Exporting from Mail to Mail

Hello,
I have an old PowerMac G4 Cube running OS 10.4 Tiger and a new iMac Running OS 10.5.1 Leopard.
I want to get all the email from the Cube (from Apple Mail) to the new iMac (also using Apple Mail). I don't want to use Target Disk Mode. Am I able to export all the old emails from Mail on the Cube and import them into Mail on the new iMac?
Thanks!

If you don't want to use target mode (why not btw?) archive your inbox on the cube and import it to Mail on the iMac. You DO need some way to transfer the archived mailbox. Use a USB stick or an external drive if you dislike target mode.

To get this done select AUTOMATOR from applications. Open automator.
In the LIBRARY COL choose FINDER
From the action list select FIND FINDERS ITEMS and move that to right hand box. WHERE select desktop;WHOSE select extension and in contains add emlx without the dot.
From action list now select RENAME FINDER ITEMS.Move that to the right hand box. Select "replace text" then in box"find" add emlx; in box "replace" add eml. Before clicking RUN put the apple mail library folders on you desktop. Click RUN. The emlx extensions will be change of eml. These folders will now be accepted by the windows mail program

  • Export messages to Yahoo mail?

I recently bought a Mac and when we set up the mail account to check my Yahoo mail, it was originally set up to delete the messages from the Yahoo server when it checked the mail (I've since changed that setting so it won't do that anymore). However, I'd like to be able to access old emails on my iPad or iPhone, but now they seem to only be on my MacBook Pro.
    Is there a way to:
    1) Export the emails from the Mac mail account and import them back onto the Yahoo Mail server?
    2) Access the emails that are only on my MacBook Pro from my iPad or iPhone?
    Thanks!

Are you using V31 if so it is broken for Outlook 2003 and about all other import actions. At this point using V24 is the best workaround.
Thunderbird can neither import or export from windows live mail (that is the mail program with Vista and Windows 7)

  • Exporting from Mac Mail to Outlook 2011

    Hi,
I want to export all my current mails from Apple Mail into outlook. I am trying to use outlook import function but it doesnot have apple mail/mac mail in its options.
Is there any other way of doing this???

Outlook for Mac has no option to import from Apple's Mail application. The best suggestion I can offer is that you use an IMAP account to transfer your messages.
Get a free Gmail IMAP account from Google and connect to the account in Mail. Drag your messages into the account to copy them to the server.
Connect to the same account in Outlook and copy your messages from the server to folders under On My Computer.
Another option is to get a third party tool that are available online.
One tool that I am familiar with is Apple Mail Export
Or you can find more on
    google or
    yahoo for more results
    Hope this helps!

  • Export a short clip from FCE to mail and send as Email attachment

I have been trying to export short clips from FCE to mail. I have been getting as far as saving it as an attachment to an Email.
I have not been able to successfully deliver it to somebody. Is that a problem with my server or are my settings or the format I am using to send it incorrect ? What are the best and safest settings to choose from so the email goes through ?
I have send video clips directly from Quicktime files. Its working well and fast with no delivery problems. What am I doing wrong with FCE exports to mail ?

well it may not be how your exportinging it. what you need to find out is how big of a file will you service provider let you send. your file may be over the limit, so all you need to do is compress it even smaller. when i send a clip i don't use the mail setting i just compress it my self as small as i can. my provider will only let me send up to 10Mb files only.

  • Export from Eudora (Windows) to Mail

During a period of my life I was forced by an employer to use Windows. So I used Eudora on Microsoft Exchange Server for my mail. When I finally quit that job, which I should have done as soon as I heard they used Windows), I needed to export all that mail to Mail (MacOS).
The recommended way was to Export to an IMAP server, and then use Mail on my MacBook to download them all from the IMAP server.
However, having done this, there are hundreds or thousands of the mails (as viewed in Mail) that are cluttered up with .xml code or .html code or whatever it is. Makes trying to read them excruciating!! This may be some bug in Eudora, but regardless of cause, I really really would like to find a solution...
    Help!!!

You may try using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to do the conversion. It may require rebuilding the imported mailboxes in Mail afterwards, but instead of rebuilding them one by one, you may re-create the entire index as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see any other “Envelope Index”-named file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Exporting from Entourage to Mac Mail

I have a large Entourage inbox. Thousands of Emails. When I try to export from Entourage everything seems to work fine. But, when I import, only about a third come through. Is there a sure fire way to get all emails from Entourage to Mac Mail. I am using Mountain Lion.

