Exporting images the correct mb size

Hi
I'm having trouble exporting files at the mb size I want. I go to edits and set everything on the maximum export size and quality, so in effect a 10mb file gets slimmed down to about half at 5mb and I canot figure why this happens!
I have shot in raw and I have some versions I need to export at the original or largets files size, aperture should do this surely?
Thanks

I normally edit jpegs just as they are, in versions, this should be fine I think?
Yes.
Also I find frustrating, when exporting, its always trial and error before I get the correct file size I want by adjusting the edits presets backwards and forwards, I suppose there is no default way of telling whcih size the file will be until this is dine I wonder? Its take a few goes before I know what size the file will be and then I can get on and export the whole project.
No, because for  jpeg compression  the file size depends heavily on the amount of detail in the image. The resulting file size is hard to predict.
If you have GraphicConverter, you could use it as an external Editor to export the images at a given File size. In GraphicConverter you can set the desired file size of the exported jpeg. I rarely use this, for me the image quality is usually more important than the file size.

  • Selecting the correct lot size...

    Hi,
I have some problem in selecting the correct lot size, please help me solve it.
The requirement of raw materials per month is 100nos. But the vendor cannot supply them in qty required by us but supply can happen in 1000nos. I cannot purchase all the quantities as materials cannot be kept in store for long period.
Which type of lot size is suitable for this type of scenario. Is there any SAP standards available or configuration is required?
    Regards,
    Pavan

    Hi Pavan,
This is not a lot size issue  , but a process issue.  You cannot choose a lot size unless you are clear what is the qty for which you expect  PR in this case?
Once that is clear,  you  will get lot size as needed
    cheers

  • Problem exporting image to specific file size

I've had some professional images shot and I can see from the file size in Aperture that they range from 13 - 73 mb. I need to submit them as 72dpi and 300dpi files and they must be between 1 & 3 mb in size.
I'm having no problems in exporting them at the correct dpi but the file sizes come out between 451kb and 1.8kb: 3 of the 6 images are too small, ie under 1mb.
What I'm doing is 'export version', then choosing the preset option of 'jpeg original size', editing it to the dpi I want, setting the image quality at a max of 12.
How can I get these file sizes to be bigger?
Thanks, and please help me quickly because I've a submission deadline approaching!

Well that's interesting Ernie. I did as you said, but also exported an image while I had the settings at 4288 x 4288 pixels. The resultant file size at that setting is 1.4MB. The file size when I went back to 'original size' is 795KB, exactly the same as before.
So I thought - if I can go above original size in that way, then can I alter the % to be over 100? I tried at 150%, which it accepted, and I've now got a file size of 1.3MB.
So I guess I've got what I wanted - not that I really understand it, because 'original size' clearly isn't original size at all!
Sorry Leonie - I didn't answer your question - they haven't given me a specification for pixel size as in 4288 x 4288: only 300 & 72dpi, a file size of 1-3MB, and a they must be JPGs.
And thanks for your help Frank - I've tried starting out with JPGs and with TIFFs as the photographer supplied me with both. I'd cropped some of the images but not others. I appreciate you offer of having a go with my images, but I think that - as I can go to over 100% - I've got it sorted now! Just hope there's no deterioration in image quality.
    Many thanks everyone!

  • Web module exports all the different preview sizes

Trying out the web module - I select a flash template with extra large previews. When I export to Dreamweaver, not only are the Extra large previews exported but also large, medium etc. This means that if I upload to my server I will use far more space than necessary. Can I prevent this? Or can I simply delete all but the extra large pictures?

When exporting a Flash gallery it does export three sizes. Those three sizes are "relative" to the "preview size" setting, which you could kind of think of as setting the size for the "largest" of the three. When the gallery is loaded into a browser, the gallery automatically detects the size of the window, looks at the rendition sizes available, and then downloads the largest rendition size that will fit into the window. It then does some pretty sophisticated pre-fetching of the other images of that size based on user behavior (linear vs non-linear browsing of the gallery). The gallery does not download the other renditions at all - unless the end user changes the size of their browser window such that a different rendition size should be used. The gallery does not real-time scale the images inside Flash - except in the case where the browser window is made too small for even the smallest rendition, in which case it will scale down the image in real time (this is why your "trick" works). In Beta 4, the gallery threw scroll bars on the images themselves if the window was too small. I think the 1.0 approach is much better.
Granted this takes up extra room on the web server, (pretty cheap these days though) but if there were only one rendition, it really should be a size that will fit on 800x600 monitors - which is still well over 10% of web users, which would mean it would need to be pretty dang small given OS chrome, browser chrome, headers, etc - and then if you had thumnails across the bottom... Is all this overkill? When I look at galleries like the one at http://www.computer-darkroom.com/antarctica_2007/index.html in a maximized window on my hi-res monitor, I grow to really love the multiple rendition approach.

