Exporting HTML to PDF

Our department is upgrading to Dreamweaver 8. I would like to
ask the experts out there if this tool has the capability to export
the whole website into another format like pdf. The pages would
have to be linked like chapters in a book. If we could convert our
website to a pdf file and then post that file on our website, we
could then eliminate editing in a separate tool (framemaker) and we
could avoid inconsistancies between the two.

>>If we could convert our website to a pdf file
If you do that you won't have a website. You will have a PDF.
If all you
want is a gigantic PDF to post to a website generate it from
Framemaker.
Dreamweaver creates web pages (HTML, PHP, CFM, etc.) not PDF.
But I can't imagine why you want just one huge PDF instead of
an actual
website. Maybe if you tell us what your ultimate goal is we
can help you
figure out how to build a website to reach it.

    It would be nice if Ajax developers could export or save the
    content of the htmlcontrol or an iframe to a pdf document.
    I also beleive that AIR should have the ability to render PDF

  • Export from Acrobat PDF to HTML

    Is there any reliable way to export an Acrobat PDF file to HTML uising Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. When I try to do it from Acrobat, I get:
    Tables that are a total, horrendous mess, nothing at all like the tables in the original Pdf.
    Text that is randomly surrounded, for no apparrent reason, with span tags and completely worthless CSS. A single, uninterrupted sentence can have four or five spans, all with different CSS classes for no apparent reason. When you look at the four or five CSS classes, they all have the same, identical style attributes.
    Exporting it to RTF results in a mess that is no less horrendous.
    What I'm trying to do is take some rather lengthy PDFs (200 pages or more each) and use them as input to a RoboHelp WebHelp project. However, the output, whether I try an import into RoboHelp, an export from Acrobat Professional Extended, or one of several third party PDF converters is all so horrendous that it would be easier to completely retype the the 200 pages times sixteen or so documents than to attempt to cleanup the horrendous mess that results from an Acrobat export.
    Why can't Adobe get their products to work together? At this pont, I've just about reached the conclusion that it is very clear that nother should ever, for any reason, under any circumstances be converted to PDF unlesss you absolutely have the documents in the original format locked up someplace because you can never get anything meaningful and transportable out of Acrobat. Please tell me that, in this day and time, the Acrobat PDF files can actually be converted in a meaningful way.

    That's very true. However, you can create RTF documents with Word and WordPerfect and in this day and time, virtually everyone can read those, while they are ultimately transportable to a whole wide variety of formats, including HTML, without any significant degradation. If Adobe can't make PDFs transportable between document types in the same way, why on earth would anyone ever use the PDF format. All this hoopla about embedding video, sound, etc. is pretty much nonsense. You can pretty much do that in RTF, and few if any actually want to do it anyway.
    All I can say is, why does Adobe advertise that you can export to file types such as HTML and RTF from Acrobat PDFs when you obviously can't. Why do they include the options on their menus. This is obviously a case of false and misleading advertisement. This is the day and time of transportable documents. Adobe has chosen to make Acrobat Pro an anachronistic and archaic dinosaur.
    Once again, why create PDFs when they have such limited usefulness.

  • Why is InDesign exporting HTML instead of PDF?

    Hello,
    I recently upgraded to InDesign CC 2014.  My first project that I created is being exported as a HTML link and not the actual PDF file.
    Is it something I'm doing wrong?  Also, none of my saved file icons are showing with the InDesign file icon.  I've linked them with InDesign, however when I click on them they do not open and I get an error.  Is it possible this has something to do with it?
    This is incredibly frustrating as I need to this project printed.
    Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

    So, looks like I figured it out.  The file associations is what did it.  For some reason it was it was using Firefox to view the PDF.  I wondered if it was doing due to some update with Acrobat.
    So I reinstalled Acrobat.  I saw that when I exported the file the extension changed from .html to .pdf.
    So then I right clicked on the icon>properties and it let me change the associated program to Acrobat instead of Firefox.
    I'm not sure if that is what needed to happen, but it appears (at least for the moment) that everything is fixed.  I'm going to go tomorrow to see if I can get it printed.  Hopefully everything will have exported correctly.