    Alex,
This thread is getting unbelievably messy for what originally was such a simple question. Nowhere did I say that the procedure I suggested was meant for a particular type of account or mailbox. It allows any messages to be exported in standard mbox format. It’s Stanley who mentioned IMAP as an alternative procedure to transfer mail between mail clients, and what I said in the post you’re replying to is precisely that IMAP has nothing to do with what I was talking about...
What does “suitable for archiving” mean? If you have any questions that have nothing to do with the problem of transferring mail from Mail to Entourage, which is what we’re supposed to be talking about here, please either find a thread that discusses the same questions or start a new topic to properly discuss them in their own thread instead of hijacking someone else’s thread. Here is a recent example of such a thread:

  • Exporting from Mac Mail to Outlook 2003 (XP)

    Hi guys,
    odd one,
just bought the wife a cheap and cheerful wintel laptop, and now in the hope that I can get my mac back for my exclusive use (I've shared for too long now), I'm trying to get her emails from mac mail into a PC format.
I have an IMAP mail server I can use, but it's got a low limit and transferring from the mac mail, back to the imap server, then from the server to outlook on PC works - but is painfully slow.
If anyone is aware of a tool or a process that can turn the mac Mail emails into Outlook XP emails I'd appreciate it. I've taken a look through the forum but everyone (not surprisingly) is doing this the other way around...
    Any ideas/assistance appreciated.
Running a 3y.o. iMac 1ghz, 10.4.7 build. Wintel machine is a stock standard Acer running XP, mail program outlook 2003.

  • Can't send more than 1 photo from iPhoto to Mail since upgraded to Leopard

    Hi there,
I'm using an older version of iPhoto (4.0.3). We recently upgraded to Leopard, and ever since then, we haven't been able to use the Email icon in iPhoto to attach photos in Mail. It prepares to send all the photos, but only attaches one to a message, and then I get an error message saying, "Mail got an error: Can't get paragraph 8 of content of outgoing message id (a long number). Invalid index."
Does anybody have any idea as to what's going on here? It's very frustrating!!!
Thanks in advance for your help!

With the current software combination you are using, there IS actually this need -- your post (and others) here give evidence that it does not work otherwise. Your choices would seem to be -- in descending order of complexity -- a) revert to OS X 10.4, b) install a newer version of iPhoto, or c) take the extra step of exporting.
Alternatively, have you tried preparing a new message first, then just dragging the selected images directly from iPhoto to your message?
Um, you seem to be contradicting yourself, so I have no idea what you're talking about.
As I already said, I DON'T NEED to take the extra step of exporting the photos into a folder, as I AM selecting and dragging the images directly from iPhoto into Mail.

  • How do I import email and contacts from windows 8 mail to thunderbird

    Hi there,
I have Windows 8 and have been using the Windows 8 mail app. However, it is very basic so I am keen to switch to Thunderbird. However, I cannot find a way to import my mail, folders and contacts to Thunderbird from Windows 8 Mail.
There seems to be no export option on Windows 8 Mail. Thunderbird has an Import option but this is not able to locate the Windows 8 mail files.
There doesn't appear to be answer to this question in the forums. Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Mark

The Win 8 Mail app is usually associated with a hotmail/live/outlook.com account, so to access it with TB, set it up as an IMAP account:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/998184#answer-566746
To import the contacts, open the account from the web page, export the contacts as a csv file, and follow the instructions here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1012084#answer-607601
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Hotmail
Since hotmail/outlook accounts automatically copy sent messages to the Sent folder, uncheck "Place a copy in.." under Tools/Account Settings/<i>hotmailaccount</i>/Copies & Folders.

  • Old, deleted e-mails in mail app rise from the dead...

I decided to change from hotmail to gmail because I thought it would sync and work well with the Mail app. - Guess not.
Over the past week I've discovered several problems. Firstly, any incoming e-mails are in two different folders. They are under "Inbox" and under "Gmail" -> "All Mail". That annoys me, but I can live with it.
Another problem is when mails that I deleted several days ago seem to mysteriously rise from the dead!? I delete them using the "delete" button and then delete them from the trash folder. But once the mail app syncs again all the deleted emails reappear. This is annoying me so much! I have a feeling it takes us space on my HD (?) and emails which I wanna keep are mixed with emails that are supposed to be deleted.
Are anyone else experiencing the same problem? - Has anyone found a fix?

I've found that you often have to import your mail from Entourage to Mail bit-by-bit as Mail seems to 'choke' part-way through and you end up with empty folders. With some patience it will all import eventually.
Have you look at this webpage?
    http://www.office.mvps.org/import_export/index.html
There are some links there to scripts you can use to export your data, hopefully while retaining important Entourage information (#3 under "Bacics for exporting your data").
    Good luck!

  • Groups from Entourage to Mail

I am desperately wanting to switch from using Entourage to Mail (use Mail at home and much prefer it). The thing is that I have a huge address book in Entourage and the addresses are grouped. How do I export them? just don´t have the time to do them individually. Hope someone can help
    Thanks

    Hi erika,
You should be able to export your contacts from Entourage A/B to your desk top and then drag them straight into Mac A/B.
To make it easy, make sure you have the same groups in Mac A/B that you have in Etour A/B. Then in Etour A/B go to file>export, click on the radio button that says "Items that are in the category:" and choose your category - hit continue. Continue thru the preference choices and save the file (should be a .rge file) to your desktop.
Once saved, just drag that file to your respective/corresponding group in Mac Address book and it should drop right in, giving you a total of the cards/addresses you are importing as confirmation
    Good Luck,
    John