  • How can I find the correct file size of a layered Photoshop document?

I need to send layered PSD files by email (Mac's Mail), and I don't use services like Dropbox. My ISP allows a maximum file size of 5 MB. I reduce the file size by reducing it to 8 MB/channel, 150 ppi and reducing the maximum size dimension to 10 inches. I'm using CS6 on a Mac.
If I check the file size using Get Info, I get 9.4 MB.
If the file is nested in a folder, the size is likewise, 9.4MB.
If I attach the file to an email, I notice at the bottom left the file size is given as 12.0 MB.
If I send the PSD layered file to myself, I find it uploads and dowloads quickly. On the email itself, it says, "1 attachment, 923 MB".
On my Mac "MAIL" folder, it says the the file is 1.2 MB.
If I calculate the file size mathematically, I get a size of approximately 4.3 MB. That is not counting the individual layers or the mask stored in Channels, for which I don't know the calculation.
This is a total of 6 measurements of the file size of my attachment, 5 of which differ.
    Is one of these correct?

I'd say 9.4 mb is correct. Email attachments always put on a lot of weight, so 12 mb as an attachment is probably right too.
Why don't you use a free service like Filemail? It's very easy to use, and you dont't have to sign up to use it.

  • I am unable to select the correct paper size when printing photo's in iPhoto 11. When I select the paper size in the custom window for 4x6 prints the prints only appear on an 8 1/2x11 page. My Mac is a year old iMac running 10.8.2.

I am unable to print 4x6 photo's using iPhoto 11. When I do they only print out on lettter size paper even though I enter 4x6 in the custom window in the print size menu. My older Snow Leopard system using iPhoto 9 the paper size window offered a 4x6 paper size which worked well.

Selecting paper size in the first sreen tellis iPhoto what papery you are going to use - it does not tell the printer what paper to use - printer specific options on on the last (second or third if you customize the print) screen where you tell the print any specifics like paper source (typically printers need to you tell them where a specific paper is loaded - they do not really know the sizes in each paper tray)

  • How and where to get the correct message size in XI ?

    Hi,
I need to get the message size in bytes in the following stages in SAP XI. Please help me.
    1. Message size after adapter engine
    2. Message size before entering the integration engine
    3. Message size after transformation/mapping in integration engine
I appreciate your input in this regard.
    Regards
    Gopal

    1. Message size after adapter engine
After adapter engine at receiver side, the message is out of XI and you cannot check the size then. At sender side, after adapter engine would mean inside integration engine. You may check it in sxmb_moni trace or Copy the source of payload in notepad, save it as xml and check the size.
    2. Message size before entering the integration engine
That means inside adapter engine. You may use RWB -> Performace Monitoring
    3. Message size after transformation/mapping in integration engine
This is as 1st case inside integration engine. Use the same method as in case 1.
    Regards,

  • How can I get surround sound to export through the correct speakers?

    Hello there!
I am experienced with Soundtrack Pro and can successfully export 5.1 surround.
I'm moving over to Logic Pro to try out 7.1 surround, but I can't even export 5.1 surround successfully since dialogue for example comes out of all speakers, yet I've panned it to the front centre speaker. Please note I do not have surround speakers set up with my computer as whenever I do connect to my amplifier it just does everything through all speakers (whether using Soundtrack Pro or Logic Pro). I am using the visual surround panner as my guide. Either way the surround export in Logic Pro is not what I'm doing within the pogram.
I believe I've got everything set up properly:
In Preferences-Audio-Devices-Core Audio I have device Sunflower (16ch)
    In Preferences-Audio-Output- I have 5.1 (ITU 775) or 7.1 (3/4.1)
All tracks are set with the surround panner and I can use just like in Soundtrack Pro.
I can bounce the individual stems properly.
It's just not in proper surround sound.
    Where am I going wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    EMB -
What is the function of Sunflower in your work flow? Usually its used to route audio between programs. In the case of Logic, you simply need to route to the outputs for things to work right.
I guess we should start with your interface - do you have 6 actual separate outputs that you can use to monitor your surround sound?
(NOTE: I no longer do surround, but used to). In my case, I used a RME Fireface 800 which had a bunch of analog outs. I used outputs 1&2 as L&R, 3&4 as Center/Sub, and 5&6 as Rs/Ls. Each of these outputs was connected to a monitor so that I could mix in surround.
When you say you are bouncing 5.1 successfully, do you mean it is creating 6 separate files?
BTW - what mechanism are you using to playback your surround files? I used to use a PC program to burn DVDA's, which I then played back on a DVDA-capable disk player.
If you are looking to encode the files so that they will playback on a traditional surround sound system, you would need to put them through a Dolby Digital encoder. If you have had Logic for a few years, you MAY have Compressor which can do this. Otherwise, Dolby Digital encoder software can be somewhat expensive.

