Exporting keynote to iDVD audio is out of sync with presentation

I am working in Keynotes '09 I have a presentation that is time perfectly when I run the slide show. I have a totally different problem when sending it to iDVD or to Quicktime the recorded audio is out of timing with the presentation. I tried everything but nothing seems to be working, Tech Support can't seem to help me out. The problem is not within Keynotes as far as I can tell. It plays fine in Keynotes. It is happening in the export via QuickTime or to iDVD. Does anybody have a clue as to how I can resolve this issue. Audio is checked when syncing there is sound in iDVD it is completely out of sync with the bullets point and overlapping spoken text from sentence to the next. I used an AAc Encoder on the spoken text synced into itune placed spoken text in to keynotes. should I have used MP3 encoding? that is the only thing I have not tried.

Hi Steve,
I'm having a similar, if not exactly the same problem. I often download files from my Beyonwiz PVR, convert them to mpeg and DV files using MPEG Streamclip (with Quicktime MPEG playback component), then burn a disc with iDVD. Since upgrading to Lion, I notice that the audio in these files, and the burnt DVD in particular, can be slightly out-of-sync with the video. Although the effect is slight, it's completely unacceptable in my book - its like trying to watch something that been badly dubbed. I find it to be a very jarring effect to watch voices and intonation out of sync with the picture.
I'm not sure where the problem lies - is it Quicktime, MPEG Streamclip, and/or iDVD ?

  • Audio out of sync with presentation (not using full motion)

When I preview or publish a project using Captivate 5, the audio is out of sync with the presentation. I am not using any full motion recording, which I know has caused audio/video sync issues in previous versions of Captivate. The audio is slide specific, with a separate audio file for each slide. (In other words, I'm not trying to break a large audio file over many slides.) When each slide is viewed individually -- in the workstation, in the preview window, or in the published version -- the audio is synced just fine. The problem arises only when I try to watch the entire presentation (approx. 10 minutes in length). The audio gradually lags behind the visual.  By about half way through the project, the visual presentation is noticably ahead of the audio. By the end, the audio is nearly 4 seconds behind the video. I cannot detect a noticeable change in pitch or speed of the audio, so if the audio is being altered in any way, the alteration is slight.
However, if I use the playback controls to advance to a single slide, the audio is fine for that slide and those immediately after, although it does gradually get off again as the project progresses. (So, for example, if I start the playback in the middle of the project, the audio will only be off by about 2 seconds by the end, rather than 4.)
I have tried various publishing options (although I don't think publishing is the problem, since this happens when I preview the project as well). I have used 2 different computers and also tried viewing the published version locally and streaming. None of these alterations seem to make a difference. By the end of the presentation, regardless of how the project is published or viewed, the audio is several seconds behind the video.
    My specs:
    Captivate 5
    Microsoft XP OS
    2 GB RAM
    Publishing to .swf
    Suggestions?

    Hi Mukul,
Thank you very much for your careful responses. Here are the answers to the questions.
First of all, the "slow video" behavior does appear only after adding the slides mentioned in previous post.
    1.    I created a “software simulation” project. It IS a capture+audio recording.
    2.    Since I recorded the audio while doing screen capture, almost every slide has audio, which is not convenient to edit at all. Is there any other better way that I missed so that we can keep the audio and video at the same step while editing them? As I know so far, either insert silence or delete a little audio to one slide, the audio becomes short, but the slide duration time is still the same as before unless we change that manually which normally is not precise enough to match the audio.
    3.    I tried to add the blank slides at where there is a pause of speaking and where they are close to the problem slides. Otherwise, the speaking would sound weird.
    4.    Published SWF file size is 20.6 MB.
    5.    I do have two externalized video files for title and end.
    6.    Unfortunately, it is still slow even if it played on a different system.
And another problem comes up these days. After publication, the screen resolution is not good (like some grey ink left on screen) wherever click or type something. It did not happen before even if worked on the same computer.
I am very sorry that there are so many problems. I have been working on this for long time. The project totally drove me nuts. Hopefully you have more ideas about that.
    I really appreciate your help.
    Sincerely,
    Linda

  • Audio timeline out of sync with audio

I took an audio note using an iphone application called Moe's Notes. I emailed the audio as an attachment to myself. The note is in .caf format but I also generated an .aif version. I dragged the audio onto the timeline in Garageband and it plays, but I noticed that the audio is out of sync with the wave display. Also, the second part of the audio recording plays, but does not visibly show up as a waveform.
Any ideas? I resorted to Audacity to edit my audio.

trash your waveform cache and see what happens when you restart the program.

