Exporting Keynote to Quicktime - complete loss of sound

Hey,
I’m facing problems when it comes to exporting Keynote to Quicktime.
For a tutorial, I recorded a Quicktime movie of my screen (including my voice as audio). This Quicktime movie is placed on a slide and runs during the whole presentation. I use animations for showing text blocks that give additional info while the movie is running.
In Keynote everything works just fine. But when I export it to Quicktime, *the sound stops as soon as the first animation is started with a click*. From then on I can see both the embedded Quicktime movie and the animations but without audio.
Sometimes it even happened that after doing the first click I could see the animations only, but no Quicktime video / sound.
I’ve spent the last nights with trying changing export settings and so on, searched this forum up and down, but couldn’t find a solution…
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Mike

I just posted this on another similar inquiry. THis may help. I posed a similar question so check the thread "Bottom line...etc." If you follow the guidelines below it should work. The final result is one QT movie with all slides and music. The product was so much nicer than the iPhoto slide shows (although they are OK too. (I don't know about the video in the Keynote might work as described in the initial post here.)
Here is what the final answer was, at least for my situation:
"YESSSS!!! Even after meeting with 4 Geniuses and 1 Creative the answer was still a definite bottom line, "Maybe." Until, I finally realized that the one setting that I was not using correctly was in the Export> QT> Playback. I had been using "Manual" and not using the "Fixed Timing" out of fear that it would change the custom settings that I had on each slide. However, that is not the case. The settings on each slide remain the same even though in this option there are settings for slide duration and build duration. I do not know what those options do but the bottom line is I now can Export to QT and then import to iDVD with both sound and video as one file and they work fine both as an isolated QT file as well as a QT/Slideshow in iDVD. Thanks for the help from all the contributors both recently and quite awhile ago when I first faced this challenge.
Peace,
Jim

when exporting keynote to quicktime, it is really jumpy/jittery WHY!?!?!?
    need help

    Same thing happening to me.
Seems like it's a quicktime bug.
I see some discussion at http://www.jem-thematic.net/en/node/871
It seems to indicate the only way is to downgrade from QT from 7.5 to 7.4.5... and, if you use iMovie, this will also break iMovie, you'd need to reinstall... UGH.

  • Exporting Keynotes into Quicktime

I teach K-6 graders and I like to begin each lesson with a recorded lesson they watch on the computer in front of them and then we practice what I taught them in the presentation.  I was using Keynote, but it had problems with embedded videos at times.  I like to add embedded videos while I explain and show them what they are expected to do.  The audio would play but often the video would not.
So I began recording the presentations and exporting them to Quicktime.  I didn't have a problem until this week.  Most worked fine, but two do not have the controls in the video.  By that I mean, when you mouse over the presentation, I would like students to be able to pause, rewind, rewatch, etc. as they need to but the controls are not showing up on the mouse over.
This is only happening on these two videos.  The rest work perfectly and I have tried multiple times.  I cannot find anything that is set differently.  The only difference is that these are made for 5th and 6th graders and are slightly longer than the other videos.
Has anyone experience with this?  Older discussions point to using paths that my version of Quicktime simply doesn't have and I am at a loss.
    Thanks

    Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the info. But I can not get any setting to come out looking widescreen. All settings come out square looking. I have tried every setting I can think of but all the QuickTime exported movies come looking like (i.e.: 800X854) more box than widescreen. I think it must be some setting I do not know about or some combination or possibly the capture setting (easy setup).
    Thanks for your help.

  • Audio not working properly on exporting keynote to Quicktime

    Hello everybody,
I've created a Keynote presentation, with voiceover. It runs perfectly when launched in keynote, standalone, but as I try to export it to quicktime, the audio from an embedded video clip (just one out of 3 clips embedded in the whole presentation) stops after a few words (while the other work perfectly).
I'm going nuts! I tried saving the file afresh under different name, redoing the voiceover, tossing and reinserting that clip that stops, and save again, no luck!
    Anyone experiencing the same issue?
    thanks,

Hello, I have the same problem, my Quicktime movie has some of the audio files but not others. This is for a professional job so the delay while I try various settings is not helping my cause. I thought Quicktime was a well-proven solution!

