You cannot export the Address Book itself. The AB is a specialized view of the Outlook contact folders designated to be include in the AddressBook. What needs to get exported are the individual contact folders which comprise the Outlook via the Outlook export

Dear all,
My program will send email through Outlook 2010(in cache mode). Sometime it may prompt the address book out and pend here, and we need to manually click "OK" to let the program run again. Although we re-write the program in
Java and send by JavaMail now, but we are interested why the address book will prompt out.
There are no pattern that we can guess the reason. Different recipient, different subject/content/have attachment or not can casue the address book prompt. But same email with same content/everythings may not cause prompt before and/or after.
We try to change to offline address book and need manual sync, problem still occur.

Firstly, there is no such thing as a "trusted program" to Outlook. It only trusts COM addins, all other applications will cause a security prompt unless you have an up-to-date anti-virus app installed (if you can control the client environment).

Outlook 2010 Address Book Disabled - Help Needed

A couple of weeks ago, I updated my device software and my BBDesktop software. Subsequently, my Outlook Address book will not sync and the Desktop software shows it disabled. Does anyone have any ideas on a fix? If not, what is a good BB help number to call?

I can't import contacts from Outlook to Address Book

I've tried to do the research before asking this question, but I can't get this to work. How do you import contacts from Microsoft Outlook to Address book? When I try to export from Outlook, the only option I have is .csv file, it doesn't give me an option to export as a vcard. I've exported to a .csv file and tried importing this into Address Book as a text file, and it opens up a window called Text File Import. When I click OK nothing happens. I'm new to the Mac world so I don't know what I'm doing wrong or what I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

One way if you are still accessing an email account with Outlook is the following:
In Contacts, click the contact you want to send as a vCard or select all to send all, and then on the Actions menu, click Forward as vCard.
All contacts will be added to a new message created as separate vCard attachments. Send the message to an email account you are accessing with the Mail.app on the Mac.
Create a folder on the Mac desktop or in your location of choice and save all vCard attachments received via email to this folder.
Launch Address Book and at the menu bar, go to File > Import and select vCards navigating to the folder that contains the vCard files sent from Outlook.

OWA 2010 address book error retrieving free/busy information

Hi All
I get the following error when viewing a contacts free/busy information in the OWA 2010 address book.
Outlook 2010 clients cannot view contacts free/busy information either. There's a "not connected" error on the client.
This issue started after a service pack or update was applied. Which one I don't know as it was done by another admin.
Has anyone seen this error before or does anyone know what this error is pointing to?

Free/busy data and the offline address book are two separate services.
Free/busy uses Exchange Web Services (EWS). The offline address book uses a different web service connecting to the OAB virtual directory.

How Do I Import Outlook Express Address Book?

I have a PC running WXP using Outlook Express as a mail client. And, I have a MAC that I'm trying to get email set up on. I'm trying to get completely off WXP as a home computing environment. Accordingly, I'd like to import the Outlook Express address book from the PC into Address Book on the MAC so I don't have to re-key all those entries. But, I guess I'm not entering the correct magic words, because I haven't been able to find anywhere online exactly how to do this. The Address Book application implies that it can import a csv file, but I can't find out what the format of the CSV file is supposed to be. I exported the OE Address book to a WAB file on my WXP system, and mounted that disk to MAC, and I can see the file, but there doesn't seem to be any way to import it.
I can create a CSV file fairly easily in Windows if I know the format MAC address Book expects it to be in so I can import it.
So, I need a clue. I'm surprised to find out how difficult this seems to be, given the general user-friendliness of the Apple environment, and that no one else seems to have had the problem.

Haven't done this yet but when I was getting my new iMac, we googled it at the Apple store and saw a link to advice on how to do this through Mozilla - apparently you have to transfer it to Mozilla first and then to the Mac. Hope this helps.
And btw, any other new converts having trouble with their new iMac's freezing up? Here I was all ready to be part of the Apple Army and loved it for the first few days -- only to have it freeze on me so often that I'm ready to bring this lemon back to the store.

