Exporting png files

I am trying to maintain a website that was designed by
someone else. I want to change the drop down menus on the home
page. I know how to edit the pop-up menu. The pop-up menu is one
aspect of a png file. So then I save the file, export it, but when
I go to upload it in Dreamweaver, it seems to upload as normal, but
the changes that I made do not appear when I view the page on the
web.
What am I doing wrong? It must have something to do with the
exporting process or maybe I'm not uploading all the files that I
need to.
Thanks.

Rant away, but its only Fireworks users who read these posts,
but if it
helps get it off your chest carry on :)
By the way, I was under the impression that you get 90 days
free support
from the day of purchase.
And I totally feel your frustration about the seamless
integration being
rubbish, its over marketed and they should drop it.
The UI is nothing like Photoshop, which is why I prefer
Fireworks. I
could always get on with Macromedia products, but never
Adobe, so I was
worried when Adobe bought Macromedia, in fear that the UI
would be
ruined. Its the next version of Fireworks and other
Macromedia products
that will see the big changes in UI, unless they are really
kind to us
loyal Macromedia users and leave it alone.

  • Exported PNG files getting extra characters in name and linked files losing link

    UGH!.. Hope that made sense.
Okay...I work on a couple hundred graphics for software at a time, usually creating each piece in a layer with the correct naming convention as the layer name.  Then I use the "Save Layers and PNG. Artboard" script for batch export them into the ONG files...all named properly.  This was a Blessing from heaven.
However, about three months ago, Illustrator starting adding a "dash" mark in place of a space between words.  I can't link this to an update or other change, wish I could.  This is causing a huge problem..as the software these graphics are for REQUIRES the names be perfect...including the spaces (Can't be underscores, nada).  I'm having to go through an manually rename over half the files just to remove this dash mark.
There is nothing in the original script for this.
I have gone through all the settings.  I have adjusted the Output Settings / Saving Files to eliminate every instance AI is asked to add anything but a space.   Although I'm not sure if these Output settings are used when the script runs.  Don't know if it's the script, some other setting buried somewhere.
Any other thoughts or solutions?  Are there other scripts that do the same job that I might try to see if I get better results?  I attached a link to a download of my current script
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23703370/SaveLayersAsPNGArtboard.jsx
Second issue isn't script based, but I'll ask anyway.  Regularly, when I open an AI file that has PNGs, JPG, and other graphics in the file, the "links" have been lost and require me to manually re-link each one, or delete the now empty file object and add it back in.  This includes embedded objects.
The AI file, nor the graphics have been edited, changed, renamed, or any of the files or folders moved.  Nothing that would cause this that I can think of.  ANyone have a thought why this is happening and how I can prevent it?

  • Exporting png files locally?

I'm wondering how I can export my PS Touch project locally as a .png. As far as I've been able to discern, the only things supported apart from uploading to creative cloud are mailing the files as .jpeg or uploading them s .jpeg to facebook.
Is there any way to do this?

Really, on iPad? Where is version 1.1.1 then? Why have we Still not got Retina support, higher resolution, Masks etc etc etc?? When there's apps for half the price on the app store that do a Lot more, omg this is PHOTOSHOP what the hell is going on? Please please please upgrade the app with new features! Small time devs charging 69p for there apps sitting in their parents basements are releasing ten times more updates for there apps and Adobe are a multi million dollar giant!? It's time to make up for it and bring Photoshop back to the top, you don't want to be put to shame by a bunch of small timers do you? Put the time we all pay you for in to a real juicy big update to wow everyone and make Photoshop 5/5 stars on the App Store like it should be!
I haven't rated it yet! I'll wait a few weeks and see if an update comes first! Sorry if I sounded rude, just frustrated :-p

As I mentioned before in another post, hardware is the common denominator where Photoshop Touch's features are concerned. (Most of the time, the bottleneck is memory.) If you want Retina support, expect to take a hit elsewhere feature or performance-wise. Expect to have half or 3/4 the layers available, for example.
As another example, Autodesk updated their Sketchbook Pro app for iPad to take advantage of Retina. As a result, when you work with a project at 2048 x 1536, you end up with a maximum of 6 layers (as opposed to the original 18 layers available in 1024 x 768 resolution).
Tablets are not full-on PCs and Macs. They still have to catch up.

  • How to export a PSD file with layers to Fireworks PNG file.

