Exporting graphics in SWF format

Dear all,
I have a question regarding Illustrator. I have recently produced a graphic containing a lot of gradient shading using the MESH TOOL.
Ideally I would like to export this into Flash in SWF format but everytime I do this the outines and solid areas of colour are exported as vectorised graphics but the areas containing the gradient shading produced using the MESH TOOL are all rasterized as solid pixelated graphics. Is there anyway around this? Do I have to do something to the graphic in illustrator before exporting. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. My email is [email protected] I could send you the original graphic to see where I am possibly going wrong.
Thanks and regards
Keith

If I recall correctly gradient mesh objects are just not supported in the swf export process.

  • Export Book as SWF - formatting (single page on screen at start)

    Was this book created in InDesign? http://www.qub.ac.uk/edu/Summer%2010%20Newsletter/
    I am currently working on an annual report and when finished want to save it in various formats, one being export to SWF with page turns. I successfully tested this earlier. The cover and subsequent pages of the report are all A4 size, however when exported as SWF it shows on the screen in my browser as landscape with a white A4 page next to the cover (to the left) and at the end next to the back cover (to the right). Why is this?
    Is there any way of exporting it so that as per the link above it starts of as a single page of just the cover and then goes into side by side pages when you turn the cover over and start reading?
    Also, different to saving an INDD as a print quality pdf, when I export to SWF the quality seems reduced, especially with the images (I used original tiff images as it will also be printed and saved as press quality pdf). Is there any way of keeping it as sharp as if it were being saved as press quality pdf?
    Finally, like the link above, can we add sound in InDesign to the swf page turns?

    That example you linked has most certainly been done from PDF file by using some commercial service which converts PDF file to digital magazine. You can do similar publications from InDesign CS4 or CS5 too. Check out http://www.prepress.fi/eDocker_eng ....
    If you want to get rid of that white area next to cover/backcover, simply draw a rectangle that overlaps a little with cover/backcover page, and color it gray. Just make sure it´s little bit bigger than your page size. InDesign exports it along SWF and if you use exactly same grey that has been used in background of html, nobody can see that empty area any more... here´s a sample: http://www.prepress.fi/e_newsS10
    Color values for that grey box are (in CS5) R153 G153 B153 (see images)
    If you have InDesign CS5 in use, you can add sound files to you indd. I have never used a page turn sound, but in theory it should work if you put a sound effect to every page and make it play automatically when page is opened... is it fast enough or is there some lag caused by loading..? I don´t know but if you have a sound file in right format, it´s easy to test.... and remember to test it also from server, not just locally...

  • Does Adobe Media Encoder save/export in swf format?

    Does Adobe Media Encoder save/export in swf format?
    If yes how?
    Thanks

    SWF is not a video format. That is why the Flash Video (FLV and F4V) formats exist.
    The are very inefficient ways of making SWF behave in some ways like a video format, such as creating a SWF file that uses a sequence of JPEG or PNG image frames, but such files are enormous and have other problems. After Effects has this option, which was created before Flash Video (F4V and FLV) formats were invented, but that does not mean that a modern video encoder like AME should add this very obsolete feature.
    The way that people create video for Flash Player is to create F4V or FLV files. You can embed or link those in a SWF file using Flash Professional.

  • Illustrator CS6 - Export Slices to SWF or SVG - not possible anymore?!?

    Hi all,
    I just learned that it's not possible anymore to export slices to swf or svg via the save for web dialog:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/ivandavid/illustrator_cs6_save_for_web/
    Apart from the fact that I believe that this is a pretty strange decision to remove an existing feature…
    Does anyone know a workaround for that (apart from installing cs5.5...)?
    I need to somehow be able to export my slices to swf.
    As far as I know, the only option to export slices is via the save for web dialog, but this dialog only offers pixel graphic formats, so now way to use fireworks or what ever to convert them to vector swfs…
    What a bummer…
    Thanks!

    Semi-ignore my previous answer - figured out another work around that involves converting your slices to artboards.
    After you have made all of your slices, use the Slice Selection Tool to select your first slice. Go to Object > Artboards > Convert to Artboards. This should create a new artboard out of that slice. Do this for all of your slices.
    After creating new artboards from your slices, go to File > Export... and select Flash (swf) from the dropdown menu. Make sure you check the "Use Artboards" option underneath the format menu.
    This process should result in individual swf files of each of your slices, along with your original image. Hope this helps!

