Exporting iTunes Library to desktop?

Hi guys,
How would I go on about creating a folder that has all the tracks in my iTunes Library on my desktop? I need to do this as Ableton Live cannot locate the tracks that are burned from commercial CDs into the iTunes lib.
Any ideas?
Cheers.
G4 Dual 867   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

It's Live 5. It sees the folders that I copied the Aiff and Wav files and their content but the actual tracks that are burnt from commercial CDs don't come up. Strange..

  • Can I move my iTunes music to a device with a different Apple ID using iTunes library on desktop?

I'm going to be getting a new iPhone real soon and I'm going to create a new Apple ID. The one that I'm currently using now will be handed over to another with respected agreements. I was just wondering if I could still move the music purchases with this ID to my phone that will have a different one using iTunes library on desktop.
    Possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. No "yeah, I have this problem too" posts because that is completely unhelpful, thank you.

You can move the song files into a different iTunes library and sync them to a new device, but they will remain associated with the original Apple ID.

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Exporting itunes Library

    Hi,
I'm attempting to transfer my iTunes library from a tiBook running Tiger to an Intel Imac running Leapard. I'm using this procedure: On the tibook, I went to iTunes/File/Library/Export Library and saved the .xml file to the Desktop. I then restarted the tibook while holding down the T key and transferred the file to the iMac. After fumbling around I managed to import the file into iTunes on the iMac, but only the names of playlists were transferred. The .xml file i exported from the tiBook is only 1.5MB. I have about 880 songs, as well as audiobooks and movies in iTunes on the tiBook. It seems to me that I'm going astray at the first step, exporting the iTunes library on the tibook. On the tiBook, in iTunes/Preferences/Advanced I've selected to keep the iTunes music folder organized and to copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library. I also consolidated the Libray before I exported. Thanks

Oops. More information: I transferred the file using IP over Firewire.

  • Export ipad library to desktop

how i can export ipad songs library to my desktop

If the songs were purchased through the iTunes app that is on the iPad. Then all you need to do is load up iTunes on your computer. Connect your iPad up. When it appears down the left hand side, right click on it and then choose from the drop down menu, TRANSFER PURCHASES and then all the content, music etc will be transferred onto your computer.
If the songs were added off of CDs or were on your computer, then the library and associated content will be backed up already on your computer. In the following locations:
Location of the iTunes library files:
    Mac OS X:
    /Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library
    /Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml
    Windows XP

  • Tried to import iTunes library from desktop to laptop via Homesharing but everything didn't import.  How do I get missing content?

The whole story: I tried to transfer my iTunes library via Homeshare from my desktop to my laptop but not all of my library imported.  Both computers are authorized and almost all of the 99GB of music was imported from my own cds. I couldn't tell what was missing and I figured a computer person would have an easy way to figure this out.  In the meantime, I added about 20-25 more cds to the library on the laptop.  I had a computer guy come out because I wanted to merge the two libraries so I can get rid of the desktop.  He dragged and dropped several folders onto the external hard drive and then dragged and dropped those into my music folder on the laptop.  Now I have a big mess!  I have tons of duplicates, but the entire library didn't duplicate so I am still not sure if all of my music made it over. He wants to delete all of the duplicates but I explained that I don't want to break up albums and I had already gone through the process of finding "exact duplicates" and deleting those on the desktop before I started all of this.  I talked to a Geek Squad guy at Best Buy who suggested I delete everthing from the laptop and start over.  He wants me to open iTunes on my desktop and select all, then drag that to a new folder on the external hard drive.  Then reinstall iTunes on the laptop and drag and drop that folder into it. I have no idea what to do at this point.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Please know that I am not very computer literate so please type slowly so that I will understand ;-)  Thanks
Sidenote:  I did sign up for IMatch and had Apple scan both libraries.  Not all of my music showed up there either.  I am missing entire albums, etc. and I have not reached the maximum limit, 25,0000 songs. Should I purchase TuneUp Media to fix any metadata once I get my complete library onto my laptop?  I just want my entire library together, in one place so that I can move forward and back it up properly. Thanks for any help.

Delete whatever was imported to the new computer via HomeSharing.
Stop using HomeSharing to move content.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
    Launch iTunes.
Everything in iTunes on the new computer will be exactly as it was on the old computer.

Although I have downloaded the movies to my Ext HD, have left my itunes library on my desktop main drive. Is there a way to add more movies without slowing down my computer?

  • How to export itunes library to mp3 (names & folders intact)

    Hi,
I cant seem to find a solution to my problem. A family member has her music all stored on iTunes, however she now needs it taken off her old laptop. She is wanting it converted to mp3, is this possible?
I read I can select the tracks and export to mp3...but I would like to keep the track names and folder names intact. Basically, I would like an exact copy, but as mp3?
Is this possible? Even if I need software, I dont mind...hope I explained that well enough.
Thanks in advance, Im a total itunes noob.

There are two slightly different questions in there...
Moving an iTunes library to a new computer
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
    Converting media to mp3
Generally you don't need to convert media files to a different format but if you plan to use an mp3 only player then it may be necessary. Converting from one lossy format to another will lose a bit of fidelity. You should only convert files of a different format, and there is no point converting to a higher bit rate, so it may make sense to use a smart playlist to select specific files to target for conversion together, e.g. 256k aac files to be converted to 256k mp3. The new files will have the same filenames (will a different extension) and be stored in the same folders as the originals, and the library will contain duplicate copies of each track. If you want to permanently swap formats and replace the originals then my script ConvertFormat should do the trick.

  • Replacing old iTunes library on desktop with newer one from Laptop?

I have two libraries. My original's on a desktop that was linked to an iPhone 3s. When I got a 4s, I setup a new one on a laptop because my desktop was not available for several months.  So, I setup new library with 4s and have it configured the way I want it.  Is there a way to replace the old library on desktop with the one from the laptop?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find my exact problem.

Move the entire library to the desktop, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down, and point it to that library. If the library contains rented movies, they won't play on the desktop.

  • Transferring/Copying iTunes library from desktop computer to laptop

What is the best way to move my current desktop iTunes library to my laptop?
I have the latest version of iTunes on the laptop, which has moved music from it to iTunes. There are about 50 songs on this laptop library, but on my desktop computer there is much more.
I want to make sure that I add the current iTunes library contents to the laptop library. Is there a simple solution to this question?

I'm trying to move my music to an external hard drive and I'm a the step where I'm supposed to go to File - Library - Consolidate Library and I don't have a consolidate library option. All I have is: Back Up to Disk, Organize Library, and Export Library. I'm using iTunes 9. Is Export the same?

"I'm a the step where I'm supposed to go to File - Library - Consolidate Library and I don't have a consolidate library option"
    It doesn't say that.
    This article -> http://support.apple.com/kb/hT1751
    says,
"5 Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
6 Select the option to "Consolidate files."  Note: If you recently updated to iTunes 9, you might want to consider selecting the option to "Upgrade to iTunes Media organization." This updates the file organization of your iTunes Media folder."
