Exporting from the Sample Editor

Ambition: To lift a brief sample from an Aiff file to use in an arrangement.
So far I have the sample in the sample editor, and the portion of the sample I wish to use highlighted. (I can even play it looped using the loop function)
My question:
How do I get this small 4 sec. slice of the 3 min. Aiff file on its own? And how do I export it for use in later, perhaps unrelated projects?

hi, once selected(in sample edit) go to audio file menu - save selection as....
also, this can be done and is reflected in the said region in the arrange.
edit region, then local audio menu - save region as audio file...

It is a shame that it looks like there still is no destructive editing using installed plug-ins in the sample editor. Seems very obvious to me that this feature should be included in Logic. Very disappointing. I’m assuming that you will be able to do this via Soundtrack Pro, but that’s just another layer added to the work flow.

While everything you say is absolutely correct, in terms of being able to do this within Logic itself, there are times when using Soundtrack Pro does make more sense for destructive printing of AU FX's.
High pass filtering a vocal track with a lot of plosives comes to mind. It's easier to destructively apply the AU high pass filter on just the plosive syllable, or waveform in STP, than in Logic.
Same goes for some extreme cases of De-essing.
With STP selected as your external audio editor, it's very easy to use from within Logic. The two co-exist quite gracefully.
I'd personally love to see Logic adapt some of STP's destructive capabilities, and I'd actually be surprised if we didn't see that at some point in it's evolution.
But I say none of this to dismiss what you've generously offered here. The information you provided in your first post is important for the Logic novice to be aware of.

How Can I Change The Sample Editor's Audio Output Channel?

Hey, new to logic, im using a Motu 828mk3 interface,
The Sample Editor is playing out on differnt outputs(1-2)
on my interface than my audio tracks in the arrange window,
my audio tracks are assigned to out 9-10 in the mixer section
which are the Main outputs on my interface, How can I change the
audio output of the Sample Editor to play out of my interface's main outputs(9-10)?

Change the output of the Prelisten mixer channel to the outputs you want it to play from. The prelisten channel is used for the sample editor and the Apple loop previews... you'll find it in your mixer somewhere in the high audio channel numbers...

Multiple CSV exports from the one button or pl/sql procedure?

I need to have multiple csv exports from the one press of a button. The easiest way I found to do this is it to use javascript to popup three windows, each as a CSV link. This is a bit ugly though, and leaves the browser popup windows open when the file has been downloaded.
I guess I could also make a solution based on branching, but I think that would be difficult to maintain and reeks of bad design (im not a fan of this spagetti GOTO style code!).

However I would like to know if its possible to download more than one file using this method. I could not work out how to do this .
Has anyone got any ideas? Simply repeating the code puts the second table into the original csv file. Is there a way to 'reset' the htp writer or smoething?

I guess I could ask how to do this in APEX - but it seems to me that my original wording addresses the concept at a much more abstract level. I may not find the best solution for my problem if I just asked 'how can I dynamically zip together three tables as seperate files and send them to the client?'. I also suspect that this method is not possible in APEX without custom packages. Please prove me wrong!
I guess even if I could find some kind of javascript that didnt open a new window, but was a direct download to the CSV, that would be a good compromise. At the moment when you click on the link, three windows come up and stay blank until the files are ready for downloading. Then after the files have been downloaded the windows must be shut manually. Yes, I could use javascript to make the windows 1x1 pixel perhaps, and then shut them after a predetermined timeframe - but this is hardly an elegant solution!

None of the functions in the sample editor are appearing

Every time i go to the sample editor the editing functions are all greyed out, with the exception of gain I am using some of the logic content
Is there an easy way around this? Did I not correctly install the au stuff?

sounds like you are editing an apple loop. those cannot be modified without bouncing the loop in the arrange, and reimporting it

I wanted a final say on wether or not I can move audio with sample accurate percision by moving the anchor in the sample editor with update in arrange page turned off. i just need a verification of this.

