Exporting Mediasource Tracklist to

Hey folks!
I would like to review the tracklist from my Nomad Jukebox Zen Ztra in another app via export (MS Word, MS Excel). I seem to be unable to do so with the Mediasource application that came with the player. I thought to be slick and use the MS DOS "DIR" command, but I can't get DOS to see the Nomad Explorer.
Can someone help or let me know if this is at all possible. I have a 60GB player full, and can save space via deleting the NUMEROUS duplicates I seem to have. It's just a pain doing it in the Mediasource app piece by piece, artist by artist.
Also can you get the app to list the actual filenames, and not the MP3 ID tags in Mediasource, that would help too....thanks for your help!

There are only two programs that will do this as far as I know: PlayCentre (the predecessor to MediaSource) and Notmad Explorer.

    You can export the tracklist from iTunes.  You shouldn't be sending actual music to them since that would be in violation of copyright.

  • Exporting Creative MediaSource Playli

    Why can one not export Media Source playlists to other Music Players or to the ROKU Soundbridge Digital Media Recei'ver? MediaSource uses the Microsoft Jet data base system to encode and store its playlists. That system is extensi'vely explained in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Can someone tackle this problem?

    Thanks, yes that worked. It's a nuisance that the updating doesn't occur automatically but it's much better than not working at all.

  • Can I print or export the MediaSource Libr

    I have a ton of duplicate entries and I don't want dups on my Zen Touch. Is there anyway to get a listing of the library?

    Only with the old PlayCentre (not sure if this will work with the Touch but you can get it from Nomadness.net downloads) or Notmad Explorer.

  • MediaSource - functionality & playli

    Dear all
    i have a Zen Touch 40Gb, a large music library and a number of gripes. i apologise in advance for the length of my post but i'd be really grateful for any advice you can send my way. i've searched through a large number of similar threads on this forum but, frankly, i've not seen a lot of answers (one poor chap was told his was a duplicate question but there was no link to the acti've thread so he's probably still searching for the truth!):-
    . Saving/Exporting playlists - a lot of people seem to have this problem/complaint: is there really no way of saving a playlist from MediaSource to a .m3u file? (please note, in response to something i read in another post, i've tried synchronising playlists to my Zen Touch and using the separate explorer software but there is no usable playlist file there either that any of my other software will recognise). i'm trying hard not to sound negati've but this seems like a really basic functionality, particularly given that you can IMPORT .m3u playlists into MediaSource - why not export 'em too?!
    2. Sorting playlists - has anyone found a workaround in order to sort playlists created in MediaSource? whether i'm creating a compilation, building a mix, creating a sub-group, avoiding duplication of tracks in an existing list or just trying to vary the play order of my tunes this would be a REALLY useful feature and it seems so simple to include in the software. you can sort in the main music library so why not in the playlist view?! again, i haven't been able to sort playlists within the Zen Touch explorer software either. is there any plan to introduce this functionality? are there any practical workarounds?
    3. Reporting playlists - it would also be useful to generate a report of track listings either from playlists or selected songs. the report format could be something no more sexy than a tab-separated text file. these can be pasted into a word or excel document and sorted/searched/printed/saved to our hearts' content. in the absence of functions # & #2 above, this would at least give me some options when it comes to saving and sorting my inspired playlists. alternati'vely, if functions # & #2 were available in MediaSource i could probably li've without #3. but with all of them absent i can barely describe MediaSource as an "organiser" because it simply doesn't enable you to do any real organising (if you're as dull as me, obviously!)
    4. File conversion - i've a number of .wma files in my library - mainly 92kb
    ps.
    whenever i try to convert them to mp3 (i have my reasons!!) the process fails. the error message says the "format conversion is not supported". some (but not all) of these files are downloads from Napster but I purchased the tracks and they should therefore be free to burn to cd or to sync with a portable device so i don't think they are protected. is there any reason why i can't achieve this file conversion?
    5. Navigation - again a dull and seemingly minor gripe but therein lies my irritation: the "backward" and "forward" buttons in MediaSource do not function like similar buttons in any other file explorer software i have used (whether designed for music files or otherwise). you can't navigate between recently viewed artist or album folders (of which i, and most other users, have many hundreds) - only between the main library and the playlists. it's not the end of the world but this seems like such a basic feature in any other navigation software that i just don't see why MediaSource doesn't work the same way.
    Ideally, i would like to use MediaSource to organise all my music but at the very least if there was an EXPORT function i would be able to transfer the extensi've data & playlists i've already generated into other more sophisticated software. i could then tweak them for use in other programs and also re-import amended playlists back into MediaSource. there is plenty of good quality free software out there and some excellent specialist software available for a very minimal outlay that can organise your mp3s and playlists in ways MediaSource users can only dream of (assuming, of course, that you dream about computer programs. i don't, i promise!) if i could export my playlists i could probably ignore MediaSource for anything other than sync-ing with my Zen Touch and use a stand-alone mp3 organiser to manage my music. i would happily settle for this but I'm surprised and disappointed that a company that is so big in the music industry leaves me in this position.
    i know i'm moaning (a lot) but these issues seem so basic to me that i am really frustrated with the lack of features in MediaSource. i chose my Zen Touch deliberately over and above any other mp3 player on the market (including the i-pod) for technical reasons and i stand by that decision. however, as another user has commented in this forum, performance doesn't count for very much if there is no functionality or support.
    please, if there is anyone out there with some tips or workarounds to my problems, or someone from Creative who can tell me when software updates will be released to cover these issues, or someone who can point me to an existing thread which received an answer, i may even be willing to part with cash (<EM>may</EM>...!)
    Many thanks

