Exporting movie in final cut express to quick time movie

Does anyone know what ERROR : Not enough disk space means when trying to
export my movie to quick time movie?

It means exactly what it says.
Look in Finder, at the bottom of the window to see how much free space the drive you are trying to save to, has.
What Sequence setting are you using and how long is your project?

  • Correct way of importing an iMovie 6 movie into Final Cut Express?

    Hi,
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Any correct way to import an iMovie 6 HD movie into Final Cut Express for further editing?
    I tried.
    1. I Exported the iMovie, at Full Quality and it made a Quicktime version of that movie.
    2. I then Imported this Quicktime version into Final Cut Express.
    3. The audio was smooth, but at regular intervals, the video freezes for a second (and then moves on).
    4. The movie plays smoothly back in its original iMovie incarnation and in its Quicktime incarnation. Only in Final Cut Express is there this intermittent freezing. Stop and start.
    5. I have Final Cut Express 3.5.1 and iMovie 6 HD.
    Thank you,
    - Ross

"Full Quality" QuickTime export from iMovie gives you a DV stream which will need rendering in FCE. Rather than "Full Quality," choose "Expert Settings," and then the following:
    Video
    DV-DVCPRO - NTSC (assuming you're in USA)
    Sound
    48kHz
    16-bit

  • Final Cut Express 4 and I Movie

I am having trouble understanding how to work with videos on my new Mac. I do not understand how to import photos from my hard drive into I Movie or Final Cut Express. I also do not understand why I cannot download a slideshow DVD I created on my Windows Vista into Final Cut Express.

MPEG Streamclip can convert a VIDEO_TS folder to other formats. Use "Open DVD" from its "File" menu and choose the VIDEO_TS folder.

  • Exporting out of Final Cut Express

I just wanted to know if someone could tell me the suitable frame rates, options etc for best results out of Final Cut Express to then go into idvd to create a dv pal dvd.... thank you, any help would be great.

You don't need to do anything special to go to iDVD.
Use File>Export>QuickTime Movie (not QuickTime Conversion.
Select the destination where the export is to go.
    Include>Audio and Video.
Leave the Make Self Contained box unchecked. This creates a reference file (small and quick).
    Hit the Save box.
Drag this exported Reference file to iDVD.

  • Exporting problems in Final Cut Express

Hey, I've used Final Cut Express for a few years now but since I've recently switched to widescreen 1080p cameras, I've been struggling with getting the project burned in the high quality you expect.
When I export normally a quicktime movie,  and post to youtube it's fine. No problems there, high quality picture.
At first trying to go to dvd, it would change the video into a standard with bars on the sides. Then after a little research I discovered a help page by apple that explained the settings for exporting for idvd, using quicktime conversion. Now I've been getting by with that, and while it will burn it in the widescreen it was intended, the quality is not what it should be. The quality is not as good as when I post to youtube.
OK, that's one problem that plagues me, and i've been getting by with it but now I have an immediate problem on a project that needs help asap.
I am working on a project that contains photos in high quality, professional photos..... but when I export the project, these photos lose quality big time, and they are pixelated .....and it's doing this no matter how i export, normal quicktime and conversion..... someone please help! I need to have this project to my client asap, thank you!

    Congratulations on your achievement.
The next thing to do would be to post your question in the correct forum:

  • Audio track during export corrupted in Final Cut Express 4

I'm using final cut express in the latest version for the cut of a movie from different compresses sources from digital camperas (.mov, .avi, etc.). Everything is now set, the movie would be ready for export and looks good in preview.
After exporting the movie (no matter, if I compress the file or not) in the middle of a 5 minute take the audio track gets a problem (at 15mins. in the movie) and repeats the same sequence of audio (2 secs) until the end of the take (sorry don't know the correct english expression for that). After that other takes code fine again. Video is no affected and code without problem.
This error is repeatable on my machine, no matter which version of Final Cut Express I use (before and after the latest updates) and operating system (10.5 and 10.6). Also a reconnection of all videos and rendering of the complete movie did not help.
I'm really lost here, any ideas? I don't even know a workaround.

