Exporting Photoshop LUTs for use in Speedgrade

Hi
I'm not sure if this is a silly question, but here goes!
Firstly, I'm using Windows 7.
I have created an adjustment layer in Photoshop CC 2014 and exported to 3DL, CSP, CUBE files and ICC profile.
How do I pick up and use these in Speedgrade CC 2014?
Thanks!
Dave

well I tried. I created the Photoshop adjustment layer, exported as Color Lookup Tables using all 4 formats of 3DL, CUBE, CSP and ICC Profile
then in Speedgrade, did the +, FILM, LUT and immediately it adds the LUT to my layer list
I do not see the .... button next to the pulldown list - I don't think I get a pulldown list  ??
RoninEdits wrote:
in speedgrade, the bottom left layers area, click the + button and from the menu choose Film>Lut. you can then click the ....   button next to the lookup table pulldown list to choose your custom lut.
EDIT - got it, sorry. Had to collapse LOOK Management to see Lookup Table and the ... button!
my 3DL seems fine
my CSP is red and white checker board
my CUBE is fine
and my ICC is darker then original ,,,, I see what you mean Dave about the very high contrast/saturation

Attached is Dennis Linam’s Audition – “Log File” and “Log – Last File”
    Contact information Dennis [email protected]
Previous contact information with your organization (DURIM):
Dennis - i just finished my audition trial and bought the subscription the 2014 version.
created by durin in Audition CS5.5, CS6 & CC - View the full discussion
DURIM - Okay.  I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]?  We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro?  If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I appreciate any help you can give me to get this audition program started

  • Exporting from FCP for use with PC

    Hey all,
Trying to deliver a high-med quality 8 minute video from FCP for use with a PC. I've tried exporting both a .mov and .avi using DVCPro50, but neither are readable through the PC. Best I can get is sometimes audio will show up. Does anyone have a good solution for exporting from FCP for use with a PC?
    Thanks again for your help!

I don't think DVCpro50 codec is available on a PC. I think panasonic has a special license with apple only, so you need to try a different codec for the avi.

  • Structure inDesign document and export as XML for use in the web

    Hello everyone,
I just recently started using inDesign and I am fascinated by its possibilities! I use it for a project where a finished inDesign layout that is used for a printed publication is now supposed to be transformed for implementing it on a web site. My job is to export the inDesign document as an XML file. After massive reading the last weeks I'm quite familiar with the structuring and tagging in inDesign. Though there's some issues I do not understand. Your precious advice would be of highest meaning to me
The programmer who will later use my XML output for the web-transformation needs the document structured in different levels like "Root > Chapter > Subchapter > Text passage / table". I already structured the document with tags like title, text passage, table, infobox,... but the structure is just linear, putting one item following to another.
How can I structure the document with reoccuring tags that enable me to identify the exact position of an item in the document's structure? So that I can say for example "text passage X" is located in chapter 4, subchapter 1. This has to be done because the document is supposed to be updated later on. So maybe a chapter gets modified and has to be replaced, but this replacement is supposed to be displayed.
I hope my problem becomes clear! That's my biggest issue for now. So for any help I'd be very thankful!

Our print publications are created in InDesign CS5 for Mac then the text is exported to RTF files then sent to an outside company to be converted to our XML specifications for use by our website developers.  I would like to create a workflow in which our XML tags are included in the InDesign layouts and then export the XML from the layouts.
Some more detail about what kind of formatting is necessary might be helpful.
I know that IDML files contain the entire layout in XML format.  Is it a good idea to extract what we need from IDML, using the already-assigned tags?
Well, if you want to export the whole document, it's the only reasonable approach.
We use a workflow system such that each story is a seperate InCopy document, stored in ICML format (Basically a subset of IDML). Our web automation uses XSLT to convert each story into HTML for use on our web site; it also matches it up with external metadata so it knows what is a headline and what is not, etc.. It is not exactly hassle free, and every once in a while someone uses a new InDesign feature that breaks things (e.g., our XSLT has no support for paragraph numbering, so numbered paragraphs show up without their numbers).
You could do the same thing with with IDML, you'd just have to pick out each story, but that's small potatoes compared to all the XSL work you're going to have to do.
On the other hand, there may be better approaches if you're not going to export the whole document. For instance,  you could use scripting to export each story as an RTF file, and then you could convert the RTF files into HTML using other tools.