  • Exporting Report to PDF in Landscape

    Hello All,
    After my Hyperion report finished, I exported the result into PDF. Due to having too many rows, HTML and Excel are not viable options. After the export finished writing to a PDF file, I checked the report and realized that unless I find a way to save the result in a Landscape mode, each page of the report will be broken into two pages. Does anyone know how to export reports in PDF format in a Landscape mode?
    Thank you,
    Seyed

    Hello Ameuras,
    Thank you for your help. I was able to use the information in your response and then save the PDF report in a Landscape format. However, this still prints each row on two pages. Next, I will try your other suggestion to see if using 'Scale To Fit' would solve this problem.
    Thanks again,
    Seyed

  • C# winform + crystalreportviewer to export HTML format  ?

    Hi,guys.
      I create a winform app with a crystalreportViewer[cr dev for vs 2012], and i found CR can export many formats,like pdf,word,excel.
      But I can't find "HTML" format. Although I know we can export HTML in the editor environment's preview mode, but my winform app can't export.
      What should I do?Many thanks!

    What you want to do is load a strongly typed report. This method of loading a report uses the ReportDocument component from the Components tab of the ToolBox.  When this component is added to the form, a dialogue box appears and prompts the Developer as to which type of Component to add to the form -> Crystal Report.
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
            crReportDocument = New test
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crReportDocument
        End Sub
    Remeber that a strongly typed report is compiled into the app exe. E.g.; use with care as the exe size will grow by leaps and bounds...

  • Problem with diacritics when export in Acrobat(PDF)

    Hello,
    I use reporting service from Sql Server 2008 R2 and I have a problem when I export in Acrobat(PDF) format. All the 'ș' and 'ț' are after export in pdf just a square.
    Can you please help me. Thanks.

    Hi Alin-g,
    SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services supports Adobe Acrobat 6 or later. So, please make sure your current Acrobat version meets the requirement.
    Besides, the font in the PDF format may be different with that in the HTML rendering extension because GDI font substitution in those formats behaves differently. If there is a font missing on the client, you might see characters replaced with boxes (□).

  • Reporting Services - Export to Fillable PDF

    Has anyone found a tool that will allow you to build a report and export it as a Fillable PDF?  We have customers who need checklists, etc. and we would love to generate this as a form pre-filled with data from our SQL Server but they need to be able
    to fill out the PDF.
    Sherry

    This is an interesting blog about how to "fabricate" the look of checks, but there isn't any out of the box capability to export an interactive pdf.
    http://blog.hoegaerden.be/2012/08/04/displaying-checkboxes-in-an-ssrs-report/
    What you seem to be asking is for a solution to export and be able to import pdf results. Which would lead me to say it's much more out of scope for just a "reporting services" forum. I couldn't find any 3rd party companies that offer this service
    but there is some pointers for building an application found here - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/processQuickStarts/qsRenderPDFForms.html
    I did find a few 3rd party tools that will scrape a pdf to put in a format to consume data.

  • Exporting HTML

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to generate HTML content out of selected articles on my documents via JavaScript. I though it would be as easy as exporting a pdf but apparently is not. The only solution I can think of is this: tag every Paragraph Style, export the XML, apply XSLT and keep only the paragraph styles from the articles I want and then get the HTML.
    I think I can do that (not sure how it will turn out) but it seems to me a lot of going around... Any other ideas for this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Hector

    Eric,
    Thanks, I'll try this way then. I'm kind of new to all this, so forgive if this is a stupid question. My main concern is this: how do you add, in the XSLT file, the CSS style for each tag, or paragraph style? (I have the CSS from exporting manually the HTML but not sure where to apply it here).
    And how do you get from Indesign, via exporting filtered XML and HTML and not an XML. Below my simple XSL with a line <xsl:output method="html"/> trying to export html but no success, still exports as xml. Again, I´m sure am missing something important.
    Also, how do you link an XSL to javascript?
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <!-- Edited by XMLSpy® -->
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:output method="html"/>
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="StylePruebacss.css">
      <html>
      <body>
          <xsl:for-each select="Root/Story">
           <div><xsl:value-of select="BT1"/></div>
          </xsl:for-each>
      </body>
      </html>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    Thanks again.

  • Visual Composer Export to Excel/PDF..

    Hello all,
    I have a question regarding using Visual Composer's Web API commands to export to excel/pdf etc. I've read the document "How to Export Data from Visual Composer" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/47fe4fef-0d01-0010-6f87-ed8ecb479123 ) and applied the steps but that is helpful for an individual data service which I was successful in doing.  In my example, for one view, I have multiple Data services pointing to different reports and have charts/graphs/tables against them. I want to be able to print all the Charts/Graphs in the one view and not individually.
    Does anyone have any insight into this? If you need more information I am more then willing to explain.
    Thank you for your help in advance.