Thanks! Downloaded Streamclip and tried my first conversion. However, now I even made FCE crash;-) The H.264 codec seems not to be the right one. What would be the best one? Apple Intermediate Codec / Apple Motion Jpeg / Apple FCP uncompressed 10bit / Apple FCP Uncompressed 8 Bit / ..... I'm somehow lost in the possibilities and goo gle didn't help either. So I have to count on you again. Any suggestions?

  • Is iDVD compatible with quicktime movies from Final Cut Express 4?

I am trying to find out if iDBD can be used with Final Cut Express 4 output or is it just for imovie?  If it can be used with FCE4 what is the extension.  Thank you.

    Hi
Yes - IF YOU DO IT RIGHT.
    FCE/P to iDVD
    Several things
    • How to go from FCE/P to iDVD
    • Free space on Start-up hard disk
    • Encoding
    • Brand and type of DVDs used
    • Burn speed set
    • iDVD BUG
    • Chapters
How to go from FCE/P to iDVD I do
    • Disable Screen and Energy saver
    • IMPORTANT --> FIRST in FinalCut - Mix Down Audio under Sequence Menu / Render Only / Mix-down
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file
    • Select with Mark - Chapter Mark
    • Not as Self-Contained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION (IMPORTANT)
This QT.mov file I import into iDVD from within iDVD.
Free space on Start-up hard disk
I set a minimum of 25GB (for Mac OS and iDVDs temp files)
    Encoding
    • I use Pro Quality encoding
Brand and type of DVDs used
    • I use Verbatim
    • I use DVD-R
    Burn speed set
    • I set down this to x4 (or x1)
    iDVD BUG
    • One can not go back to movie-project for any alterations and then go back to
the iDVD project. It will notice and ask You to either Up-date or Cancel. Neither
    of them will work.
Medicine - Start a brand new iDVD project.
    Use of Chapters
    • I only use a to z and 0 to 9 in naming them. NO other symbol/letter !
    • NO Chapter-mark at very beginning - iDVD NEEDS TO set this by it self
    • No Chapter marks in or within two seconds from a transition
(Way around this last one - Export movie as QT full quality and NO Chapter marks
Import this into a new Movie-project and now You are free to set C-Ms where You want
them except at very beginning - still)
    Material used to build movie
    • video - I use streamingDV (or convert all other to this eg .mp4, .avi, .wmv etc)
    • audio - I use .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or from Audio-CD (44.1kHz) - no .mp3 or direct from iTunes
    • photos - I use .jpg - no .bmp etc
Trash iDVD pref. file and run Repair Permissions - and have a re-try.
    from post ??
May not be relevant, but I had the same problem with iDVD, where burned DVDs showed a green screen. It was cured by quitting Quicksilver and Quickeys as well as disabling sleep and screen-saving

  • Exporting ITunes to Final Cut Express

I recently purchased a song in ITunes 6 to use in a home movie I am creating in Final Cut Express 2.0.3 When I imported the file, Final cut would not read it. The file was blank. I open it up in IMovie and it plays fine. So I saved it as a clip and once again tried to import the clip into Final cut and it is still blank. I have done this before in ITunes 5 and it worked fine. Does this have to do with the protected file of the song?
    Any help?

    Thanks Charlie,
Yes the problem was with the protected file.
After posting this I tried importing the tune into I Movie and then selecting File/Share. I Movie forces you to also select a video clip for some reason when working with protected files. Next I selected "Quicktime/Expert settings/Share" - a menu appears then select "Sound to AIFF" and "41.1 kHz 16 bit stereo".
This seemed to do the trick and I appreciate your help but I was trying into to avoid burning a cd for one song.
I purchased this song to use only in a home movie so it seems unfortunate that these files are so protected. People buy music from I tunes rather than download it for free because they are honest so I don't understand why the music industry wants to allienate its customers.
Anyway, I really appreciate your help.
    Sincerely,
    Rob

  • Input iphone movie to Final cut express

Can I use Compressor to convert an iphone movie to a format that Final Cut Express 4 will accept?

Yes. Compressor can transcode the H.264 to Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). It can also convert the 44.1 kHz audio to 48. (Note: you could also do this in MPEG Streamclip.)

