Exporting need to automate 2 different image sizes to 2 different folders (as a default setting)

This has been a 'why is this not possible yet' since LR1.
Often photographers need to export as:
1000px @ 72dpi
4000px @ 300dpi
So that clients can have a screen friendly & a print version.
Sure - I can do it once and then just do it again - changing all the inputs, sizes etc, but this should be a standard dialog in the export box.
This way the photographer can have a preset at their standard sizes and just CHANGE THE FOLDERS (with option of changing the file name)
All Adobe needs to do is add a check box for export to second folder with file size options dialog....
So simple - been waiting years for this to be a standard option...

You could also use the built in hard drive publish services. Create two services, one for each location/size. Within each publish service, create a smart folder that refers to a single collection. Then dragging a photo to that one collection will queue the images for export in both services.
You'd still have to visit each of the services to click "publish."
Removing the images from the collection automatically deletes the from the hard drive on the next publish, also.

  • When I export from Lr to CS3 my image size is 8x12 roughly, why?

I shoot RAW with a 5d mark2 I export from lr to cs3 in my workflow. I am wanting to create a gallery wrap at an image size of 24x36, when I go to create my negative space my exported image size from Lr is only 8x12, why would that be? I don't know what to do or how to make my image larger without loosing quality? I have never noticed this before? Why is it doing this now?

It will be the settings in your export menu.

  • Need help with Elements and image size on my web site.

I have edited my photos in elements and loaded them on my website but when I click on them on the site to enlarge, some get really really big and others are fine. I don't know what Im doing wrong.
    Any suggestions

Go to File>save for web. This brings up a dialog. Enter 800px or so for the longest side, check "constrain proportions" , and for your purpose you will no doubt want to save as JPEG - look under presets. I usually select high quality.

  • Logic error: "Image size error [...] too large" when setting a group chat picture *UNDER* 512px

Skype version: 4.3.0.37 on Arch LinuxI'm able to set a group chat's image to this image (513x513px, 60240bytes), but as soon as I crop it to something smaller, like this image (512x512px, 59544bytes), it gives me the following error message:even though the image is actually smaller than before. So the error message shows up for images that are of size less than or equal to 512px, giving a misleading information saying that the image is too big while the actual code is restricting it to a minimum of 513px. Edit: Also, there's a bug with the community. In making this post, I used my website to host the images, but then the forums automatically replaced every instance of my Skype username with "[Removed for privacy]", including in the link tags. So the links were mutated into "http://[Removed for privacy].me/misc/skypebug/513x513.jpg" etc.

Yes this is a real pain. I'm using v 4.3.0.37 with Fedora having the same issue. This seems not due to te image dimensions. If anyone found a workround?

  • How to check image size and 500PX upload action please!

    Hi,
    Two questions please.
    1. How do you check the overall size of an image in Lightroom 4 before exporting.  In Photoshop it is image/size so what is it in Lightroom please?
    2. I have Canon raw files and tiffs and want to upload to 500PX and other web site galleries in one action.  Is it possible?  How do you set up an action to convert an image, say a tiff, to a certain size and then save as a jpeg and upload to 500pX using the plugin all in one action?  At the moment I am saving the tiff as a jpeg to a correct size using a pre set, but then exporting to another folder ready to either manually upload or re-import to Lightroom as a jpeg then upload. Surely there is a quicker way than this?

    1. The size is visible in the metadata panel, set the dropdown to EXIF. In addition, in the Grid, with Ctrl-J, you can set the options so that you will see the cropped size in the rectangle surrounding the photo.
    2. You cannot, in one action, upload to multiple galleries. Each upload is its own action. I don't know if there is a plug-in to let you upload from LR to 500px in one action; clearly there are plug-ins for Flickr and Smugmug and several others. There should be no need to re-import. Normally, the plug-ins I mentioned will take a TIFF, resize it according to your directions, convert to JPG and upload.

  • [Macro Crop VS Manual Crop] Crop position out of image Size

Hi,I have been trying to crop my images using Macro.
When i do it manually, Upon pressing the crop button, the Crop is positioned in the MIDDLE of the Image size which is alright for me.
I'm Cropping it into a square. The problem is when I choose to crop it with Macro, It returns an image with larger height creating this blank space in my imageI have attached two images, One is with Macro, the prblem.
The other without macro which is what i wish macro to do(Crop position Middle, It's like slicing the excessive image on both side off. Without having to increase the image which leads to blank white space
Trying to get this with Macro

    Jonathan920 wrote:
Size is different for different image. When i record the Crop, it records that particular image's Crop Position, Size etc. It doesn't automatically detect the image size and not crop perhaps based on % or whatever.
I don't think you understood me.  Try recording your action again, but before you do, set the rulers to Percentage (by right clicking inside the ruler).
Select the Crop tool, and in the Options bar add values for width and height of 1 and 1.  Don't try and specify units.  Just type 1 in the first field, tab to the next, and enter another 1.  This will give you a square crop with a pixel dimension of the images shortest side.
I suspect this might work, so do give it a try.

