Exporting FLA to AVI/MOV

I'm creating a short promotional video which has been created in Flash. I've broken it down into modules for easy editing and then want to export them individually into a video file so I can stitch them all together in a suitable video editing software to create one video.
I've done this however the output quality is pretty low. It needs to be displayed on a 42" monitor at a trade show so quality is an issue. Can anyone advise me on the best settings in Flash for optimum video export quality or indeed offer any other advice that'll provide me with the output I require.
Thanks

Other than get a proper video CGI app like After Effects? Probably the only thing you can do is hope you used a lot of vector graphics which will upscale fairly gracefully. If you used a lot of bitmaps you're pretty much up the creek, especially if you didn't even do it at least 1280x720. You'd have to go back and retool any tiny bitmaps or they will simply get blurry as heck.
During exporting you can choose any resolution you want. You can choose 1920x1080 if you wish. Just export your movie at 1920x1080 and take a look at it. If it's acceptable then you need not do anything else.
In the future, definitely start with the highest possible resolution you may need. It's standard in video to produce in at or above the resolution of your target (typically larger) and then reduce size. It has a nice smoothing effect and you'll never be in this situation again.

  • Exporting fla to avi or wmv on a Mac

I just completed my first Flash animation using Flash CS3 on
a Mac. I need to deliver it as either a avi or wmv file. Can
someone please help me with this. Do I need an intermediate piece
    of software?
    Thanks

I have that SAME exact question. I've output .fla to
Quicktime .mov (with no compression) and the software it's
ultimately going to for NTSC/broadcast use (Velocity) plays it
triple time or something. AVI files it can evidently handle. How do
I provide AVI? (And yes - I'm on a Mac. Seems the PC version offers
    AVI option.)

  • Export fla to avi without loosing animations

i have created a movie with intenal movies involved. The internal movies tween along a path in the main movie but animations to the sub movies don't show as they do in the swf - any suggestions.

From my experience.. its better to export as MOV first and then to AVI using software like erightsoft's "Super". AVI export from Flash isnt that great!

  • Problems with exporting flash movie to AVI movie

Hi, I have created a flash movie with motion tweens for my lettering and added external images for my backgrounds and symbols to create a presentation. The presentation works perfect in Flash, but the problem is when I export it to an AVI movie, the lettering is totally gone for each slide and only the images of backgrounds and symbols are working.
I keeping getting an error in the output box everytime I play the movie in flash:
    Error opening URL 'http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/swz/crossdomain.xml'
I don't know if this helps.

Not sure you posted this issue to the correct forum. This is the Adobe Connect Forum not the Flash forum. You might get better results in the Flash forum.
I think your conversion tool is doing that. Maybe another one would be better.

  • FLA or SWF -- MOV or AVI conversion?

I have searched the forums already and could not come up with a definitive answer. I understand that the latest QuickTime update broke SWF compatibility, but are there any other solutions, either commercial or not, for converting SWFs or FLAs into a movie file - either MOV, AVI, or whatever else? We can pay for the software if it's out there. Google searches yielded only Winblows garbage. Starting up in a previous OS version is also not an option.
Basically, we need to get our Flash movies onto DVDs quickly, and repeatedly. Maybe you folks have other ideas for doing that... ?
    Thanks all!

You can use either Quicktime Pro or Mpeg-Streamclip to convert the flv's to .mov.
    Mpeg-Streamclip.

For Quicktime Pro you'll need this component:

As for .swf, I have no idea. Since Quicktime plays a factor in some programs to convert swf to .mov. I have the flash program so it not a problem for me to convert them.

  • When I export fla as .mov, QuickTime only plays first 15 seconds

When I export fla as .mov, QuickTime only plays first 15 seconds. How can I make it play the whole file?

Try Deleting it from your device, then download again from purchase history.

