Exporting photos edited in Lightroom

Hi,
I have made substantial editing to a photo in Lightroom. However, I do not know how to export the photo with all the edits. I know Lightroom saves the changes in sidecar files, however I do not know how to take a photo edited in Lightroom and export it (with editing) to another location.
Cheers,
reuelb

Errrrr... File/Export (ctrl-shift-E) does that, doesn't it?

  • Laptop monitor choice for photo editing with lightroom and photoshop

    Hi,
i'm going to buy a laptop, mostly for photo editing with lightroom and photoshop use.
I'm in trouble with the display choice.
One laptop has LG LP156WF4 or AUO B156HAN01 display, that should be very similar matte ips display with 55%-60% coverage of AdobeRGB. You can find a review in the "Display" section of these link : http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Clevo-W650SJ-Schenker-M504-Barebones-Notebook.114329.0 .html
The other laptop hasAU Optronics B156HW01 V.4 Matte 95%, that is a TN matte display with  95% coverage of AdobeRGB. You can find a review in these link (the display should be the green bar): http://www.anandtech.com/show/4649/mythlogic-pollux-1400-clevos-w150hr-tested/6
My question is: which one is better for photo editing with photoshop and lightroom?
Someone says that ips is better because of the fidelity of color reproduction, view angles and contrast.
Someone, on the other side, says that the TN 95% is better because of the gamut%.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Marco Grechi

Macbook pro is out of budget
Hp assistance said that in italy they don't sell laptop with dreamcolor (i'll call again tomorrow to be sure ) but i think that it would be out of budget (max 2000 euro).
They said that the best solution for me is the zbook 15 g2 (2300 euro), but they DON'T know brand and model of the display and if i can have SSD + HD inside the zbook 15 g2.
The laptop with the lg panel costs 1500 euro. the question is; "i know that the lg display is not the best, but is it almost sufficient for my use?". In this way i may save 500/800 to buy a separated display later.
I have read that dell xps 15 and dell precision m3800 have great display, but they are glossy and very reflective. Is it a big handicap?
    Do you know the 3k 15,6" display Panasonic VVX16T020G00 ? It should be a 8-bit display with 72%NTSC gamut ( http://www.panelook.com/VVX16T020G00_Panasonic_15.5_LCM_parameter_22014.html )
Do you sugget me a 3k display for photo editing?

  • IPhoto 11 - Saving/Exporting Photos Edited in iPhoto 11

I just updated to iPhoto 11 from what I think was iPhoto 09. In my previous version of iPhoto, I would import photos from my camera, edit (crop, straighten, adjust, etc) and then I would FILE/Export photo in .jpg format to my hard drive for backup and upload to flickr.
When I follow this same procedure in in iPhoto 11, the edits that I make in iPhoto do not save to the exported photo. The application just exports the original file w/o edits.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a fix?
    Thank you,
    Charles

I am exporting as a JPG. I think I figured out the problem. In the old iPhoto I could export from the Edit menu. On this new version, I have click on the Photos button and go back to the screen that shows the whole event and export from there.
It's a pain and much less efficient but it seems to be working.

  • Why do my saved / exported photos out of Lightroom have a little red dot on them?

My edited photos in Lightroom look great.  But once I export them and take a look with another program (Photo Mechanic or Previewer), I see a little red dot on the photos.
I have the latest version of Lightroom downloaded (5.7) and have tried restarting the program and re-exporting the photos but no dice.
After further investigation via Google, I think this red dot is a "hot pixel" as it is showing up in every photo in the same spot.  Apparently this is caused by my camera sensor but I'm confused by this as my RAW files do not show the red dot, only when the photos have been converted to JPGs can you see it.  Stumped.

Please show us a screen capture.

  • I have imported and processed photo's in Lightroom 2 and kept stored files on external hard drive.  External hard drive crashed....how do I export photo's from Lightroom when it says 'file not found'?

Folders with photo files are lost due to external hard drive crashing.  Processed photo's are still in LR.  How can I export from LR to a file (any file) that no longer exists?  Help!!!

Well, no backups, the technical term for that is "a problem". I think from this point forward, you need to commit yourself to making regular automated backups of all of your photos and catalog file to different physical disks, no excuses.
Your photos are not stored in Lightroom. However, Lightroom does create "previews", this is what you are seeing, but these are usually smaller and low-quality compared to the originals. There are plug-ins that can extract the previews from Lightroom. One such plug-in is here robcole.com - PreviewExporter

  • Photo editing capabilities: Lightroom vs Photoshop/Photoshop Elements

    Hi,
I have a question about the features in lightroom. I'm not yet a photoshop user so I hope people can understand if I don't use the right terms. It seems from the web site that lightroom is a photo editor and a image file organizer. If I don't need a image file organizer is there any reason to buy lightroom instead of photoshop or photoshop elements. Does lightroom have image editing features that are not in photoshop elements or not in the full version of photoshop?
    Thanks

