Exporting Finished Movie

I have produced severla movies and exported them to i-movie projects.
The last one stops after a moment and the program blocs???
Could it be that there is to much material in i-movie??

Of course it could be. But you don't tell us how long your last project is and how much HD space you have.

  • Make a DVD and export finished movie back to videocam

I have new iMac with Maverick and iMovie 10.0.2  I was great with iMovie 6-so easy. I have tried to review previous discussions.  My new Mac does not have iDVD. (is there anyway to put iDVD in the new computer?)  I just want to make a DVD of finished movie so I can play it on a TV. Unfortunately the new Mac only makes an Mp4. Please can someone give me step by step instruction how to make a DVD. I will get Toast Titanium if necessary but would still need step by step. I have looked at online tutorials but I can't put it together. I am much older since trying the new iMovie. So many extra steps, etc.
Also, how can I share the finished movie with my video cam (i.e. move it back to my videocam or its SD).  I can move it to CNN, Vimeo, Facebook, etc. but not back to my camera like it was when so easy with iMovie 6.  Thank you.

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

  • Can't export finished movie

My daughter has a school video she has worked on for hours and we are having trouble exporting it back to the DV camera. It is choppy, skips, black picture, no sound, etc. So we tried burning a DVD--got stuck, never finished; tried compressing to QT, but it got hung up and kept adding time to the "time remaining to finish:--got up to more than 200 minutes (started at 38). She is getting desperate. By the way, it is 12 min long, about 2.6 GB, too big for flash drive we have.
By the way, I went back to check to see if the movie itself is corrupted and the clips seem ok but the sound is missing or very low on a fair amount of it--it was OK before we started trying to export--what's the fix for this?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
    Try to delete render files.
Do a new "render all" with "audio mixdown".
If this do not work, try to delete 3 pref file.
Is there any iTune music store song in your project ?
If yes, this kind of file cannot be exported from FCE, you have to burn them od a CD from iTune, and import the resulting file in file AFFTER copying it on your Hard drive.

  • How do I export a finished movie created in iLife 08 to a HD camcorder?

Does anyone know how to export a movie I finished in iLife 08 to my Canon HD camcorder? The last version of iMovie HD 06 had this option. I was able export a finished movie back to my HD camcorder and play it in real HD on my home theatre. I checked with Apple support and they could not help. I don't know why they took this feature away? I have tried exporting an 08 movie with the 06 version but it does not allow it? Why?

    Welcome to discussions.
I do not have imovie 08, but here goes a guess.
Are you able to export it as a full quality Dv (QuickTime) movie?
If so, do that and then open that new QT movie in imovie 6.
    Export to camera from there.

  • Error exporting long movie in Premiere Elements 4

I just finished editing a movie in Premiere Elements 4.  Every time I try to export the movie, it begins rendering, gets as far as about 15%, and then says "Export Error: Error compiling movie.  Unknown error."  This happens no matter what format I choose.
I've read that this problem can be caused by titles and transitions, of which this movie has both.  But I think the problem is entirely due to the movie's length, which is six minutes and fifty-five seconds.  I say this because if I split the movie into 25-to-50-second chunks, leaving all titles and transitions intact, all the chunks export with no problems whatsoever.
I'm not running any other programs while the movie exports, but that doesn't help.
The source files are MOV (and one PNG), and the resolution is 1920x1080.  I want to export it at the same resolution, otherwise what was the point of shooting in that resolution?  I'm running Windows Vista on a Samsung R522 laptop, if it helps.
For what it's worth, I did manage to successfully export the audio portion of the movie as a WAV file.
What can I do?  My movie is due to premiere at a local arts festival in a few weeks, so I need to sort this out.  I read somewhere that the ideal setup is to have three drives -- one for the source videos, one for running the program, and one to export the file onto.  Will that help?
Many thanks for any suggestions you may have.
    -Grant