  • Automate converting HTML to PDF

    Hi,
    I'm using my iPad to write documents using Byword that I export using HTML (export to PDF doesn't take account of HTML headers and rendering MathJax).
    Lets say that the text file therefore is called MathJax.txt and is in the location such that it's file path is Dropbox/Byword/MathJax.txt
    This HTML file is saved straight onto my Dropbox in the current location. (i.e. Dropbox/Byword/MathJax.html )
    If anyone can help, I'm looking for a way to convert the HTML to PDF with the MathJax rendered, either with cli, applescript or automator - just some way I can activate it with Hazel.
    I've seen wkhtmltopdf which looks like it would do the bit I'm missing, but I'm not very knowledgeable and have no idea how to use it.
    Any advice would be much appreciated!
    Freddie

    There is an app version in Google code…
    https://code.google.com/p/wkhtmltopdf/
    I downloaded it & opened it & it appeared to do nothing! However I also did right click > (or ctrl+click) Show Package contents… and navigated to Contents/MacOS/wkhtmltopdf. That is a compiled binary that will run in Terminal.
    To use the binary drop it into Terminal, and then drop your PDF into there (to enter the path) and then enter a file destination & name (ensuring a space after the PDF path).
    My command looked like…
    /Volumes/wkhtmltopdf/wkhtmltopdf.app/Contents/MacOS/wkhtmltopdf /Users/dru/Desktop/pdfroff\(1\)\ Mac\ OS\ X\ Manual\ Page.html /Users/dru/Desktop/test2.pdf
    The backslashes escape the spaces & other special characters, Terminal will deal with all that if you drag & drop to create the path. The hardest part is setting the destination - it's simplest to use an existing file & delete the end part & add a new name.
    Hit return & you get a PDF, I don't know if this covers MathJax formatting, I have never heard of that sorry.
    One good thing about this is that you can automate it with Automator, Hazel or a shell script etc.
    I expect you'll need further help so ask away.
    Frankly it is a little bit kludgy, you should really download the source & compile it, but that is rather involved.
    There are a few html to PDF apps, but they appear to be $20 up to several hundred & it isn't clear if they can automate the process.
    P.S. I tested this on my 10.6 system that has lots of tools installed, so I may have items that you don't, note any errors & I'll try to help, otherwise wait for a better idea.

  • Export book to PDF doesn't remember previous settings - CS5

    I've just noted a somewhat annoying "bug" in the book export.  When I export book to PDF--which I do a lot--I have to rename the file and reselect the type of PDF I'm exporting every time. It should remember the last settings I used.I believe in the past that it did.
    I also really hate that it always defaults to the interactive PDF--which I will probably never use. Half the time I forget to check that setting, rename the file, click OK, and then have to cancel and go through all the steps again because I forgot that the stupid thing can't remember that I want a Print PDF.  I have gone through this annoying misbehavior several times in just the last few minutes. Add that up over all the hours that I work on books and do that export and we're talking about a huge time waster. Am I missing a way to set a defaullt here?

    The book export or the regular export?  Mine definitely always goes back to interactive PDF.  Even after I've saved a print PDF several times.  It's really annoying.

  • Help with exporting data from pdf form

    I have about 100 pdf forms that I created in adobe forms central and distributed as a pdf form (rather than on the web). I am trying to export the data into a spreadsheet but when I export it, the fields are all jumbled in the csv file, as in they are not in the same order. I need to export the data all together so I'm going to the forms menu and selecting "manage form data" and then selecting "merge data files into spreadsheet". I tried exporting a single file but that gave me something really weird.
    Please help, I have a deadline next week to analyze this data and can't make sense of it once it is exported to a spreadsheet.

    Would you please share your form with me and send me one of your pdf forms and some of the csv files?
    You can share your form by doing the following:
    1. Click on the “Share” icon on the bottom left corner.
    2. Click on “Add Collaborator” on the popup menu.
    3. Enter [email protected] under “People to share with”.
    4. Set subject to "Export data from pdf form"
    5. Click the “Share” button on the bottom right of the dialog.
    Thanks
    Ken