Thanks again.  I think the biggest concern that I have at this point is how this catalog transfer process will deal with my PSE images that I have stored offline on DVDs.  Let me explain...
To save disk space, my process is to import RAW files into PSE Organizer, tag them, rate them, then move the images to a DVD.  This allows me to see the image as a large thumbnail in the Organizer, complete with all the tags, but keeps the huge files off my hard drive and puts them on inexpensive, reliable media.  Then, if I ever need to access the full image, I simply put in the DVD and the full image is instantly available, where it can be moved back to the harddrive if needed for edits or printing.  I probably have 30 or so DVDs of images and the PSE organizer tracks all of them flawlessly.  I've even moved .psd files to DVD to free up harddrive space, and the Organizer still lets me know that I have that offline .psd file available and also the name of the DVD of where it lives.  I love this approach... keeping the big image files separate from the catalog (especially images that I rarely need access to, but don't want to remove from the catalog). I'd say 80% of my Organizer catalog is comprised of these offline images and having only the thumbnails in the catalog works great for me.
From your earlier replies (#9 and #13 above), it sounds like Lr won't transfer these thumbnails when I move the PSE Catalog to Lr.  If I need to move ALL of those offline images to my harddrive before I do the "Upgrade Catalog" command, that will be a huge problem.  I simply don't have the free space available.  So Ideally, I want to transfer the thumbnails, tags, metadata, and offline file location information from my PSE Organizer catalog to the Lr Organizer, and I would like to do that without having to load DVDs.  Is this possible?  If not, I haven't been able to find any procedure outlined anywhere that addresses this specific situation... Can it be done one DVD at a time?    Thanks.

  • How to move photos edited in Lightroom 2 from external hard drive to Lightroom 5 without losing changes/metadata made in Lightroom 2?

I had images processed in Lightroom 2 on an old PC that crashed, but were backed to external hard drive. I now have a Macbook Pro with Lightroom 5. When I import the photos from the hard drive the editing/metadata I added in Lightroom 2 are not there. Is there a way to bring the photos in with the changes made in Lightroom 2 or do I have re-edit the photos? The odd thing is when I go into the folders on the Lacie back-up and open a photo (that I know I edited) into Photoshop CS5 there are no changes.

Yes, that is a backup of your LR2 catalog file. You need to find the most recent one available (obviously, that backup was made on 2013-04-09), and then copy it to a hard drive on your computer (internal or external) but not a network drive, and then open it in Lightroom 5. You should see that all of your photos have a place in the grid, but won't have a thumbnail and there may be a question mark icon on each folder.
To fix the question mark on each folder, please read: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders and then the thumbnails will appear as well

  • Why can't I export photos edited in iPhoto 08?

Hi, hoping for help. I posted elsewhere but think it was in the wrong place.
I have labouriously edited some 700+ photos with the intention of exporting them web sized to a desktop folder where I intend batch watermarking them before importing them into iWeb.
Unfortunately, every time I attempt to do this the uncropped/rotated photos get exported. I tried doing it by album, event and directly from the library to no avail.
    I'm using 10.5.8 and iPhoto 7.1.5
    Suggestions would be appreciated.

How are you exporting the photos? What settings are you using in the Export window?
Are you able to drag an edited photo via the thumbnail to the desktop and get the edited version? If not try rebuilding the library as follows:
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options. If you have enough room on your boot drive make a backup copy of the library before rebuilding just in case.
    Then try exporting again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Exporting photos and metadat from iPhoto '09 to Lightroom 3

After several years managing 110K+ photos and movies in iPhoto, I am reluctantly considering moving to Adobe Lightroom. I paid $200 for Aperture, but the most recent releases of both Aperture and iPhoto are so buggy that I'm not upgrading. I was very sad to reach this conclusion.
I am seriously considering moving to Adobe Lightroom for its power, stability, and availability on much cheaper PC hardware. Does anyone know of a way to export everything I've done in iPhoto (including hundreds of hours of tagging and photo editing) to Lightroom? I've spent a couple of hours reading forums and haven't seen anything (instructions or app) that will do the job.
I really wish Apple had nailed Aperture since I'm now needing it's photo editing power together with iPhoto's excellent organization capabilities. This was the promise of Aperture 3. Now I just feel dumb for spending the $200 (since the app is both buggy and available for $80 in the app store).
I would deeply appreciate any advice on the transition to Lightroom 3 from iPhoto '09... and I will always be an Apple fan.