  • Problem exporting FXG file for use in Flash

I have a simple rectangle with a 3D-bevel effect built in Illustrator that I need to export as an FXG file for use in Flash.
When I export from Illustrator to an FXG format, it creates bitmaps and embeds those in the FXG file.
if  i import directly into Flash CS5 there are transparent gaps (and the  symbols created are very complex), and it warns me that the objects  aren't compatible with flash and they should be converted to bitmaps  first.
Is there a way to export the object to an FXG file and keep it in a vector format?
if  not, and this may be an Illustrator question, is there a way to create  the same kind of effect so that I can get an end FXG object that will  work in Flash?
An example of what I am seeing is posted here: http://idg-partners.com/flash_issue.html
    Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to export the object to an FXG file and keep it in a vector format?
Create the bevel edges as separate objects with gradient fills. not sure why you need AI, though. You can do that jsut the same directly in Flash...

  • SQL DEVELOPER 1.5.3: Export Data options for using SQL to write SQL?

I write a lot of SQL that generates SQL. In a competitor's product, I can export query results (Export > Save As > Tab Delimited) to the clipboard, paste the generated SQL into a new window, then execute the generated SQL.
In SQL Developer, using Export Data > Text to the clipboard, it's delimiting each row with double-quotes. Is there any way to turn this behavior off to achieve what I want? Or should I be choosing a different export format?
For now, I can do a search/replace to eliminate the double-quotes,
    Thanks.
    Dana

    Dana,
I probably haven't done this with generating thousands of SQL lines, but I have certainly used the Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C (or Ctrl-Shift-C to get headers) to copy thousands of records of result data. Note that the Ctrl-A forces a fetch of all remaining records that have not yet been fetched, which may add to the time taken by the process - for example, running the query fetches the first 50 records and then Ctrl-A will fetch the remaining records as well as selecting them all, however long that takes. Also, there is a noticeable delay with the Ctrl-C for thousands of records - only rough counting but I was seeing a UI freeze for ~ 4 seconds when copying 10000 records from a query with around 30 columns in it (pasting the clipboard into a file produced a file just under 4MB).

  • Export dialog only for use with teleprompter?

I tried the official Story Plus teleprompter and didn't care for it (plus it has the same problem I'm having now).
HOW do you export dialog only from Story Plus for use with a teleprompter?
I've exported a TXT document and it included everything.  Additionally, it kept the formatting, so I have to go into a text editor and remove all the spaces.  Otherwise my dialog is a mess in the prompter.
Any thoughts on how to get this working?
    Thanks,
    Paul

If you want to export just the dialogs from the story, you can try out Breakdown Reports (Authoring view : Production - > Breakdown Reports). You can try "Character..." or "Custom Report..." to see if it serves your purpose. It will generate csv file for you.
    Thanks

  • Exporting 3D Objects for use in Photoshop

As Photoshop CS3 has the ability to handle 3D layers and Illustrator CS3 has the ability the create 3D objects i do not see any reason why there is no possibility in Illustrator to Export the 3D objects that then can be used in Photoshop. It would be a very appreciated feature.

    > I happen to know for sure that the plug-in does create a 3D model...
How do you know this? While I Don't know for sure that it doesn't I strongly doubt that it would. The object created using the effect is merely a 2D object extruded to add the illusion of depth. A true 3D model contains far more information, such as features on all sides. Since Illustrator is only a 2D drawing program, there's no need for it to support 3D modeling, so no need for the programmers to spend time storing 3D data in the database of object data.
So, if you "know for sure" that the plug-in created a 3D model, how do you know this? Can you link to some proof?