  • Exporting actionscript as avi export movie

    hi all,
i have the following issue: i am creating a digital picture
    only via actionscript, e.g.
    moveTo(171,334)
    lineTo(176,235)
    lineTo(172,225)
    etc
Displaying the swf file via swf player is fine of course but
as I want to display it in a digital photo frame I need to export
it as .avi (as the dig. photo frame can't display .swf format). the
export only creates an empty avi file :(
    Does anyone know a solution?
    - Can I export just actionscript code as avi?
    - Or can I automatically convert actionsript to single frames
    (so to a non-as movie)?
    - Or does anyone know of a digital photo frame that can
    display swf files?
    Thanks for any help!!!

The AVI export doesn't support AS. Try using a third party
tool. Google SWF to AVI and you'll find a couple.
    Good luck!

  • Is it possible to slowdown an embedded .avi movie in an .fla?

    Hello,
My appologies for posting something that might get brought up often, but I've looked and can't seem to find a direct answer for this...
Our graphic designer has embedded a spinning globe .avi movie into an .fla, but it's too fast.
Is it possible to somehow add actionscript to the .avi file embedded in the .fla so that it slows down a bit??
    Thanks,
    Mike

I would think you can bring the .mov into the timeline and make your split and add your pictures. You will have to adjust the audio obviously.
    Good luck.

  • Exporting Tiffs from an .avi Movie

    Hey everyone,
I'm having some difficulty figuring out how to export a scene from an .avi movie as a series of single frame tiffs.
I have a movie in ,avi format that I need to go into each frame in photoshop (do a lot of rubber stamping), than reassemble the tiffs back into a movie...
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Simply drag&drop the AVI onto the render queue panel, then adjust the settings. Read the details about Rendering and Exporting on the online help.

  • Exporting AVI movie Issues

i have a 1:14 hour long sequence in final cut. Dv pal 25fps 720x576. When i export it to avi it all goes well, but when the export is over, when i go to open the file in quicktime or any other player like vlc nothing shows up.
The file info shows thats is a 14gb file with 1:14 hou, so it's all correct but no video or audio shows up when i open it, and it doesn't appear any error message.
I exported a liitle bit of the sequence like 3 minutes or so, and it worked well. but the whole sequence is not working.

How difficult would it be to export the video clip out of iPhoto so that I can import it into Final Cut?
    Terribly, terribly difficult.
Select the video in the iPhoto Window.
Go File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue select *Kind: Original*
Continue the export to the desktop.

  • Exporting FLA/SWF to FLV

How can I turn my Flash 8 animation into an FLV file?
The only solution I've found is exporting it as a .MOV file.
But to do this I have to use Flash 5, which destroys my animation
    since there's no movieclip filters.
There has to be a way to do this, or Adobe is just retarded
for not seeing the massive need for animators uploading to the web
via FLV. My searches online for a solution have been fruitless.
    Please help!
    Thaaaaaaaaaaanks.

I realize that this is a response to a post that was first added a loooonng time ago, but thought I'd weigh in on this topic after cruising through this forum.
One possible solution to converting SWF to FLV (although many other folks have suggested using other 3rd party tools) is to export your fla as a .MOV file.  Afterall, the Flash Video Encoder that comes shipped as part of the Pro version of the software will only allow you to encode .avi/.mov, etc files.
So, while working in Flash, rather than converting the file to swf, go to File -> Export -> Export Movie and output the file as an avi/mov file or whatever.  From there, import the resulting file into the Video Encoder and that will help convert the file into an flv.
Hope that helps, and sorry for the delayed response to this post!

  • How to increase the .avi movie size in Encore.

    Hi
I have imported the .avi assets from PE4. When I playbacked the movie in Encore DVD 2.0, I found the picture size is too small so I want to increase the height of the picture. I tried using the scale up botton in motion option but it didn't work. After I scaled it up, the movie got a little blurry and delayed the audio.
Please anyone have any idea how to do that. I'd be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bank

    Bank,
This is a problem, that needs to be addressed in PE. You need to work with Project settings (presets), that match your Assets, and then Export to DV-AVI (or DVD-MPEG2). Encore will not be able to edit the image/Video size. Only feed it DVD-compliant Assets.

