Exporting Health app data

I would like to use the Health app to record my daily blood glucose test results, but there doesn't seem to be any way to generate a report on the results for my doctor or export the data to a CSV or any other type of file. My doctor's practice is not set up yet to receive electronic results, so I still need to give him a hard-copy report. If anyone has figured this out, please let me know.

I had the same question. I couldn't figure out how to import xml data to Numbers or Excel for Mac 2011, but I found a way in LibreOffice using their Spreadsheet. I saved the xml file to the desktop, then opened a new spreadsheet in LibreOffice. Under the Data menu I selected XML Source. Click on the folder icon under "Source File" and find your xml file. In the window labeled "Map to Document", scroll down to "Record" and highlight it. This should highlight all the data labels related to your records (type, source, unit, value, etc.). In the "Mapped Cell" window, type "A1", then click Import. At this point, you can format as you like, or copy data to Numbers or Excel if you're more comfortable there.
Some notes on this:
(1) I couldn't find a way to edit the dates into a more readable format as M UND M describes for Excel. Since I measure daily, I just entered the date for the first day, then grabbed the lower right corner of the cell and dragged it down the column to fill in the dates myself. Or you could save the Libre file as a xlsx and then maybe M's instructions will work.
(2) Not sure if anyone else was this clumsy, but I had trouble finding a way to get the xml file in Health. You can't go straight from "Blood Pressure", "Heart Rate", etc. You have to go to "All" under Health Data and import a bunch of data you might not want. You can edit this out directly in the xml file (if you have access to Xcode or other software), or delete it after it's pasted into your spreadsheet.
(3) This is why I have 3 different types of spreadsheet software. None of them do everything I want!

  • Health App Data Source Order With Apple Watch-

    I discovered a very large difference between the number of steps counted by Health App and my other step tracking app Pacer.  Pacer was indicating I had 10,000 steps while HealthKit was reporting about 6000 steps.
    I then realized this was happening because of the order my data sources were for steps.  The order was:
    Apple Watch
    iPhone
    The problem is, the Apple watch does not track cycling as steps while the iPhone does.  Because of this, when the Apple Watch is first in the data source list for steps it doesn’t count those cycling “steps”.  I find this odd since Health App should be smart enough to merge the results; if the watch is reporting no steps and the iPhone is reporting 4000 steps, it should add the iPhone’s steps to the total.
    But, if I go in and change the priority order to:
    iPhone
    Apple Watch
    then, HealthKit reports the correct 10,000 steps.
    The strange thing is, if I’m not carrying my iPhone and have my watch on, HealthKit does properly merge the watch's steps into Health App even though the Apple Watch is second on the priority list.
    I’m  not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but it’s important to make sure your data sources are in the correct order.  I’ve gone in and made sure my iPhone is in the first position on all my stats.

    Today I did a full restore thanks to this post Health app has crashed, data gone. and some spare time to sit down and do it.
    After re-adding the apps to share their data the Health app appears to be working as it was before for me. Hope this helps.

  • Health App Data

    Is there a way to create custom data areas under the health app? I want to track knee flexion progress after total knee replacement and having a data collection area I can title "Knee Flexion" would be handy. Otherwise I have to use a current data area such as "Times Fallen" and just enter 117 for 117 degrees but it looks like I am falling down all day!
    Thanks, Richard

    Glad it wasn't just me!
    Thanks for replying - that way I at least know it is something to look at in the future. I'm building a new me now... waiting for apps to load that will support HealthKit

  • How do I correct wrong health app data?

    I've been entering my weight and one day I accidentally left out a digit so that instead of 175 my weight was 17. This throws off the graphs and average. Is there any way to correct (or delete) the bad value? I've read the on-line manual and done various searches without success.

    If you mean that the flash won't fire you need to press the icon that looks like a lightning bolt, then select the option you want, such as the lightning bolt with the letter A to activate the flash. See page 66 in the user manual.

  • Iphone6 health app lost data

    iphone 6, iOS 8.1.2
    The health app has lost all data and will not keep settings to show on data on Dashboard.
    I open the health app I get a "Dashboard Empty"  I go to the Health Data and set those items I want on the Dashboard to "show on dashboard".  As soon as I go back one screen the setting it changed to off.

    Hello there kwilson505,
    It sounds like your Health app data and settings keep reverting on their own. I would start by quitting both the Settings and the Health apps:
    iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

    Hello Ken, Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I can certainly understand why you would want to get your Nike+ FuelBand connecting to the new iOS 8 Health app. Currently we're working with Apple because due to an unspecified issue with Health Kit and the Health App, data sharing between those apps and other apps (including NikeFuel) is not currently enabled. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but I would keep your eye on updates for iOS 8, and the Nike+ FuelBand and FuelBand app.  Should you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know; I am here to help. Sincerely, Dante

  • Health App management tool

    Anyone else out there wish apple would release a tool to completely wipe all Health app data and start over? Over even do it for us? Clean slate? I have a feeling that'd solve so many issues we are experiencing with duplicate data, no data at all, trying to delete apps and data and the data really not deleting, Health apps with Gigs (GIGs!!!!!!) of data. Someone at Apple please listen. Everyone else with the issue, please add/like/increase this post so we can strive for a resolution (for me it's issues with WiThings and MyFitnessPal on an iPhone 6+). Thanks!

