Exporting images in jpg format...
Hello everyone,
For some reason my iphoto is not able to export jpg format images, while initially it was doing so without any glitch whatsovever.
Any idea/solution???
Please help!!
Thank You.
in iPhoto select the photo(s) and export (file menu ==> export) as a JPEG
(select photos & export)
Are you exporting as JPEG as suggested?
it's not recognising my jpg files.
What is "It" that does not reconise the JPEGs you exported from iPhoto? have you tried Preview?

IPhoto 5 not exporting images as jpg anymore
Hi all
Yesterday I downloaded the trial version of Fireworks to be able to do some work on my web site. Previously to the download I could export images out of my iPhoto and have it displayed in my finder as .jpg . After downloading Fireworks the images are sent to finder with just the name I've given it with no .jpg. I've tried, in the export box, to change it to jpg when prompted but this doesn't work. Suddenly all the pictures I try to export are not accepted by my web site.
I tried loading the pictures to Fireworks and then saving them but again when looking in the finder under pictures there is no jpg, or any other attachment with the pictures.
I have since un-installed Fireworks and restarted m computer but the problem still exists.
Any thoughts?Michael:
Launch Image Capture and make sure iPhoto is selected as the application to launch when you connect your camera. IC's preferences is where you make that selection. Did you run any updaters shortly before this started?
As a note if case you have iPhoto delete the memory card after the upload I suggest you do not as there have been too many cases of incomplete uploads and complete erasures. It's safer to have the camera reformat the card. -
Export images (psd, jpg, etc) to obj.
Hi folks.
I have the CS3 Extended and make very good images with 3d appearance. But, at the end they are only 3D images (psd format), and I want to convert them into true 3D images(OBJ), to finalize some .
give the finish touches in my 3D editor.
Is there any way to do it in Photoshop? I cannot find.A cube?! Why aren't you using a true 3D app?
Photoshop cannot magically take a 2D image of an object and transform it into a 3D model. That is like putting a copy of 'Gourmet' magazine in your microwave oven and expecting a 3 course meal to come out of it in 3 minutes on the high setting. -
Compress or resize image in jpg format?
Hi guys,
I am developing a video rental web application using JSF, Spring, Hibernate and Tomcat 5. The administrator is able upload image. One of the page is to display a list of available DVD for rental just like ebay product listing page. The problem is that the administrator always upload the image with file size around 100K to 200K bytes and cause slow loading on the listing page, which will display 20 records (20 images). So if 100K bytes per image mean 2MB of images to download.
I am wondering how to compress and resize the image to a smaller resolution once the administrator uploaded the image. I saw eBay that each image is just 2Kbytes an image on the listing page.
Please forgive me if i ask in the wrong forum as i really don't know where to ask. Thank you !!
regards,
kmthienYou can do that in Java (you may need to use the -Djava.awt.headless=true option when running the server on headless Unix systems)....
You can use javax.imageio.ImageIO to read an image file to a java.awt.image.BufferedImage object, and write one back out to a JPEG file. And you can create a new BufferedImage simply and draw the original image at a new size on it, then save it. There's plenty of examples around the forums of doing all of that. -

