull-down(lower left) to DSP markers. These markers will show-up in QT on the exported file so that you can jump to another marker from the pull-down in the QT window.

  • Help! Exporting tracks from FCP to pull into a Compressor 5.1 mix

    Hi all
I'm having difficulties pulling audio tracks out of FCP 6 into Compressor to create a 5.1 mix for a DVD, and wondered if anyone could offer advice.
Our sound mixer has given us stereo and 5.1 WAV tracks, which I've laid into separate sequences under picture. (I would love to drop his tracks straight into Compressor, but they have messy heads, and include 2-pops, so I'm first aligning them with the video track in FCP.)
When I export the stereo tracks, I create a stereo mix, getting one AIFF file, which goes into Compressor's 2.0 process to create an ac3 file. All well and good.
But how should I export the 5.1 tracks? Bear in mind that I don't want to do any kind of "mixdown" in FCP, which I'm afraid is happening. The tracks are laid in this order: L, R, C, Lf, Ls, Rs.
    This is what I did:
In FCP, set in and out points where I want to trim the audio
In Audio Settings for the sequence, set all 6 tracks to Dual Mono and level at 0. (I can't help but suspect this is where I'm going wrong...)
Export - Audio to AIFF, and set export to "Channel Grouped". This gives me six separate AIFF files. BUT! Files 1 and 2 are blank (although they have the correct duration), file 3 (which I expected to be track 3 - center) has M&E but no dialog. Track 4 (LFE) has all the dialog! And 5 and 6 also sound blank.
Now, if I set Audio Settings to 5.1 (first pair stereo, 3 and 4 dual mono, and last pair stereo) I can't hear the center track playback (I only have stereo speakers).
What am I doing wrong? Am I misunderstanding the export process in FCP? Should I just give up and try to trim the WAV tracks outside of FCP (if so, what do you recommend - Soundtrack perhaps?) and then drop them into Compressor?
    Many thanks
    Matt

    OK. I found the solution!
The six "audio outputs" do NOT automatically correspond to the tracks A1 ... A6. In fact, in my sequence (I don't know if this is default), A1 went to output 3, and the rest of the tracks went to output 4. Go figure.
To set the outputs correctly, you do have to set six outputs, dual mono and zero levels, which I did, but then right-click in each audio track (between the A1 label and the padlock icon) and set the output to the required file. So track 1 should go to output 1, track 2 to output 2, and so on.
My outputs now sound right - hooray! I'll mix it down and make a test DVD now.
Phew. Hope this helps someone else out.
One question that comes out of this: for a stereo mix, am I safe to export as a stereo mix in FCP? (Which is what I've been doing.) The FCP/Compressor process won't somehow be downmixing it twice? I don't see any way to pull two mono files into Compressor for a 2.0 mix. Thanks!

  • Export from FCP as QT 4:3, Compressor Set at 4:3; ends up anamorphic. Why?

I tried 3 ways: Export as QT, Using QT conversion, and through Compressor.
Each time Settings were DV NTSC 4:3 in both QT and Compressor.
Yet when going to DVD Studio Pro it's anamorphic.
I checked the QT: it was anamorphic too!
Does anybody have an answer please?
    Thank you.

Your footage wouldn't by any chance be anamorphic?

  • FCP quits during MPEG2 high quality encode in compressor

I am trying to create MPEG 2 of FCP project using the 90min Hig Quality 2 pass setting. When I do, about half way through the encoding FCP quits causing the encoding to fail. The strange thing is if I drop back to fats encode 1 pass it seems to work. Am I going to lose much quality by only using the fast encode? Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Is it a compressor issue or FCP?
Any help would be great cause I don't want to compromise quality of my DVDs if I can help it.

    Rob,
Can you tell us a bit more about how you are going about this.
For example, are you doing this in compressor or in DVDSP?
    What is the original material?
How long is the original material?
and so on and so forth ...
    cheers

  • FCP exporting 4.3 aspect ratio to compressor

I am exporting a project in 16.9 aspect ratio to compressor and it is outputting a file that looks like 4.3.  In the inspector it reads project as 16.9, any suggestions?
    Catherine

I know it is displaying 4:3 video correctly, however I'd prefer if there was some stretching (non-linear) so that it fills the entire screen. Having 2 big black bars on either side gets very annoying. There doesnt seem to be an option to fill the entire screen when streaming from the apple tv. There are options when streaming from Samsung's own software (I don't want to use samsungs pc share manager as the apple tv's user interface is much better).
Are my options restricted because the signal is transmitted through an hdmi cable? Seems to be what other websites might be suggesting.
