Exporting for Mac
I seem to have two choices to try and help both my Windows
and my Mac users to see my demonstration videos:
1) export to Flash and try to get 500+ people to understand
that they have two files and have to have both and to open the skin
file to be able to have video controls, or
2) export a .exe file and a .hqx file and name them "whatever
demo for Windows" and "whatever demo for Mac".
#2 is great, but the files I export to .hqx have a box right
smack in the middle that says "Adobe Captivate 2"!
What am I missing here?
I don't want to post to YouTube.
I simply want to be able to export files for both my Windows
and Mac users and to have them be able to use the controls to
pause, etc.

Perhaps combine the skin SWF with the main part of the movie
by clicking Project > Skin > Borders tab and DE-selecting the
"Show Borders" check box.
This should eliminate the _skin.swf that you have to
distribute.

OK... I did a short project in FCE and want to post it on my .Mac webpage. I used Sorenson Video -15fps-"best" quality - 320x240... the problem is the web page shows a big Q with a question mark. What format should I be using for the .Mac website? WHat is the best compression configuration to get the best quality and relatively small file size 20-40 MBs? I have used iMovie countless times to put short movies on my site, but now I want to step it up and use FCE. I am positive I can do this... just how?
20-40MB is not good for web viewing unless your viewers have broadband and even that will take a good 5min to load the best for web viewing is 10MB MAX! it wont look as clean as high size but your viewers wont x-out of your page for it taking so long either to make a .MOV file go to file>export>quicktime conversion...> at bottom of menu select "options" and fiddle around but be patient becuase it takes about 10min+(depending on your computer specs) to compress the movie it will take you about 3-5 compressions to get the size right, be shure to check the "info" on the .MOV file and check the MB size each time ,NOTE: write down your settings upon a successfull compression size so you know for future projects

iMovie makes it VERY easy to export a movie to your .MAC homepage. What procedure do you guys use to export a movie from FCP to your .MAC homepage?

Quicktime Conversion
Make sure it says QT Movie in the dialog box
Below that, it will say Default or Recent Settings...
Change to Broadband High
Then click OPTION button
Make sure Audio is checked
IF you are making a 16/9 movie, click on SIZE
Change to 420x270 or any 16/9 fraction.
It will be about 3 to 3.5 megs a minute depending on framerates and size.
Then, I load onto my SITES folder and you get this:

It's just the movie on a blank browser window. I've NEVER figured out how to actually make it work in a .Mac iMovie window... however, with iWeb... move the file to your User/Movies folder on your system drive and use iWeb to load it to the web for you... then you'll get this:

Premiere Elements 9 for Mac export help
Hey, I made a video on Premiere Elements 9 for Mac and it won't let me export it. The export option under "File" is blocked and won't let me click on it. Any way for me to export this thing, because I kind of need this video.
I think you must have had a long day Steve - as it says in your book (page 274) you can select the clip in the Organize Project pane and then use File> Export> Title to save it out as a .prtl file. It does however seem that the option to select the Title in the Timeline, and then use Export, has been removed.
[EDIT] I've only just noticed the question relates to the Mac version, so it may well be that there are no Title exports for Mac [/EDIT]

Exporting selected contacts from Outlook 2011 for Mac
I've wanted to easily export a set of selected contacts from Outlook in Microsoft Office for Mac 2011. I've been through many threads about synching to Address Book and then exporting, but I've found a host of troubles, including duplicate copies of contacts being created.
So, I finally broke down and wrote an AppleScript script to export all of the currently selected contacts from Outlook to a file in either vcf (vcard) or csv (comma separated value) format. The best use of this script is to:
-- Install this as a script in Microsoft Outlook by saving the script below to Documents>Microsoft User Data>Outlook Script Menu Items
-- Change to your Contacts in Outlook. Use the Outlook search bar to find the contacts you want to export. You might search by name, category, company, or anything else that identifies the contacts you want to export. Or, you might just leave the view showing all contacts.
-- Select the contacts you want to export
-- Launch the script
The script will have you select between vcard and csv and select a destination file. This hasn't been optimized for speed, so if you're exporting 100's or 1,000's of contacts, be patient. And there isn't a progress bar at present, so you have to wait. It will display an alert when it's complete.
Sorry not to have a download location for you. You'll just have to copy the script text :-). Keep in mind there's been some but limited testing. Read the comments for details. And enjoy.

