Exporting from FCX to other programs

How easy is it to export from Final Cut Pro X to other programs such as Pro Tools and After Effects? Have there been problems when going between FCX and these programs?

Either that or select the photo you want and drag it from iPhoto into the open window of the other application. Most apps will accept photos that way. You will get the full version of it that way.

  • How to export from FCX to SxS card reader?

    Hello
I am on a production team for a hockey broadcast. We need a way to export our projects from FCX onto an SxS card reader so that we can get our highlights and other packages into our trailer.
We need to Export as Xdcam with MXF with Mp4 wrapped into it.

Walt: If I'm correct in understanding that the question is how to copy pictures onto the card when the frame can't be connected to the Mac, the solution is a $10 USB card reader. Remove the card from the frame, insert it in the reader, connect it to the Mac, and copy the pix from that folder Terence has advised you to export them to. Then return the card to the frame.

  • Need to record what I hear from speakers with other program

I need to record what I hear with a program that can record a programs video and audio.
Is there any way to set speakers as the recording source, instead of mic, or can I set it to both speakers and mic?
If not, then we need an upgrade to our audio mixer that allows this to be done so we can use programs like Snagit or Camtasia to record our music programs playing.  The way it is now, I can only set the mic as the recording source, so I miss the audio the program is playing but get the video of the program playing it.

    Hey guys,
I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
What software are you using to record your game?
If anyone knows anything different, please let me know.

  • Unable to export from iPhoto to other location

Would appreciate any help and guidance with above please.
I don't normally use iPhoto but I have a couple of photos' I'd like to transfer to my Pictures folder.
When I select Export function, I select the desired location and click the Export button. A small ' exporting ' window pops up with a flash of the blue and white chevron (doing something ) strip followed by a statement ' unable to create/users/names/pictures.
    Probably doing something wrong.
    Thanks & regards

Unsure as to how but I've obviously done something wrong..it does help to read the book first!
However, other images in iphoto export ok,email ok and I have imported into iphoto and then exported back so everything does seem to be working ok.
I've obviously messed up somehow with about 5 particular images that'll I'll put down to user error!!
Thanks for prompt response Terence and have given you a green tick for making me look further. Should have tried that in the first place.
    Thanks again, regards John

  • WILL FINAL EXPORT FROM QUICKTIME OVERWRITE OTHERS

I have a project that was created using jpegs and mp4's that were exported using the H.264 format, I initially exported entire project with H.264 only to not be able to play on LG Google TV... after talking to LG, realized I needed to save project with video format of MPEG 4 so I did using MPEG 4 BASIC using quicktime out of I-movie... however, I did not convert the mp4 slides inside project to MPEG-4, they were left in the H.264 format will my final export to the MPEG 4 format overwrite those inside the project to also be MPEG 4 so that the tv will play them?? The entire project is a slide show.

Thank you for the info... I have done just what you suggested, but left the mp4 inside the slide show, saved/imported with the h.264 formatting hoping the final export to MPEG 4 BASIC for the entire slideshow would overwrite those MP4's used in slideshow (that were exported as H.264, and then imported back in for final presentation export). I am wanting it to be played on LG Google TV and know now that the tv doesn't recognize the H.264 video formatting so thus my re-export of project using MPEG 4 BASIC, tv will read this format codec... along with several others but not H.264... it will read H.63 & H.64 along with DIVX 3.11, 4.12, 5 & 6 The only thing at this point that I can figure is that the mp4's i used as individual slides with moving parts and exported using H.264 then re imported to use also need to be re exported using the MPEG 4 BASIC so that hopefully I won't receive the message of "This movie can't be viewed/played on this television/device" stumped and hoping for a resolution...

  • Shadow disappears after copying from Keynote to other programs...

I am trying to copy a drawing that I created using Keynote 09 to Adobe Photoshop (simply using copy/paste) and all shadows disappear once I pasted it into a Photoshop document. I know that this was no problem in iWork08/Keynote08, which I used previously. Anyone here with a workaround to that problem?
    Thanks
    S

The effect of the shadow is created by KeyNote and is not a part of the drawing.
You will need to save a pdf of the drawing and take that into Photoshop. Be careful as the shadow may turn out to be very low resolution and pixelate any text over it.
You should be able to recreate a better shadow in PhotoShop anyway.

  • Can't use music in other programs

Over the past few years I have ripped all of my CD's into itunes and puchased many songs from the itunes store. I want to use these songs in home movies, picture slideshows etc. The only way I can use this music is to burn the song on a cd and rip from the cd into windows media player. There must be an easier and less wastefull way. I hope you know one. Thanks.

