Exporting Phase One Camera Files

I'm confused...
It showed in the Richard Burbridge using a Phase One back in the demo.
I can't get any of our Phase One raw files to export larger than the 72ppi. I'm I doing something wrong?
Hollis

Hi Hollis, welcome to the forum.
Aperture doesn't support RAW files from any MF back (yet?) - what you are getting is based on an embedded thumbnail.
I guess that the video cheated somewhat by having Capture One doing the converting and dropping the results into a hot folder to import that into Aperture.

  • Phase One Raw File have lines in them (Lightroom 2.1 ACR 5.1)

when importing Phase One P25 raw files, Lightroom is displaying tin lines across the image. those lines are not appearing in any of the Capture one Software 3.7 4.1 or 4.5 I guess ACR is not reading the Digital Back Calibration Data. I am managing thousands of Images in Lightroom and I don't want to move back to Capture one as it is very limited in terms of its meta data management and no spot removal yet.
if I convert the Raw file (IIQ Small or Large) to DNG using Capture one then Lightroom reading the DNG file without the Lines but the file size is 44MB instead of 15MB of the IIQ Small (Phase One Raw Format). obviously duplicating all my images to DNG Quadrupling disk space is not something I want to add to my workflow.
Adobe, can you improve the way you read the Phase One Raw Files?
I use Phase One P25 Digital Back with the latest firmware 3.6 , Windows XP 32 and 64bit and Lightroom 2.1 (this problem appears on all Lightroom Versions including 1.4,2.0,2.1)
I can send to adobe some Raw File Example or assist in any way I can to find a solution.
    Please Help!

Following does not alleviate the problem, but it may shed some light on the underlying reason.
Phase One are fooling their customers with the promise of 16bit depth. However, in fact that is only 14 useful bits; the two low order bits *must not* be used, for they represent mainly the pecularities of the hardware.
The following capture is from a P25+ raw image (converted in DNG by the Adobe DNG converter), but only the two low order bits are processed. These should be random on their own, as theoretically they would represent the finest transitions. The two thin vertical lines show the seams between the chips; their location depends on the particular camera copy (I have seen one or two seams, i.e. the sensor is made out of two or three chips, but perhaps there can be more).
The horizontal stripes cause posterization if an extremely underexposed image's brightness gets adjusted; the seams can become visible as thin lines.
The image is in the "native" (landscape) orientation. The orangy rectangle is not part of the image.

  • Phase One EIP Files?

Can the Adobe DNG Converter 5.3 open and convert Phase One P65+ files to DNG?
Checked the Adobe camera support screen and found every Phase One model supported except the P65+ and no mention of EIP files.
    Thanks

Not really, at this point if you want DNGs, take the original raw into Capture One 4.x and save them out as DNGs from there...then Camera Raw 5.3 can open them.

  • Phase One RAW file support needed

Full support for Phase One files would be nice.
If you plug in a CF card containing Phase One RAW files, Lightroom pretends to import them but it only imports the thumbnails. The work around is to download the CF card files to the hard drive and then ask Lightroom to import the folder. Once this folder is in Lightroom you can then ask for DNG conversion. It's a bit of a pain to say the least. I expect it's Phase Ones fault for chosing .tif as the extension for it's RAW files.
    Any better workarounds out there?
    Damien.
PS: I love Lightroom and welcome further development.

maybe i was doing something wrong, but i had no problem working with p20 and p45 raw files in lightroom. i did not import them from a cf card, though, as they were already on a hard drive.

  • Phase One .capture files

    Hello
According to the Camera Raw readme file Phase One files should be supported. But I cannot get this to work. I have a bunch of .capture files shot with a P25 - but neither Bridge, ACR 4.4.1 or Lightroom 1.4.1 knows what to do with these files.
What's wrong? Aren't the .capture files supported after all?
    (I'm on a Mac Pro, Leopard, CS3)

Peter, as Thomas said, even with the .TIF extension they are indeed raw files. Ive never had any issues with either P25 or now P25+ flies opening in CR or LR.
Perhaps a bit more info would be helpful are you seeing any previews in Bridge or just a generic file icon? Have you tried purging the cache in Bridge? Any error messages popping up?
Ive never shot tethered so I suppose there could be something happening in C1 but it would seem unlikely that it would alter the original raw file.