  • Exporting HDV from Final Cut Express

I'm trying to export a video as an mpeg-2 from Final Cut Express and burn it onto a CD-ROM for use on a PC with Adobe Premier. Could anyone help on the best way to do so?

There is no MPEG-2 export from FCE unless you have a third party encoder. You might try googling it. There are some expensive ones. Why does it have to be MPEG-2 BTW? Wouldn't QuickTime be better? It's fully support by Premiere on both platforms.

  • Exporting video from Final Cut Express to be put on the internet

Is there a way to export a flash file from Final Cut Express? I have a short video I am trying to put on my web site and I am finding that every format I try people who are using PC's are having trouble opening it. It all links back to Quicktime. Is there a way to not use Quicktime?

It doesn't come with FCE. You need a Flash encoder. There are different ones of varying quality. Flash of course comes with one. Episode has Flash as an add-on. Do a google search for Flash encoders. Many encoders, after they're installed, will work directly from within FCE using the QuickTime Conversion function. There'll be a format option for Flash.

  • Trouble importing .mov into Final Cut Express

I have a number of video clips given to me by a client in Italy and provided as .mov files. I can view them in Quicktime with no problem. I want to edit them. I have Final Cut Express 4 and when I import the files, I can see the file listed, I can hear the audio play but I can't see the video. Is this a conversion problem of some sort? Do I need to convert it first into a different format — if so, what format and what conversion software do you recommend (I tried a couple of free ones to no avail).
Thanks for any help you can provide!

    Hi everybody,
I've solved the problem by installing Final Cut 6 (latest version): when drag and drop the clip, the settings instantly suit to the clip properties (making rendering un-necessary).
The images are still stretched but, when I deselect "Show as Sq. Pixel" from the first of those 3 menus on the canvas display, images suddenly appear exactly as I wanted (even the images quality is exactly the same as the source).
Now the problem is Compressor (still latest version):
I've tried to convert with a lot of presets, but images are still vertically stretched and images are not as clear and sharp as the source.
    Which is the right preset??
    Thank you!

  • Sizing exported films in Final Cut Express 4.0

    Hello.
How can I determine the size of the film I am producing, in bytes?
A seemingly simple thing, driving me mad.  I need my film to be Dvd sized so less than 4.5gig you see?
I am using Final Cut Express 4.0
    Thanks.

Aha...I always used Quicktime conversion, thinking I was smart.
    I see!  Will try now.
    Thank you very much.
    Paul.

  • Restoring Final Cut Express Project from Time Machine

Hey, would like to restore a FCE project to macbook. i know you can restore individual files or folders- but i have tried to restore the main file, rendered folder and so on but i must not be selecting all files i need as there are missing clips in the project when i open it.
    1) is there an easy way to restore all files required?
    2) if not , what are the specific folders i need to restore so all the pathways to the capture clips still work?
any help would be fantastic, thanks for your help!
    cheers.

    Hello,
The only things you should restore are your *FCE project file* and any/all *source media files* (video clips, audio files, stills) that you used in the project. Don't even bother trying to recover render files, cache files or thumbnail files - they will be unusable.
The default location for your FCE files & folders is in +yourusername/Documents/Final Cut Express Documents+ folder. Note: in the event you changed your FCE scratch disk location, the Final Cut Express Documents folder will be located wherever you specified the scratch disk location to be. You may need to look through your TM backup to find these folders.
Usually your *FCE project file* is in your +Final Cut Express Documents+ folder, which also contains a folder called +Capture Scratch+ - that is where your video clips should be. Audio, stills - they will be wherever you saved them.
Note: in the event you saved your FCE project file, video clips, etc. in other locations than the default locations, you will have to search for them, as there is no way we could tell you where they might be - you could have saved them anywhere.
Also note: when you restore a project like this, it is normal to get an Offline Clips error message when you first open the project; follow the dialogs to Reconnect Media.
If FCE cannot locate certain media files when you Reconnect Media, try this: in the FCE Browser, control-click the name of the offline clip; then select Item Properties. In the window that opens, see if there is an entry in the Source row; that is probably the location where the clip was; you can use that location as a guide to hopefully find the clip in your Time Machine backup.
