Exporting Flash for DVD use

We are working on a Flash file that will be used on the web and also on a DVD.  We have the flash file set up to 720 x 540.  We have not used the Title safe and Action safe template area, and we have type and titles close to the edge in our flash file.  How will we be able to export out the flash file to work on a DVD and still be visible on a TV since we have not used the title safe/action safe template?  Can we just output at a smaller size? Please let me know what our options are so we can figure out where to go from here.  We will be exporting the file out of Flash and bringing it into Final Cut Pro and then exporting it out through Compressor to burn with DVD Studio Pro.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
kevinLVAI

You can convert SWF to some movie format like AVI. You have tons of tools available for it.
I am currently working with Croatian television creating some animations.
I use AdShareit:

You can choose anything you like.
Hope it helps.

  • Can I Export Flash for Influxis FMS?

    Hello,
I love that Encore can export Flash for Flash Media Server, but why are PlayStream and Level3 the only options available for streaming server? Is there a way I can add Influxis settings to the list? Or, is there a way I can export for Progressive and then convert it or change the URLs for the project to work with Influxis FMS services?
    Thanks!

You can export it to any Flash Media server. You need to change the existing scripts slightly to make it work of Influxis. Pick up Playstream or Level3 script (from ..\Adobe Encore CS4\Required\FlashExportScripts) and save it with a new name with .jsx extn.
I think you just have to change the ftpURL and return path in the script and it should start working for your server. (If you compare the two scripts Playstream and level3, you will get the idea what to change)
Following are the differences between the two:
    ftpURL
    Playstream: var ftpURL = "ftp://ftp.playstream.com"; (Line1)
    Level3: var ftpURL = "";  (Line1)
              ftpURL = "ftp://" + username + ".ingest.cdn.level3.net"; (Line 61)
    returnPath
    Playstream: return "rtmp://fvss.playstream.com/fvssod/" +username + "/" + newFileTitle;  (line 123)
    Level(3): return "rtmp://" +username + "fs.fplive.net/" +username+ "/" + newFileName;
You need to find out your ftp and returnpath for your server and also hardcode it in the script for a single username.
You can also make changes to your AuthoredContent.xml file of Progressive Download to make it work for your streaming.
Just upload your flash video files in Sources folder to a FMS server and change the path of FLV/F4V files in xml file rest everything remaining same.
    Example:
    Progressive: <Media src='Sources/_PGC_Epgc_entryPoint_Kbp_1.flv' name='Chapter 1' type='video' startTime='0' duration='10.51'/>
    Streaming:
    For Playstream:  <Media src='rtmp://usernamefs.fplive.net/username/_PGC_Epgc_entryPoint_Kbp_1.flv name='Chapter 1' type='video' startTime='0' duration='10.51'/>

  • Best Export Settings for DVD burning and Computer viewing

    Hello,
I am trying to export a 1 hour video that I need to be compatible with standard DVD players as well as viewable on any computer.
Original footage was shot with a Canon 5d Mark ii in 24fps.
I have done all of my editing in Premiere Pro CS6. From there, I exported a high quality file to bring into Media Encoder (for trials of best output). My master file from Premiere was exported with the Preset MPEG2. The only thing I changed in the preset was VBR from 1 pass to 2 pass.. This gave me a 6.2 GB file.
I then brought that file into Media Encoder where I have tried the following presets:
    MPEG2-DVD - Match Source Attributes
    MPEG2-DVD - NTSC 23.976fps Widescreen High Quality
    MPEG2 - HDTV 720p 23.976 High Quality
MPEG2 - NTSC DV High Quality
These settings have encountered various issues.. some have significant banding, but most importantly, none of them will play on my DVD player when I burn them to a disc.
The discs I am using are Sony DVD-RW with a 4.7GB capacity.
Where am I going wrong here? From what I've read, the format needs to be MPEG2 to be viewed on DVD... Sorry if I sound ignorant! This stuff is tricky..