  • Export playlists from Mediasou

    Hey guys. Does anyone know of a way to export playlists (namely smart playlists) from Mediasource Organiser to .m3u files? It seems the program doesn't offer this functionality but there might be a way to extract them from the its compilation files... Travis

    Export the playlist as an .xml file not .txt and it should work.

  • Mediasource won't update ID3 tags!

    "Mediasource won't update ID3 tags!? Please help! I have been using Mediasource 5 over the years to painstakingly get my mp3 library organized just the way I want it. I know that the Media Source track info is not necessarily the same as what's stored in the ID3 tag of the files themselves. I am trying to update the ID3 tags so that the info matches what is in Media Source. The good news is, I can right click on my database in CMS and there is an option to "Update Track Properties". Within this window are two options: one to update the ID3 tags to match MediaSource, and another to update MediaSource to match the ID3 tags.
    So far so good, here's the problem. No matter which option you choose, it always does the latter of updating MediaSource to match the ID3 tags. ARGHH!! I've tried this over and over, trying both options, but no matter what I do, it's always copying in the wrong direction. That goodness I had backed up my database before doing it. I've tried both CMS 5.0.38 and the newer 5.20.23 but both have the same issue.
    So is there any way to get Mediasource to take it's data and copy it over the ID3 tag data? Anyone know of a patch or other software that read the CMS database file and do this?

    CD-TEXT only allows capable audio players (portable CD players, certain car stereo CD players, etc.) to scroll that information across its display as the track is playing.
    For other people's iTunes to be able to retrieve the track listing, it has to be first uploaded into Gracenote's database, once Gracenote processes the information.

  • Mediasource hangs every time i start it

    hi, any advice on how to get back up and running with Mediasource much appreciated.
    MS seemed to be working fine until I tried to record from the line-in, which made it freeze. I tried a few times and it froze up every time. The next time I started up my computer MS froze as soon as I opened it, and so I could no longer even transfer my existing music files; very annoying.
    I've removed and reinstalled all components several times but cannot get MS to fully start. The panel comes up, the icon changes to a hourtimer, and thats as far as it gets. If I have my Zen Touch connected, the tracklisting appears, but still I get the hourtimer icon and no further response.
    Windows XP
    Version 2.03.29 of MediaSource

    nope still doesnt work
    there were no .dat files (i had hidden files on) so i tried to delete the whole creative folder only to be told that I could not because another application was using it. This was despite the fact it was the first thing I had tried after turning on my PC. So I deleted the Mediasource, Nomad and Media Database folders individually, leaving the Creative folder empty. Still however when i start Mediacentre (or Player) it freezes with the hourtimer. Nomad seems to be working fine though.
    I dont have Service Pack 2, as someone else suggested in another thread.
    Its a SB Li've soundcard
    Please any more suggestions?

  • Creative Mediasource & Wireless Mu

    Hi!
    I have my Wireless Music - set up and running and I think it's a great device!
    I have one question about Mediasource, however. I'm using two users under Windows XP (two profiles), and I would like to use the playlists and preferences I have created for one user for the other one also.
    How can I do this? Is there a way to export/import playlists?
    Or do I have to copy some folders/files?
    regards,
    Japhy

    Not sure, I do run XP Pro but really only one user. It looks like in Documents and Settings under the user that installed and built the MediaSource data base there is a folder that can be copied to do what you want. Here's the path;
    C:\Documents and Settings\%Your UID%\Application Data\
    I'd try copying the entire Creative folder to the other users Application Data folder. I'll bet it would work.