With purchased songs, there is no other way to do it. Purchased songs from iTUnes are in the "Protected AAC" format which currently, only itunes can play on windows.
Theres also very few programs that support the non protected AAC format in windows atleast. If you plan on using songs from iTUnes in other programs, Id reccommend putting them all in MP3 format as its the most widly supported format on any PC program as well as electronic devices like radios, Portable players ect ect.
In iTunes goto edit>preferences>advanced tab>Import sub tab and change iTUnes default setting from "AAC" to "MP3". Now when you use iTUnes to Import a CD, or to "Re" Import a burned CD, it will be in MP3 format which other programs can handle

  • Create a 24fps export from 23.976fps sequence

I have a 23.976 sequence (built from DPX files exported from SpeedGrade and also with title clips) within Premiere Pro CC.
I want to export the sequence at 24fps and I'm not sure how to do that best.  I'm not concerned about audio (I already have stems from a sound designer that have been converted in Pro Tools to 24fps).
I have a ProRes 422 master file that I suppose I could import back into Premiere, modify the frame rate with "Interpret Footage", and then add to a 24fps timeline and re-export.  But that involves an extra generation. I can't just export and set the frame rate to 24, can I?
Any thoughts on the best way to do this to preserve quality?  Thank you.

I'd move the clips over to a 24 fps sequence, and then export from there.

  • Importing Ical to other programs

I was curious is there any way that ical can be exported and imported into other programs like pages, or word

Not really, you could burn an audio CD of them tho. Goto edit>preferences>advanced tab> import sub tab and set your import settings to "MP3" if you want to import CDs to your PC you have :-*

  • Export from MPEG1 to DV Stream loses audio

The title says it all really. I have an MPEG1 movie shot on my digital camera. I want to export it to DV stream so that I can put it on a DVD using iDVD. When I try this, the resulting .dv file has no audio. Is there something I am doing wrong?
I have the export options set to DV, PAL, 4:3, Interlaced, audio not locked, audio rate 48.000kHz.
If there's no way round the loss of audio when exporting to a DV stream, is there a way I can add the audio back in afterwards?

QT does not support the export of the sound from mpeg-1 and mpeg-2 files.QT Mpeg Limitations
This freeware, however, will export both sound and video from mpeg-1 as is (mpeg-2 requires the Apple Playback component). Mpeg StreamClip
Mpeg-1 is usually 41.100, I believe. You may need to set it to that via the MIDI settings. Others have reported problems hearing sound in QT with the 48000 setting. That, however, is a separate issue from the lack of sound in mpeg exports from QT.

  • Single Frame Exports From the Viewer Window

Why, when i choose to 'open in viewer' from the timeline, does it only export a static frame, or sometimes single frame, when i choose to export using quicktime conversion?
Alternatively, i have to make an in and out point on the timeline, and export that way. But this is clumsy, because i often want to send out a piece of video, where on the timeline, there are often 2 or 3 video tracks over that one, so i have to delete, or make opaque these track.
Also, opening in viewer and exporting automatically makes the correct clip name. Which is very handy.

Not sure. But a simple workaround for the scenario you mention is to just copy the clips from the track you want, to end of the timeline or another sequence and export from there.

  • Jpegs can't be resized after exporting from InDesign

I am using Indesign CC9.2.  A problem has recently developed where I cant resize a jpeg.  It doesnt matter file size or settings.  I have tried every combination.  I export a simple document to jpeg and save to my desktop.  I open the file in Preview.  I resize it, and an error message states "this change cannot be saved".
This only happens with Jpegs I have exported from Indesign. No problems with jpegs from any other source.  Any ideas?

    Rob Day schrieb:
    Yo can resize and resample
But only with RGB images you are able to save the resized file, not with CMYK.
But the same problem comes with most of free image editors, they don't suppoert CMYK.
Maybe that Kristine should export as RGB, then she will be able to scale it or scale it upon JPG export from InDesign.

  • How open images from other programs & convert to tiff?