  • Change colour profile on export of jpeg for using files on windows pc

My father, who is 80, has a mac and aperture.
He is reasonable proficient using it, but as a windows user myself I'm unsure of the in's and out's of things and it always falls on me to help him when he has a problem.
He also has a windows computer, which he has a programme on for making calenders.
The problem we have is that when he saves his photo's after editing in aperture to a dvd, he puts this dvd into his windows pc and he cannot see any of the previews.
On opening up any picture in photoshop on the pc, it asks if he wants to use the embedded colour profile or change it.
I'm wondering if Aperture is exporting using a certain profile which windows cannot read? Thus doesn't show the preview.
He needs the preview to pick which pictures he wants to use on the calender.
He then stores all his pictures on the dvd.
I'm pretty sure he shoots as jpegs, not raw. Though I need to ask him.
He has several different cameras, and I think he has trouble with all of them. I'm pretty sure one is a nikon d5300 (I just googled red body nikon)
Is there a colour profile for aperture when saving as a jpeg that is compatible with windows?
It's a hundred mile round trip to visit and to then sit down and try to work it out by trial and error would take some time.
So if I can find an answer and call on the phone to tell him what to do, it'd save me a lot of time
I'm not sure what Mac he has, what OS he's using or which version of Aperture, he only recently bought it, so guess at the latest one.......... I know I'm a great help !!!!!
I can find out if needed, but thought there might be an easy fix....... I know, whenever is there an easy fix for anything!!!
    Cheers,
    Graham

There is no standard for a 'Preview'. It's a feature of the software that is opening a file as to how it shows those files to the user for selection. Some software will look in the file header for a thumbnail, some will use the files associated icon (if it has one) and some will just present a list of file names. I seriously doubt changing the colour profile output by Aperture will have any impact on this.
Although Aperture doesn't have a calendar feature, iPhoto does and as of the last year or so, Aperture has an option to open it's library in iPhoto. So if he has a current enough version of Aperture and iPhoto, he could avoid the issue altogether if he is happy to switch into iPhoto to make the Calendar.
If he wasn't using DVD (say a USB thumbdrive instead) he could run a utility on the PC to create icons for the files where the icon is a thumbnail of the picture, which the calendar software might then use when prompting for images to load. But the use of DVD complicates this, as it depends on the DVD drivers and file systems in use on the DVD.
Chances of resolving this remotely, remote

  • How to Export Aperture Library for Use by Windows PC

Hello and thanks in advance for your help. I have recently returned to using a Mac after years of PC use. I'm using Parallels for some apps that are PC only, an astronomy program, TheSky6, for example. One of the first things I did was purchase Aperture and move my 40GB photo library into it. "Move" is the operative word; I didn't want to use up too much disk space so my photo library now exists only in Aperture. What I didn't realize, at the time I was happily deleting my Photoshop Album library, was that Aperture creates its own universe, and the actual photo files are no longer easily accessible, buried as they are, so to speak, within Aperture folders containing proprietary tags, etc.
Is there an easy way to recreate the folders with just the jpegs, tiffs, raws photo files and nothing else? I realize of course that I could do this photo-by-photo, but it would take an awfully long time. I have tried exporting the projects, but they just export as aperture projects, so that didn't work. I also tried using Photoshop Album (on the pc side), hoping that it would just import the photo files and ignore all the aperture stuff--that didn't work either. A wonderful Apple Script program called "Aperture iPhoto Sync" did work somewhat, but it kept giving me errors before it was finished, and I couldn't keep track of what had copied and what had not.
Learning from my mistake (the story of my life!), I have realized that I would like to keep the photo files accessible to a PC as well. I keep thinking I am missing something really simple here. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

May I humbly and quietly suggest to read the manual before doing anything drastic.
It would have been better to import all your images as referenced masters. Images would have stayed in the location they were in and the Aperture library would only have contained links or references to them. This would not have used up extra hard drive space.
A good site for Aperture is the Bagelturf site.
Have a look at this article in which Bagelturf explains "relocate and consolidate" of images.
    http://homepage.mac.com/bagelturf/aparticles/ref/refrecon/refrecon.html
Considering your objectives, using referenced masters is the best option for you.

