Exporting Operations Log to file

Hi,
We have a requirement to retain the Management Operations logs i.e. who created what, and when. Can anyone point a noob in the right direction please?

Have you seen any sample apps on the web?  I don't have too much time to code something, so wondering if there is anything like a client app to download logged events with a GUI similar to the web site, where I can plug in a subscription and get logs.
Thanks, Jason

  • The export operation failed to create an image file

    I've been experiencing bizarre behavior when attempting to export images to my Usb-connected card reader. After reading some threads on this form, I was convinced that my reader was defective. Same problem on a brand-new reader.
    The specific behavior was as follows: I attempted to export roughly 150 custom-named 500 KB image files to the memory card. The last 15 or so failed to transfer and I got the message, "the export operation failed to create an image file for the versions identified below."
    Trashing VP list didn't help. What did was changing the custom name. There was nothing particularly unusual about the original custom name and the new one was virtually identical. After changing the name, the export worked without a hitch.
    Has anyone experienced similar behavior? Any ideas what's going on?

    problem was that the NEW card reader was faulty as well. My luck!

  • Export all logs into ascii files

    Hi,
    is there a way to automatically export all logs created with SignalExpress (I use the 2009 edition) automatically to ascii files, taking the names of each log as a base for the file name?
    I am aware of the export to LVM/Ascii possibility, but this requires to manually edit the file name for each file.
    So what I am looking for would be a way to apply the Options->Logging->"Automatically export log to text file" _afterwards_. Is there a way?
    Cheers,
    Niels

    Hi Nils,
    There is currently no utility or simple mechanism built into SignalExpress that will take an already created log, and then export it to ASCII.
    I can think of a way to do it, as a "workaround" to say the least (assuming Time Waveform or Scalar logs).
    1. Create a new SignalExpress project.
    2. Import the logs you want to export to ASCII.
    3. Go to Tools >> Options... and in the Logging section, set Automatically export log to text file = Yes.
    4. Switch to Playback mode and select the first log.
    5. Drop a Formula step and leave the default values (with Formula Y=x0)
    6. Rename the output of the formula step as desired.
    7. Right-click on the output of the formula step and select "Enable Recording".
    8. Run the project.
    From this point out, running the project will create a new (duplicate) log, and inside the new log folder will also be the exported ASCII file. By changing the active log, you can export each log.
    Note 1: I did try using the Batch Process Log feature to export all logs at once, but SignalExpress returned an error after the first log...
    Note 2: I'm not sure the names will be generated exactly as you would have liked.
    I completely realize this is NOT ideal!

    Ok, you need to clean uninstall Palm desktop 6.2. Install Palm desktop 4.1.4 and download and install documents to go version 6.
    Here are the clean uninstall instructioins for Vista.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to Start --> Documents -->
    Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and
    copy. Then go to your PC desktop right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    If this is the first time you are installing Palm desktop and encountering a problem, skip the previous step.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer.
    Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below.
    C:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or
    PalmOne
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata
    *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go
    into your control panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck
    hide hidden files.
    Once this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your PC Operating System.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to delete. To make sure we have a good copy of the current registry, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    Go to start on the PC, in the search field type "regedit.exe" without quotes.
    Highlight COMPUTER, go to File --> Export. Should pop up with a Save As box.
    Current location is fine, should be in My Documents or save to a location you will remember. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer.
    Then reinstall your palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. Use the username that is on the handheld.

    I think exporting to IDML only works for some errors. I had an Indesign error 4 recently and it didn't work for that - in fact I had to recreate the whole document. There is a file recovery service though at the following url but unfortunately you have to pay a fee:
    http://markzware.com/support/faq/recover-bad-file-service/
    Alternatively, you could try resetting your Indesign preferences.
    My knowledge is quite limited when it comes to reading the crash code that you posted - perhaps someone-else on the forums may be able to be of more help.

  • How can we do save and export operation in single step using Plugin?

    Hi all,
         I want to save and export a design in Adobe illustrator  to a specific folder using a plugin. For example i created a design called test , i want to save the test.ai and its converted jpeg form (test.jpeg) in to a specific folder using a plugin instead of using normal save and export operation (File ->Save, File->Export). I want to do the save and export operations in single step.
    Is it possible to do using the plugin?
    Thanks in advance
    Sreejesh K V.

