any old music that has the protection on it will not transfer. nothing you can do but move forward... apple was forced to remove the protection and thats why new music will transfer

  • Exporting Itune songs onto a compact flash card

New member, new owner of iPod. Is it possible to export songs onto a CF card? How about iTunes purchases? If it is possible, how do you do it?
    Thanks

You should be able to export the music files onto a CompactFlash card the same way you would copy any other files. You just need to find where the files are on your hard drive (which should be your iTunes music folder.)

  • Itunes not converting music files.

    i just don't understand itunes.
so when i installed itunes onto my computer so i could upload the music onto my slvr, it converted SOME of my previoud audio files that were in windows media player. but it didn't take them all, infact it took a little less than half. and i can't figure out how to get them on the itunes library.
i know i've probably overlooked a simple task but whatever. can someone please point out why i'm an idiot, and tell me how to do this?
    thanks.

Well, this question really belongs in the iTunes forum, which is where you will get fast answers.
Just go to iTunes Preferences.  Click on the General icon.  Set When you insert a CD to Ask to Import CD.  Click on Import Settings.  Set Import to MP3 decoder.  Make sure you're using Good Quality.
This should deal with your CD's.
With your current music, as long as it does not have DRM restrictions (older iTunes Music did), select the song, right click on the song (or group of songs), pull down to Create MP3 version.

  • Export Itunes music to MP3

Is it possible to export Itunes music to MP3 files? If so, what is the process to do this from Itunes. Thanks.

I thought that was for importing?
It's not just for importing. The import setting controls the format available for the convert option. Once converted, move the MP3 files as needed; their location can be found by right-clicking them.

I should say that I am doing this on the iPhone4 and not a laptop.

I believe that there is an app called MxTube that lets you download high quality youtube videos to your iPhone

  • Export in MP3 to SD card

My car has two slots for SD cards with music. The cards must be formatted in FAT32 with songs in MP3 format. If I create a Playlist with auto tunes, how would I export this in MP3? I figure I can get them on an SD using some sort of reader. I've gone thru iTunes and just can't find a command to export

    Razzman,
I have a similar setup. You can drag and drop files directly from the iTunes Library main window to the SD Card as it shows in the Finder.
In my setup i have an SD card named 'PODCASTS'. I just drag and drop songs from iTunes Library Window to the SD Card icon in the Finder, and it copies them onto the card.
Just size the main iTunes window so you can see your SD card on the desktop to the right. You can drag and drop things from iTunes right onto the SD icon in the Finder.
Fat32 has a limited number of files it can take at the top level directory, so you might want to create folders on the card and put the songs in there. I can get hundreds more songs on an SD card that way, and my Sony car stereo treats the folders as 'Albums'.
    Good luck!

  • I want to export only MP3 formatted songs to my SD card.

I bought a new power pod 360 speaker that will play music on a SD card.  It only supports MP3 format, and I changed the format on all of my iTunes music library today.  It actually left the original and added the new version underneath.  However, I am unable to export only the MP3 songs to the SD card.  Can anyone help?

Good, you have rectified your past mistakes.  In the future, please make sure that all music that you purchase, rip, or otherwise acquire is in MP3 format, and you will avoid this problem.

Put your Music library in Songs View, and look at the Kind column.  (If you don't have a Kind column, enable it via View > Show View Options.)  Any song with a Kind of MPEG audio file is an MP3.

  • How to export itunes library to mp3 (names & folders intact)

    Hi,
I cant seem to find a solution to my problem. A family member has her music all stored on iTunes, however she now needs it taken off her old laptop. She is wanting it converted to mp3, is this possible?
I read I can select the tracks and export to mp3...but I would like to keep the track names and folder names intact. Basically, I would like an exact copy, but as mp3?
Is this possible? Even if I need software, I dont mind...hope I explained that well enough.
Thanks in advance, Im a total itunes noob.

There are two slightly different questions in there...
Moving an iTunes library to a new computer
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
    Converting media to mp3
Generally you don't need to convert media files to a different format but if you plan to use an mp3 only player then it may be necessary. Converting from one lossy format to another will lose a bit of fidelity. You should only convert files of a different format, and there is no point converting to a higher bit rate, so it may make sense to use a smart playlist to select specific files to target for conversion together, e.g. 256k aac files to be converted to 256k mp3. The new files will have the same filenames (will a different extension) and be stored in the same folders as the originals, and the library will contain duplicate copies of each track. If you want to permanently swap formats and replace the originals then my script ConvertFormat should do the trick.

  • Help ! iTunes Wont Sync Youtube Converted Music Into 5th Gen iPod :-(

I've tried several times to sync Youtube converted music over to the iPod, everytime the grey circles pop up. What can I do to fix this ?

What are the details of the MP3 format?

  • Converted iTunes MP3 Files Won't Play in PowerPoint

Help! I had music on my laptop before owning an iPod, and when I loaded iTunes all my music files converted to iTunes. I have several PowerPoint presentations that run to music, and now the songs won't play in the presentations. I converted the iTunes files back to MP3 format, but they still won't play in the PowerPoint presentations.
How can I get these songs, which I owned long before I loaded iTunes, to play in my presentations? Everything was fine until I loaded iTunes. I am extremely frustrated--those presentations represent WEEKS worth of work, and now they are useless.

Where did you get them? Are they DRM'd?

how would i be able to convert music files, like wma to mp3 on my mac

If the music was just purchased on the iPod from iTunes Store, then sync with iTunes. You will be prompted to transfer purchased items to iTunes. You can also re-download prior purchases directly in iTunes: Download past purchases.
Otherwise, you will need a third-party utility for the chore such as Pod To Mac or Pod To PC.

  • How can I export my iTunes lib ray to an SD card

I'm trying to export songs from library to an SD Card in my VW CC.
Is there a good way to do so other than selecting the folders in the finder?
    Thanks,

Drag the tracks from the iTunes window to the card in a Finder window.  Note that most car players will end up playing according to file name order.  You can, however, rename files so they appear in the desired order.  There's probably scripts or tools to facilitate that (check Dougscripts web site).

  • Is there a way to export all of my music from my hard drive to an external drive, connected to my computer and have iTunes still work with the music library located on the external drive?

I do not have enough room on my hard drive for all of my music collection and want to export the music files to my external 300GB hard drive rather than purchase and configure a new, larger hard drive for my computer.  Can I export all of my music library to the external drive and configure iTunes to always store music there, and operate seemlessly with the music library on the external drive?