  • Exporting Photoshop Animation for Instagram

    Hello
I was wondering if it was possible to export an animation created in photoshop to Instagram. I have poked around the web but have not seen anything on the topic. Thank you for your help!

If you are using html-emails you will need to define an area where you will need to insert your flash within (similar to a webpage with a flash banner).
Animated .gif would work too. Your client can set up a template email or even add the animated gif to their signature in their email options.
Hope any of this is helpful.

  • How do I erase background from gif graphic in Photoshop 7  for use on website?

I am using Photoshop 7 and am trying to convert a jpg photo from my camera to a gif that I can use on  my website.  I erased a background on a photo with checkerboard pattern) one time (that's what I am trying to find again) and I can't find that eraser anymore.
Would appreciate any help.  I am using windows 2000 pro.

The eraser is in the Toolbox on the left but it is pretty crude for this purpose. Better to use a selection tool to isolate the area to be removed, followed by the Delete key. There are other ways but it gets more complicated.
Work on a copy to preserve the original.

  • OBPM - Problem exporting to CSV (for use in Excel) with special characters?

    Hi All,
I am wondering if anyone has found a good solution to a problem I am experiencing with OBPM's OTB export function.
Our application is required to be bilingual for English and French, however we've noticed that when the user is in French-display-mode, and exports their worklist to CSV, the french characters are garbled when viewed in Excel.
We've tracked the problem down to be that OBPM encodes the CSV file as UTF-8, and Excel default is ANSI. This mismatch causes the garble.
Has anyone out there found a way to set the encoding type, or otherwise overcome this issue? We are using OBPM version 10.3.2
    Thanks!
    Steps to recreate:
    1. Open the OBPM workspace
    2. Click "Settings" in the top right corner
    3. Select the "Display" tab, and change the language to French, click save.
    4. Notice your column names now appear in French. Export your worklist to CSV using the "Output options" icon
    5. open the resulting file in Excel, notice that any specail characters (accented e's for example) are not garbled.

    Hi Sharma,
We seem to be the only two people on the forum using multiple languages!
I have contacted Oracle support about the issue and am awaiting their reply as we speak.. We have a workaround that we can use, but our users are not fans of it, and would like to see a better solution.
Our workaround is simply to open the CSV file in notepad++ and re-save the file with ANSI encoding.
You mentioned Oracle support had provided you with 3 fixes, were these code-fixes or workarounds? I am wondering if perhaps one of those would work for us..

  • Exporting HD video for use on AppleTV and iPod

I use a Canon HV30 HD camcorder. Work in FCE. Also have QTPro. I typically export from FCE as a pure .MOV file, then do my conversions to other formats in QTPro.
To get good quality on my Apple TV, I use QTPro to export to Apple TV. But then that video won't transfer to my iPod Touch, so I have to do another export with QTPro with iPod as my target.
Is there a happy medium that will show good results on the AppleTV and iPod? Obviously this can be done with standard def video because iTunes videos look fine on both. I think the HD is what's getting me.
    Thanks.

I would also like to have this question answered...
    Additionally,
Is there a way to combine the SD and HD files similar to when you download a movie from itunes how there is one file entry in iTunes for both the SD and HD version. Also I noticed movies and TV you download from iTunes can transfer to your Ipod (even though they are over the ipod specs 320x240). Is there a way to export videos larger than 320x240 and can transfer to the Ipod.
    Thank you in advance...

  • Exporting play lists for use in other media software?

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export.
However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.
