Exporting mov to avi; crashes when Sound Settings is clicked

We've reproduced this crash on two Windows 7 PCs (a 32-bit & a 64-bit PC). It happens every time when we want to convert any .mov to .avi. After clicking Options, to set conversion settings (video settings can be adjusted w/o problems, and Sound Settings CAN be adjusted when set for .mov to .mov), but after we select .mov to .avi, just clicking on Sound Settings crashes QT, every time, on both of our PCs.

I am haveing the exact same problem....also just using the sound setting were there at and trying to exporting it will never complete with out a i/o error.....

If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:
    1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the appropriate version of FCP Rescue at http://www.fcprescue.com and run it.
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/trashing_fcpprefs.html
    2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
    3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.
    4) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

  • Audition Crashes When Loading the Automatic Click Remover

I have just encountered an issue where Adobe Audition CC 2014 (fully updated) will crash when attempting to open up the "Automatic Click Remover" plugin. An interesting thing to note is that if I run any recorded Favorites that utilize the Automatic Click Remover, it will complete the process the plugin performs without issue. It is only when you manually try to enter the plugin to make adjustments to the settings that it will immediately crash the program before it can load. I use my Favorites quite a lot, so I don't know if this problem has come up due to a recent update, or if it has been lurking there for a long time but I never found it until now.
I'll probably try reinstalling Audition soon but figured I should post about the issue here first. Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes files in Audition's Settings folder can get corrupted. So it is worth saving a backup when Audition is working OK. Then you can try restoring the backup rather than having to completely reinstall Audition. Where the settings folder resides depends on whether you are running a Mac or a PC.

  • Finder crashes when I try to click on the File Menu, or CTL Click. Ideas?

Started a few weeks ago, after the update to Mavericks.
Anytime I try to click on an item via Finder, and CTL+click to have the drop down menu, Finder crashes. Same thing happens when I try to click on the File Menu when Finder is selected.
Ultimately, I may need to do a full clean install (It's a bit overdue), but this seems to be an account specific issue, as my wife's user account does not have this issue.
To Note: I do not, nor have I ever, use Google Drive. So it's not that.

    Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
    Click "Reset".
    Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
    Safari > Preferences > Extensions

  • Exporting .mov to .avi file: computer crashes

I'm trying to export a .mov file to .avi. I get about 80% through this and my computer crashes. I'm guessing it's because my memory can't handle it (have got 512MB SDRAM only), but I might be wrong about this. The .mov file originally came in a zipped file, so perhaps in the unzipping I've overlooked something. Does anyone have any ideas?
    With thanks

  • Why does exporting .mov with Nero have no sound?

I recently bought a Kodak Digital and as you know it produces a .mov file when using the movie feature. It plays fine when using Quicktime. I use Nero Express 3 to create a DVD of my photos. When I export the .mov file or when I transcode to DVD format the Video will complete but playback has no Audio. Do I need an additional codec? Does anyone know how to solve this problem so I can use Nero and watch my DVD with sound?

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article.
    2. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select the Output tab. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them. Move the Volume sliders all the way to the right.
    3. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and a red light is coming from it, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    4. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Reboot and test.
    5. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    6. Reset the NVRAM.
    7. Reset the SMC.
    8. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data. For a possible shortcut, see this thread.
    9. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • Playing exported movie inside flash crashes app

We have 3 identical machines running the CS3 Web Premium
suite, on only one of them hen the programmer exports to a movie
and play it in a browser it's fine, but when he tries to play it
within the IDE itself flash completely crashes 30-50% of the time.
The complexity doesn't seem to matter, and other people can export
and preview in the app the same movie and they are fine, it's just
    his machine.
We have tried reinstalling, but he gets the same thing. Could
this be a memory issue? His machine is an Intel G5 quad core
running Tiger/Windows XP with 5GB of Ram. This only happens on the
windows side, but he hates running on the Mac side.