First off, don't export your timeline and then take the result to AME to re-encode, this is compressing your video twice and degrading quality (not to mention takes extra time and hard drive space). Always export direct from Premiere to Media Encoder. If you must use an "intermediate" file as part of your workflow, perhaps to archive a completed video that might later be exported to other formats, then use a lossless codec such as UT or Lagarith (free downloads).
For DVDs, you MUST use "MPEG-2 DVD". Other forms of MPEG-2 are not appropriate, as the official DVD specification requires that the MPEG-2 file has certain attributes. Not recommended to use "Match Source" for ANY export, just choose an appropriate setting as needed.
This should be correct for your application - MPEG-2 DVD > NTSC 23.976fps Widescreen High Quality
If you want to encode a DVD file over 1 hour in length, then you will need to adjust the encoding bitrate so the resulting file will fit the disc. Rule of thumb is 560/minutes = bitrate, but you might round down the result a bit to allow for menu overhead and such, depending.
Once you export the "MPEG-2 DVD" file, you can NOT simply burn that file to DVD media. That is only creating a DATA disc and it will not be playable in a DVD player (though a computer or PS3/PS4 may work since they can play most media files). To make a DVD that works in all DVD players (and meets the spec), it MUST be "authored" in a program like Adobe Encore. This compiles your content and menus and all that and then writes the result to the disc in certain way so that DVD players can read the disc. If you open any DVD on your computer, you will see a folder called "VIDEO_TS" and inside that there are .vob files and others. That is a proper DVD. And once you have a proper DVD, you can't simply copy the VIDEO_TS to another disc (as DATA), you must tell the burning software to create as a "VIDEO DVD" and not DATA, or it again won't be readable in a DVD player. Very picky spec, sorry.
When using AME to export MPEG-2 DVD, it will create two files, audio and video (.m2v and .wav), you will then Import both of those into Encore together. Note that you CAN import other formats into Encore, such as .avi but Encore will then transcode that to the correct MPEG-2 format anyway, so best that you take charge and create the right media in the first place in AME before you get to Encore.
EDIT: In AME, any time that your source is higher resolution than the destination, such as HD to DVD, you can check the "Max Render Quality" button in AME to provide the best downscale quality.
EDIT 2: I see you're using DVD-RW media. That is fine for experimenting, but for delivery to clients always use good quality DVD-R or DVD+R media. DVD-RW may not have the best compatibility with players and costs more anyways. DVDs are so cheap now that I just proof to DVD-R and toss the bad ones, up to you.

  • Exporting HDV for DVD

I'm shooting HDV with a Z1, and editing in HDV. I cannot get decent quality compressing for DVD through Compressor, nor if I compress a QT file. So I have to print to tape, then downconvert, and compress that, which gives excellent results. Downconverting to SD 4.3 is no problem, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to downconvert to SD 16.9. I know it's doable, because I've done it once, and can't remember what I did. What I'm getting is a very small image that needs enlarging to 300% in the motion tab, which gives lousy quality. Any suggestions how to get high quality compression from HDV, or how to downconvert to SD 16.9?

If the destination is ultimately a DVD, then you should export from FCE to *QuickTime Movie* ... NOT QuickTime Conversion.
To speed up your export time, do the following BEFORE exporting your video:
    +Sequence > Render All > Both+ and
    +Sequence > Render Only > Mixdown+
When you export to QuickTime Movie, UNCHECK the option called +"Make Movie Self-Contained".+ Doing this will create what is called an QT reference movie. It will be relatively small and export quickly. You can import this into iDVD and create your DVD project same as if you had exported a self-contained movie from FCE.
Note that all DVDs are standard def, not high def. Assuming your project is 16:9 aspect ratio, it will be the same on the DVD, only it will be standard def. The only true high def media is BluRay, for which you need a BluRay burner and software (DVDStudio Pro or Toast).

  • Exporting Flash for a DVD??? Please help?

    Hi there,
I have a flash presentation thats for a supermarket TV screen. Its big in file size 9.6MB. When I go file/export/export movie to quicktime and use the animation settings the file plays but leaves trail lines behind, skips frames and looks CRAP CRAP CRAP!
The quicktime settings I've used are either:
    Animation
    Quality Best
    Millions of colours
    All Key frames
    24fps
    or)
    DV - PAL
    Frame rate 24fps
    Quality Best
I need it to look high quality but I am not sure what settings to use.
    Can anyone help?

  • Export for DVD using toast

I am using Final Cut 6. I have 6 projects that I want to put on continual loop. They were all the same settings when imported to final cut and exported exactly the same. Only four out the 6 would work in Toast although could play them out of toast.
I then used Imovie to export the other two. They are all at 1920 x 1440 but when put into toast it is changing the 4 to 1440 x 1080. Any ideaS?

I suppose you are working with HDV?
    It is 1920x1080 anamorphic(1440x1080).
So Toast just shows native dimension.
If Toast shows 16:9 aspect movie on preview, that's fine.
At least my Toast 10 is recognizing movie correctly.

  • Export quallity for Dvd

I did a slideshow of a wedding in Fotomagico, export it ( Hd 1080, 25 fps, Mp4). I import it in Final Cut pro to work with the music. Now I use compressor, setting : DVD best quality 90 min, and I´m not very happy with the quality. Is there another settings that will work better to burn it on a dvd?

For the moment I watch it on my computer, using dvd player. As soon as I can, I will watch it on a Tv.
I made a slideshow with pictures, a couple of month ago, using fotomagico, FCP and compressor, and it turned out much better... But, I deleted the project, and don't remember what I did, which settings I used.