  • Color Cast to Phase One IQ files after opened.

I used the Lightroom beta 3.5 beta with CR 6.5 beta and now have installed the update of these two products. In beta I was able to open Phase One IQ raw files just fine but now with the 3.5 release I obtain a funny Magenta color cast that displays in the Library Mode and thumbnail but does not display in the Development Mode. This happens on both my Mac Laptop and workstation. Mac OS 10.6.8. I have not yet tried uninstalling LR and reinstalling, will do that next. The first image is in the Library mode after I have opened the file. The second is from the Development Mode. Notice how the tumbnail at the bottom remains constant but the small image on the left has changed in the Development mode to its natural look.
I should say that this color cast happens after I adjust the temperature settings of the image, not just from mearly opening it in Development.

I did this and it did not solve the problem. Still generating magenta tint.

  • How to convert FCP subtitles created in Text to EXPORT as one .stl file for broadcaster

I created about 300 subtitles in Text, one version for English and one for German, that included narration and on-screen dialog, for a one-hour film I produced. An exported QT file creates a burned-in subtitle. However, the European distributor wants the film without subtitles and wants the subtitles as a .stl file (with the TimeCode for start and end of each subtitle text), one for English and one for German. I can create a QT file without subtitles. But I could not find a way to convert the FCP text into a file.
    a. In FCP, I see no option to export to create an .stl file. How does one go about making the .stl file?
    b. Some software I found like Subtitle Extractor creates an .stl file from an existing track in DVDSP's subtitle tracks, like S1 or S2, etc. I also see no such option in DVDSP to export to create an .stl file. Does this mean I would need to re-write all the subtitles in FCP into DVDSP? This means re-writing over 600 subtitles from FCP to DVDSP! This will take months. Any faster and effective solution? DVDSP is a solution only if this Subtitle Extractor software works! Any feedback on this? I tried to run a quick test in DVDSP but no .stl file was created and it resulted in an error.
    c. I need to identify which subtitles are narration, and indentify the person speaking the dialog for the .stl file. Do I do this on the stl file or FCP (assuming there is a way to convert the FCP work)?
Using FCP 7.0.3, Mac OSX 10.6.8, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Mhz, 500 GB drive

I've worked with title exchange pro and I thought it was great.  The software author was very helpful when I had a probllem.    I used it in a different way (converting a pre existing stl file into a subtitle track in fcp - a series of text clips with the appropriate timings and placement that I could copy into a sequence - to proof subtitles created by a service before using for a digital cinema print), but I'm pretty sure it'll do what you want.

  • Phase One P45+ files won't work in 1.1

Does anyone know why my P45+ files aren't supported in Lightroom 1.1? When will they be supported? Many thanks! Eleanor

Oh my gosh Jeff, a couple of months without Lightroom processing with my plus files is like an eternity--really! Is there any workaround in the works, such as an update to the DNG converter that will make these plus files readable by Lightroom 1.1? Thanks again! Eleanor

  • How to export comps as audio files that start at beginning of song?

    Hi all
I'm a failry casual Logic user, looking for some insights from you experts out there!
Right now I'm helping out on an album project which involves me laying down various parts in a different location to the main project.  Basically I'm getting rough mixes of the songs which I'm importing into my own Logic 8 project as single stereo files.  Then I'm recording my various bits so that I can later send back individual wavs of each track I've recorded.
I've recorded various takes and made a few comps that I want to use for my file export.  However, I haven't always started recording at the very beginning of the song, hence my audio regions don't start at the same point.  I want to give the producer files that can be pulled into the main project with the exact same starting point.
I've tried poking around in the menus and the user guide to figure out how to do this, but without much success.  I've tried "flatten and merge" on my comps, and have then tried drawing some "blank" regions to fill in the space back to the song starting point.  I thought I could then glue them together and export as one audio file, but it's not working.
Before I get myself too tied up in knots, can anyone recommend a "right" way to do this?
    Thanks a lot!