Thanks Bill -- and thank you mods for moving the thread.  I couldn't find an Elements forum so I assumed there wasn't one.
Actually, the progress bar in my version does tell you what frame it's on.  When I tried to export it just now, it gave up around frame 2328 of 12447.  Frame 2328 would be 01:17:18... which is the middle of a clip, with no titles, no effects, and no transitions, just ordinary video and sound.  30%, the number you suggested, gives frame 3738, which is 02:04:18, which is a different clip but the same deal.
The exact number varies from attempt to attempt anyway, which is why I think it's a "system memory" problem rather than a problem with a certain moment in the film.  As I said, each part of the film exported fine on its own.
The videos are all MOV format, 1920x1080, ranging in size from 40 MB to 666 MB (maybe the devil is trying to stop me from exporting).  There are 41 of them, giving a total of 11.9 GB.  The single PNG is also 1920x1080 and 6.02 KB.  The movie's audio is actually muted -- the audio that I successfully exported before was just the original audio from the raw clips.
I've got 55.3 GB of free space on my C drive and 580 GB of free space on my external drive; Premiere won't successfully export onto either of them.
Thanks for the link to the KB article, but I'd read it before and it didn't really help.  As it says, "unknown error" really does mean just that.  And it's clear that none of my clips or effects are problematic since they all exported fine when split into chunks.
I really do appreciate your help!  I don't know too much about computers so if I didn't give you the information you were looking for please let me know.
    Thanks so much,

  • Export HD move to widescreen, is it possible?

I'm new to FCE. Used Premier Elements and others for years. I just edited a moved in 1080i HD and was able to create a dvd by sending the QuickTime movie version to iDVD.
Now I just want to create a file to keep as a separate movie. With Premier Elements on Windows and using DV, it was easy. Just create an uncompressed AVI and you keep good quality and universal editability. With FCE I have tried pretty much every export format and none produce a wide screen movie period. I've read through this forum and the only suggestion is to use Anamorpicizer which then requires that I buy QT Pro. (As an aside, I'm using FCE 3.0 on an Intel machine, so export to QT takes 25 hours for a 10 minute clip.)
I've tried the suggestion to create a DV sequence and copy my HD to that, still no wide screen QT file.
(My goal is to have a 'movie' clip I can use for future editing, easy viewing and conversion to iPod and other formats using iMovie which is a native app. I'm waiting for FCE 4.0 before upgrading, if it comes soon.)
Is there anyway to export widescreen from FCE? And is there any way to save it in MPEG2 for (inclusion on future DVDs without keeping all the HD source online) without having to buy a 3rd party codec?
    thanks in advance.

So it looks like you want to export your finished movie into a format that can be edited by FCE in the future ... you've decided you don't want to keep your original clips and FCE Project file ...
Do File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion
In the Save dialog box -
..... Select Format > QuickTime Movie
..... Select Use > Default Settings
    Then click the Options button
In the Movie Settings window -
    Select Video > Settings
..... Select Compression type > Apple Intermediate Codec
..... Select Compressor > Preset > HDV 1080i (you said you have a 1080i movie)
    UNcheck "Prepare for Internet Streaming"
Click OK back to the Save dialog box
Give your movie a name, select the location to save, hit Save
This will give you a QT file encoded as Apple Intermediate Codec, and you will be able to import it back into FCE in the future when you want to do more editing.
If it were me, I would keep my original clips and FCE project file instead of doing what you are doing here.
As for your other questions, Anamorphicizer is a great little app but it's only needed when you have anamorphic DV material, which is not what you have here. FCE does not encode into MPEG2; that's done by iDVD, Compressor or other applications. If you want to output a video that you can re-edit in the future, you DON'T want to encode it into MPEG2.
You might find this article by Ken Stone of interest - Video to iPod
One final note - you really should upgrade to FCE 3.5. Version 3.0 will run on the Intel machines but not well. HDV takes a lot longer to export than DV, but 25 hours for a 10 min video is awful; it's probably because you're running FCE 3.0 on your Intel MBP. Version 3.5 is the universal binary version that was designed for the Intel Macs. How much RAM do you have in that MBP?

  • Flash CS4 won't export to .mov PLEASE HELP ME!!

Like the title says, i've been trying to export my .fla as a .mov from the Export>Export Movie option in the File menu. It will start exporting but once the progress meter gets to the end it just stops and never finishes.
I don't think it has anything to do with:
    A: multiple scenes
B: actionscript directing to each scene
    C: movieclips
since I was doing the exact same thing in CS3 without a problem.
What i'm doing now in CS4 that I wasn't in the CS3 version:
    A: Motion tweens
B: importing .ai files to my library
C: using symbols created for flash in illustrator from imported .ai files.

Thank you Zombie. Specifying the length helped me export as a quicktime movie.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a rubbish piece of coding in Flash CS4 that doesn't let you export a movie over 1 minute long without specifying the length of movie.
Ridiculous really. I expect this could be fixed in seconds by Adobe, but instead I'm left trawling the internet for hours wasting budget.