    Hi
I've been asked by someone I'm working for to supply the work I've done as a PNG file that can be edited. I was told that a layered PSD file can be converted to a layered fireworks PNG file. I've tried all sorts of things but either ended up with a flattened image or each layer as a seperate file. I've searched all over for answers but nothing as yet!
    thanks

Yes, individual PNG-24 files from Photoshop is what you want. In Photoshop, File>Scripts>Export Layers to Files; browse to save location; choose PNG-24 as the file type; check transparency. Prior to this, if you have floating imagery in any layers in the Photoshop file, you will want to place 1-pixel dots in 2 opposing image corners on those layers, so the all layer sizes will be exported at the same size, for layer-registration when composed in Fireworks. Then delete those dots in the exported PNG files and resave.
Then you will need to compose the layers in Fireworks. Once you get your individual layers in PNG format, you might want to pose this question in the Fireworks forum.

  • Pixel Preview doesn't match exported PNG

I use Illustrator CS4 for icon design, so Pixel Preview is a pretty important feature for me. Unfortunately, I just found out (the hard way) that Pixel Preview isn't accurate - it doesn't show you exactly what you'll get when you export a PNG via Save for Web and Devices.
Here's an example from my current project that shows the problem (enlarged 4x):
A screen snap from AI with Pixel Preview off:
A screen snap from AI with Pixel Preview on:
    The exported PNG file:
Look at the center of the second image: See that dark gray line bleeding from the light gray circle into the black area? Now look at the third image: The line isn't there.
(Please don't fixate on this one example. Since I noticed the problem, I've found inconsistencies all over the place. This one was just the easiest to see.)
If I can't count on the absolute, pixel-for-pixel accuracy of Pixel Preview, then this feature becomes worse than useless in my work, because it actually misleads me into making small tweaks that make the final output look worse.
If anyone knows of a workaround (or a setting that turns on "accurate mode"), I'd love to hear about it.

I can't state this definitively, but the inconsistency seems to happen with gradient fills. (The light gray semicircle in the example in my original post has a gradient fill with a pretty abrupt transition from light to dark.) Maybe the issue is specific to gradients?

  • Edit a png file... change colors and text and then export to gif?

First I want to state that I am VERY new to Fireworks and I am trying to figure out how this works!  I typically use Photoshop.
I was sent a PNG file (from a friend).  The file has many buttons on it that I believe are somehow saved or exported out as gif images to be buttons on her website.  All of the buttons are basic rectangles that are gray with black text.  She was told she could edit all of the buttons quickly in Fireworks (change their color, font color, etc) and it would change them all together.  Then save them all out so we would have the individual gif files for the buttons to save to the directory.
So... I am able to open the png file in Fireworks and I can select each button or all of them, but I cannot see how to change their color and font, etc.  I know this must be very simple!  Can someone help me?
    Thank you!
    Sharlyn

Have a look in the ocument Library panel to see if the buttons are Symbols. If yes, then double click on one of the buttons to open it in the symbol editor where you can easily make changes in all of them at once.

  • Indesign CS5 with PNG file exporting as a PDF file but the text is random bold

    Hello,
I am looking for help to teach me how to solve this problem.
I use Indesign CS5 to make a proposal. I set the page marker and sub title in the master page.
Of course, there are including dozens of pages and some pictures here.
And one of these page, I place a PNG file and type some text.
When I export this file as a PDF file, one page, which is including PNG file, the text becomes random bold.
Therefore, I have used PSD file to cover the PNG file. But finally getting the same problem.
So does anyone can help me how to solve this problem?
Thanks so much for your help.

This sounds like a known issue with transparency on the page. When transparency is introduced ID uses a differnt method, apparently, of rendering text on that page and it appears bolder on screen and can print that way on low resolution devices like desktop printers. It usually is not a problem on press output.
The only way to mainatian consistency would be to introduce transparency on all pages, perhaps by adding a transparent object to your master page.

  • What's the difference between PNG and JPG for exporting .idea files from the Adobe Ideas app?

What's the difference between PNG and JPG for exporting .idea files from the Adobe Ideas app?
What situations are better to export to to .PNG or .JPG?
    J

iPad apps are designed specifically for the iPad and will not run on the iPhone or iPod Touch. iPhone/iPod apps will run on the iPad, but will only take up an iPhone sized portion of the iPad screen (though you get a 2x button which effectively doubles each pixel in both directions so may appear pixelated). There are also 'universal' apps (which have a '+' symbol against them in the store) which have processing in them to recognise the device that they are on and will tailor the display accordingly (so will make use of the iPad's larger screen).

  • Exporting Layers to PNG files using each layer name to create the file name??