Thanks!  I'll try that third option and see if it works for us.
I'd still like to solve this via option 1 anyway, as it could be useful in other applications (ie when collaborating with systems that don't support the timestamp feature).
The problem is that if I use the pencil tool to draw an empty region, it won't let me glue it to the existing recorded region.  I get the error "Folders and Regions or Aliases cannot be merged."
Also, if I double-click the new region it opens in the piano roll rather than the sample editor, which seems bizarre.  Surely you can't combine MIDI and audio regions on the same track??  This could be a clue as to why it won't let me glue these regions together though.
Note that in the file I'm currently trying this with, I've flattened and merged my takes, having chosen the one I want to keep.  So, I no longer have the take folders visible (and actually, I don't know how I'd get them back if I wanted to, but I guess that's a different question entirely).  My point being that Folders aren't in use here, despite what the error message says.

  • Lightroom with Phase One files?

I was wondering if anyone is using LR with Phase One files?
I use a P45 Phase One back and really would prefer to use Lightroom (over Capture One), but I also need to use the lens correction files for the way I shoot (wide angle lenses / technical cameras etc.)..... I know LR can now do this, but it only works with dng files; everything I've read tells me that the C1 conversion to dng is not a good conversion.
Does anyone have a good workflow for this? I suppose I could always just make a few basic corrections in C1 and then export a 16 bit Tiff to worrk on in LR, but I'd rather work with raw files as much as possible?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Alan.

Yes, I agree, it is fairly simple (now that I've investigated further).
LR does a very neat job of this...... you can export the Capture One file (TIF) as a dng and set LR to automaticaly add the new dng to the same folder (and have it stacked), then you can add the flat field correction and that comes in stacked also, so now all three files are together.
One thing that seems a bit odd is that the Capture One TIF file (IIQL) is 55.9 Mb from my P45, but the Lightroom dng is 64.9Mb? Why is the dng larger?
    Thanks,
    Alan.

Adobe web chat come up with a solution.
    Open the PP project.
Export your sequence or project as a Final Cut Pro XML file.
Set up a new PP project.
Import the Final Cut Pro XML file.
This will get you back up an running.
Since getting back to editing this project I have found that some things will be lost or change in using XML:
You will lose position key framing, black video clips, dissolve fx, audio levels, audio dynamic fx, the ability to open a multi camera clip and change the camera view.
You will keep cut points, crop fx.
Not perfect but only took a couple of hours to save 3 days work.

  • Export multiple tables into one flat file

I have data in multiple tables on a processing database that I need to move up to a production database. I want to export the data into a flat file, ftp it to the production server and have another job pick up the file and process it. I am looking for
design suggestions on how to get multiple tables into one flat file using SSIS?
    Thank You.

    Hey,
Without a bit more detail, as per Russels response, its difficult to give an exact recommendation.
Essentially, you would first add a data flow task to your control flow.  Create a source per table, then direct the output of each into an union all task.  The output from the union all task would then be directed to a flat file destination.
Within the union all task you can map the various input columns into the appropriate outputs.
If the sources are different, it would probably be easiest to add a derived column task in-between the source and the union all, adding columns as appropriate and setting a default value that can be easily identified later (again depending on your requirements).
    Hope that helps,
    Jamie

What Raw camera files are supported by Aperture Ver 3.6.  I have tried to file a list of compatible camera models, but as yet can't find one.  My OS is OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.  I have recently bought a Canon 7D MkII and have found Adobe Lightroom does not as yet support the 7D MkII.  So I though Aperture may support the 7D MkII because Yosemite 10.10.1 now does.

    Hi Folk,
I just found the answer to my question.  Yes it is supported with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.  See the link below and the ***** Note at the bottom of the list.

  • Exporting Issue: One large frame sized project, needs to be split and exported in 3 separate files

Hello Awesome people, help me out here Please!
I have a 4480(W) 1260 (H) frame sized project which needs to be exported in 3 separate files, due to the large screen size at the venue.
how to split one project into 3 so that I can get 2 x 1920 (W) and 1 x 640 (W), and height for all three would be 1260 (H)??

    Dear Evans,
You might need to check the print preferences settings on the system. This is available from Administration -> System Initialization -> Print Preferences.
Check this out for the documents that get printed as images and get stored in the Bitmaps folder. Check under the 'general' tab whether the check box for printing documents as images is ticked. If yes, untick this. Then check the settings under the 'Per Document' tab - you will need to change the settings per each document.
    I hope this helps.