  • Health app is not letting me export data

    The message I get when I try to export my health data is:
    Export heath data
    Could not export data
    suggestions on how to fix this?

    Greetings substance12,
    Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
    If the Health app is not allowing you to export health data, first make sure you have an email address set up on your iPhone:
    Add an email account on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    If so, or if the error persists after adding an email, try these general application troubleshooting steps next:
    Restart the app
    Close the app and open it again.
    Restart your device
    Turn the device off and on.
    Update your device software and your apps
    Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    Update your apps:
    Open the App Store and tap Updates.
    If updates are available, tap Update All.
    If asked, enter your Apple ID password. The updates will download and install.
    You might need a Wi-Fi connection to update some apps.

  • Health App: How to work with exported xml?

    Hello,
    is there a simple way to process exported (xml) data from health app?
    I've tried it in Excel, but some of the collected data, like heartbeat rate, is strangely formatted. It’s a real pain to reformat and process that data in Excel, and it accelerates my heartbeat too ;-) .
    If someone knows a more simple way it would be nice if you can share it?
    Thanks a lot.

    You might have to tweak this code some to get it to work, but it should at least lay the groundwork for solving your problem:
    Code Snippet
    /* Declare an XmlNode object and initialize it with the XML response from the GetListItems method. The last parameter specifies the GUID of the Web site containing the list. Setting it to null causes the Web site specified by the Url property to be used.*/
                System.Xml.XmlNode nodeListItems =
                    MyListsService.GetListItems
                    (listName, viewName, query, viewFields, rowLimit, queryOptions, null);
    System.Xml.XmlDocument xd = new System.Xml.XmlDocument();
    xd.LoadXml(nodeListItems.OuterXml);
    System.Xml.XmlNamespaceManager nm = new System.Xml.XmlNamespaceManager(xd.NameTable);
    nm.AddNamespace("rs", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:rowset");
    nm.AddNamespace("z", "#RowsetSchema");
    nm.AddNamespace("rootNS", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap");
    System.Xml.XmlNodeList nl = xd.SelectNodes("/rootNS:listitems/rs:data/z:row", nm);
    foreach(System.Xml.XmlNode listItem in nl)
      listBoxProsjekter.Items.Add(listItem.OuterXml);
    I hope this helps!

  • Health app specific date data retrival is it possible

    On health app why cant i retrive data for a specific day, it only shows the graph. Only other way around this is to count all the data entrys for flights of stairs climbed that would take ages as i climbed a mountain. Is there a way of doing this.

    Hi Rachel,
    Once you open the Syndicator you can create only those fields which you want to be exported in the  "Destination Items" tab.
    Just right click and start creating . After creating the fields switch back to the Item mapping tab and you will find all the fields created in the "Destination Items".
    Now select the table from which you want the data to be exported from the Left hand side top of the screen . Your "Source Items" will automatically change to all the fields from the selected table .
    Now start mapping the Source and Destination . Once you are done goto File and Save the map ( This will make sure you can reuse the next time you log in) .
    The Free form search is always available to filter out your data . Once all your Filters are placed save the map and hit the execute button.
    The data should come in a csv format which can be opened in the form of an Excel.

    Vag Vignesh Shenoy

  • Health app not saving data

    when I enter my data on the built in health app it doesn't save let it use to. I would enter my information close it and reopen it and everything will be gone.. Does anyone else have this problem

    EdHDC,
    I'm sorry that I don't have a fix for your issue, but I did want to mention that if you end up in a scenario where you get things working and find that you have data prior to your fix that doesn't automatically get imported in, we have released an app specifically for importing data into HealthKit / Health App.  It requires data in a CSV (comma separated value) format currently, but that is the format that most apps provide for their exported files.
    The app is called Health Importer and more information is available on the App Store at:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/health-importer/id930943780?ls=1&mt=8
    Hope it's a helpful tool for you or others who come across the post!

  • Health App not collecting data

    I have a iPhone 6 and for the first three weeks the Health app worked just great. Now since about one week it doesn't seem to collect any data anymore. The dashboard just shows no data on steps, distance and stairs. Also all historical data is gone. I also have Fjuul and Withing apps, which both are counting steps like before so obviously there is nothing mechanically wrong with the movement processor. Any ideas what to do to get the Health app up and running again? Naturally I have rebooted the phone several times so that doesn't help.

  • Health app not importing data

    I have the Health app connected to UP (for steps and sleep), Withings (for weight, BMI, heart rate) and Lose It! (for calories and other nutritional data). It is importing the steps from UP just fine, but it will not import anything else. It used to import sleep from UP, but that stopped on Oct. 8; it used to import weight, but that stopped on Oct. 22. It never imported anything from Lose It.
    I am running the newest iOS and the newest versions of all of these apps (including the new UP 4.0, released today, and others on UP's message boards report their issues have resolved with the update - not mine). All of them appear to be connected to Health - that is, under Sources they are all there and 'turned on,' and each of the individual apps' settings shows them as exporting to Health.
    Anyone have any fixes? Ideas?
