Exporting photos from ipod to desktop mac....help.

I had one mac crash and the some of the photos from that computer are on an old ipod (4th gen - I think) and I need to put the photos on our other mac.  Keep getting error messages that other mac does not recognize photo format?

There are various programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
CopyPodPhoto Windows only
Tansee iPod Transfer Photo Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
TouchCopy Mac and Windows Versions (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod

  • How to export photos from Elements Organizer on Mac?

I saw someone asked the same question and it seemed not to be possible with the Mac version. Surely this can't be possible as this must be one of the single most important functions in an Archving system.

The problem is I can't move them to a new folder. If I could I wouldn't have the export problem. I just dragging and dropping but it doesn't work. I have made a selection (15) of photos in Elements Organizer but I can't identify which ones they are (from 300) in the Mac Finder app (= Windows Explorer).
Sorry, I can't test that on a Mac, but I thought that 'Windows only' features would be stated on the Adobe pdf help file, and moving file is not mentionned as Windows only, whereas 'export' is clearly stated as Windows only.

By the way, the very useful faq list in the right panel of this forum links to PSE9, not PSE10 for the location of the guides.

  • Can't copy photos from iPod touch to Mac

My iPhoto Library was on an external hard drive, which unfortunately my friend accidentally dropped, and it no longer works. Luckily, I have the photos synced to my iPod touch. Unfortunately, I can't get a way to import the photos onto my Mac., I've tried iPhoto, Preview, iPhone Explorer and Pod to Mac (which works, but I need to pay to copy them), but none of them are useful solutions.
Does anyone know of a free application that doesn't require me to jailbreak or buy it that I can use to get my photos from my iPod touch onto my Mac (it can be Windows as well as I have a Windows computer)?

Try this: iPhone / iPod Touch Backup Extractor
See if you can find the folder containing your photos if you extract the backup to a separate folder. The photos will be reduced in size, but that's better than nothing.

  • Saved Photos Sync - How to Sync the photos from iPod touch to Mac

How can one syncrhonize the "Saved Photos" on an iPod touch (or iPhone, for that matter) to Mac OS X?
Certainly using iTunes the specified photos on Mac OS X are saved to the iPod touch, but I don't see how to get the "photos" (snapshots of the iPod touch screen) to be copied/sync'd to Mac OS X, e.g. so that I can use these "photos" in a blog post, etc.

on a PC you would go to My Computer and the iPod would show up as an external disk for you to copy the photos from.
on a Mac i'm not sure of the exact procedure but i'd imagine it's something similar.

  • Transferring photos from ipod nano to mac mini

I cannot transfer my photos from my ipod nano to my mac mini. I have connected my ipod to the mini and opened up iphoto but I don't have the option to import my photos.

An iPod nano is not a camera, so you can't do that with iPhoto.
There is a setting that relates to your question.  Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Photos tab.  There is a checkbox there, that says Include full-resolution photos.  If that setting was checked WHEN you synced the photos to your iPod, then the iPod will have a copy of photo files at full-resolution.  To retrieve them, Enable disk use on the iPod's Summary tab.  Open the iPod's storage as a "disk," and look for the image files in Photos folder.
If that setting was NOT already checked, then the iPod only has a low-resolution database of "thumbnails" instead of the photos; they are optimized to fit the very small screen on the nano (and save storage space).  They are not in a format that can be used directly on a computer.  There may be third-party utilities that can retrieve the images as individual files, but they would look terrible blown up to computer screen size.  The way they are converted and stored on the iPod, each image is only meant to look decent on the iPod's tiny screen.

  • How do i export photos from ipod to computer

I can't get my photos from my ipod. I think I have tried everything but still can not figure out how to get them on to my computer. Please if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

If you had Copy full resolution photos to iPod checked, they are in the Photos folder on theiPod.
If you did not have that box checked, then you only have thumbnail photos on the iPod.
You can go to www.versiontracker.com to find software to take these low resolution photos off the iPod.

  • Transferring photos from iPod touch to Mac Pro

I used my iPod touch as a hard-drive while on holidays (transferred pictures from my camera to the iPod). When I got back home, I wanted to transfer the pictures to my desktop but my iPod does not show up on the desktop (this option is selected through the finder). The iPod will show up in iTunes and iPhoto, though it was a third party device I used (zoomit) to transfer the pictures as they were on SD cards.
If I could see my iPod on my desktop, I could transfer them manually but I'm at a lost as to how to get it to show up.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

If you were transferring your pictures directly to your touch, that's a new one to me. Normally when you plug your camera or SD card into your Mac, iPhoto opens and you copy your photos there. Photos are transferred via syncing with iTunes to your touch. If that is what you did, then your photos are in iPhoto waiting for you.
As others have said, your touch is not treated as a disk drive like the iPod classic is. The touch is not going to show up on your desktop, it is only going to be seen by iTunes. If you have an iPod classic, there are several ways to transfer your camera contents to the classic.

  • Exporting photos from ipod to pc

On holiday we used our ipod as a harddrive for our digital camera. Our ipod 5th generation was recently purchased without an instruction manual. Can anyone help us figure out how to export the photos on to our pc??? Thanks

If you enabled your iPod as a storage drive to put the photos on then you just need to connect it to your computer and access it through Windows Explorer or My Computer and you can drag the photo files onto your hard drive:Using your iPod as a storage drive

  • How do you get photos from ipod to desktop?

i had a photo and it got deleted off my hard drive, but i have it on my ipod.
i'm afraid to hook my ipod up to the computer cause it might update the ipod and delete the photo
how can i get the photo off the ipod?

If the photos are not in the Photos folder (enable disk use first) on the iPod, you do no have the full resolution pix on the iPod.
You only have photos optimized for the television (about 640x480).
Here is one app from www.versiontracker.com

  • When I export photos from Aperture, the pixel dimensions are halved thus losing data.  I have set the export preferences to export at original size, to no avail.  This happens even if I just drag to the desktop and then back, or if I export into my iphoto

When I export photos from Aperture to desktop or iphoto I lose pixels.  The pixel dimensions are halved, despite setting the export preference to export at original size.  Anyone know why or how to correct this?

Dragging an Image from Aperture exports the Preview.  Preview parameters are set on the Previews tab of Aperture preferences.
Are you seeing the same results when you export using one of the export commands?
Is so, confirm that the settings in the selected Image Export Preset ("Aperture➞Presets➞Image Export") truly represent those in the Image Export Preset's name.

  • I have a Mac Book Pro (13" )laptop and cannot export photos from I Photo to my desktop or to a flash drive.

I am trying to export photos from Iphoto to a folder on my desktop and seem to be unable to do this as a big X appears on the bottom of the photo and it says it can not export photo.  Any ideas how to solve this problem so that I can download photos from I photo to my desktop?

    Barbara ..
You can export photos  via email, a MobileMe Gallery, Flickr, Facebook, Photo Stream, iWeb, or to a burn folder but not to a folder on your Desktop or a flash drive.
Workaround is to connect the flash drive then drag the photos from your iPhoto library to the flash drive icon on the Desktop.