    Hi All
I'm trying to sort the following problem and was hoping somebody here could help with a scripting solution - my knowledge extends as far as actions unfortunately - which I don't think is appropriate for this.
I've created a User interface in Illustrator with many layers and have exported this as a psd with layers.
Basically what i'm wanting to do is export every layer as a png file while using the layer name to create the file name - each layer needs to be clipped.
There is no transparency in the png.
I've run the export to files script - but the names are too long and there is no anti aliasing.
I've tried running a script from Illustrator - but it doesn't see sub layers - and doesn't name the layers.
    any help would be appreciated.
    thanking you in advance
    regards

    Hi,
We just released this tool: FERRY (http://ferry.thedamarmada.com). It does exactly what you want and a little bit more.
    I think it's worth it a try.
It comes with a free demo that will export 5 layers.
Take a look and let us know if it's what you need.
    It could be easily tweaked.

  • Hi. I'm using illustrator cs6 on pc. I've made a scientific figure for a paper and now I'm trying to export as a png or save for microsoft office. Despite my figure being in the middle of my artboard, it always comes out bottom left in the png file or jpg

Hi. I'm using illustrator cs6 on pc. I've made a scientific figure for a paper and now I'm trying to export as a png or save for microsoft office. Despite my figure being in the middle of my artboard, it always comes out bottom left in the png file or jpg. Must be making a school boy error! Please help!

In similar cases, my solution is to "select all" then "deselect" only the artwork I want to keep and "delete". If I'm curious I may "cut" then "paste" to see what shows up in the center of the screen. it is usually some stray point. or other element out direct sight.

  • Batch Actions - Export to PNG does not create PNG files

I am testing Illustator CS4 to see if my department will upgrade to CS4 from CS2.  We do a lot of batch conversion of .eps graphics and have never had a problem in previous versions of Illustrator including CS2.
I have created a new Set and Action to Export all .eps files  to .png files from a specific folder.  All the settings appear to be correct and match the settings from CS2.  However, when I run a the bacth on CS4, it appears to go through the motions, the .eps files show the current modified date, but no PNG files are created.  I think this may be a bug, and if this doesn't work, do I try CS3? or stay on CS2 which we rather not do?

I think you will be happier with CS4 and have a suggestion use Fireworks to batch your files to png.

I created a photo book in Photoshop elements 11 that contains png files with the invisible backgrounds.  When I export the book to a jpg or a pdf, the png files appear with white backgrounds.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

jpg and pdf formats don't support transparency. You need to use a format such as tif, png or psd that does.

  • Unknown Error when trying to export movie with certain PNG files in Adobe Premiere

    Hi!
I've made an animation video in Premiere Pro CC2014 combining apple pro-res live action with png animation. When trying to export, some parts of the video are no problem, and some (seemingly random) png files Adobe Premiere just doesn't like?? I don't understand why it will export some and not others?
    Help??!
    Thanks so much!!

Error compiling movie can be anything from gap to bad clip, transition, effect, nest, you name it.
Export from AME with preview open and watch were in the timeline it goes wrong.
That is the place to fix it.

  • Png file inside Premiere Pro CS4 project - export video problem

Hi I've got a strange problem with Premiere CS4. I have a project with two layers. First (bottom) is with video material on it, and on second one (top) has a transparent PNG file. Preview looks great but after exporting it to uncompressed AVI theres a weird "shadow" round area where PNG isn't transparent.
    Preview in Premiere: http://pszajna.ires.pl/preview.jpg
    Export screen: http://pszajna.ires.pl/export.jpg

I see where Ann is going with this. I recommend you check the alpha channel in the source monitor. You may find unwanted variations in transparency.
    Cheers

  • Export only Clipping Mask to PNG File

I recently upgraded from Illustrator CS3 to Illustrator CS5.
In CS3, I was able to:
Create a clipping mask to hide a portion of the graphic.
Set the crop area to match the clipping mask.
Export the graphic to a PNG file, with only the portion of the graphic included in the crop area displayed.
    In CS5,
Converted the crop area to an artboard.
The clipping mask is already in place, so no changes there.
Set the artboard to match the clipping mask.
Attempt to export to a PNG file, but the PNG file automatically contains the entire graphic, not just the area included in the artboard.
I found a workaround online, but it involves flattening the transparency, ungrouping the object and then manually deleting the portions of the graphic that we don't want/need. While this works, it's not a viable solution because I need the ability to go back and make modifications to the original graphic if needed.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
