Exporting from iTunes to iDisk

Hello,
How do i export my music collection from iTunes 9 to iDisk -and also have itunes pick up the same from iDisk on another computer -not on the same LAN via the internet?
thanks

In iTunes, highlight the tracks you want to move. The drag them into the folder you want, and you will get copies of them. The original files will stay in iTunes.

  • Importing playlists that were exported from iTunes as text

I need to re-import playlists that I exported from iTunes. When exporting them I didn't notice the format selector, which defaults to .txt format. iTunes requires .m3u or XML for playlist import. How can the information in these files be imported (including getting it into a compatible format)?

That is indeed the procedure for importing playlists. Been using it a lot, trying to get these playlists to re-import.
iTunes requires .m3u or XML for playlist import. iTunes doesn't import playlists in text (.txt) format, even though that's the default format when you export them.
If I'd run an import immediately after exporting a playlist I'd have caught this. But who would expect that iTunes might not accept its own default playlist export format for playlist import?
The problem: how to extract and use the information in the text files iTunes exported.

  • How to mp3files, from iTunes, to iDisk public folder etc.

    Greetings:
I need to upload unedited sound files to my .mac iDisk public folder for download from the sound editors.
How do I do this from iTunes. When I drag & drop, it goes through the motions of copying the files from iTunes, to the iDisk folder, yet nothing is actually transferred.
It is necessary to use iTunes because FCP will not compress in MP3, and the zipped aiff, although appearing as 4.9mb, is not allowed by iDisk (2G) as being 'too large of a file."
    Suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

    1. First export the music file to the desktop, then try move it to the iDisk.
    2. The 'to large a file' message can occur if the File Permissions are screwed up. However, fixing permissions with Disk Utility only works with System Files, so Download BatchMod from
    http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iTunes Music Folder.

  • Export from itunes onto memory stick

I have been trying to export my music in MP3 form from iTunes onto a memory stick for use in my car. I can't figure out how to do this. There is lots of information about transferring music to another Apple product, but not a memory stick. I'd appreciate any help.
    Message was edited by: moderator

If the songs are not already in MP3, create MP3 versions using the document 1550 that Niel references.
Insert the memory stick in your computer and open it so it looks like a folder. Then highlight the songs in iTunes and drag them to the folder. This will cause the songs to be copied to the memory stick.
If you happen to be running iTunes in full screen mode, make it smaller so that you can see the folder and you will know what you are doing.

  • Why grainy home video exported from itunes

All my pictures and movies that have been purchased and downloaded from itunes have looked great!!!
But today, I made some home videos on my Canon Zr800 video camera, and exported the video to Apple TV via IMovie/Itunes.
The result was a very grainy video. It was very poor quality. However, when we watch the same home video via IMovie on our imac computer, the video looks great. It only looks poor when viewing it on our tv via Apple TV. Any thoughts???

when i tried to create a new project just now...it came up as dv widescreen...that is probably the one i used
You are likely correct, I also assume you have used DV widescreen and I assume your source is WS as well, or you would have ended up with your movie stretched or pillarboxed. I would say you are using the best project settings, if you'd chosen another project type, there would have been a lot of unnecessary conversions happening, which would lead to lower quality.
I use the DV settings for my imovie projects, however when I export to tv I get interlacing problems (alternate lines across the picture are out of sync on high motion video), my solution is to use export to full quality and then send the result through streamclip. Maybe you might need to do something similar to solve your issue.
Just a couple of things to check first. Make sure your imovie prefs match your location, if your source is NTSC then ensure your project frame rate is 30 (25 for PAL), could you also open the finished movie in Quicktime (just drag and drop onto the QT app) open the movie info window and tell us what it says.