  • Cannot Export Keynote to Quicktime

When i try and export a the keynote into quicktime, the result is not as intended. i have recored a video inside of keynote, with animations and different timings. the video is around 8 mins long. when i export it to quicktime, i get a video of 4 seconds in lenght. this is the screen shot of the options i get when i click "File", "Export to", "Quicktime".
any help would be much appreciated

The export options show that the QuickTime export will take the timings of the transitions from the "recording";  every time you press the enter, spacebar or right arrow key, Keynote will advance to the next event.
The recorded timings are wrong, you therefor need to clear the timings and record them again:
    1 - Inspector > Document > Audio > click the clear button
    2 - click record
3 - click the red start record button at the bottom left, wait for the countdown to finish then press the enter key every time you want to advance to the next event.
4 - when your reach the last slide, click the record button again, then click the X button top right
test the timings are correct by playing the presentation from slide 1

  • Exporting Keynote to Quicktime movie with audio

I am struggling to get this to work although I have done so previously. I have a fully functioning keynote with an embedded quicktime movie and an audio file. The Keynote works fine.
When I try to export it I just get the audio file!! I am opting for 'manual' even thought the Keynote is a looped production without the need for any manual input.
    Any ideas? thanks

Exporting to Quicktime with sound seems to have been restored ok in Keynote 09 as I have just tested it on the trial download copy. Up until then I have been importing into Garage Band without sound and adding it there which is successful but I think the quality of picture is better with only one step i.e within Keynote itself.

  • Skipping Chapters/Slides in exported keynote to QuickTime

Hopefully someone may have the answer.
I was wondering if anyone had an Idea on how I could skip slides or chapters on the fly (or before a presentation) in a Quicktime movie that was exported to Keynote.
For my Windows users I give them a QuickTime file of the keynote presentation to play back. Now, if they wanted to skip some of the slides/chapters is there a way to do that?
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you exported to QuickTime as an interactive slideshow, every slide is a charpter. So, they can easil click on the next button even in full-screen mode...
    Hope that was helpufull

  • Exported keynote to quicktime -- how to advance?

    Hi,
I have a keynote file that is to be played on a windows platform.
So it has been successfully exported as mov and got a nice advance forwarding slide control..
I would like to know what if I need to jump back to the previous slide in the mov file?
I could do it with my 3-finger-swipe on my macbook in the mac version of QT..
but is there a shortcut for this to be done on a windows QT?
    Many thanks!

  • Complete loss of sound

    Hi,
    Help please!
    System:  AMD 1.333, K7T266Pro(ms6380)v.1, Win 98SE
    Problem:  Loss of all sound
History:  System worked fine for last 14 months (wasn't I lucky) then video card died.  Geoforce 2 replaced by G3Ti200ProVT128.  Shortly after sound failed - all sound, not even static hiss or hum.  Speakers are OK.  Windows reinstalled,  HD reformatted, BIOS updated, but still no sound. On attempting to reinstall AC 97 drivers got message, "Audio chipset is not enabled on this system,  please enable it first in BIOS, then run this set up again".   But BIOS clearly shows "On chip AC 97 audio enabled".  Windows wizard will install the drivers and settings-multimedia - devices shows Audio for AC97 Enhanced Audio controller (WDM) enabled and active. Settings-multimedia- devices show drivers for CD audio, midi sequencer and wave audio device as "enabled", but system tools-information-multimedia shows drivers for audio codecs for these three items as disabled :0. Internal wiring looks OK and no loose bits under the MB.   What can I try next?

I've same mobo, when i check for new updates on liveupdate the sound stops working...I get it fixed by going to windows volume control and moving the volume level up and down...yeah strange but that's what i've to do every time after checking what's new on liveupdate.