I am new to digital photography. I usually take 2 to 3 MB images with my Canon Rebel XT and use iPhoto as my basic program to organize images, create albums, and do very basic editing. I'm running on a G4 Powerbook with OS10.3. I expect to upgrade to iPhoto6 soon. I also use Canon's Image Browser (because it does a better job of compression for emailing that my present iPhoto) and an abbreviated version of ArcSoft PhotoStudio which came bundled with my Canon and has editing tools similar to Adobe Photoshop Elements.
So far I usually use iPhoto's "Preferences/Open in Other" command when I want to open one or more selected images in one of the other programs. I have not found any easy way to locate an image while working in ImageBrowser or PhotoStudio, because iPhoto assigns folder numbers by date, so I'd have to know in which of many numbered folders to look. Placing images into iPhoto albums does not help because while the album names appear in these program's tree view they appear unable to link to them. Canon refuses to answer questions relating to iPhoto and referred me to ArcSoft for any questions about PhotoStudio. ArcSoft says they provide no support for programs bundled with hardware. Typical. What I'd like to know is:
    1. Is there any easy way to locate iPhoto images while I'm in one of these other programs?
    2. Is there any way to copy an entire album from iPhoto to one of these other programs?
    3. I've attended two different digital photo classes in which instructors felt it desirable to convert jpegs to tiffs. One felt it was necessary to reduce the loss of pixels during editing, and the other does it for any image he plans to print, claiming it improves print quality. They recommended getting a special conversion program. Based on responses here to the topic: "Want to save jpeg file as tiff before making edits to photos", others feel that for most amateurs like me this is a minor issue, especially with iPhoto. Testing this I have found, as Kevin Wolfe1 says Feb 12, that compression of a jpeg appears to occur primarily on the first edit and does not sognificantly degrade the image. The programs I mention above appear able to save an edited jpeg as a tiff if desired, but I've noticed also that iPhoto's Export command includes the option to export a jpeg (to desktop or another folder) as a tiff. When I tried this, it did create a file identified as .tif, and I can drag that file back into the iPhoto Library where it remains named as a .tif, and according to iPhoto, this file contains about 5 times the MBs the original jpeg had. What I'm curious to know is, is that a true tiff file or is iPhoto kidding me?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Typical. What I'd like to know is:
    1. Is there any easy way to locate iPhoto images
while I'm in one of these other programs?
In iPhoto 06 you have the option to NOT move imported image file in to the iPhoto library. So they images stay in the place where you put them. With this option the iPhoto library only contains "pointers".
    2. Is there any way to copy an entire album from
iPhoto to one of these other programs?
Can't you open an album, select all the images then then use "export"
    3. I've attended two different digital photo classes
in which instructors felt it desirable to convert
    jpegs to tiffs.
If you are worried about this then you should be shooting RAW format. In your case the camera is doing the JPG conversion and the "damage" is unrecoverable.
iPhoto 6 and Tigeer (10.4.x) has a little bit better supportfor raw format images i yu are worried about something that makes such a small difference then you should be woried about the stuf that makes a large difference first.
You might want to concider this workflow:
    1) use Canon software to download files from camera
    2) use Canon software to convert to TIFF
    3) Import TIFF to iPhoto (using option to NOT consolidate library
    4) specify arcedit, PS or Gimp as your external editor
Others might want to lt iPhoto do the import and raw conversion but you said you wanted thr photos to be stored outside of iPhoto's library system you you can find them with out having to do an export.

  • Opening pictures in iPhoto from other programs

I'm wanting to use pictures from my iPhoto library in other programs-- i.e. Photoshop Elements or to upload to a website. When working from Photoshop Elements, when I go to File>Open>Pictures>iPhotoLibrary I get an error message. The only way I seem to be able to USE any of my photos stored in iPhoto is if I copy them to my "pictures" folder in the Finder and then use them. Of course, this means I am using double the space on my hard drive. There must be an easier way. What am I doing wrong?

So if I use Photoshop as an external editor, the Save function is only saving a copy? Does the copy go back into the original event this way?
When you set Photoshop (or an Image Editor) as an external and then go to edit the pic here's what happens:
    1. iPhoto makes a copy of the file and sends the copy to Photoshop
    2. Make your edits
    3. Save.
    4. The Edited version is returned to iPhoto and saved in the Modified Folder.
    5. A new thumbnail is made and replaces the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window
Thereafter if you want to get to the Original you have several options:
a: Photos -> Revert to Original - this destroys the modified version
b: Export using the File -> Export command, set the *Kind: Original*
    c. Any other form of export yields the edited version.
In Windows if one chooses save when editing in Photoshop, the original is overwritten,
This is true in Photoshop on the Mac too, the difference is you're using iPhoto, and it's +iPhoto making the copy+. Hence the 'Save As' to preserve your original is unnecessary.
which i can't seem to access in Finder browse mode or from iPhoto
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
    Regards
