Exporting HD Slideshow from iphoto7.1.4?

I can't seem to figure this out.  Every time I create a slide show, put all the transitions music etc to it, then go to file>export the largest it will let me export is 640x480?  Can you not export a larger QT file? I have looked in the forums here and it doesn't appear anywhere.
DO I need to upgrade to ilife 11 to get this functionality? Does it even exist?

You can certainly export HD from iPhoto 09 or later very easily.
It's a while since I used iPhoto 08, but if I recall correctly, in the export options you can choose a variety of settings from Quicktime, up to and including HD.
Can you post screenshots of the Export dialogues? It might poke my memory a bit.
Otherwise:
Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie, on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price: PhotoPresenter  $29
PhotoToMovie  $49.95
PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

How can I export a slideshow from iPhoto to iMovie 09.  I try, but it only exports 211 out of the 311 photos I have in the slideshow I made on iPhoto.

how do i change the format to the right one?
Before you can decide what to do, you have to know what you are starting with. Sony MPEG-1 files would be converted one way while DivX or WMV files would likely be handled in another. Extraneous tracks can be removed directly with QT Pro but if you don't have QT Pro then there may or may not be other work around possibilities depending on the specific audio and video compression formats in use. The best place to start would normally be to double-clic the source file in iPhoto to open it in the QT Player. When it opens in the QT Player, check the "Inspector" window to see what it says on the "Format:" lines. This will tell you the type of audio and video content you are dealing with here. Then come and tell us so we can offer some specific conversion solutions.

  • I cannot export a slideshow from Iphoto to iTunes

I am trying to export a slideshow from iphoto to itunes so that I can burn it to a dvd.  The automatically sent to itunes is checked but the export button is not highlighted.

You are asking about a slideshow in iPhoto on your Mac, right? Then the iLife > iPhoto forum would have been the right one to ask your question. This forum is for iPhoto on IOS devices.
The automatically sent to itunes is checked but the export button is not highlighted.
The "Export" button will become active, when you select a size for your exported movie. Press one of the sizes , for example "Large", if you want to view the movie on your iPad or Apple TV.

  • Export my slideshow from Aperture (with music) to a CD

I'm having problems with exporting my slideshow from Aperture. I'm also new to the mac and aperture, so this could be part of the learning curve!
I would like to export the slideshow (with music) to be played on a non-apple computer via a CD. I see the export options, but they all seem to be specific to other apple products or a TV.
is it even possible to copy the slideshow to a CD?
    Thanks!

I see the export options, but they all seem to be specific to other apple products or a TV.
These export options are just guidelines to pick a suitable resolution and codec. If you pick one of them it will render your slideshow and export a Quicktime movie; then you move this movie to a folder and burn this folder to a CD.
If you want a movie that can be viewed on a display of anoter computer I'd go for the option with the highest solution and pick the full HD option: HD 1080p. All other options will result in higher compressed videos with less resolution.

  • I'm unable to export any slideshow from Iphoto 9.5.1?

After creating a slide show in the latest version of IPhoto with music attached, i am unable to export the slideshow as standard definition or high definition. The export progress bar pops up with a black screen but never moves or creates the show? Anyone have any ideas? I am on a Mac Pro on OS X 10.9.3.

Some folks have fixed this by reinstalling iPhoto:
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • When trying to export a slideshow from iphoto it is freezing at the end. what could be the issue?

We have a slideshow we created in iphoto. How do I burn it in idvd. I cannot get the export to finish, it stalls towards the end. We have less than 200 photos. We were able to do it once now it will not complete the export process. A ny help would be appreciative.

    Hi barbara10,
so far I do not know "Live Media Type", I guess Export your slideshow for "HD1080p" or for Codec: H264
    should be OK for iDVD.
This belongs to German Version of Aperture.
Did you create the slideshow? Was it a external slideshow?
    Hope this helps

    HELP??