    I have tried both option and still the file is not being saved
    This is what i tried:
    const char *fileFormatName="TIFF";AIDocumentSuite *sAIDocument;
    std::string abc =
    "D:\\Sreejesh\\test.tiff";ai::UnicodeString myString(abc);
    ai::FilePath aiFile1(myString);
    AIErr err = sAIDocument->WriteDocumentWithOptions(aiFile1, fileFormatName,
    kFileFormatExport | kFileFormatWriteAs | kFileFormatWrite ,
    false);
    SPBasicSuite *aBasic = message->d.basic;
    AIDocumentSuite *fSave;
    aBasic->AcquireSuite (kAIDocumentSuite,kAIDocumentVersion, (const void**)&fSave);
    const char *fileFormatName="Photoshop PSD Export";std::string abc =
    "D:\\Sreejesh\\test.psd";ai::UnicodeString myString(abc);
    ai::FilePath aiFile1(myString);
    AIErr serror=fSave->WriteDocument(aiFile1,fileFormatName,
    false);

    Hello, Take a look at the KnowledgeBase article below. I think that the root of the problem your encountering is that the functions you are using are available only in LabVIEW 8.5 and later. Could you try to export the task in MAX itself? Otherwise would it be possible to upgrade LabVIEW? You may have to do that or go thorugh a potentially very difficult process of installing an earlier version of MAX.

  • Cannot perform export operation

    I am trying to export a table (Oracle 8.1.6, iAS 1.0.2) , but I get the following error:
    Could not find the preference storage for temporary directory. Cannot perform export operation. Contact the administrator. (WWV-17101)
    When I try to export an application and I 'Click here to download the export script file (2618 bytes). ', the browser shows a url of http://schmidm-zx/pls/portal30/docs/313.sql, however, this file doesn't exist anywhere on the machine.
    What is going on?
    null

    Martin,
    Export/Import of Tables is different from other exports(application/component/database objects)
    All the other exports generate a sql script however export of table generates a dump file.
    For import of components you need to run sql script from sql plus, however for import of table you need to run Oracle Imp utility.
    For export of table alone, you need to specify the temporary directory with sufficient privileges in global settings.
    For ex in unix machines it can be /var/tmp and for NT machines it can be c:\temp directories.

  • Wanted: Simple, Straightforward Logging of File Opens and File Closes Per This Specification -- Is Windows Capable of This?

    What is needed is for Windows to log every attempt to open any file on the system.  The log shall contain a timestamp, name of file, the type of access required
    (read only, write only, read and write, exclusive use, non-exclusive use), and name of the process or service that wants the file open.  Also there must be a record of how the operating system disposed of the request.  If the open is successful,
    say so. If not, say so, and why.  We had this info on the mainframe in 1972.  It would be useful to log file close events, as well.  The close event will disclose what the program did to the file.  For example, did the program write into
    the file?  Did the program read from file?  Did the program truncate the file and write?  Did the program extend the file?  Did the program change the name of the file?   Did the program change any file attributes and, if so,
    which ones?  A file can have multiple streams.  Disclose which streams were affected.
    There is a Security Auditing feature in Windows that doesn't meet this specification.  So that is not the answer.   What is the answer?

    I have downloaded Process Monitor and tried it on my lab computer. It certainly is comprehensive in its output. I'm going to try it on the production machines in hope of catching clues as to who does what to whom in the file system that is causing
    3rd party software to reboot the computer. The author of the troublesome program claims he must reboot the computer at the drop of a hat. For example, some file he must open right now is "locked" by some other program, not his program mind you, some
    other program. Okay. So what else is running on the production system that may be doing this? Prove that some other program is doing this.  The fact that we must log all file system activity up to the moment of reboot poses a special issue.
    Will the Process Monitor log lose any file system events because it cannot properly close the log as the system is being rebooted?  It is interesting the Federal Government is fine with Microsoft delivering an operating system that has no comprehensive
    file access logging capability.  Process Monitor may do it.  But one cannot run that behemoth 24/7/365.  (I hear you saying "Oh.  But we have Security Audits."  A CISSP may be impressed with that one.)