  • Exporting final movie

    Hi,
Recently when I've exported a finish movie I've get three or four files, there's a main file which plays the movie and some .av files.
I don't know why it's started doing this rather than having one Quicktime file. Does anyone know how I can get it all as one file.
I can convert it to mpeg2 in compressor, but that seems to have seperate audio, if someone could just let me know how to get the audio in with the quick time mpeg2 that would be alright for what I need it for.
    Thanks

  • How to export a movie made in imovie on ipod to mac book pro

Can't see how this is done.

    Howdy Paul56,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
If you'd like to import your iMovie project from your iPod touch in order to play the completed movie, then please follow the steps outlined below.
Save video to the photo library
If you want to send your finished movie or trailer to your computer so that you can view it there, save it to the photo library from iMovie Theater, and then import it to your computer using an app such as iPhoto. If you have an iCloud account, you can also save your movie or trailer to iCloud Drive and then download it to your computer.
If you want to send any project to your computer for backup, or to be able to edit the project further on another compatible iOS device (such as iPad or iPhone), you should send the project to iTunes or iCloud Drive, or use AirDrop to quickly transfer files between devices. You can import projects sent to iTunes on your Mac using iTunes file sharing.
    Do one of the following:
From the Projects browser or Theater: Tap the video clip or project you want to share.
If you’re editing a project: Tap the back button to return to the project details screen.
Tap the Share button , then tap Save Video.
If prompted, tap the size you want to export.
Medium produces a smaller file that uploads to the web more quickly. HD produces a larger file that’s great for viewing on a Mac or on a high-definition television (HDTV) through Apple TV.
When the export is complete, the finished movie appears in the photo library. You can access the photo library from the Photos app on your device. The next time you connect your device to your computer, you can import the movie file to a photo app, such as iPhoto, on your computer.

    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • The size of my exported FCP movie is too big for DVD studio pro

    Hey,
I have been editing for 4-5 years now and have never had a problem with size of a project to put into DVD Studio Pro to burn. However, I just finished a 2 hour project in which exported as a FCP movie it is 23.97 gb in size. When i put this into DVD Studio Pro it makes it 4.8gb in size which just makes it too big for it to burn. I have tried changing the compression to no avail and just now decided to clean up the timeline so everything is on one track with nothing overlapping. (The problem was it was a 2 camera shoot so the first camera i had on the bottom track constant with the second camera on the top track when i needed it but still with the first camera underneath.) Do you think this could be the solution to my problem? If you guys could help me out it would be most appreciated!

some things don't make sense here. please clarify.
Standard DV is roughly 5 minutes per gig, so that means that you have just about 2 hours of video, ok, got that. Now it's the two track thing that gets me.
Are you saying you have 4 hours of footage, the same thing from two cameras, and you're trying to set up a multi-angle DVD?
If it's just that you used two video tracks to edit, then NO, it is not your problem. It's still only 2 hours, the video will be mixed down to one track upon export from FCP to quicktime.
My suggestion is, instead of bringing a quicktime file directly into DVDSP, use compressor. I believe they have a preset in compressor 2 for a standard 120 minute DVD. IF you're project is truly less than 120 minutes, than that should be fine. If not, then you may have to manually make your own setting and lower the bitrate.
    So the workflow is:
    -open sequence in fcp
-file>export>quicktime movie... (you can uncheck "make movie self-contained" if you want it to export faster and you plan on keeping your original capture footage around)
-export your movie to a directory of your choice with a name of your choice.
    -open compressor (in applications)
-drag the quicktime file you created into compressors main window, this will set it up. Now specify the export setting (120 minute HQ all files either 16x9 or 4x3 dep. on project) and specify a location for the files to be created. I strongly suggest that you use the HQ (High quality) settings in compressor. It's much slower to process, but much better quality.
-with a 2 hour movie it should take a really REALLY long time to compress, so I'de say do it over night.
-when compressor is done, you should have 2 or three files. a .m2v file a .aif file, and a .ac3 file. The .aif is your PCM audio, much better quality than the .ac3, which is dolby 2 channel. However, the .ac3 is a much smaller file with a lower bit rate, so if the .aif makes the DVD file size too big, you can switch it out for the .ac3
-Finally, open up your DVDSP project, drag the .m2v, .aif, and .ac3 into DVDSP and use the .m2v for the video track and either the .aif or .ac3 as the audio (as mentioned above)
-the good news is, your DVD media is already rendered, so when you go to build your DVD it will go much, much faster!
By the way, I recommend you go to file>advanced>build do not do a burn and build.
I find it best to build the VIDEO_TS folder on a hard drive and then use a program like toast to create a DVD (using toasts from VIDEO_TS option). This method also allows you to go back into DVDSP, make tweaks, and reuse your VIDEO_TS folder, not having to rebuild the whole thing each time.
Remember, 120 minutes on a single layer DVD is going to render fairly low quality no matter what.
If you have a newer mac and a dual layer drive, you may want to cough up a few bucks and get a dual layer DVD-R, then you have over 8 gigs of space to work with, perfect for HQ 2 hour footage.