yes you can and should use the sample editor to make
such compensations. you do this by aligning the
anchor point to the sample or part of the wave form
that you want to correspond to a beat or subdivision
(ideally) though of course it can be any point you
want it to.
if you use 'pickup clock; move object or event to
SPL' KC the anchor point will jump to the SPL.
Philip K is right though; if your entire track is out
by the same amount that you can measure you could use
the sample delay (though of course that will only
delay it not move it forward in time). but you won't
see the waveforms align themselves to the beat
meaning you would have to be aware that that track
has been compensated for.
on balance i would edit with the sample editor.
I was thinking that you could delay the rest
of your tracks by however many samples thus
aligning by compensating everything else though
in real world situations I don't know how practical
this would be. I keep forgetting that you can measure
how many samples you select in the sample editor even
if you cannot see them individually. So I will defer
to the voice of experience on this. If Rohan would use

Lightroom stalls on trying to export from the book module

Lightroom stalls on trying to export from the book module to either PDF or Blurb. Progress bar at the top left just shows "Exporting book...rendering cover.untitled DNG". I have even tried a single page low resolution book but no difference. This happened in Lightroom 4 and still after upgrading to Lightroom 5. I have tried I have tried also unchecking all the background options.

When you click on <Send Book to Blurb> a dialog should come up that asks for your ID and password for your Blurb account. I don't know if Blurb ships to Norway - you probably can find out at the Blurb website. But I don't think that this is the problem here since you also cannot export a PDF or JPGs.
I don't know of any specifics why this is not possible for you but it's worth trying to replace the Preference File.
This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
BTW: Re-installing Lr or updating / upgrading Lr does not replace the Preference File since it is designed to "survive" upgrades.

This work around has always worked, it may make some changes to transitions but better that than be unable to open.
Export from version 6 as a PowerPoint, choose PowerPoint 2003 in the in advanced options.
Once you have the PowerPoint file open in Keynote.

I have heard of some people having a similar problem, which was resolved by a simple restart of their iPhone. If that doesn't help you, you may want to consider de-authorizingyour computer in iTunes, then re-authorizing it and performing a sync to your iPhone again.

Help getting desired audio region into the sample editor

Chapter 21 of the manual is of no help. Assume I have to audio regions on the same track--singer sang first part of song..... big pause... then sings second half of song ( same track but two distinct ausio regions) All I want to do is be able to quickly have a desire region show up in the sample editor to do edits. The actual instructions about editing are pretty clear. But getting the correct region to show up in the sample editor is the hard part. Even if I click the audio track and click the audio region desired, some other region or some region on another track will be there. And I can't change. This shouldn't be that hard. +I do not to have this problem with piano roll and software intrument regions. You simply click a software track region and click piano roll and the detail of the region shows up+...... Is there a simple protocol for getting a desired audio region to show up in sample editor. Notice that there is no clear explanation for this basic, antecedent task in Chapter 21.

You can't really 'quantize' audio. If it is a single track like stacatto mute guitar, or snare drum hits - you could. Use the 'strip silence command' and then in the list editor highlight all the individual pieces of audio and quantize that.
But if the audio is continous or there are too many notes very close together you will not be able to do that.
If you mean that the track was a 'real guitar' (by musiclab) - yes you can quantize the midi notes.

You can add your app to the Muse page using the Insert HTML feature in Muse. However, it depends on your hosting server whether or not the app will work. For example, if your app is in php and your server is configured for php, the app should work.

PDF Export from the JRC

First one:
I am exporting crystal reports to PDF from the JRC. I have a report that contains sub-reports in the group header which when displayed, span multiple pages. In the designer, it starts on a page and then wraps to the next page (as expected). From the JRC, if the subreport spans multiple pages, it displays a blank page first, then the subreport and subsequent pages. So for example, instead of a 12 page report, I get an 18 page report with 6 blank pages.
Second one:
When the sub-report spans multiple pages, I lose the page headers on the subsequent pages with the sub-report only to get the page header back when the next sub-report prints..
Are there any fixes for this?

I do have the "Keep together" check for the group because I do want a new page every time the group begins to print, but I don't want the blank page in between.
Second one:
When the group spans multiple pages, I lose the page headers on the subsequent pages within the group header only to get the page header back when the next group header prints..