    Is there something I'm missing or not considering? The tab completion still works, it just displays that message every time inline and it's really annoying. Also I searched google, the wiki, and the forums for any information regarding this and either my search-fu isn't strong enough or it's not showing up elsewhere.

    Rename the "enable" and "disable" aliases. They are zsh hash table operators.

  • HELP! FLASH CS6 "The export operation failed because it ran out of memory"

    Hey guys, really need your help on this one. I can't seem to export my flash animation video. It kept failing and prompting that "The export operation failed because it ran out of memory"
    Anyone knows a solution to this. It will be very much appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
    It totally depends on what's the content you are trying to export. The reason is as simple as it says. The content might be really huge that it ran out of memory. Any info you can provide on the kind of stuff you have in the file?

    Hello,
           Details u needed.
    SUMMARY
    The Fixmapi.exe tool is included with Internet Explorer 5 & above to detect and aid in resolving conflicts with Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) files that may affect your ability to send and receive mail and faxes from other programs.
    FixMAPI ( What Exactly it does ?).....
    Makes a backup copy of the current copy of mapi32.dll on the client computer, and restores mapi32.dll with the MAPI stub library, mapistub.dll.
    Quick Info
    Exported by:
    mapistub.dll
    Called by:
    Client
    Implemented by:
    Windows
    DWORD STDAPICALLTYPE FixMAPI(void);
    Return Values
    If the function succeeds, the return value is a non-zero value.
    If the function fails, the return value is zero. To get extended error information, call the Microsoft Platform Software Development Kit (SDK) function, GetLastError.
    Remarks
    FixMAPI does not replace the current mapi32.dll file if the file is marked as read-only.
    FixMAPI does not replace the current mapi32.dll if Microsoft Exchange Server is installed on the computer.
    When FixMAPI makes a backup copy of the current copy of mapi32.dll on the computer, it assigns the backup copy a name different from "mapi32.dll". It then directs subsequent calls intended for that assembly to the backup copy

  • Flash CS6, QuickTime: The export operation failed because it ran out of memory.

    Exporting a QuickTime movie file seems to be an old issue with previous versions too. In CS6 I always get the error message: "The export operation failed because it ran out of memory." I've got tons of memory and have allocated increasing amounts to the cache with no success.
    My small and fairly simple file was created with Flash CS5 which seemed to work fine at the time of creation. I've tried everything recommended online but with no luck so far. BTW, I reinstalled CS5 and tried that too but it just hangs now, and there's no error message.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    (OS X 10.7.4)

    If I may join this discussion...  I loaded up CS6 two days ago and have just completed my first 60 second animation using it.  Like everybody else here, it all went fine until I tried to export it to QuickTime – something that has never been problematic before.
    I ended up exporting it as a swf and opening that in CS4.  Then I could export it, but the resulting QuickTime movie was over 500 MB in size!  Okay, so then I opened it in QuickTime Pro and exported it from there.  This brought the file size down to a far more reasonable 35 MB, but now the soundtrack has gone!  So now I am having to replace the sound in Final Cut Pro.
    This is a real palaver – and not conducive to heaping praise on CS6 when questioned.  I note that there is talk of Adobe rectifying this "bug", but it would be really good to hear from somebody at Adobe with:
    a) An apology
    b) An estimated time of delivery
    c) A best practice work round
    But I'm guessing that anybody that works at Adobe will be the last person to read this...

  • Single record in Export Error log - Essbase Adapter

    We are using FDM to load data to Essbase cubes. Currently in the export.err log file, we are getting the kickout details for a single record at a time. Is there any setting that would give us the entire list of kickouts in a sinlge log?
    Thanks.

    Use a load rule to load a data and you will get a error log listing all errors up to the max errors specified in the Essbase configuration. To use this method from FDM instead of the standard Adapter load check the Enable String Load option in the Adapter configuration settings and specify the name of the Load Rule you wish to use. Personally I would always go for the Load Rule option when loading Essabs from FDM
