Exporting Keynote to PPS

After exporting a slideshow with music I made with Keynote as pps, I have burned a DVD with it. However, in all attempts to play it back in MS PowerPoint, it will not play. It does play on my iMac through Keynote.
What am I missing to cause it to be unreadable in pps? And, how can I make it readable?
Thanks for your help.

Keynote is exporting only to .pps files when I export to PowerPoint. The pps files play in PowerPoint but they cannot be edited. How can I get an export to a ppt file?

    Update:
I solved the problem by manually changing the extension from .pps to ppt. This allowed me to use and edit the presentation in PowerPoint with not difficulties.

  • When exporting keynote to quicktime it is crap. why?

when exporting keynote to quicktime, it is really jumpy/jittery WHY!?!?!?
    need help

    Same thing happening to me.
Seems like it's a quicktime bug.
I see some discussion at http://www.jem-thematic.net/en/node/871
It seems to indicate the only way is to downgrade from QT from 7.5 to 7.4.5... and, if you use iMovie, this will also break iMovie, you'd need to reinstall... UGH.

  • Exporting Keynote to Quicktime - complete loss of sound

    Hey,
I’m facing problems when it comes to exporting Keynote to Quicktime.
For a tutorial, I recorded a Quicktime movie of my screen (including my voice as audio). This Quicktime movie is placed on a slide and runs during the whole presentation. I use animations for showing text blocks that give additional info while the movie is running.
In Keynote everything works just fine. But when I export it to Quicktime, *the sound stops as soon as the first animation is started with a click*. From then on I can see both the embedded Quicktime movie and the animations but without audio.
Sometimes it even happened that after doing the first click I could see the animations only, but no Quicktime video / sound.
I’ve spent the last nights with trying changing export settings and so on, searched this forum up and down, but couldn’t find a solution…
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Mike

I just posted this on another similar inquiry. THis may help. I posed a similar question so check the thread "Bottom line...etc." If you follow the guidelines below it should work. The final result is one QT movie with all slides and music. The product was so much nicer than the iPhoto slide shows (although they are OK too. (I don't know about the video in the Keynote might work as described in the initial post here.)
Here is what the final answer was, at least for my situation:
"YESSSS!!! Even after meeting with 4 Geniuses and 1 Creative the answer was still a definite bottom line, "Maybe." Until, I finally realized that the one setting that I was not using correctly was in the Export> QT> Playback. I had been using "Manual" and not using the "Fixed Timing" out of fear that it would change the custom settings that I had on each slide. However, that is not the case. The settings on each slide remain the same even though in this option there are settings for slide duration and build duration. I do not know what those options do but the bottom line is I now can Export to QT and then import to iDVD with both sound and video as one file and they work fine both as an isolated QT file as well as a QT/Slideshow in iDVD. Thanks for the help from all the contributors both recently and quite awhile ago when I first faced this challenge.
    Peace,
    Jim

  • Export keynote slides as high quality jpeg

The tool for exporting keynote slides as jpegs at the highest quality setting results in very low quality jpegs (less than 100 k).  How can I increase the quality?

I just figured it out.  Go to the inspector and select the document inspector (first icon on the left).  Look down near the bottom of that little window for "Slide Size"  and select a bigger slide size to meet the requirements of quality desired.  When i increased my slide size to 1680 x 1050, the export tool produced good quality jpegs (600+ K) from each slide, when I selected the highest quality.   A little hint about this in the slide export dialogue box might be helpful in some future version of Keynote.

  • Exported Keynote presentation improperly exported by FCP

    Hi all,
I have the following problem, I use Keynote to create a presentation for my company's customer (large Japanese car maker). They requested it in a format that could be used by their staff to present to the board. The best solution is to use the Send to iDVD function, and this one works fine (regardless the fact that during export Keynote does something evil to the presentation and doesn't preserve aspect ration etc.). For that reason I used the Export to QuickTime (settings: Apple ProRes (HQ) 422, no audio, resolution 1280x720 [just because a week of trial and error showed that this resolution scales down perfectly to PAL 16:9 DVD]) and the movie plays perfectly. The only reason I need to use FCP is to adjust slides' timings etc. The resulting QT movie is imported perfectly into FCP (requires no rendering, blah blah), I cut it up the way the presentation runs smooth and everything, timing are cool. Now trying to export it anywhere, using any available format gives me CRAP. Half of the transitions are off or gone completely, instead of some slides I get stills, etc. Is it me doing something wrong or is the Keynote export doing something funny to the QT movie it is creating that is misunderstood by FCP. I wasted a week trying to figure it out, no luck. Another problem that shows up now and then is that the QTed Keynote is incomplete under FCP, ie. missing randomly from few seconds to few minutes. Any help is appreciated.