Actually this is running on windows boot camp, so it's on
it's own partition on the main hard drive running windowsXP. I've
seen other people complaining about this problem, but I've never
seen a solution posted. Some have suggested that it maybe saving on
remote drives messes it up, but there is only one partition for him
    to work on.
Is there a prefs file I can delete that will then be
    recreated like on macs?

  • CS6 crashing when sequence settings are changed

When I launch CS6 and select a new doc - it had default settings for the sequence. When I change them to DSLR - or anything but default......CS6 crashes, does not say why & shuts down. Tried changing them after setting everything else - same result.
    Running a HP 8770w Elitebook
    32G RAM
    SSD primary
    twin SATA's raided
nVidia K5000M (supported_cuda_card.txt in Adobe changed to read Quadro K5000M)
Any thoughts? I cannot get PPCS6 to run anything if I change the setting.

I'm sorry if I was not clear. I was referring to sequence presets. If you do not choose the proper one BEFORE working it screws up the footage. Sure, you can change the presets once working - but that crashed it too. Loved the comment though!!
On a fresh load of CS6 - the default sequence preset settings are other than DSLR - which is what I use. SO, you either change them in the first window, or do so after the sequence is open & running. Neither would work and crashed out as soon as you touch a button other than the default camera setting. We tried a number of different approaches to get the proper setting loaded. Nothing.
It turns out it's all an Adobe/nVidia issue. CS6 Premiere does not dig the Quadro K5000M.
But, after repeated attempts we found a workaround.
Fresh install of CS6 - restart
Edit the cuda_supported_cards.txt file as described in these Forums. Restart
Hack the card itself - restart
launched CS6 Premiere Pro & not only is the card there - but fully operational.
Results of speed tests in HD & 4K were amazing - this is realtime editing - finally.

  • Why does "export as a catalog" crash when following directions?

These are my steps: I select a set of folders, then all the photos, then "export as a catalog", choosing to export "smart Previews", and not "export negative files".  The process starts off fine with a flash window saying so, followed by the upper left progress bars tooting along. Unfortunately, after a while the screen says Lightroom has crashed. I restart Lightroom and then immediately close Lightroom with an integrity check and catalog optimization each time and get no warnings about problems. Have followed the procedure four times, with identical results, twice after a complete reboot. In short, "export as a catalog' fails catastrophically, not politely.
My computer setup: LR 5.7, Windows 8.1 x64, 32GB of memory, latest Intel chip, OS on SSD, saving (trying to export to) to large, on same SATA controller, mechanical drive. Hoping to eventually save to USB 3 drive. Windows Resource Monitor shows "free" memory at all points in the process. Have second SSD for camera Raw cache fwiw.
Lightroom status: LR catalog has ~110,000 photos. Successfully created "Smart Previews" for all photos before trying the Export as a Catalog process. About 20% of the 110,000 photos are from Nikon D800 and are RAW/DNG, thus large. The size of the "negative files" is about 1.8TB. The size of the Smart previews catalog is 109GB.
Other, probably related problems: When I select (control A) the 110,000 photos, LR becomes very sluggish. Click selecting the menu has erratic and delayed selection. Eventually, I am able to select the menu items and initiate the "export as a catalog." Otherwise, everything operates "normally."
My concern is that it appears that Lightroom cannot handle 110,000 photos, but I am hoping that some other explanation might exist.
    Bill Bane

    Rikk,
The basis if my question is this: Adobe touted "Smart Previews" as a super new means by which one could edit/rate/keyword photos without needing the hardware associated with handleing the "negatives files".
My goal is to export my photos (smart previews) and let my wife rate and keyword the photos on her own computer. The Smart Previews version of my 1800 photos database (which is over 1800GB) is only 109GB. This can easily be handled with a USB 3 drive (and perhaps even a SSD one!).
Each time I "export to catalog" to gain this (advertised) functionality, Lightroom crashes. If you or someone else has done an "export as a catalog" of a total database, with a photo database this large, then perhaps I should suspect my setup. Or, perhaps there is some other explination?