  • Why Does Imovie Quit When I Export A Movie?

When I attempt to export my finished movie as a file and save it to my desktop, the file export process goes for quite a while - usually at least an hour - and then crashes.
Imovie exits, and the error message tells me "Imovie quit unexpectedly."
    I'm exporting in 720P.

    Hey there RusticBohemian,
It sounds ike you are trying to esxport or share your project but it is quitting when you try. I found the following article to help you troubleshoot or isolate the issue:
iMovie: How to troubleshoot "Application Unexpectedly Quit" messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3143
    1) Verify your software is up to date by running Software Update.
The updates necessary to resolve the issue are those relating to QuickTime, iLife, iMovie and Mac OS X. If any of these updates are available, install the updates. After you install the updates, run Software Update again to verify there are no more updates for that application available.
    2) Disable non-essential QuickTime components.
Navigate to /Library/QuickTime/ for a list of components currently installed.
Temporarily disable any components that are not in the list below. You can disable the components by moving them to the Desktop or another folder outside of the /Library/QuickTime/ folder.
Open iMovie and see if the issue is resolved. If iMovie no longer unexpectedly quits, check to see if an updated component is available, or contact the developer of the component for further recommendations.
iMovie uses the following components, and should be left in the QuickTime folder:
    AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    AppleMPEG2Codec.component
Note: There may also be a similar folder at ~/Library/QuickTime/ depending on the components you have installed. If this folder is available on your Mac, remove any components as instructed in step 2. Both of these locations hold QuickTime components. The components help you encode or decode different types of multimedia content.
    3) For iMovie 6 or earlier, try disabling iMovie components provided by manufacturers other than Apple. Start by quitting iMovie 6. Navigate to ~/Library/QuickTime/ and /Library/QuickTime/ and use steps 2 and 3, under "Disable non-essential QuickTime components," to determine what components to disable.
    4) Check the Knowledge Base.
Search Apple's Knowledge Base for further recommendations. You can use search strings such as "iMovie unexpectedly quit" to locate new or updated articles describing specific iMovie scenarios and possible resolutions.
    5) Run Apple Hardware Test and Disk Utility
If you are experiencing unexpected behavior in other applications, check your hardware by using Apple Hardware Test. You can also test your hard disks using the Verify and Repair functions of Disk Utility.
Note: If the issue only occurs when importing footage from a camera or device known to work with iMovie, consult the articles "iMovie '08: Cannot see or control camera" and "iMovie 6 or earlier: Cannot see or control camera"  for additional recommendations.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Exporting HDV movie from FCP6 to use in Compressor

    Friends
It is the first time that I'm exporting a FCP 6 HDV sequence to a not self contained Quick Time movie, so I can convert it to MPEG 2 (DVD) and HD MPEG-2 (HD DVD)... And I'm getting some performance problems...
1st - I create a new project based on HDV 1080i60 firewire basic
2nd - on Render Control (Sequence Settings) I changed the codec to Apple ProRes 422, to get a faster and a better rendering.
3rd - Exported my sequence as a Quick Time Movie, unchecked the "Make Movie Self Contained" , and the setting as "Current Settings" (that is Compressor as HDV 1080i60 and Render Codec as Apple Pro Res, the same as my Sequence Settings)...
Doing the steps before I thought that only the audio should be rendered, the movies and previews should be played from my "Capture Scratch" and "Render Files" folders, so this HDV export should be fast as my DV NTSC export was..
But when I submmit my render (it is a Sweet 16 project, with some slow, some filters, transitions and the total length is 40 minutes) , it tells me that it will take about 6 hours to render... What is happening? My exported movie is a not self contained movie, so this export should not be faster ? is there any way to get it faster?
    Thanks a lot
(By the way, I have a MacBook Pro, Dual 2 Core, 2.33 Ghz, 2GB Ram, FCP6, Mac OS 10.4.11)

Exporting a self contained Quicktime movie does not cause any compression to the actual images.
When using QT movie export FCP copies each frame of your finished movie and create new ones out of any transition between original media.
Editing HDV can require extra time indeed as it needs to be conformed after you finish. I would try to send the movie straight from the timeline once rendered. If you want to check out the result why not copy a portion of the edit on a second identical sequence and send it to Compressor.
Testing is always a crucial part of the process.
    G.