    Can I know how do I schedule Xcelsius report in Infoview for SWF format.
    My report is ready and user wanted this report everyday morning.
    I am refreshing it manually and sending him.
    I want to write flash file in a share location.
    Please help me.

    Hi,
    Unfortunately, scheduling of the swf files are not possible at the moment.
    You can manually export the swf to a network location.

  • Creating a "tabbed" image in an exported PDF or SWF

    I posted about this last year, well in advance of actually doing it, and thought I had the correct answer (see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3759403#3759403). However, now that I've had a detailed look at CS6 and tried to create a "tabbed" PDF (my original term, but more correctly called a multi-state object with interactive buttons), I find that it can't be done. Although maybe it can, hence this post.
    I'm trying to make a file (PDF, SWF, whatever) exported from CS6 that can be opened by virtually any novice computer user without hassle. i.e something like a PDF; something my grandmother could open and marvel at the cleverness of her grandson. Here are some options I've tried.
    Method 1
    Export a "tabbed" image from CS6 to Interactive PDF format. Unfortunately, "tabbed" images don't tab. Or have I not ticked the right options when exporting?
    Method 2
    Export to SWF format, with the HTML option ticked. But that seems to generate two separate files: an swf file and a .html file. Clicking on the latter opens the file in a web browser – so far so good, and it works like a charm – but I don't like the idea of two files when I send them to my grandmother. I suppose I could encapsulate both of them in a zip file, tell her to open that, and then open the one with the suffix .html… but you can see the process is getting complicated, probably beyond my poor old Nanna.
    Method 3
    Export to PDF (Print). To get this to work for "tabbed" images, this is what I envisage (not yet tried).
    Say I have three images that I want to overlay and tab between, like you can do in Photoshop. I set up multiple interactive buttons (Next, Back, Skip…), appropriate text anchors, and whatever else is needed, on three separate pages, with the three images in identical locations on those pages.
    The user comes to the first image, checks out the image, then hits Next. The page seems to instantly change to the next image (on the next page).
    The user then hits Next or Back or Skip.
    In the above thought experiment, I think I have simulated "tabbed" images at the cost of additional pages. Any novice user could easily open the document, though I'd have to make sure the navigation is very clear and simple to use.
    I welcome any comments on obtaining "tabbed" images from a document exported from CS6.

    Thanks Bob. I posted a short while ago, but have edited that post.
    With further playing around I was able to get your suggestion working (exporting to SWF, then placing, then exporting as Interactive PDF). Why would I be disappointed if I tried that method with an entire document? My document will probably contain about 200 pages, and maybe 20 of them would have "tabbed" images. What problems would I come across, other than the extra time involved in separately generating 20 pages of "tabbed" images.
    [Added after some testing]:
    One problem I have found is that text is rasterised.
    When I export a page from InDesign to SWF, and then open the SWF file in Flash Player (Projector), text is a vector.
    When the SWF file is imported back into InDesign, and exported as a Interactive PDF, the text ends up rasterised…
    But if I export as SWF, the text is not rasterised.
    CS6 is rasterising the text within a SWF file when it exports to PDF. Is there a way of exporting an SWF file to Interactive PDF so that text is not rasterised?

  • Query regarding conversion of Quick Time movie files to .swf format

    Hello Everyone,
    Is it possible to convert QT movie files to .swf format using
    any tool ?
    Will it significantly reduce the file size ?
    Suppose we have a QT movie file of size 3MB , when it is
    converted to .swf
    format what will be its size ?
    Then can we play this .swf file using QT player or we require
    flash player
    to do so .
    Kindly answer these queries.
    Thanking you,
    With Best regards,
    Anil.

    Sudeshchan Shetty wrote:
    > Is it possible to convert QT movie files to .swf format

    Hi Anil.
    Yes, you can. You can import QT movies into Flash and embed
    the movie and then
    export an swf version of it. You can also convert teh video
    to a FLV (Flash
    video) and have a swf that provides the controls and player
    for it.
    > Will it significantly reduce the file size ?
    File size probably will go down but that depnds on what
    compression the orginal
    QT has and what compression you use when importing to Flash.
    I'd say start with
    a high quality QT, then try various compression levels when
    importing to get
    the best size to quality balance.
    > Suppose we have a QT movie file of size 3MB , when it is
    converted to .swf

    Is hard to say - as mentione dabove, depends on what the QT's
    compression is.
    > Then can we play this .swf file using QT player or we
    require flash player
    > to do so .
    You'll have to play the swf through Flash. Why would you wnat
    to play it
    through QT?
    What's the output for - CD/web? I'd suggest FLVs ratehr than
    an embedded vidoe
    into a swf as you can get better quality control and
    playback.