How can I get Keynote directly into FCP? I already am exporting it into QT ProRes HD, the iDVD is only a final step of the process. Yes, I am upset, it is a BIG project and I cannot fail, not because some stupid configuration mistake as I still hope it is me doing something wrong not some FCP/Keynote bug.
It's not a bug. It's you. ProRes is a delivery format, not an editing format. Forget it. Export stills out of Keynote, tiffs or jpegs. You decide.
iDVD only does MPEG2, maybe in HDV format, I do not know, I have never used iDVD.
Most of us would create the images from scratch within FCP's graphics and text editors or in Motion because of the peculiar needs of video for pixel thickness and color gamut. Translating bad slide shows to video just makes bad video (and there is no such thing as a good Keynote or PowerPoint presentation).

  • How do I export Keynote file to Powerpoint as ".ppt" rather than ".pps"?

    Greetings,

    greetings,
    -- have found solution!
-- depends on the nature of the initial PowerPoint file, whether imported to Keynote as .ppt or .pps (embedded or linked media)
-- have been importing/exporting between Keynote & PP to refine the presentation for best cross-platform delivery as part of my edit process. as other have stated, on this discussion forum--there are a number of incompatibilities, when re-exporting your beautiful content rich Keynote presentation back to the MS PP format.
-- it is best to be selective with your template choices & linked/embedded media files while working in Keynote... if you have high expectations for playback in MS PP you'll be disappointed. export to a QT movie for an excellent rendering of effects (not to mention, addtl. editing capabilities in QT Pro) & hope the end user has a plugin! much better than a less pleasing MS PP playback.

  • Help with exporting Keynote to iMovie

Hello, I am working on a project in both Keynote and iMovie in which I am making some slides in Keynote, exporting them as Quicktime, and then importing them into iMovie. The slides primarily are composed of scanned pages from a book and thus have lots of small type. In Keynote, the text comes out very sharp and I can read it all perfectly. When I import the Quicktime movie into iMovie, however, the text looks very blurred and is almost unreadable. It looks like a JPEG which has been compressed way too much. However, I believe I have all of the compression settings set as high quality as possible. All of the other Keynote slides export and import just fine, only the text is giving me problems. Could someone please show me how I can export the Keynote slide so that the text shows up in iMovie just as clear as it looks in Keynote?
    Thank you very much,
    Daniel Baker

well, in that case you need to determine if this issue only happens with a perticular report or all of them, if it happens only with reports imported from 5.x or with newly created reports as well.
Looks like it is happening only when report is exported from Infoview, not in the Deski client. This might indicate a problem at the Web Apllication server (tomcat or one you use).
If this issue is happening with any report - it might be a bug. In that case you have no options as there are no more patches for XIR2.
On the other hand - if all you need is to extract data for consumption in another tool , why not use Data integrator instead ?
Also, if this desn't work in Deski - does it work if you convert your reports to webi and export from those ?

  • Quicktime Export - Keynote, Streaming, and Movie Controller Settings

A few questions regarding qt export from keynote -
Is there a way to save quicktime export settings in keynote? Right now I'm exporting multiple files to custom sizes, and have to manually enter the size every time.
I'm exporting for streaming as well, and have to select it in the qt settings window every time.
also, is there a way to choose to show the movie controller when exporting a movie? Now I have to open the movie after export in qt pro and choose window>movie properties>presenation>movie controller type>movie controller (it defaults to none when exporting from keynote).
also, oddly enough, is seems that saving the movie after choosing to show the movie controller removes the streaming setting (movies wait to load completely before playing).
    Thanks!

No answer to the main question...but the final question--
When you edit a QuickTime movie, even if the edit is merely to change the settings on the controller, it breaks fast-start. You should be able to fix it by doing a "Save As..." instead of saving the movie in place. But that doesn't seem to work in all versions of QuickTime; I have noticed that certain versions of QT-7 seem to break fast-start altogether.
There is an app out there called "Lillipot" that will fix this for you. Drag your movie to Lillipot, it does whatever magical conversion is necessary to make fast-start work again.

  • QuickTime movie in Keynote 3 want to export Keynote as QT

So I have a Keynote presentation. It is mostly images but 3 slides play small Quicktime movies. Interviews I did on DV, converted to 320x240 using Sorenson V3 and IMA 4:1 audio. In Keynote 3.0, they now have controls. They play great.
But I need to export the presentation so others can use it without keynote.
The only option seems to be exporting it as as a Quicktime movie.
Actually, with trial and error, the Quicktimes in the Quicktime play great. BUT are missing controls!
So anyone viewing the interactive Quicktime from a CD-R has no choice but to watch each clip. Longest is 17 minutes so a pause or stop is an option that is needed.
Does anyone know how to get those QT controls (or at least stop or pause) into the movie inside the exported interactive Quicktime from Keynote?
Is there a 3rd party solution? I'm desperate.
Alternatively, if anyone knows how to do same but as a Flash file, that would be fine too.
This was problem in Keynote 2.0 as well. My presentation size is big enough.
Considering the convergence of audio and video all over Apple product line, I just don't get why this was not considered for the 3.0 update. I want to export my lectures for students to self run. I'm probably not the only university professor who shows video and would like Apple to deal with this ASAP.