Outlook Express address book to Entourage

Changing from a PC to a MacBook Pro - Is there any way I can export my PC Outlook Express address book to my MacBook Pro? I am using Entourage and would like to have my address book exported rather than having to type everything. Is this possible or do I have a lot of typing to do?

've exported the address books into a variety of file types within the iMac: ldif, html, xls, (comma separated) rtf, txt and and none of those file types will import into either Entourage or Apple Mail on my G4. I've been racking my brain for weeks on this trying to find some conversion software or format to easily get these addresses into my Mail applications without having to tediously enter in each one by one.
Address Book (note that Address Book is the Apple utility for managing your contacts - Mail makes use of it) should be able to import either comma separated or tab separated text files. For the former the extension must be .csv and for the latter .txt.
Tab-separated (or delimited if you prefer) is often better, as addresses may have a comma in them.

Exporting mail and address book to PC?

Hi everyone,
My wife recently got a PC for work (She wanted a Mac, but what can you do?). We have a Mac in our home office. The Mac is the most up-to-date with e-mail and addresses. She would like to export all the addresses and contact info from the Mac to the PC, and synchronize or export all the old e-mails to the PC. How can we do this?
The PC came with Windows XP, Outlook, and Outlook Express.

Regarding messages, this isn't always easy since Outlook and Outlook Express don't use the mbox format.
Something to try. There is a collection of AppleScripts called Mail Scripts that can be downloaded from the following link.

The script to use is Archive Messages (Mail) which moves messages from the selected mailbox(es) to an archive mailbox or export them to standard mbox, plain or rich text files for backup purposes or import into other applications. You can select to move all messages or only messages sent within or certain period as well filter messages based on their read and flagged status.
Try exporting the messages as plain or rich text files for import into either Outlook or Outlook Express.
Regarding Address Book contacts, probably best to export all contacts as a tab-delimited text file for import to the Outlook or Outlook Express Address Book.

Moving contacts from Outlook to address book on mac

I need help getting contact from outlook to address book on my mac.

I believe Outlook should have an option to export contacts as a vcard. do so, move the vcard to the mac and drop it onto Address Book there.

How can I export a group email address to a .csv file. I can export the whole address book but it looses the group listings.

I have an address book in Thunderbird and want to export one group listing to a .csv file. I couldn't find a way of exporting one group so exported the whole address book then opened the .csv file and was going to remove the all addresses except the group but the group name was not in the file.
Is it possible to export the group listing.

Open Address Book, select the mailing list in the left pane, then Tools/Export, select csv (comma separated) format, name the file, click Save.

Problems with outlook and address book contacts: my outlook contacts had around 3,000 entries. Outlook duplicated by itself and now outlook and address book have each over 340,000. What should I do?

Problems with outlook and address book contacts: my outlook contacts had around 3,000 entries. Outlook duplicated entries and have now 340,000. I reinstalled microsoft office and, thus, outlook, and reinstalled mac OS X system and applications. While I managed to delete outlook contacts so that I can re-sync with my blackberry, the contacts at Mac Address Book were not deleted and still have over 340,000 entries. I do not mind deleting all contacts since I have back up, but I have not been able to delete them. Also, when I go at Address Book and try to delete or merge duplicated entries, the system takes forever and never ends because of such large amount of entries. Worse, when I do so I run out of RAM memory.
My Macbook pro is just 2 months old.
What should I do? Is there a way to delete my Mac Address Book without having the problem above?

Importing Windows Outlook Express address book

I have been trying to import an Outlook Express address book (which is stored on a DVD) to MS Entourage with not much luck
I can't seem to find an 'option' to import an external address book.
The only options available seem to be to import Entourage docs/archives etc.
Can anyone help?

I've been looking into this myself and there are a number of possibilities. You can't just import an address book but importing all your contacts can be done. Search discussions here for the topic (the Mail and Address Book forum has stuff on getting contacts out of Outlook) and also Google the web, there are several threads elsewhere. There are even shareware utilities to help.
Also look under Mac 101: Shifting From PC in the Support section here. Apple has a little bit to say on it, although not terribly helpful to me.

Not directly; OE is not supported by iTunes. You need full Outlook. Address Book in later versions of Windows is supported.