  • IPhone 4-Temporary, but COMPLETE, loss of sound

Occasionally my much-loved and well-used i4 won't make any sound: no ring, no text notification, no iPod music, nothing.  It's unpredictable, and has caused me to wake late because my various alarms and reminders make no sound either.
The phone acts like it's making sound (a little animated bell for an alarm, a moving play head for music, caller ID for incoming calls).  I have to restart the phone for things to work again.
Any ideas?  The problem seems to affect all apps and iOS functions, and doesn't seem like hardware because when it works, it works great.  It doesn't seem like dust or dirt makes the phone think the headphones are plugged in, because a simple restart fixes it.
    Thanks for your insights.

I'm 100% positive that it's not on silent/vibrate, because the LAST time it happened I got spooked, and part of my evening routine now includes briefly playing music from the phone before I go to sleep to make sure there's sound.  There was last night, but not at 5am.  Which made me late :(
Thanks for the quick response though!

  • Loss of sound in Windows XP in - requiring drivers to be re-loaded

This is a consistent problem under randem circumstances.
I suffer a complete loss of sound in Windows XP and the only resolution is to re-install the whole set of Bootcamp drivers or just the REALTEK audio drivers.
Sometimes after re-installing this still does not work.
Any experience of this and solutions?

Hello Ian and welcome to forums.
You might want to run the application 'Audio MIDI Setup' (/Applications/Utilities) and see if anything there is perhaps a mismatch with your particular audio configuration expectations...

  • Keynote to quicktime movie to iDVD, no sound on dvd

I know this has been asked a million times, however I (a relatively recent Mac convert) absolutely can't believe that Apple would not allow this to work.
I have a keynote slideshow with music. I "send to iDVD" as well as "export" into a quicktime movie. Resultant files are movie and soundtrack. I bring into iDVD. Sound plays in iDVD. Burn dvd from iDVD, no sound on dvd.
C'mon, the instructions are there, the menus are there. Apple can't expect us to "import into iMovie, match movie and soundtrack" or "burn using disk utility" or otherwise do anything other than take a keynote and make it in to a dvd.
Worst case, can I just burn a CD or DVD that automatically plays the keynote with sound and doesn't have the cool DVD Menu?
Again, sorry for the "same old question", however I have not found a fix that worked nor do I believe that Apple means for this to be so difficult.
For those experts out there that have seen this question before, I really have spent a significant amount of time researching the problem and haven't found a fix that worked or an official response from Apple.
    Thanks again.

I am not running this on an intranet, I am creating a video for my students and posting it to my Internet web page. So if I were to post the keynote file itself, 4/5 of my students would be unable to open it because they don't have Macs. Some do not even have desktop computers and view stuff on their smart phones. I solved the issue, at least partially, by saving the presentation as html and posting it to my site that way. It works but it is a bit buggy. Would still rather make it into a movie.

  • Audio not exporting from Keynote to Quicktime

I have recorded a 50 minute slideshow with a voice-over narration in Keynote. There are mp3 sound files on some of the slides, i.e. short clips of various sounds. When I play back the recorded slideshow in Keynote, my voice-over and the sound clips and visuals work perfectly fine. However, when I export my recorded presentation to Quicktime, only my voice-over and the slides are included in the movie, the sounds clips are missing. All of the transitions and effects work perfectly fine in the movie, it is just the sound clips that are missing. No matter how I save the file in Quicktime I cannot get the mp3 sound clips into the QuickTime movie. My computer is a MacbookPro running OSX 10.9.4 Mavericks, using Keynote 6.2. I just bought Quicktime Pro7 to see if that would help, but it did not. Would greatly appreciate advice on how to get all of audio into a movie, I've spent more than a hundred hours on this presentation. Many thanks.

Yeah, me too. Bump. Can anybody explain this behavior?!?