  • Export Movie DV AVI Embedding Options

    > Embedding Options Choose whether to include a project link in the exported file. When a file contains project link information, you can open and edit the original project from within another Adobe Premiere Pro project or from another application that supports the Edit Original command. Select Project from this menu to embed the link information in the exported file; choose None if you do not want to include the information. This option is not available for all formats, or when exporting a source clip. (See Edit a clip in its original application.)
I am trying to understand what this implies. Does a project link mean that it will open the avi in premiere is a singular AVI or the project that clip was created in?
    What use does this serve?
    Thanks.

I exported a short DV AVI with a project link embedded from Premiere3. I then opened the AVI in Premiere2 and said "Edit Original", it then proceeded to open Premiere3 and the project appeared the same as the WHOLE original project.
Am I correct to assume that will only work if I have all my source files in the same place or on the same computer.? ie I can't give this file to a another editor with Premiere and open it and edit original if he does not have any of the original media on his system?
    Thanks.

  • MOV vs AVI, ClassCastException when opening DataSink

    Hi,
I'm a little confused here. I've got this application that's reading an AVI file, doing some processing on it and the passing the processed data to file. I set the output content type of the processor like this:
processor.setContentDescriptor(new ContentDescriptor(FileTypeDescriptor.QUICKTIME));This works fine and a resulting .mov is produced. However, if I change the contenttype to MSVIDEO (in order to produce an .AVI file) I get the following ClassCastException:
    java.lang.ClassCastException
      at com.sun.media.multiplexer.video.AVIMux.writeFrame(AVIMux.java:398)
      at com.sun.media.multiplexer.video.AVIMux.doProcess(AVIMux.java:374)
      at com.sun.media.multiplexer.BasicMux.process(BasicMux.java:274)
      at com.sun.media.BasicMuxModule.connectorPushed(BasicMuxModule.java:406)
      at com.sun.media.BasicOutputConnector.writeReport(BasicOutputConnector.java:120)
at com.sun.media.BasicFilterModule.process(BasicFilterModule.java:408)This occurs when the following lines of code are executed:
          datasink = Manager.createDataSink(dataSource, outMediaLocator);
datasink.open();  // <-------- This gives the exceptionReally apprciate any comments, ideas, etc.. on this as for now I'm not able to produce .AVI files :-(
    -- Regars Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer,
I use the following code (and it works perfectly)
    processor.setContentDescription(new FileTypeDescriptor(FileTypeDescriptor.MSVIDEO));
    Hope that helps you.

  • System Preferences crashes when Sound is clicked

    Hello all,
This evening I discovered a problem in System Preferences. Whenever I try and click on "Sound", system prefs promptly crashes. This doesn't seem to happen with any of the other system prefs items. A restart did nothing. Any ideas? Thanks.
    -Jon

Reinstall the 10.4.3 Combo update, repair permissions after restart, and try the Sound prefpane again.

  • My video app shuts down when I try to view a movie . It crashes when I open it.

The video app shuts down as soon as I press a movie. How do it fix it?

I have this same problem. Tried the solution, but it didn't help. Is there another app out there, that will pull my video files for viewing?!
It's annoying because I took my videos with me traveling, but now I can't watch them!!!!!

  • ITunes 6 crashes when Store link is clicked.

Store briefly tries to load (I see the barber pole) then it crashes the app. What gives. I've got QT 7.0.3, btw.

a lot of people said that about itunes 5.0.1 (not itunes 5 but the folowing 1)
and i never had a problem except i couldnt delete songs etc
try this, you may have like a block of soft wear this worked for me last time and for people with store problems too:
go into finder and type itunes in the search bar
you should see lots of itunes related items, move down to applications section and move all the itunes programmes (all with the cd and music note symbol) into the trash
    empty the trash
    restrt mac
go on internet and download itunes 6 again
    all should work ok.
you wont have lost your songs becasue there are not an aplication but only a file, so when all is started they will come back, if theres no music, find the " itunes library file thats with all the music and click open with itunes
    all should be restored