    Terence,
You rock for posting such a quick reply so late at night. Thank you!
I forgot about those checkboxes. Excellent point. Thanks for the description heads up. I'm fine losing the faces info (esp. since LR3 doesn't offer it as you said). It's the keywords and titles that I've spent 100's of hours on
Have you tried importing to LR with exported metadata? Did it work end to end for you? I'll check out iPhoto to Disk in depth.
I would like to keep my originals and the modified versions. Do you know of any way to avoid doubling the item count in my library to nearly a quarter of a million? I am hoping to avoid having an original and modified version of each file. I actually suffered that once through an iPhoto issue a couple of years ago and hope not to repeat.
To add more context to my Aperture and iPhoto '11 comments, the iPhoto '11 comments are purely a reflection of what I've read in hours of forum reading and not my direct experience. On Aperture, my experiences are actually limited -- focusing solely on importing a huge iPhoto library to Aperture. I spent tens of hours over several weeks trying to migrate and simply failed. The memory leaks got me time and again, no matter how I reconfigured the import (for example by splitting 110K photos into approx 50 individual imports). I should've called out that once (partially) imported, everything seemed to be faster and smoother in Aperture than in iPhoto. Thanks for the call out.

  • Issues with exporting photos to be edited in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 5.6 using Yosemite OS.

Suddenly, I'm unable to edit my photos from Lightroom 5.6 in Photoshop CS6.  I have recently converted from Mavericks to Yosemite OS.  But, I haven't had any issues for the past week or two.   Now, whenever I try to Edit photos from Lightroom 5.6 in Photoshop CS6, either nothing happens.  Or from the drop down menu, the option to Edit in Photoshop CS6 is greyed out.  Both Lightroom and Photoshop are the latest versions.  I've even uninstalled, and reinstalled Photoshop CS6 without any improvement.  Help!!!

Sorry, I was wrong about the check box, that only works if you are importing images from a memory card.  If they are already in the catalogue, they will be greyed out in either case.
"I'm pretty confident therefore that it is not in the catalog but it appears that Lightroom for some reason thinks it is."  Well I can't read Lightroom's mind, but I think that Lightroom thinking it is in the catalog is the same thing as it being in the catalog.
When you still have the edited file open in Photoshop CS6, after you have edited and saved it as "IMG_4312-edit.tif," what happens if you try "save as," does it bring you to the correct folder to save it in?  If you try to save as without changing the name does it ask if you want to overwrite the original?  Can you now save it with a new name (e.g. "IMG_4312-Edit2.tif") and have it show up?
You type above, "IMG_4312.CRW, I do some edits in Lightroom but I want to do some more in Photoshop so I send it to the PS CS6 from within Lightroom. The image opens, I make my edits and I click Save. This creates  a new file called IMG_431-Edit.tif."  4312 vs. 431 just make sure you aren't making the same small mistake when searching for the file.

  • I have a sudden export to plug-in problem as well as a Photo-Edit-in-Photoshop Error

I just changed Macs and migrated all of my old data to the new iMac (running OS X 10.9.2). Applications and files. I keep all my photo files on external Iomega drives, however. I plugged those back in and Lightroom 5.2 recognizes them. I can work with them, edit, etc within Lightroom. No problems.
But I can't seem to export them to some of the plug-ins now or Photo-Edit in-Photoshop. For example, I tried to export out via (File-Plug-in Extras-Perfect Effects 8) and get this message: "AgNegative:renderToFile: <AgErrorID>dng_error_write_file</AgErrorID>"
Another example: Trying to edit the photo via (Photo-Edit in-Adobe Photoshop Elements) gives me this message: "Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at /Volumes/Photos-Videos /Pictures/2000/2000 Dean Scan 6.jpeg for editing. It will not be opened."
I've tried exporting Raw and jpgs and tiffs and get the same errors. It will, oddly enough, allow me to export to Photomatix Pro.
    Any ideas? I'm stumped.
    Thanks!

That would be great as tested further with a few files as not only have external drive backup I also use Backblaze remote service and just requested a few test files to be returned for uploading, which both worked fine.
It's seems to be the hard drive it's not recognising PS and LR CC
Will keep in touch if have any further thoughts

  • Do I need to export photos from Lightroom 4 before placing in InDesign CS6?

I'm doing a print photo book layout in InDesign using photos that I am processing in Lightroom 4 & Photoshop CS6. My question is, do I need to "File > Export" the files from Lightroom before placing them into InDesign? Or are the Lightroom final changes I make embedded in the .tif file?

Unless I'm mistaken, even tiffs and jpegs need to be exported if you want changes made in Lightroom to show up in InDesign.
If said rendered image also had Develop edits yes, they would need to be re-rendered. A rendered asset in LR, no.

IIs there an export function from Lightroom? Did you export? Does the exported file contain your edit?
THe hard drive file size doesn't matter. What matters is the image size, it's dimensions in pixels.
IN FCP press Cmd-J to see the project properties.

  • I am having trouble exporting photos with a watermark in lightroom 5 with windows 8

I click export, then edit watermarks, make my adjustments, click create, then export...photo gets exported without the watermark....what am I doing wrong?

Just a couple of observations that may not be of any help to you. After you click on the export button, you won't see any activity on the Lightroom interface unless you are exploring several images in which case you will see a progress bar in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. I noticed on your export settings that you have checked the option to add the exported image to the catalog, so it isn't going to automatically show up in Lightroom. You might try right clicking on the folder you are working with and choose to synchronize it and see if that will bring in those newly exported images.
