Exporting for YouTube Videos?

Hi, I have a fifteen minute video (320 x 180) that I'd like to upload to YouTube, but I can't find a decent preset for exporting it. When I try to export with MPEG2, the resulting video has an odd, jerking motion to it. MPEG4 exports everything as blurrily as possible. AVI works great, but the file sizes are all way over 2 gigabytes, which is YouTube's limit. The only one that works, it seems, is WMV, but each file takes 2+ hours to upload, and, once online, the videos load excruciatingly slowly.
So, for those of you who export for YouTube: What presets do you use?

I export to YouTube on a daily basis... here is a screen capture of my settings for HD and SD, respectively. For both, Audio is set at AAC Stereo, 48kHz, High quality, 128kbps, and multiplexing is at mp4 with standard stream compatibility (though iPod seems to work just as well).

This is not the place to make a point. This is a user to user support forum. I do not need instructions about the use and care or alleged failure of cables. At no time did I ever say or imply that you were an idiot, that is your statement and words, not mine. Take the time to Google and you will find instances where there have been injuries and death dealing with 3rd party cables and chargers. • Premiere Pro CS3: bad video quality when exporting for YouTube

    Hi!
I'm a newbie to this forum and yes, I've looked for an answer before posting. I'm also pretty new to Premiere Pro and I hope that the problem I'm having is more my fault than Premiere's (it most likely is.)
I have project, a little YouTube-Video. But whenever I export it, the quality is really poor. I've also tried rendering it with Windows Movie maker and, strangely enough, the quality is much better and closer to the original file. My big question is: what am I doing wrong?
    Here are some additional info:
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
Windows 7 Professional, 32 Bit (PC)
The movie file was shot with a Sony DSC-W170 and is an .mpg file
    Video:
    640x480
    10418kBit/s (total: 10483 kBit/s)
    30fps
    Audio:
    64kBit/s
    Mono
    32kHZ
    Project settings: DV-Pal
    Standard-PAL-Video (4:3 Interlaced).
    48 kHz (16 Bit) Audio
I used the Adobe Media Encoder for the export, H.264/YouTube. I've also tried several other settings, but I never get as good a result as with the Windows Movie maker. Can anyone please tell me how I can fix this? (Maybe the quality of the video already suffers when I import the files into Premiere Pro? The video in the source and the cutting window is very blurry.)
Here you can see for yourself what it looks like:
File rendered with Adobe Premiere CS3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTAyx6O27Dg
File rendered with Windows Movie Maker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVeoUOfM_uo&feature=youtu.be
I hope somebody can help me. If you need additional info which I haven't provided, ask away. Thank you so much in advance for your replies!

    YT is set to privet.
Keep project settings and export settings same as camera.
Try H.264 (mp4) for export instead.

  • Exporting For YouTube - Premiere Pro CS5 (Canon XL2)

I shot a promo video with my Canon XL2, and would like to upload the finished product to YouTube at the highest possible quality in order to help promote the company I work for.
Footage shot in 30p at 29.97 fps, 16:9 - NTSC.
Sequence settings are all correct and match my footage perfectly.
I have exported the video as H.264, AVI, MOV, MP4, MP2, WMV and countless other formats. When played on my computer the video quality is SUPERB. I am ecstatic at how it turned out, HOWEVER, when I upload the video -in any format- to YouTube, it looks absolutely horrible - as though it were shot with a webcam.
Does anyone have any advice as to what I might be doing wrong? Anyone had any experience with the XL-2 and Premiere Pro videos being ugly when uploaded to YouTube?
    Thanks a bunch!

Be very careful when using Adobe's presents for YouTube, Vimeo, etc.  They have a fixed frame rate but it doesn't always match your source frame rate and this adds additional render time and can drop or add (adding is much worse) frames.
The worst offender is a preset that is for non drop-frame 30.0 fps (instead of drop frame 29.97) because every 3 seconds 3 frames get added.
Also be aware that when exporting for the web (or most anything other than to DVD), you want to use square pixels.
This might require a bit of tweaking with the presets but it is well worth the effort.
864x480 is the square pixel equivalent to 720x480 widescreen (1.21...).
For more indepth info on the presets (and my rants on the matter) - have a look at my CS5 and C5.5 articles.

  • Best export for flash video

I have completed an edit of a 7 minute teaser for a feature film and need to export it to be displayed online in a flash player. The footage is HD 1080i, 29.97fps and edited in the Animation coded. My experience with best exports for flash conversion is very limited so please bare with with.
    1) Is it possible to export directly from FCP to a flash file? If yes, would that be a good idea, or should I use third party softwares for better results?
    2) Which third party softwares are recommended for flash conversion? And what export compression should I use in FCP for best flash conversion results?
    3) Any other tips and tricks to get the best quality for flash video display?
Any help would obviously be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When I have quality HD video that I want to export for flash, I compress it with h.264 codec. Then, with the new version of Flash, you can swap out the .mp4 extension for .f4v and your good to go in Flash. Quality looks pretty good at a fraction of the file size.