  • Audio falls out of sync with FCP sequence after export from STP

    Hey all,
editing sound on a short film. sent FCP sequence to sweeten the dialog and add effects, according to the timeline it is the same length as sequence length in
FCP, but when exporting from STP to FCP to complete movie, the sound ends up being about 10 frames longer than the video and starts in sync and falls out of sync over the duration of the film.
Have tried changing preference settings in STP, exported about 5 ways to breakfast and all have same result.
Anyone have a solution to this problem?
    Much thanks,
    Holly

I just experienced this same thing, and as Christof says, it had to do with 'Easy Setup' and 'all formats'. I've been editing a picture shot on RED in Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) at 2K (2048 x 1152) and 24fps...FCS 3 (FCP 7 latest version). Whenever you trash preferences or start up FCP new, you get the 'easy setup' menu. Previously, I could just hit 'okay' and go ahead into FCP and change the settings/resolutions within the project...even if the 'easy setup' default was, say, DV/NTSC 29.97. Also, when opening up an active project after trashing prefs, the project itself would still have the same editing/playback settings/resolutions, even if the 'easy setup' window had its default DV/NTSC setting. Plus, if you create a new timeline and its default is one format, once you drop a different format into it, it asks you if it should adjust to that format anyway, and of course, you say yes and everything is fine.
Well....in this most recent FCP update, whenever I'd export an AIFF from the timeline and reimport....or if I'd just import an AIFF...it would do something to the playback rate of that newly imported/reimported sound file and suddenly its sync has drifted all over the place within just a minute or so. But strangely, it wouldn't do it to audio that's attached to picture (.mov/MP4/etc.)....only isolated audio files (AIFF/WAV). So naturally, I wondered if something was going on during the export process or the like.
The solution is to make sure that when you open FCP (newly, or after trashing prefs), make sure you pick the settings/format/framerate in that 'Easy Setup' window that matches what you intend to edit as closely as possible. In my case, the format is Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), 2048 x 1152 @ 24fps, and I use a Blackmagic Multibridge so I have settings for it. Hence......*Format; HD, Frame Rate: 24, Use: Blackmagic HDTV 1080P 24 - 10 bit.* Whereas the default upon startup is....Format: (all formats), Frame Rate: 29.97, Use: DV/NTSC 48KHz.
You can also set these in the 'Audio Video Settings' menu. Now, whenever I export and reimport an AIFF, or just import an AIFF (like the soundmix prepared by our sound designer), sync stays and there's no drift. So make sure you've picked the right settings when starting or reopening a project, again as Christof pointed out.

  • My audio gets out of sync with my video after capturing from Sony XDCAM

Everything was fine. I captured content from my Sony XDCAM, created pieces, no problem. Imported a .mov from my older FCP (5.1.4). FCP told me I needed to change my settings in order to use the .mov with my current timeline. I said OK, fine. Now, when I capture from my XDCAM some of the audio is in sync but it goes out fairly quickly. Any Ideas? I noticed in the bin the clips which are out of sync have a different data rate then the good ones. HELP!

  • Why is my audio is out of sync with my video on hd capture from sony camera

    My System

    Asus P5Q-E Motherboard
    4 GIGS DDR Patriot Ram
    Pentium quad 2.8
    Ati Video Card
    Onboard Audio
    CS3 Premiere And Encore
I have a Sony HVR Z series HD camera from sony.  I will capture a tape and it will be out of sync. I will then recapture and it may be in sync or not, this is really frustrating especially for music videos and weddings, actually a nightmare. I'm not quite sure as to the reason as it happens in Adobe Premiere cs3 and cs4. I have updated everything. Do you thing I need a 10000 RPM os system drive. Any help would be appreciated.
    Joan

I have 2 Sony HDR FX1 and 1 Sony HVR Z1U and it works great in both CS3 & CS4 so something is wrong with your setup or camera.
I only have a 7200 SATA drive for capture.
I dont know if a bad cable would cause this.
Harm has a couple other ways to capture that he says it keeps the audio in sync better but I have yet tried it but im sure from what I have read here that it works good.
Here is a link to his Tools Article.

Here are those 2 capture ways:
    Capture
Scenalyzer: http://www.scenalyzer.com/main.html for capturing SD material
HDVSplit: http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm for capturing HDV material
    Hope this helps:  Glenn
    EDIT:
I have an 5 year old system.
On Bills PPBM4 test you can see that I scored second to LAST on speed so even my system can capture fine.

  • Teouble with audio becoming out of synce with video.