    Hello David,
Are you running OS 10.7.2 Lion? Perhaps you have trouble with a video codec? http://aperture.maccreate.com/2011/08/25/aperture-3-will-not-play-videos-if-lion -is-installed-and-3ivx-video-codec-is-installed/
Look in your System Library and User Library if the 3ivxVideoCodec.component
    is installed.
Check in /Library/Quicktime  (System Library) and ~/Library/Quicktime (User Library)
If you are running OS Lion, then the Libraries are hidden by default.
The User Library can be revealed from the Finder menu by holding down the option (⌥)-key while selecting "GO"  till the Library appears in the drop down menu.
The System Library can be revealed  from the Finder menu by selecting "GO" -> "Go To Folder" and entering    /Library/Quicktime .
Look for 3ivxVideoCodec.component installed and remove it, if it is present.
Also look in both libraries for a duplicate Aperture media browser plug-ins, e.g.
    /Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser/Plug-Ins/iLMBAperture31Plugin.ilmbplugin/
if you are running Lion and still have iLMBAperture31Plugin.ilmbplugin, remove it, if
    LMBAperturePlugin.ilmbplugin is present.

  • How can i export a movie from a slideshow at 25p instead of 30p

I'm running on several Mac products, iMac, MacPro, MacBookPro, etc...
While i have finished a nice Diaporama (slideshow) in iPhoto version 9.6 for example on Yosemite 10.10.2,
the only question when i click on EXPORT is which format (e.g., 720, or full HD 1080 for exemple)
But before, i was lucky enough to be able to select the number of fps (e.g. 25 in Europe as you all know)
Now, since a while, this question just disappears ! plouf ! no more....
So, the fps is now by default the one for US, which is 30.. cool !! and incredible...
Does now Apple think that US is the only country in the world ??
While 30 frames is fine on a computer, it is not on a pal DVD...
Any comments from anyone around the globe would be fine ! :-)
    Thanks anyway
    Patrick

When exporting a slideshow from iPhoto for use in iDVD select 480p only.  iDVD doesn't use the other formats and struggles with encoding them down to 480p.
I'll also ask the Hosts to move this topic to the iDVD community where uses with iDVD will be more likely to reply.

  • Urgent advice needed for exporting a slideshow in iPhoto '09

    hi,
what is the best setting for exporting a slideshow from iPhoto '09?
I'll be burning it with iDVD and it will be watched on a large flat screen TV.
I WAS GOING TO USE THE .MOV option with the default settings but should I use the DV settings?
I've only got time to try it once.
    thanks

Honestly there is no answer for that until you do it. A mov will work perfectly fine. But there are variables: The quality and sharpness of the original photos. How they survive being compressed to a mov, how that mov survives being compressed to DVD format. The quality of the DVD player (and no, they are not all the same) and finally the crispness of the screen. If all goes well, yes it will look perfectly good. But you're not going to know until you do it.

  • Exporting photo show from Apple TV to MacBook

Is there a way to get a photo show that was created on an Apple TV to my MacBook Pro? The Apple TV belongs to a friend who used iTunes and her PC to create a photo clide show on her Apple TV and would like to be able to put it on a DVD. Can I somehow get it onto my MacBook and into iMovie??

Welcome to the Apple Discussion Forums Linda.
The slideshow created by the tv is in basic terms a bunch of photos and some fancy effects. Your friend already has the photos and you already have the fancy effects. If your friend can email you the photos or burn them to a CD for you, you can import them into iphoto. Once in iphoto you have more or less the same slideshow effects that you will find on the tv slideshows, so you can make the slideshows yourself very quickly without needing the tv at all, which is rather fortunate since there is no way to export the slideshows from the tv.

  • Ow do you burn a slideshow from i photo to a disc

How do you burn a slideshow from Iphoto to a disc.

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
    Other options:
    Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
    Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate

  • When exporting a slideshow, what does "current frame rate" mean?

I'm exporting a slideshow from iPhoto '11 and I'm using custom settings
I am wondering when you click the custom settings button
what does "current frame rate" mean?
does it mean use the current frame rate that it uses to let me preview the slideshow?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What happens to the slideshow other than giving you this error. Don't know what it means. However, several users have reported iPhoto crashing when trying to export a slideshow. You might search this forum for that to see if you're experiencing something similar. As far as I know there was no fix found.
Be sure to report it to Apple via via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Exporting a Slideshow with Titles

Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to export a slideshow from iMovie including the picture titles, but with the titles appearing as Subtitles on the DVD so that you could turn them on or off?? Seems like a simple thing but i have a feeling it can't be done.
As ever any suggestions gratefully received.
    Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz, 1Gb Ram, Superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I've never heard of that working; but I don't use iMovie for slideshows.
DVD Studio Pro allows you to add subtitles. Kind of expensive these days since it bacame part of Final Cut Studio...