  • Export Graphic w/Transparency, CS6 Server, Fail

    I have a script that loops through all graphics inside an adobe indesign document. The script senses what type of graphic file it is (JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PSD, etc), and, based on some simple rules, the graphic will get exported as either a JPEG, or a PNG.
    For source graphics that have the POTENTIAL to have transparent pixels in them (TIFF, EPS, et al), the export format is set to PNG. For all others, the export format is set to JPEG.
    This has been running quite well for some time now, until I switched over a development server to CS6. It was just discovered, this morning, that graphics w/transparent pixies get exported as a PNG, but, where my transparency USED TO BE, I now see a big ugly piece of white. It's terrible.
    I've scoured the documentation looking for an answer. Suprisingly, I see a new batch of PNGExportPreferences that I didn't have available to me in CS5.5, but, none of these seems to do the trick. The one that stands out to me is app.pngExportPreference.transparentBackground = true. The documentation for this property is a bit ambiguous in my particular use-case, and, sadly, doesn't seem to do the trick. I'm still seeing a big ol' white blob where I would expect to see transparency.
    The basic syntax for what I'm doing is:
    d.allGraphics.each(function(graphic){
      graphic.exportFile(ExportFormat.PNG_FORMAT, "graphic.png");
    Ideas?

    NEVERMIND. I am an idiot. The script is running fine. the .transparentBackground setting IS the trick. I just completely FAILED to remember, until now, that MS's paint program cannot handle transparency. I was viewing the exported graphic in Paint. SUCH an idiot.

  • I need help to convert photos in the .swf format to a format that will open on iOS

    I need help converting photos in the .swf format to a format that will work on my Mac.  Thanks

    SWF is a Flash file that should be able to be opened with your web browser on your Mac. Probably not on iOS though.
    You will likely need to find the source file for the application that created the SWF and the image will be in that. You could then export/extract the image and have it as a stand alone file.
    It does look like there are applications that can do what you are looking for though: https://www.google.com/search?q=SWF+to+JPG

  • Exporting Graphics from CorelDraw to Flash

    Hi,
    I'm having issues exporting from CorelDraw (v 12) to Flash
    (v8.0).
    I searched the forum but only found posts suggesting things
    I've already tried {
    swf}
    eps/ai}.
    What's happening is that any file type I've tried to export
    from CorelDRAW appears to corrupt in some way when imported into
    Flash. This is the
    original
    image in Corel. If this is saved as an .swf, then imported to
    flash, it appears
    like
    this (note various missing lines). If the graphic is copied and
    pasted directly from Corel into flash, different errors appear,
    this
    is a zoom of the uppermost corner - note the non-meeting lines,
    and lack of bolding/dashing on the lines where it previously
    existed. Saving as either EPS or AI and importing causes different
    errors again, usually in terms of really badly vivid colours.
    I know that with CorelDRAW v9 a plug-in existed which helped
    export as an swf which imported OK into flash. Does a similar
    plug-in exist for Corel 12, or has anyone got any other
    suggestions?
    Thanks very much for your help!
    Tim

    Corel is a terrible program - I think thats where your
    problem is. Make sure you're working (in Corel) in RGB, as that
    could cause color difference. As per the lines not meeting up,
    thats just zany. eps/ai/swf all keep the vector-ness alive, but if
    thats not working, and you absolutely must work in Corel (they do
    sponsor tennis tournaments, after-all, thats nice of them), I would
    try a bitmapped solution. (png/jpg/gif) It'll up your filesize and
    negate the vector positives, but at least it will look like you
    want it to.

  • SWF format

    Hi folks..
    i developped one dashboard.When i export to SWF format it showing in small format.Please help me how to increase the size of the swf format...\
    Thanks,
    Yogisha

    Hi Yogisha ,
    Max font size you have given in your xlf file is the max font size that you can expect for a swf file in info view.
    SWF size is completely dependent on your screen size ,it fits according to screen size.
    so always keep the canvas size to 'Fit Canvas to Components'
    Try doing the following in your infoview page
    Uncheck all the tool bar options so that ur screen size is considerably good.
    I hope this helps you.

  • Illustrator export into my own format?