  • Camera raw reducing image size

All of a sudden Camera Raw is automatically reducing my image sizes. I cannot figure out why. The images were shot with a Nikon 5100 if that has any value.
The original jpg size is 15MB (jpg) and have a NEF extension.
I've tried opening the image in Photoshop and then going through Bridge to Camera Raw, and opening the image through Bridge to Photoshop and the image gets reduced from 16 inches to 5 inches keeping 300 dpi.
    Thanks in advance.!

The only important “image size” is pixel dimensions.
JPGs have a JPG extension.  An NEF extension means it’s a raw file.
Things that affect DPI/PPI and pixel dimensions are in the workflow options link at the bottom of the main ACR window, and only if you output the images to some other format in ACR.

  • Why jpeg file exported from Aperture with 300 dpi's it opens with 72 dpi's on PS ( image size)? I've tried several combinations and all give different results. And I am confused on what is the best workflow for me.

    Ok.
    My workflow is
RAW > Aperture Library > export jpeg high resolution 300 dpi's > one file on PS > edit > Save us jpeg. The I realised that files from PS were being save in a smaller size from the ones exported form Aperture. That is when I went o see <image size> on PS and files were with 72.
Since ten I've trying different things
    1. Aperture > export as PSD > open on PS > edit > Save us jpeg = small file (around 15 MB)
    2. Aperture > export as jpeg high resolution 300 dpi's > open on PS > CHANGE dpi's to 300 on <image size> edit > Save us jpeg = big file (Huge, actually)
What am I doing wrong? Would someone give me guidance and tell me what is the best workflow, considering I edit photos to deliver to my clients and I shall give them 300 dpi's.
    Thank you

  • How can I control the image size when I export form iphoto, the choice is too limited, I need to send a photo under 3 MB but if I choose high quaulity it is only 1.1 and i need to keep the best quaulity I can. Thanks for help.

How can I control the image size when I export form iphoto, the choice is too limited, I need to send a photo under 3 MB but if I choose high quaulity it is only 1.1 and i need to keep the best quaulity I can. Thanks for help.

Any image can only be as large as the Original. With a program like Photoshop you can UpRes an image and get it to a bigger size, larger files size as well, but the actual quality of the image will be degraded, depending on the UpRes system and the original quality of the image.
iPhoto is not the program to be doing that in and I don't think it even has that option.
So I suspect the image you are trying to send isn't much bigger than what you are getting. You can also try Exporting it from iPhoto to yopur desktop and see what size you end up with. If it is still that 209KB +/- file size then that is the size of the original image.

  • PS CC Image Size Looks Different

This may be in here somewhere, but I didn't see it....
I very recently switched from CS6 to CC.
I edited an image, made a selection, blurred the selection, did my normal processing, then sent it back to LR5.
In LR5 I cropped and exported to 1280 px on the longest side.  Image looked as edited...
Later I got to thinking about sharpening and decided to try cropping and resizing in CC so I could sharpen just the areas that were sharp.
Cropped the image as desired, then did image/image size and cropped to 1280 px.  The area I blurred is DRASTICALLY different - much blurrier.
Went back in history and did a stamp visible, then repeated the crop and resize.  Image now looks as it should.
Tried it with the "scale styles" turned ON and OFF.  No difference.  In theory I've inserted both images.....
This appears to be very different behavior than I've seen in previous versions.  What do I have set wrong?

    Hi Noel,
I opened the image from LR5 as a standard image.
On the original layer, I did the selection of the background.  Feathered it 1 px.
With the selection on, I duplicated it, which gave me a layer that only contained the background.  This way, when it's blurred, it can't blur pixels where the sharp areas are.
I converted the new layer to a smart object.
I then did a filter/blur/gaussian blur of 4 px so I'd have a smart filter.  Looked, fiddled, adjusted the filter eventually to 6 px.
From that point I did my normal
    clone/heal on a layer
dodging on a 50% gray overlay layer
burning on a 50% gray overlay layer
Adjust contrast/brightness/whatever on a curves layer
Adjust saturation on a hue/sat layer
    save the psd...
Crop using the crop tool - no set size, just removing excess stuff
Do image/image size to resize to 1280 px -- this is the point where the background blur changes
IF, on the other hand, prior to cropping, I do a merge visible (with alt down - stamp visible?), I can then crop and resize and the background doesn't change...
I presume I"m doing something wrong in the image size dialog, but I don't see it.  I've tried it with the scale styles on and off - no difference...
If there's any other info you need, let me know.