Why are exported images (jpg) in LR3 so huge?
I am importing jpgs into Lightroom 3, work on them, and export them as jpg again, with a quality settig of 100% (the rest of the settings are the default ones).
The original, imported images are typically around 3MB in size, the exported images range anywhere between 6MB and 9MB!
I tried mimimizing the embedded metadata, but that had only the slightest effect. The file sizes are huge even if I crop the picture in LR, which is even stranger.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Any help is much appreciated! All I wanted was to save my images at the same quality level and roughly the same size during export as they used to be before I imported them into LR. I guess this proves much harder than I thought, and there is no definite answer.
I don't think anyone actually answered your question directly! When your camera creates a JPEG file from the RAW image it uses a quality level that is selected in the 'Quality' menu as High, Low, or Medium, or something similar. You are using the highest quality setting and want to use the same compression level and resolution for exported images. Suggested procedure:
1) Find a typical image that you have imported into LR and make sure all Develop settings are at default zero (0).
2) Export this image using JPEG, sRGB settings, 'Limit File Size to' unselected, 'Resize to Fit' unselected, 'Sharpen for' unselected.
3) Using the above settings set the 'Quality' setting and 'Export.'
4) Repeat as necessary by fine-tuning the 'Quality' setting until the "exported" file size is the same, or close to the "original" camera file size. That may be a number such as 74, or whatever!
5) You have now found the closest quality setting of LR's JPEG compression engine that matches your camera's! You can use this number with confidence, for any JPEG picture shot using that specific in camera 'Quality' setting (i.e. High) with that camera.
Please remember that LR is a non-destructive editor and therefore never over-writes your original image files (JPEG or RAW). Your original files will NOT degrade due to any work done in LR. This is only an issue for exported JPEG copies that you continue to “resave” after opening in other applications. If you never have to “resave them, they will never degrade! If you need to do extensive work on a specific image outside of LR, use the “loss-less” TIFF file format in LR’s Export options. Yes the file size will be bigger, but you can select ‘ZIP’ compression to reduce the file size somewhat.
A JPEG compression setting of 100 will not necessarily produce a "sharper" picture than a 70 setting. The biggest issue with JPEG compression is introduction of artifacts, which is well described and illustrated at the link PhotoGap provided. Also, keep in mind that full-size exports images are rarely viewed at 100%. For smaller enlargements up to 8” x 12” and when using resized exports for web posting, JPEG artifacts will be much less visible. -
Can we change the RTF export image format?
Hi,
If I embed a PNG or JPG in a Pages document and export the doc as RTF the images are rendered as PDFs.
This causes problems when I use textutil to convert the RTF to HTML.
Is it possible to specify that exported images retain their original format?
Thanks
JonathanMost word processors provide this functionality but Pages doesn't. Is it so difficult to understand that ?
It's not an omission but a deliberate choice.
This functionality which was available in the very old versions was dropped by Pages '06 or Pages '08.
It's not a new feature, it's not a surprising one.
So, I continue to be puzzled by questions like yours.
If you want to be able to export as html, check the availability of the feature before starting to use a tool.
Apple designed a product which has its own rules.
fruhulda tried to copy paste from Pages to TextEdit and got PDF objects. But she forgot to say that she applied the process to inline pictures. When pictures are floating ones, I'm unable to copy-paste a Pages's page into a TextEdit document.
I studied the contents of the clipboard after copying a page embedding a png picture.
It contain:
a RTF object embedding a PDF representation of the picture : «class rtfd»:«data rtfd
a PDF of the complete page : «class PDF »:«data PDF…
a TIFF object embedding the picture : TIFF picture:«data TIFF
a PICT object embedding the picture : picture:«data PICT…
an Unicode text: object
a «class utf8» object
a «class ut16» object
a «class RTF »:«data RTF… object
a string object
so, the target app is perfectly free to grab the format which it want.
TextEdit grabs the rtfd one but it was free to grab the rtf + the tiff one.
openOffice make an other choice and grabs only a text component.
From my point of view, the only odd behavior in this area is that Pages fails to normalize its proprietary clipboard when it pass to a non iWork app a clipboard embedding floating objects. This is not a normal behavior. According to Human Interface Guidelines, apps are supposed to do that.
I guess that there is a workaround to your problem.
Remove the pictures
Export as RTF
Apply Textutil to convert into Html
Open the html file in a wysiwig html editor
Insert the pictures where they are supposed to be.

i am on windows 8 platform, i used adobe elements to work on my image - the output is in dng format, how do i convert this to jpg format?
When you make a DNG that's like making another raw file, so you will need to convert the DNG file just like your original raw. Don't use the Save button in the raw converter. That's just a link to the DNG converter. Normally you would click Open instead and then save in the editor as a jpg or other image format of your choice.

I am using Lightroom 5.7, 64 bit with Windows 7 Professional. For no apparent reason, I now get an error message when I export a photo, say a raw image to a JPG. However, the exported image seems to be OK. But now I notice that my LR directory of folders in Library view does not show images correctly: If there is a folder with sub-folder(s), the folder will indicate 0 images, but the sub-folders show the proper number of images. What happened and is there a fix? I tried uninstalling Lightroom and re-installing, but problem persists.
Here is a screen shot of the error message:

Dear Sir/Mam
I want SQL query, function or SP which converts binary data to image (.jpg format).
I m able to convert image (.jpg format) to varbinary. But not able to convert vice versa.
thanks in advance.Binary data is binary data - "image" is only an intrepretation of binary data. Therefore your question makes little sense in the context of sql server since it does not have any facilities to utilize images. Since you provide no context, I'm
guessing that you are trying to retrieve an image stored in the database in a varbinary column and have your application use it as an image. If so, you should post your question to a forum that is specific to your development environment. -

useWhat OS is the database running on? If it is a *nix flavour, you can call out to image magick convert utility (it is pre-installed on most linux variants, and you can compile it from source for other unixes). So you would probably store the blob into a temp file on the database server, call out to the shell to execute convert, and then load a blob from the converted file. See http://imagemagick.org for more information.
If that is not an option, you might be able to use Java Advanced Imaging API from a Java stored proc to convert between those image formats. See http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/downloads/download-1_1_2.html