  • Creative Mediasource ID3 Tags - Edit more than one year at a ti

    I use a 60gb Zen Xtra with Mediasource. I take pride in the ID3 tags of all my files especially those of my Jazz collection and my player is well organised. The only thing I have to ask is - is there any way of editing the year of, say, an entire album that was recorded in 959 for example all at the same time. It lets me do this for Artist, Album and Genre but not year. Is there any upgrade in software I can get or am I just missing something here?
    Thanks in advance for your input,Matt

    Shucks, I tried and you can't seem to do it. A curious oversight.
    You can either use another copying program like which will let you do it, or simply get a mass tagger (but you will need to edit the tracks on the PC first, then copy). For some mass tagger recommendations look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

    "An error occurred while request facebook connection"
    The export module has been discontinued in Bridge CC and as long as it has been there the option for social media has worked only for FB in a few countries. Due to rights management (as we where told) there where restrictions for most other countries. But if it did work for you in the past you should try click on FB in export module or use the tiny menu icon in the export panel for preferences and try to set up a new connection.

    Boa tarde, Fernando,

  • LR 4 exports to wrong folder, anybody else?

    HI, my rig includes Windows 7, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Gen 3 with i7 2600K, 16GB DDR3 mem, SSD drives, fast Radeon video card.
    I'm using Lightroom 4, just upgraded, have this problem:  when I export to Folder1> Subfolder 1, it puts the export images in the next up hierarchical folder, i.e. Folder1.  I select the folder I want in the Export dialog, and I don't have any subfolders selected or created, but it always sticks the shots in the next folder up the tree, it's happened every time I've exported.
    any clues?
    thanks
    Jim

    The subfolder is the folder I selected in the dialogue.  c.frans w is right.  In 2.7 I never had to check and create a subfolder, which is what that box is for, unless I wanted to.  Usually I just select the folder I want, but in 4, when I do that, it jumps to the next higher folder.

  • Auto-generated links exported from InDesign do not work in tablet apps

    Hyperlinks automatically detected and exported from InDesign CS6 8.0.1 as a PDF work fine on the desktop version of Acrobat Reader. However, on the iPad version of Adobe Reader as well as iBooks and GoodReader, these links are completely ignored, meaning they are just text.
    On the other hand, if I was to manually set the hyperlink in InDesign or Acrobat, the link works fine.
    It would be extremely tedious and time consuming to manually reset hundreds of hyperlinks in my documents since InDesign use to handle this correctly.
    Is this a bug? If so, it's pretty serious and should be Adobe's priority to fix since millions of people read documents on tablet devices.

    No, it's a Feature of Acrobat and reader that they attempt to create links from anything that "looks like" a URL. Other readers lack the feature.
    It's not good practice to depend on this in any case as it's hardly foolproof even in Acrobat. Links that break across lines, for example, will not be properly recognized.

  • Export to Text Options needs

    I've writen a program that exports a crystal report into a text file ready for it to be uploaded to an ftp site.
    Problem is i'm having trouble getting the text file to look right.
    I narrowed it down to the "Lines per page" setting in Crystal XI R2 as when i set it to 0 in crystal when testing the report the text file looks fine.
    My question is how to i set this in my application in VB code?  Here is the code i have so far:-
    Private Sub btnGenFile_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnGenFile.Click
            Dim Exportpath As String
            Exportpath = "n:\Regatta Order Files\"
            CrDiskfileDestinationoption = New DiskFileDestinationOptions
            CrExportOption = CrReport.ExportOptions
            CrDiskfileDestinationoption.DiskFileName = Exportpath + ("CHAN1" & sDate & ".txt")
            With CrExportOption
                .DestinationOptions = CrDiskfileDestinationoption
                .ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile
                .ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.Text
            End With
            Try
                CrReport.Export()
                'MessageBox.Show("Exported to " & CrReport.ExportOptions.DestinationOptions.DiskFileName)
                txtStatus.Text = "Text File has been created, you can now tranfer to Regatta"
            Catch ex As Exception
                MessageBox.Show(Me, ex.Message, "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error)
            End Try
        End Sub

    <p>Take a look at the TextFormatOptions class in the CrystalDecisions.Shared namespace. It provides properties that you can set, including LinesPerPage.