Hello, I'm using final cut to edit my videos but for some reason, FCP has been giving me some issues. In my work flow I often layout two long video track in the timeline, then I will chop up the top track to create transitions from the top to the bottom and vise versa. as soon I press play, it the video will start off in a slower speed almost as if the computer is overloaded, then it catches up to normal speed in about a second. This has really been driving my crazy. It also effects the way video syncronizes with audio. I can lay both video tracks on top of one another perfectly in sync with the audio, but as sometime once it get's to new scene or the video switches to another track the audio is no longer in sync with the video. sometimes I can stop the footage, then press space bar to copntine and the audio and video will be in sync. This is really weird and I was wondering if anyone has any answers for me. I'm pretty sure it's not an overload on the system because the projects are rather small, and I'm using a quad core 2.5, with 5 gig of ram. and this is my graphic card info

Yes. Those that are designed to work with A/V files will work better.
Drives from G-tech and Granite Digital are worth a very close look.
However, if you have an empty drive bay in your G5, a second internal SATA drive is the better choice.
    good luck.

  • CP4.0: Audio is out of sync with slides

    Hi,
All my audio recordings, motion captures, highlights and captions are perfectly fine in edit mode, but when I publish the video, the output files are mixed up.
Somehow, the audio file from slide 36 (of a 59-slide project) starts playing from the very beginning and continues to loop throughout the whole video while the rest of the video is proceeding forth properly. In other words, throughout the whole video, there are always two sound files playing - the file from slide 36 and the other sound files assigned to each slide.
It's cacophonous (and I'm not on drugs - though highly caffeinated!).
    Some background:
    a) I am making 2 videos. Video #2 is a variation of video #1.
    b) Video #1 turned out perfectly.
    c) Being that many sound files for video #1 would apply to video #2, I exported the mp3s to a desktop folder.
    d) For video #2, I imported the sound files described in (c) to respective slides. I edited many of the sound files in video #2.
    e) When I was done with everything in video #2, I tried both F4 and Publish, and in both cases, the same sound problem.
    f) I had a similar problem awhile ago, and in the past was able to rename mp3 files then reimport to each slide (a solution I'd read about on these forums). So, I did that to all 59 slides for video #2. No luck!
    e) I checked for Captivated 4 updates and ran an update. Tried publishing again. Same problem.
Can someone provide any insight as to why this is happening? How I can fix this?
I'd sure hate to rerecord the audio. It's a very boring read.
    Thanks!
    Ruth

    Ruth,
I have been able to fix the problem with adding a second on each slide.  So all but 7 of my slides now are in sync.  I had one slide change, not play its narration as the narration from the previous slide finished.  And then it move on to the next slide.  According to the manual, you can adjust the speed of the slide transition.  So I am playing with the timeline for each slide.  I am almost there.  I didn't have any change of slides after the first transition to almost perfect synchronization with all but 7 slides out of 60, including one skip over.  It seems each problem solved creates a new problem. I fixed resolution by adjusting the resolution settings. I enabled the variable showing of the slide based on the narration, rather than the default 3 seconds.  So I am making progress.
    Thanks for responding,

  • Clip audio is out of sync with video

After analyzing the clip the code tells the tale. The audio is "shorter by 1 1/2 seconds yet the time line doesn't reflect it. I want to fix the problem but the tool I found requires the clip (red rectangular box with the +/- info.) to option/click on to be given the re-sync tool action. Other solutions require complicated solutions. My question is "What happened to cause this sync problem and how can I avoid it in the future. ie: no evidence of =/- red boxes to show that there is a problem even thought it clear when you look at the video clip ?

    We are missing fundamental information:
What codec does your source footage use?
What is the audio sampling rate on the source footage?
What are the Sequence settings in FCP and does what you see there differ in any way to the properties of the source footage?
Version of Mac OS X, FCP and QuickTime?
    Also; if you have a 2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Mac OS X 10.6.6, it's a Mac Pro, not a G5.

  • Audio is out of sync with video

I have a project that includes still photos, video clips and background music. I did all the basic stuff (clip trimmer to mark the beats, aligned the photos/videos to the beats, etc.). It all works well except there's a glitch in the transition between two of the videos.
At the end of the first clip, there's a short segment (1-2 seconds) where the first clip turns into a still and the audio from the second clip starts while the first clip is still displayed. Throughout the second clip, the audio is off. If I start playing from the second clip, the audio is in synch.

  • Audio drifts out of sync with video

    Hello --
I just watched the pilot for Conviction in iTunes on my PowerBook. The audio was just fine at the beginning, but by the end of the episode the audio was about 2 seconds behind the video. Everything on my system is up to date (OS, iTunes, Quicktime). Are others experienceing this and can it be corrected. I tried just pausing the video and restarting it but that did not correct the problem.
    HELP! (and thanks)
    -- Steven

so new versions of iTunes have seemed to correct this problem.