To make a 24-bit AVI file in Photoshop, go to File>Export>Render Video. Then, under File Options, choose AVI from the Quicktime Export drop-down menu. Click the Settings button. Click the Settings button in the AVI Settings window. Change Compression to None, and then choose "Millions of Colors" from the Depth drop-down under Compression.
The Millions of Colors option is for 24-bit video (8-bit R+G+B channels, 8x3=24). Millions of Colors+ is for 32-bit video (24-bit video plus an 8-bit alpha channel).

Is there a way to change the default export filetype in Illustrator CS4 for Mac OSx
Hi,
I do a significant amount of exporting from Illustrator and always need my images exported as JPG. The default filetype for exporting in CS4 (for mac) is PNG, and I can't find a way to change this. Since I always want to export as JPG, I feel like I should be able to set that as a default.
Am I missing something? How can I change this default?

Record the action then go to file export select jpeg and then the quality etc and then exort and stop recording the action give it a keyboard shortcut. -
I have a Mac Book Pro that I use iphoto 6 for my pictures. However, I noticed my hard drive was filling up too rapidly so I purchased a WD My Passport for Mac 500GB. I select photos(the number does not matter), click File>export, and select the location(and yes, I specify the size of picture's maximum, and the file extension, and I click Export and the export initializes and then stops. Telling me that it is unable to create the volumes ont the My Passport. There is plenty of space on the hard drive. I don't know what I am doing wrong. It seems like the process should be very simple to MOVE, COPY, EXPORT photos. Why is this so difficult? What am I doing wrong?
My photo library cumulative is maybe 1.3 GB tops, however I back it up to the external drive every upload. I don't think the issue is converting calculations because as I said in my previous post, sometimes when I stop transfer to the SD flash drive and restart the copying process it will complete the library of 60-80 photos in about 2 minutes like it should. The issue is that it will not proceed to copy most of the time, and the copying status bar says preparing for a long time

Export NOTES from Mac Mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac
I have been trying to get Outlook 2011 to work as my primary Mail, Calendar, Notes, and Contacts.
I have only been successful syncing Mail (except for Notes), which it seemed to do on its own, and Contacts where I dragged an exported VCard file to Outlook Contacts. I couldn't get Calendar to import into Outlook so I just recreated the calendar on Outlook. Now Calendar and Mail sync just fine.
Can anyone tell me how to get Notes over to Outlook?
ShermanOutlook for Mac has no option to import from Apple's Mail application. The best suggestion I can offer is that you use an IMAP account to transfer your messages.
Get a free Gmail IMAP account from Google and connect to the account in Mail. Drag your messages into the account to copy them to the server.
Connect to the same account in Outlook and copy your messages from the server to folders under On My Computer.
Another option is to get a third party tool that are available online.

Need to rebuild Outlook 2011 for mac identity for exporting data file.
I was exporting outlook for mac data file (to import it into apple mail), and suddenly Outlook email client crashed and when I tried again it said that I need to rebuild the Outlook for mac database using rebuild utility. I took help from some professional technicians but it was a dead end. They said that my outlook for mac database was corrupt and they could not help me any further. I had years of emails in outlook for mac that I needed to move to apple mail as I was fed up of these frequently occuring outlook 2011 errors. Please if anyone could help me in this case then it will be very helpful.
ThanksOutlook for mac stores archives its data in .olm format and it originally stores its mails in .OLK format. If everything has failed then you can seek help of a tool that can recover these .olk14 messages. One tool I know that is capable of doing so is http://www.outlookmacdatabaserecovery.com/.
Look for the trial version first and see of it works and recovers you emails. -

I succeed transferring all my contacts to Outlook.
I try now to transfer all my mails with their categories to Outlook too but I don't succeed. I read some discussions on this forum but they are obsolete as they were with snowLeopard and Outlook 2011. Would someone have good news for me and find a way to transfer all the mails with their categories from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac ?

