Exporting geotagged pictures from iPhoto = driving me crazy!?

Argh, I'm ready to explode soon ...
So I've got these pictures taken with my iPhone. I've uploaded them to iPhoto. So far, so good. The geolocation data is there. iPhoto pinpoints the location on a map.
Now I want to export these pictures so that I can upload them to PicasaWeb. I choose 'export' and I click on the 'include location information'. Yet when I've uploaded them to Picasa there is no geodata anymore!?
Why not and what have I to do to get it included and displayed in Picasa???
Thanks a lot!
Jerome

Export them from iPhoto to the Desktop. Can you see the location info there - for instance, viewing them with Preview. (Open the Pic in Preview and use the Tools Menu -> Show Inspector  to get the Info Pane as indicated
If the GPS info is present then the issue is with Picasa. If it's not, then the issue is with iPhoto.

  • Exporting "face pictures" from iPhoto

I have a very large external iPhoto library (25,000+) pictures in multiple folders. I would like to export particular "faces" from that large library but I keep getting the UNABLE TO CREATE VOLUME error message. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can create a new folder for pictures of particular persons?
    Thank you in advance....

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail and the actual photo. That's why you can't export.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How do  I export a set of pictures from iPhoto to Photos

My MacBook Pro now has OS X 10.10.3 and the new Photos app.
I have over 30K pictures in the iPhoto app in this laptop, and I do not have the need to sync all of these pictures with all of my iOS devices; I won't be using iCloud.
I was not able to determine if Photos can import sets of pictures from iPhoto; I could have imported all of my pictures from the iPhoto library but did not find out if Photos does have the option to import sets as per user's needs; I saw Photos allow the user to select those he/she wants to import but I don't think I would like to select these one by one from 30K photos.
I will like to transfer sets of these pictures selected by date taken from iPhoto and export them to Photos library I created in an external volume. I need to free some space in my HD.
    Any suggestions?

There is no way to import from an iPhoto Library to a Photos one. You can migrate an entire Library at one time, that's all. Otherwise your choice is to export from iPhoto to the Finder, thereafter import to Photos.

  • How to I export pictures from iphoto to a sd card

how do I export pictures from iphoto to a sd card?

    léonie wrote:
Exporting from iPhoto to the SD card is preferable. Dragging to the card will only write the lower quality  preview files and not the high resolution originals.
Export to a folder on the Desktop and then drag the folder to the card. If the file system on the SD Card is not MacOS Extended (Joournaled), you'll avoid a problem with the limit of files, that can be stored on the top level of the card by collecting all files in a folder.
Actually I found the opposite was true.
As you can see in the following picture, the dragged photo, which is the one named IMG_2268.JPG  retained more metadata and had a larger file size than the one I exported which was reduced in file size, and lost a bit of the meta data in the export.   Including the creation date, and the latitude and longitude.
I think Dragging is the better option.

I currently have iPhoto '09 version 8.1.2. I tried uploading pictures from iPhoto to Facebook but I get the message "An error has occured. Please try again later". How do you move pictures from iPhoto to an SD Card on a late 2011 Mac Book Pro 15 inch?

Do you have a SD slot? If not you get a USB to SD memory card adpater at the computer/office/online store and use that.
It appears as a drive on your machine and you can use Export from iPhoto or drag and drop methods too.
    Make sure you backup

How do I save my pictures from Iphoto to a flash drive??

File -> Export and export the files to a folder on the desktop.
Drag the folder to the flashdrive.
You might not want to reformat the drive as then it won’t work with many other devices.

  • Importing rotated pictures from iphoto

Hello everyone. I'm a new mac user and I am in love with my new mac. I'm mainly using it for the imovie application. I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer...
Does anyone know how to take a rotated picture, pull it into imovie and then have it stay rotated instead of reverting back to the sideways nature it originally was? I would appreciate anyones help.
I took pictures off of my pc and imported them from a cdr. Some of the pictures were taken sideways. Im able to rotate them in iphoto, but when I drag them into imovie they go back to being sideways.

    Welcome to the forums.
One option would be to Export the photos from iPhoto (they should reflect your rotations) and then import to iMovie. If this is all you're doing in iPhoto, you could also use Preview to handle the rotations.

  • Export an album from iPhoto to Aperture

When I tried to export an album from iPhoto the following notice appeared; "Unable to create/users/the house icon/Pictures. Any ideas? I appreciate all the help you can give me. Thank you.

You can get this message if your iPhoto Library is corrupted. Go through that Album and Select the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?

  • I need to save some pictures from iPhoto to a SDHC photo card for a digital frame and was wondering if there is a way to shrink or compress file size for each picture as I have already cropped the pictures? Thank you

I need to save some pictures from iPhoto to a SDHC photo card for a digital frame and was wondering if there is a way to shrink or compress file size for each picture as I have already cropped the pictures? Thank you

Yes, you do this when you export the images from the Library.
    File -> Export
in the Size section, you don't need images larger than the frame size, so you can specify that and in the Jpeg Quality you can select the amount of compression used.

I purchased Macbook Pro and I'm having a problem with iPhoto.  I cannot move pictures from iphoto to ebay.  I see the iphoto icon but it is grey and I cannot open it.   Do you know why?

If it doesn't work, you can try to export the photos to a folder. Open iPhoto, select the photos you want to be in eBay and go to File > Export. Then, upload the photos to it

To back up the Library: that is images, organisation, edit history etc etc
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

  • I'm trying to upload pictures from iphoto to stores such as walmart or costco for prints. the images won't upload to these sites. i'm new to mac so i know i'm missing a step somewhere.

i'm not able to upload pictures from iphoto to stores such as walmart or costco to order prints. the images just won't load. does anyone know what i'm doing wrong??

Well, since there is no function to export from iPhoto to these sites directly, here is a simple way how you can try it:
    - create a folder on your desktop
    - name it like "WalMart pics"
    - open iPhoto
    - resize it so you can still see the folder you just created
    - select the pictures you want to send to the store in iPhoto and drag them onto the new folder
The folder now contains the pics you selected. Now go to the stores' websites and upload the pictures from that folder.
You might also use the "Share" option in iPhoto to get the photos into a folder, but I like the direct drag and drop better.