If you have Qt Pro, you can open the file and turn on a controller, then resave the file.

  • Problems with exporting keynote with other programs, devices.

Recently purchased a mac, a few bells and whistles just due to the frustration of Microsoft. I've done a few things successfully with Keynote so I approach the heads of the global company I work for. (We don't use macs) and provide show a keynote presentation and they're curious and game.
Now I don't have the goods and I'm going to look like a schmuck and we won't be using macs for the next decade. I'm willing to sign up for the one on one presentation, but i'm a little tired of giving apple mo' money, mo money, mo money. They brag about the simplicity and I'm finding it's everything but. Okay, the rant is over.
The presentation is simple 25 slides, added audio, a little royalty free garageband for a few slides..
    Issue #1
When I try to export to the Ipod (Yes, I bragged keynote can be used for everything) I'm not given the option to use "recorded timing," the keynote manual doesn't list anything so I'm kind of screwed on this one. Is it possible you can't use this option?
    Issue #2
The presentation looks incredible in Keynote, but when I export to IDVD the quality of the presentation is blurred and looks like a joke. Do I have to buy more additional software or programs to produce quality presentations or One to One training, go through my kid's saving accounts for essentially an upgraded powerpoint program? I'm frustrated.
I'm new to mac and maybe it's me. But after this experience I feel that I've been suckered and should have stayed with Bill Gates.

Keynote is very good at most things, but is seriously limited when it comes to synchronizing audio with presentations. There are amny other threads here discussing similar issues.
    1. If you set the timing for each slide (builds and transitions), you can use the "fixed timing" option during export, delete the default values, and then export your presentation. It will retain the timings that you set. There may be other issues if you're using Quicktime 7.5, though, so see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1566927&tstart=15
    2. I don't have iDVD on this Mac at the moment, but there should be export options that let you set the quality. Maybe someone else can confirm.
The bottom line IMHO is that you have to keep things in Keynote for the best results. Otherwise, you may run into problems when you have audio in your presentations.

  • Audio not working properly on exporting keynote to Quicktime

    Hello everybody,
I've created a Keynote presentation, with voiceover. It runs perfectly when launched in keynote, standalone, but as I try to export it to quicktime, the audio from an embedded video clip (just one out of 3 clips embedded in the whole presentation) stops after a few words (while the other work perfectly).
I'm going nuts! I tried saving the file afresh under different name, redoing the voiceover, tossing and reinserting that clip that stops, and save again, no luck!
    Anyone experiencing the same issue?
    thanks,

Hello, I have the same problem, my Quicktime movie has some of the audio files but not others. This is for a professional job so the delay while I try various settings is not helping my cause. I thought Quicktime was a well-proven solution!

  • How to export Keynote slides to a Word document?

    Hi
I need to be able to export my Keynote presentation (saved as ppt) to a Word document (i.e. I will save Pages as .doc) I wondered if this is possible and if so how to go about doing so.
I have just changed from a Microsoft-based laptop to the MacBook and know how to do this on the former but not a clue on the Apple.

You can drag a slide directly from the Navigator sidebar in Keynote to a Pages document, and have the slide appear on the page. You can also export slides as images, or you can export as a PDF, and drag each slide separately into the document (open in Preview, and drag the thumbnail from the sidebar).
I would caution, however, about presenting an exported presentation without looking at it in PowerPoint first.

  • No Sound On Exported Keynote Movies

When I export recorded presentations as movies they come through with no sound. The presentation plays normally with the correct recorded timing but there is no narration. I know the narration got recorded because I can play it back in Keynote and hear it. Just not when I export it.
I have spent a lot of time on the phone with AppleCare and gone through all the trouble shooting they advised and still no sound. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is a very important feature for me to be able to use. Any alternatives to Keynote's built in export function for producing movies from the recorded presentations?

Thereby keeping us on the full price upgrade treadmill (O) At least you can sat it represents feature improvements for the money – unlike so many other software non-free upgrades to get major bug fixes like the dreadful Bento.
I think a major feature request, Precision placement of end positioning for builds is kind of included by way of Magic Moves or whatever they are calling it but it's only between slides. Still implies numeric control of position which could be a BIG improvement on zooming in, fudging around by hand only to lose control of the object as it disappears behind its start image. It's kind of like a feature I requested, duplicate slide with objects in end positions (as a easy fix) but better in that the end position can be modified and Keynote calculates the adjustment to move, rotate etc.