  • In Mac OS X Mail some emails are not displaying the correct font size.

I have set my Mail to display email messages (Inbox) to Courier 13 point (easy to read) and most messages are displayed that way, however I often get emails that are displayed in unreadably small and often colored type. I don't understand why this is ... could someone explain how to fix this? Thanx.

The email was probably sent from Outlook as RTF or HTML. You can tell Mail to display those as plain text as well by opening Terminal and typing this command (quit Mail first):
defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool TRUE

  • Finding the correct render size and output

    Hey guys,
I took a project in After Effects after having some experience in the past with it, and haven't had any problems up until the most crucial part. I am using AE CS5, and am making a 1.5 minute highlight video for a company event. This video will be played on a large screen in a 100 person conference room by an employee's Windows laptop with limited video software. The file I want to output has to be fairly small and in a very accessible file format.
They want me to output it for Windows Media Player, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get from A to B. I can output in .mov format fine, but the file is way too big. The client will accept .mov, but I would be looking at a file that is 1 gig or more, which is unacceptable. I do not know the right compression to use with Adobe Media Encoder or After Effects to get to where I need to be, and this thing has a deadline.
Bottom Line: I need a 1.5 minute video from After Effects in .wmv, .mov, or .avi rendered in a couple hundred mbs or less. How can I do this with Mac Adobe CS Master Suite? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'd put it on a DVD. That will give you the best chance of smooth playback on marginal equipement. Do you have access to DVD burning software?

  • Exporting to PDf reduces font size of one item only

I am using VS 2010 with the latest CR release. Within my crystal report I have a barcode (using IDAutomationHC39M) with set font size of 10. When I click on the "Export" button and choose PDF, all of the text stays the same except for the barcode which gets reduces to a font size of like 3 or 4 (its really tiny).
I can print it using Adobe PDF and the Barcode will stay the same font size of 10, but I want to avoid that if possible.  What do I have to do to make the barcode export with the correct font size?

See if the KB [1218753  - Font size decreases when exporting or scheduling report to Adobe Acrobat (PDF)|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233313338333733353333%7D.do] helps.
You will have to use it as a guide as it does not specifically address CRVS2010, but the patern is eh same...

  • Illustrator not exporting at correct pixel size...

Hi, im having trouble setting up an illustrator doc that exports at the correct size so i can work with exported elements in photoshop, using CS5 for both.
What i am trying to do is set up a wireframe illustrator doc for creating iphone 4 artwork, the iphone4 screen size is 640px x 960px (326ppi).
So, i have set illustrator to measure units (general, stroke & type) in pixels, then created an artboard 640 x 960. If i draw a shape to fill the artboard then export it, the exported image is 2892px x 4348px
Similarly, if i create an image in photoshop thats 640px x 960px, then open that image with illustrator, the artboard thats created for it is 141.35px x 212.025px
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? and how i can correct it so that my pixel measurements match in both programs?
    thanks
    Richard

Hi justjoshuasp and welcome to the forum,
First, did you register to the Adobe forums just to respond to this 7 months old thread?

Third, what do you expect to happen when changing the "Document Raster Effect Settings". The OP didn't mention  anything about using raster effects and unless such effects are used these settings will make no difference.
Forth, while your statement about higher ppi adding more clarity is correct, have in mind that this is valid mostly when comparing the same size with different pixel density, otherwise your general conclusions and logic is wrong. The major difference between different pixel densities is not clarity but the size of the pixels and thus the size of the final image - the clarity is  by-product of this. In order to define clarity you have to add the viewing distance in the equation. I have created images for billboards and huge digital murals with pixel density of 10 ppi and I can assure you that all images with such sizes are created with similar pixel density. According to your logic they should be completely unclear and impossible to see comparing to images displayed on i-phones.
When creating for phones and other small displays, in order to see exact details of the final raster image with nothing less or more, the vector graphic in illustrator has to be zoomed to the same physical size on your screen that Photoshop is displaying at 100% zoom using an image with the final pixel dimensions. it is also a good idea to have the image on an additional window zoomed out to the real physical size of the phone screen to get the feel of the final physical dimensions. But because desktop monitors don't have the high pixel density of the phones, the detail will be lost when displaying the real size. Moving a little bit away from the screen to Increase the viewing distance when looking at the larger image with all details in it, can very well approximate the final experience.

  • Exporting image coordinates and size

I'd like to be able to export image position and percentage size for all pictures in a document (the purpose is to import this information into a database to facilitate autocreation of the douments later on), I've done this before for Quark files by processing the report files but InDesign doesn't have this information. I'm working with InDesign CS5 on OSX and have very little experience of AppleScript - I've had quite a good browse around but to no avail, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Generating a report for images has been done hundreds of times before But of course, never exactly the way you want it to.
This Javascript is based on one I wrote for a similar request; it only needed minor tinkering to fit your purpose.