  • How do i export from itunes 11

I cannot find the option to export my library to .xml as was done in earlier versions. I cannot wait to jump back to 10.7. 11 can't even support a search with my library size. It just crashes. Every.single.time.
Can someone please show me how to export my library safely so my playlists can live happily in the previous non-slag UI?
    Cheers

It depends on how you previously added content to the iPod?  Or are saying the iPod is currently empty, and you want to add these albums to it?
If you want to sync your entire iTunes music library to the iPod, which may or may not be just these two albums at this point, you can do the following.  Select the iPod in iTunes, so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  If you are using the latest iTunes 12, you do this by clicking the "device button" on the horizontal bar that goes across the iTunes window (near the top).  The button's icon looks like the connected device.
On the iPod's screen, there is a sidebar (along left side of window).  In the sidebar, under Settings, click Music.  To the right, the iPod's Music settings screen is shown, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.  Near the top, there is a checkbox for Sync Music.  Check that box to enable automatic syncing.  NOTE:  If that box is not already checked, checking it will replace the iPod's existing content with content from your iTunes library.  Any songs on the iPod now that are not in your current iTunes library will be lost.
Below that setting, there are two options for how to sync songs.  30GB is a decent amount of storage space, so if your entire iTunes library can fit on your iPod, you can use the option to sync Entire music library.  Then click Apply.  iTunes syncs your entire iTunes music library to your iPod.  Going forward, any changes to your iTunes music library (such as adding more albums or songs) will sync automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync if already connected).
If your situation is different, please reply back with more details.

P.S - This applies to all versions of Itunes I've used. I've just updated to itunes 8 and it's still the same.

Yea. Depending on how the songs are imported into itunes, they can vary in size. It has to do with how much compression you want. Most people are fine with using better quality mp3 files. If you change the import setting in the general tab, future imports will be much smaller. So to do this
    In Itunes,
    hit Command-,
Click Import Settings button in the window that pops up
Change the "Import Using" to MP3 Encoder. If you want the smallest files, choose the good quality setting under the "Setting"
Now, you can make the files in your library smaller by right clicking the files and choosing "create mp3 version"
Then delete the larger versions. Make sure that the files sound ok before you delete the larger versions... If they don't, change the "setting" from good to high. Your ipod should now not fill up as fast !

  • How to export MP3 from iTunes to sD card

My car radio has an sD slot and can play MP3 files. How do I export from iTunes to an sD card in MP3 format?
    Thanks,
    John

Insert the card into a card reader and connect it to your Mac. Open iTunes and when the card is mounted on the desk top highlight the songs you want and drag them from the iTunes to the card icon.
If the songs in iTunes aren't in MP3 Format you'll need to convert them before dragging them to your card. You can use iTunes to convert any copy protection free songs in your library another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. If you are using iTunes 8 go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings,, Change your Import format to MP3 Encoder for example and choose the Setting or "bit rate" you want. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
One exception to this are standard copy protected songs (if you haven't upgraded to iTunes Plus versions) purchased from the iTunes Music Store which can't be directly converted due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection. However you can burn these to an Audio CD which will work like any regular CD.

  • I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning was corrupted. What steps should I take to export iMovie for youtube?

I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning were corrupted on youtube. I tried a different photo, and the corruption took place at the same moment of the video. How do I prepare the video for export to get it ready for youtube? I wasn't sure whether to clik web or web streaming. Am I supposed to clik Quick Time after I clik Share?

I unfortunately cannot remember where I got the 'trrndlines' plugin... I assume that it must have been from CFX (as it is located under /Users/Dom/Library/iMovie/Plug-ins/cfx/XXXtrrndlines.bundle).
As for what it does, I also do not know, as I do not think I ever used it in my previous video projects.
At this stage, I think I just need to uninstall it so that iMovie doesnt try to use it.
Do you know how to uninstall a CFX plugin in iMovie?
NOTE: I have re-installed iMovie 6.0.4 (instead of iMovie 6.0.3), but still encounter the same issue.

  • I have some audio files on my previous phone which I would like to export to my new iPhone 5. I am told that you can only import files from iTunes. Is that true? If not, how do I import files from my phone - or my Macbook pro laptop-to my phone?  Thanks!

iTunes will only import music from your phone that was purchased from the iTunes store.  To transfer music from other sources you have to use 3rd party software, such as PhoneView.

  • Exporting from EyeTV to iTunes

When I export files from EyeTV to iTunes, either manually or scheduled, m4v files are created in ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/TV Shows. These files are not recognised by iTunes until I select the files in iTunes - File - Add to Library, manually, and iTunes then moves them into subfolders within the previous folder. How do I get this process to be automated so that exports from EyeTV are available within iTunes directly?  -  John.