I’ve found a way in which you can import Apple Mail into Outlook 2011 on Mac OS X Lion.
The software I’m running is Mac OS X 10.7.2 on a 2011 MacBook Pro.
You need to purchase an app called Emailchemy. It’s 29.99 for an individual license, and 49.99 for a family license. There are enterprise versions available as well.
Once you run the app, you need to do the following:
1. Export all mailboxes from Apple Mail to your desktop (or any other suitable location on your computer). You do this by selecting the mailbox, and then clicking on “Mailbox”, and then “Export Mailbox”. Save the destination, and the file is saved automatically.
2. Then you open Emailchemy and do the following:
- click on “toolbox” in the bottom left hand corner
- click on the second box on the top left hand called “advanced email conversion”
- click on “add file”
- select the folder (s) you just exported from Apple Mail (e.g. Inbox.mbox)
Now here comes the trick
- select format “apple mail 1.0 in the format option at the bottom
- then 3 sub-folders will appear “info-p.list”, “mbox” and “table of contents”
Select “mbox”
- click on “convert” and choose a save file name. Choose the format “MBOX file (standard mbox)”
- click on save
And you then have a folder created which Outlook 2011 recognizes and can import.
I just imported all my Apple Mail into Outlook 2011 – it works really well too – the formatting, attachments, etc are all there!

Premiere Pro CS3 for Mac quits when exporting
I'm using Premiere CS3 for Mac and I imported several mpeg footage I took with my Sony Cybershot camera. The videos are in 640x480, but when I opened a new project I choose 720x480 DV format. Then the videos were stretched to the DV size.
When I try to export my timeline, the render dialog shows 'compiling...' and nothing happens with the progress bar and Premiere is suddenly closed.
I took one of the videos and rendered it as Quicktime movie 720x480 in AFX, and then I created another timeline with this new video and the export worked fine.
I think the problem is the MPEG format that my CyberShot uses. Am I right?Yes.

Flash Builder 4 for Mac: Unable to export a release build
Hi
I've been unable to export release builds of any AIR projects when using a Mac installation of Flash Builder 4. I can run the AIR apps within the IDE, but I keep getting the following error when exporting: "One or more errors were found while trying to build the release version. Unable to export."
The weird thing is that I can export the exact same AIR projects using my Windows 7 copy of FB4 just fine, without any errors.
Details of the Mac installation:
OSX 10.5.8
Flash Builder 4 plug-in version, v4.0.1, on Eclipse v3.4.2
I performed a fresh install of FB4 today (before anyone suggests it ) but to no avail.

I had already seen that post, and the answers were not applicable to me. But thankfully I have found the solution now!
I Googled the error message: "org.apache.xerces.dom.DeferredElementImpl.getTextContent()Ljava/lang/ String", and came across the following bug report:

As suggested in the link above, I deleted the xerces.jar located in user.home/Library/Java/Extensions/. I then cleaned my project, and FB4 for Mac finally exported the release build!
That bug has been annoying me for MONTHS. I'm so happy it's fixed now!

Newbie. Was looking for export/share to .mov. Couldn't find it. My movies start with a AVCHD type .MTS file extension and I want my Mac friend to be able to view it...? The Help file says it exports to .mov but I can't figure it out.
Try Share/Computer/MOV (Quicktime).
This will output a DV-MOV, which will be a standard def editable video file. There are different outputs for creating a hi-def file. (MOVs are not your only options for Mac-compatible files.)
But if you just want your friend to be able view the file, use the Share/Mobile Phones and Devices/iPad. This will create a nice, clean MP4 that should play and look great on his Mac.