  • Export Sequences for DVD/Continuous Play

    Hello fine folks,
I've just finished my opus in FCP. It's 1 hour 45 minutes.
I edited it in 18 sequences. Now, I'm exporting into iDVD, and I want it be able to played continuously, as one long movie.
Or, of course, selectable by chapter (sequence).
Do I need to prepare my export files in FCP in a special way, or can iDVD handle it with regular (no compression) QT files?
Would you recommend I use DVD SP for this, as I have both (but am more familiar with iDVD).
    Thanks.

Mac Pro 2.6   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 gb ram

    Hello John,
you'll need to place your 18 sequences in a "Master Sequence" and add chapter markers for each chapter (sequence). Next export the movie to QT movie (do not use QT conversion). Make sure you check "self contained" and "include chapter markers".
Now import the QT movie into an iDVD project. In preferences, "Automatically create chapter sub-menu" should be checked.
Make sure you follow "The Rules of Chapter Markers":
    - No chapter markers on or within 2 seconds of a transition.
    - No chapter markers within 2 seconds of the beginning or the end of the movie.
Would you recommend I use DVD SP for this, as I have both
The route via DVDSP gives you the possibility to do the MPEG-2 compression in Compressor, meaning you'll have greater control over compression parameters, thus improving video quality on your finished DVD.
    hope this helps

  • Exporting options for dvd studio pro4

Hi I need advice on what settings to use to burn a 4minute clip to dvd.
Its been edited with final cut and trying to burn with with dvd studio pro4,the problem is that I have exported from final cut with same settings(quicktime movie)but I get the error "bit rate too big" on dvd studio pro,and when I try to export with different settings from final cut,dvd studio pro doesnt accept the file.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks a lot
    Danny

    Danny:
Most probably (99%) your high bitrate error is produced by your audio and not by your video.
Encoding your assets inside DVDSP creates AIFF (uncompressed) audio that besides to produce frequently the highbitrate error, takes more space in your disc and what's worst, a lot of playback issues in stand alone DVD plares (at least using DVD-R, I mean not replicated discs).
For a 4 min project I would use the following workflow:
    - From your timeline in FCP select Export > Using Compressor ...
    - In Compressor take the standard DVD High Quality 90 min MPEG2 preset and change from VBR to CBR:
    - Save the new preset with a different name and use it in your movie batch.
    - Now select the standard Dolby 2 preset and change the following settings to keep your audio levels:
    * Dialog Normalization : -31
    * Compression preset: None
    - Save the preset with a new name and drag it to the movie batch.
    - Press Submit button.
Use that MPEG2 and AC3 files in your DVDSP project. You probably will get a better video quality and for sure none high bitrates error.
You'll find a lot of helpful info for your authoring in the DVDSP Forum.
    Hope that helps !

  • Exporting FCP for DVD Studio Pro

I have finished my movie in FCP and now want to export to DVD Studio Pro. The movie is 13 min. long. What is the best way to do this? Also I want it to be in widescreen format for HDTV.

Is the video currently 16:9, or is it 16:9 within a 4:3 sequence? What I do when I make a DVD is just export a Quicktime Movie, and that will be a multi GB file usually and then bring that into DVDSP. DVDSP will do all the encoding as far as what format to go into. BUT, someone will most definitely come on here and tell you to export using compressor and have it do the encoding. EVERYBODY has their own way of doing it, those are just two.
    Good luck,

  • Adapter for dvd use

I have a fairly new 12" ibook G4 that I am using essentially as a dvd player. I would like an adapter that will transfer both the audio and visual image from the dvd to my television so I am able to watch it on a larger screen. I do have an apple VGA display adapter, if that would help, however I'm unsure how I would connect the other end, the one not plugged into my computer, to my television.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

you are probably seeing the extended display.. to see ur main display go to pefrences then display steeings and turn mirroring on.
this will display ur mbp main screen. good luck.

  • Exporting HD for web use

Please help! I've got a four-minute HD move that I'm trying to put on youtube. I've exported it-- numerous times-- as an MP4 (the file has to be less than 100MB). I've tried to preserve the aspect ratio. I've used an HD image size. Each time-- it gets squashed into a 4:3 picture. This is turning me into a madman. Advice-- please?

Omg-- you've referred me to a book. This may solve my problem in the long run, but won't cure my short-term madness. It's an interesting article. It'll take me til mid-afternoon to go through the steps he recommends. I appreciate the help. I admit, I was looking for a "hey- try this" answer.
My question was vaguely worded. I'm exporting from FCP to Quicktime conversion. This is where my picture is getting squashed. I haven't tried to send it to youtube yet coz every time I save it into a file, it's a squashed picture.