    Hi,
    I saw nice plugin to export into DXFExport.aip
    Is tha possible to write custom plugin for export into my own format ?
    Is there any samples of such plugin available ?

    My export plug-in is almost finished. All kind of AIArtHandle are handled (except kTextFrameArt and kMeshArt still in progress).
    Layers and Groups: Illustrator layer and groups are exported as individual Graphic Model element.
    Path: Exports arbitrarily complex path (open/closed, fill or not).
    Placed Art: Exports placed art as an attached file (an png file) in the working directory.
    Raster Art: Export raster art as an attached file in the working directory.
    Compound Shapes: Exports compound shapes with non-zero and even odd fill rules.
    Masks: Supports illustrator clipping mask.
    Color: Rgb is the default space color.
    Color Management: Adobe's color management system is used to convert between Illustrator and my own model color space.
    Pattern Fills: Illustrator supports pattern fills, these are currently exported, fully supported. (Export as vector structure (recursive tree walk, or rasterize the pattern and export as an attached file).
    Gradients: Supports both linear and gradients with any number of stops, Illustrator supports customizable mid-points that are not yet converted to extra stops.
    Blends: depends on which blend is used.
    Multi view for any ArtHandle( vector, raster and more).
    Export file: xml file generated, used by a tierce apps.

  • Issue while exporting report in Excel Format

    Hello,
    I am facing problem while exporting the report in Excel Format. After analysis, I think that it could be due to two reasons, either we are using wrong versions of Jars, or we are using wrong API. Here is the code, approaches and problems we are facing. Please help.
    First approach we are using is:
    // using basic API
    import com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.ReportClientDocument;
    // get client document from crystal report API and open the report by specifying the report name, with path
                   ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
                   reportClientDoc.open( reportPath, 0 );
                   // give chance to extending classes to configure the report document by POJO or by sql parameter etc, just adding the parameters infromation using ParameterFieldController
                   configureReportDocument( reportClientDoc, reportMetadata, reportData, reportContext );
                   // get data source of crystal report
                   Object reportSource = reportClientDoc.getReportSource();
                   // export the data - we have also tried with MSExcel format
                   ReportExportFormat exportFormat =  ReportExportFormat.recordToMSExcel;
                   LOGGER.debug( "exportFormat[" + exportFormat + "]" );
                   ByteArrayInputStream byteArray = (ByteArrayInputStream) reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(
                             exportFormat );
    Problem Faced: Specified Excel format is not supported.
    Second Approach: We come to know that excel format is supported with new releases and with occa package.
    Then we tried with import com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument; It ask to set the ReportServer. When we are trying to set the server as
                   reportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
    Application is unable to find 'ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString' property. It seems like we are using some old jars. However we have downloaded the latest released jars for eclipse 2.
    Please help for it. Issue is to export the report in excel format, which is currently working fine for PDF. If this problem is related to Jars, please suggest the path to download the latest jars. We also looking for the latest jars like rasapp and rascore etc. But these are not available with Crystal Report for Eclipse 2 release.
    Waiting for urgent help. Thanks you..

    There is a workaround to move from 1.5 version to the older 1.4 version. But this could be specific to the browser setting the JRE version.
    Excerpts from sun docs:
    However, a user can still run older versions. To do so, launch the Java Plug-in Control Panel for the older version, then (re)select the browser in the Browser tab.
    Example:
    Assume you are running on Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Internet Explorer, have first installed version 1.4.2, then version 5.0, and you want to run 1.4.2.
    Go to the j2re1.4.2\bin directory where JRE 1.4.2 was installed. On a Windows default installation, this would be here: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin
    Double-click the jpicpl32.exe file located there. It will launch the control panel for 1.4.2.
    Select the Browser tab. Microsoft Internet Explorer might still appear to be set (checked). However, when 5.0 was installed, the registration of the 1.4.2 JRE with Internet Explorer was overwritten by the 5.0 JRE.
    If Microsoft Internet Explorer is shown as checked, uncheck it and click Apply. You will see a confirmation dialog stating that browser settings have changed.
    Check Microsoft Internet Explorer and click Apply. You should see a confirmation dialog.
    Restart the browser. It should now use the 1.4.2 JRE for conventional APPLET tags.
    Details are here
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/jcp.html
    My system (Windows XP) has the version 1.5_09 set as the default. However i just installed JRE 1.5_06 and would like to revert back to _06 as the default JRE..
    Will update if i find more information