  • Slideshow audio gets out of sync when exported to iDvd

I made a large slideshow for a 40th anniversary party. It has 244 images & 7 songs. It is 29 min 54 seconds long. When I view the slideshow in iPhoto it works fine & the last image ends right at the end of the last song.
When I exported it to iDvd, the audio gets out of sync with the video. By the end of the first song, the video is about 2 seconds ahead. By the end of the last image, the last song is cut of by about 30 to 45 seconds. I tried exporting the slideshow directly to iDvd. I also exported it as a large movie & it did the same thing.
    I'm using a 17" 1.67ghz powerbook with 1.5 gigs of ram.
    I'm using OS 10.4.2.
    I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4
    I'm using iDvd 5.0.1
The images are scanned tiffs. I also have jpegs that I shot with my canon eos digital rebel xt.
Anybody have any ideas or work-arounds?

I suggest you either use iDVD to create two slideshows or use iMovie to get all 277 images and the 8 audio tracks into one slideshow. If you use iMovie after you get the slideshow/movie put together and completed quit iMovie. Then go into the iMovie project package (Control-click and select Show Package Contents). The find your movie in the Shared Movies folder and drag it into an open iDVD menu. This allows iDVD to to the rendering of the stills and give you a sharper image. That movie file you're dragging is a reference movie so leave it where it is and just drag it into iDVD's window.
If you can live with two separate slideshow (consider it a potty break between the two) and you don't have or need the Ken Burns effect, you can get excellent results by building the slideshows with iDVD from imported stills. The sync to audio in this method works as advertised. I like to add a blank slide at the end of the slideshow so the music fades out during a blank, black slide.

  • HELP!  Audio goes out of sync after export!

OK, folks. I need your help. I have a looming deadline of THIS FRIDAY to hand this in.
I have a finished multicam edit of a show that runs 1 hr 20 min. It plays back perfectly in the timeline, all video and audio perfectly in sync. Looks and sounds exactly like what I need.
When I export the video as an H.264 file, the audio gets out of sync with the video by 13 frames! But that's not all... It doesn't happen to the entire audio track. There's about 50 minutes in the middle of the video where the audio goes out of sync. The audio at the beginning and ending of the video is lined up perfectly in sync. It's just the middle section that gets screwy.
    What do I do?!
This has never happened before, and I've worked a lot with multicam in Premiere Pro CC before this. Never been an issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere, and also deleting all media cache files, but still no dice.  I also tried copying the clips into a new sequence in the same project, copying the clips into a new sequence in a NEW project, nesting the sequence... nothing works.
    My setup:
    MacBook Pro Retina (Rev. A)
    Premiere Pro CC (latest version)
Panasonic GH3 footage in 1080p 24p AVCHD timeline
3 cameras & 1 audio WAV file in Multicam
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I figured out how to fix it:
In Premiere Pro CC, click on SEQUENCE > DELETE RENDER FILES.
    Try exporting the movie again.
It worked! I exported the same sequence, and it took a long while to re-render the audio files, but when it was finished exporting the audio and video were in perfect sync. I'm not sure what caused it, but this fixed it, so hopefully anyone else having this issue can save a lot of time by reading this.
    Cheers!

  • Audio shifts out of sync. cannot match up picture to audio

i have a video that i downloaded from a stream. however, in fcp 6 the audio is out of sync with the picture. when i reallign the picture to audio, the audio gradually becomes more and more out of sync the further you go down the timeline. ive tried resampling, changing bit rate, and dropping frames. am i doing something wrong? i would appreciate any and all help. THANKS

Interesting you asked that "side question". Recently, I was ripping CD tracks that I know are 44.1 sample rate and I needed to re-sample them to 48k for the FC project. I knew what the 48k should sound like as it was recorded on the cameras. After I re-sampled the audio, it was still off and I have done this at least 100 times. If I remember correctly, I had to export the audio track, selecting 16 bit, 48k before it matched up. Just changing the sample rate of the audio project did not re-sample correctly even though a dialog box popped up asking to resample to the new rate. I use Cubase for mu audio work so I can't explain the process in STP but I think you get the idea. Yes, the duration should change if re-sampled correctly.

  • Why does the audio go out of sync on my Apple TV?

Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that the audio goes out of sync with any streaming video on my Apple TV (3rd gen) after about 20 minutes of usage.  I have never had this experience in the past and am not sure why it is happening, but one theory is that it has something to do with AirPlay.  I'm pretty sure that this problem only happens after I use AirPlay to connect my Mac to the Apple TV.  I'm not sure if this is the exact source of the issue and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, what solutions may be available.  Thanks.