  • Scale a layer so it matches the image size. (Automate)

I need to scale a layer so it matches the image size.
The problem is that i need to automate this procedure and apply on a range of images all with different resolutions. (This is why i can't use CTRL+T and just drag the corners of the layer so it fits the image)
The layer that i need to resize is 2000x1500 pixels.
The images that i need the layer to match varies between 3000x2000 pixels and 5000x4000 pixels. (I know all about quality loss when i scale UP so please don't give me a lecture this).
It doesn't matter if the layer proportions changes.
    I use Photoshop CS5.

You state layer but do not state much more. Do you know how many layers these files will have. Will it always be the same layer in the layer stack that needs to be transformed. You state that it doesn't matter if the layer proportions changes by that do you mean you don't care if the layers aspect ration changes and its content becomes very distorted. Layer also supports transparency they need not be a rectangle transforming these layers will not fill in the transparent area or make the rectangular.
You may be able to automate this with a script.  Install the ScriptListener and perform the transformation you want to do is steps. Use Ctrl-T set the anchor point to the top left corner and move the layers top left corner to the canvas's top left corner by entering 0 in the x and y fields . Then do a Menu Image size just to get the width and hight of the canvas in pixels and to make sure that the transform is written to Photoshop's script files. Then do a Ctrl-T again with the anchor point top left set the w and h fields to the width and height pixel sizes of the canvas.  Also record these steps i an action so you can see how Photoshop does the transforms.  You will see Photoshop records the steps and the value he used for the move to Top Left corner were calculated from the Layer original location.  You would need to make this same calculation in the script. Un install the plug-in and extract the transforms steps from the Photoshop script files you may now have the information you need to do the transforms you will still have to learn Photoshop scripting to learn how to get document canvas sizes and layer sizes and process the layers. Not an easy task.....

  • I need to export a photo at around 1meg file size, and dont seem to be able to do it in the presets can anyone help please ,I shoot on a canon 5d

I need to export a photo at around 1meg file size, and dont seem to be able to do it in the presets can anyone help please ,I shoot on a canon 5d

I believe Frank is referring to the end use (e.g., for print or on-screen use).
Until he returns, I can tell you that I ran a quick test using an image from the Aperture 3 training book library which was as follows:
Camera = Canon EOS 5D Mark II
    Master resolution = 5616 x 3744 (21 MP)
I was able to export to a JPEG with end file size of 1 MB as follows:
Export Presets drop-down > select 'Edit' option
Selected preset name 'JPEG - 50% of Original Size' > change percentage value to 40% > change DPI value to '300' > click OK to set as current default > Export version to desktop.
The exported JPEG has a resolution of 2246 x 1498 and appears on screen to have the same image quality of the original in Aperture.
Note - I did not change the default Image Quality slider in the Export Preset dialog (which left it at 10).
Basically, you will need to play around with the settings until you find the appropriate values to arrive at an image version you want.

  • CS5 Image Processor - One script, different image sizes and save locations

    Hello guys!
is it possible to make one script to convert several images to different image sizes which should be saved in different locations?
The xml structure is clear, but photoshop accepts only the second "script" if i load a test xml file with two scripts in it.
    Thanks a lot !!!
    Best Regards,

  • Need a script for squaring images of various sizes please

Hello, new to this group but have been using photoshop for years doing basic editing. I have never done any sripting. I have a project on my hands. I have a lot of image of various sizes with some taller or wider than others. I need to make all these images exactly square though. Currently they vary and are wider or taller etc.
I was wondering what process I could use hopefully with batch editing but was told scripting might be the answer to automate this process as I have about 8,000 images.
So for example one image might be 200 pixels wide and 400 pixels high and another is 100 pixels high and 600 pixels wide and so on. I would need the
    1st example to be 400 x 400 and the 2nd example 600 x 600.
    I am using photoshop 5.5
The software for a shopping cart is using a feature that allows you to zoom in on the image but if it is not perfectly square the image doesn't appear
well in the software. Using magento e-commerce.
Thanks for your help and any thoughts on this project of mine.
    Dave

Here a simple script the does what I think you want.
// squares the canvas. uses the background color
    var doc = activeDocument;
    var maxDim = Math.max( doc.width, doc.height );
    doc.resizeCanvas( maxDim, maxDim, AnchorPosition.MIDDLECENTER );