  • What is the best compression for youtube videos ?

I know I can go in export movie, then chosse medium for youtube, but is there a better compression because when I upload it on youtube, the quality is much lower. Should i export with QuickTime or i dunno ?
    Thnx for aswering !!

What is your source material? If it is DV, then sending to YouTube in the Medium Preset is fine.
If your source is AVCHD, you could import at 1920x1080. Then after editing, share using QuickTime at 1280x720 in h.264. Then upload to YouTube through the website.

  • High Quality Export for Youtube

What are the best settings to get a very high quality export to upload to youtube? I am using final cut pro 6, with anamorphic dv footage - i'd like the dimensions to be 854x480 to be widescreen unless i can push it the full 1280. i haven't been happy with my uploads and usually see some pixellation, esp. in dark areas. the file sizes are usually like 400mb for 3 min. or so. i use compressor sometimes. i have something special that needs to look good and any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

DV is always 720x480. Your 854x480 file is adjusted to display those 720 pixels in wide screen on a computer. DV pixels are not square. Computers only display square pixels. In this case, that's OK.
...unless i can push it the full 1280...
This will lose quality, you are spreading the 720 pixels over 1280.
For YouTube, upload either the original DV and let YT compress it or make a H.264 file in Compressor with the same pixel dimensions. Newer versions of Compressor have YouTube presets.

  • Recommended Software for YouTube video download

    Hi
What is the best software out there (bang for buck), free or fee that allows you to download youtube videos easily on your mac and eventually burn to DVD or other formats/hardware? I've run into TubeSock. One of the formats is a save to "Mac" but will I in turn be able to burn it on DVD afterwards? Thanks.

    Hi Tonden,
Your recommendation was right on. Thank you! I used TubeTV to download then MPEG Streamclip to convert for play on my Mac. I'd like to take these video files and burn them to my DVD. What is the format I should covert to in Streamclip for this? Can I burn multiple video clips to DVD? Do I use iDVD for burning? I guess I'm kind of confused between iDVD and imovie HD. Thanks.

  • Would Like Willing Person to Make an Intro For Youtube Videos

I am looking for someone who would be willing to make an intro in after effects for my youtube videos. I suck at after effects and would gladly pay if I wasn't dirt poor. Eventually if I get successful enough I would pay the willing person back for all their trouble. What I would like is a white cut across a black screen similar to that of the fruit ninja cut. Then the black screen would burn away in small white flames revealing a layer behind it where I will put text and pictures.
If anyone can help I would be very grateful, thank you. My email is [email protected] if you are interested, and of course please no spam.

This is nothing more than an animated mask, a little glow and some fractal noise. You should be able to do this for yourself with a couple of hours research on the net looking for tutorials on masking, glow, creating fire. There's nothing magical about it just find the effect you want to duplicate, take a screen shot, and then try and figure out what elements could create the effect.
Put up a screen shot and I'll point you in the right direction. I can't do it for you because I'm swamped and working for a promise of pay later isn't ever good for either party, but I'll gladly give you some pointers so you can do it for yourself.

  • Wifi Fix for YouTube Videos

Just in case someone hasn't found it yet, last week I figured out some of the issues with videos being blocked if you are using a Sonicwall Appliance, and possibly any other Gateway Antivirus. The "Enable HTTP Byte-Range requests with Gateway AV" check box needs to be checked in the Gateway Antivirus settings. Just an FYI...

I solved my issue by doing the following:
My Apple TVs are hardwired, not wireless, Netgear Firewall,
I found some information on Netgear Firewall and iOS6, and problems some users were having. I also remembered that I was having probems with the New iPad before the iOS 6 update, specifically the youtube app was giving me the same error message that I was seeing on the Apple TVs - "No content was found"
So these are all of the steps I took to finally get everything working:
    1) I ended up resetting my Netgear VPN Firewall to factory settings, then added back my customizations and security.
    2) I assigned fixed IP addresses for both my Apple TV 3 and Apple TV 2,
    3) I reset each Apple TV individually, then set the Ethernet settings to Manual and assigned the IP address that I assigned in the Netgear Firewall.
    4) I re-entered my iTunes ID and Password
    5) I turned on Sharing, I turned on iTunes Match
    6) I entered my YouTube UserName and Password. (I'm using my YouTube User Name not my google login ([email protected]))
    7) Repeated 3-6 for the 2nd Apple TV
I then went to watch a YouTube video and everything is working fine again.
I'm guessing in my case the issue was the Netgear Firewall, by resetting it cleared up whatever problem was blocking YouTube. As I mentioned originally I was always able to login into both iTunes and YouTube without a problem.
Prior to resetting my router, I did reset each Apple TV on more than one occassion, but that never fixed the problem with the "No content was found. ...."
I'm happy it is working again.