  • Export a only a Movie Clip

I am building an interactive website as my final project for my Webmastering class and need to know one thing. First I'll give you my setup. I have four Movie Clips in four seperate layers on my main timeline. I want to export one of those Movie Clips as an avi file. When I use export>movie, it exports the main timeline. I figured it would do that. So then I opened up the Movie Clip that I want to export and tried the same thing again. No luck. Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this situation. I have five days to do this and have spent about four days of my life working on this if you add up all the hours that I have spent working on this. I really really need help. I don't want it all crashing down on me because I can't simply export a movie clip...
    Thanks in advance,
    Darth Haxor

Create a new blank document with the same parameters - size, fps, etc. - as the one the movie clip you want to export is on. Have both documents open at the same time. Select the new document by clicking on its tab, and then open the library window.
On top of the library window is a drop down list of all libraries that belong to currently open documents. Go there and select the library of the original document. From that library grab and drag the movie clip you want to export onto the stage of the new document you created. Position it where it belongs. Now you can export this new document, containing only the one movie clip you want to export.

  • IPhoto 6 problem with AVI movies

I have about 6000+ pictures and about 500 quicktime (AVI) movies in my iPhoto 6 library.
MAll of the AVI movies that I had imported over the past couple of years show up in my library, but when I double click some of them, Quicktime loads up, and then just opens the generic quicktime window - and does not load the movie clip. If I get info on the movie icon, it says that it is an AVI file, the original size in mb's of the original file, says it is 640x480 resolution, but has little dashes when it comes to camera info. If I use spotlight to find the actual file in my "iPhoto Library" subfolders, I go all the way down to appropriate roll, but can't find the original file. I think I may have found some of them, but they are now listed as ".jpg"'s.
Some of the AVI movies do work, but some do not... I fear that it may be corrupted somehow. Some of the videos were of my mother from two Christmas' ago - she passed away last summer, and they are priceless to me! Help! Any suggestions???

I have SAME EXACT PROBLEM as described in the original post. Some AVI's open, some don't. Can't drag them out of iPhoto, can't export (as Original, when exported as Current they export just a small .JPG). Using NO 3rd party software, the only thing I did was "upgrade" to iLife 08. Have installed all recent software updates. Is this a known bug? Is there a fix coming? The properties for my .AVI's show a large file size (e.g., 100Mb), but haven't figured out how to get them out of iPhoto in order to view/manipulate, or use w/ iMovie.

  • AVI movie duration in File Info?

Whenever AVI movie is selected in Finder brief File Info is listed including Preview in right panel. It contains such fields as Kind, Size, etc. and Duration. Unfortunately Duration field of all AVI files is empty (--). Is it possible somehow to make this field showing real number?
Otherwise I have to open every movie in Quicktime -> FileInfo to get movie Duration.

Spotlight reads file metadata (image dimensions, video dimension/duration for example), then Finder reads Spotlight's index and displays the information in column view and in the "Get Info" window. That's the basic concept, your/our problem is an issue caused by Spotlight.
Spotlight misses a plugin (*.mdimporter) telling it to read the metadata from .avi files. CoreMedia.mdimporter in System/Library/Spotlight links to .mov, .mpg, .mp4, .3ggp only. Well, to QuickTime's core media formats, you know.
A workaround is to save .avi files as .mov files ("movie container") in QuickTime Player. The file will not be exported/encoded in any way, it will simply be "compressed" in a container, kind of zipped, and Spotlight will read the information. It's just the file extension. In QuickTime 7 you have to select "self-contained movie", otherwise you'll create an alias. QuickTime X saves self-contained movies by default. Of course, this only works, if your .avi file opens with QuickTime Player...
A solution may simply be to edit the Info.plist in CoreMedia.mdimporter. I don't know. Most likely not, much too simple. And then there's still Code Signature.
