Exporting project for Utube, online video streaming

obviously i need to take a class in this subject...soo many options now for streaming.
on U-tube i'll see videos posted that look so smooth, not so pixley as mine.....
i eventually started posting most of my clips on mypace, with their video players being smoother, more 'natural'. i'm aware that u-tube uses a kind of Flash program that makes theirs play in the way they do....but some folks have obviously learned how to post clips (usually being professionals and major studios backing them) and look just dandy.
suggestions??
(and if i should post under the discussion topic of "Compressor" let me know.)

I know this type of question gets asked often so you might try a search here.
EXPORT FOR YOUTUBE or similar.
And remember that those studio clips that look so good started out on 35 film looking much better than what you likely started out with.

Which project settings for project for Canon Powershot Video Editing?
I want to edit video taken with a Canon Powershot SD 550 taken in NTSC 640 x 480. When I start a new project, which project settings should I be using? Also when exporting the project to view on a computer should I stick with the AVI or will MPEG or another universal format give me better end quality?

    Hunt,
This user has two thread topics here that are identical to ones at the forum which I frequent. Early on I  downloaded video from the Canon Powershot that he says he is using for the basis of my comments. So, I have put that video through gspot myself. Since the user is going between the two forums (mostly here), I did not want anything lost in the back and forth. The goal is to help attainment of the goal. That is why I am including comments at both locations:
    At The Other Forum
    Project Settings Thread
    http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52299
    Rotation Thread
    http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52298
The user has gotten back to me on the video rotation issue, thanking me, but telling me that another workflow was identified...and, as I note, generously shared with both sites. I am in the process of personally checking out what he said worked for him in that regard. However, the user has not gotten back to me on the topic of project settings.
So to expedite matters, when you get a chance, could you please check out my comments in that thread? I would be interested in your perspective on the matter and what I wrote.
    Thanks.

I Am Sorry. In fact had the DST setting to + 1:0 and I changed to 12:0 am; As the clock time was delayed, because in Portugal we are indeed in summer time!, I changed the time directly. Unfortunately the reminders remain with an hour of advance. The alarm clock that is set crescento for 7:15 minutes as the set initially and never changed. The first reminder has been set for the 7:15 but is now changed to 6:15 due to this error. Does anyone have any suggestions other than modify all reminders. I would add that the Firmware of the Nokia C2 03 est actualized to a V7.48.

    Lamento. De facto tinha a definição de hora de verão para +1hora e alterei para 0horas;

  • What are the best export settings for a HD video in Premier Pro CS4?

    Hi!
I've been having so much trouble with this issue and it's something that continually frustrates my boss. I have a HD video the settings for it are
    FPS 23.98
    1920 x 1080, then a few lines down it says 1408 x 792
    16 bit,
    2 channels
    48000 Hz
What should the settings be when I make a new sequence?
When I look at it in the window in Premiere Pro I have to contantly 'shrink' the image to fit the window, is that something I should be doing or does it indicate the sequence settings are incorrect?
But more importantly what should the export settings be? I exported a 4 minute long video and the size was 1 GB, I know that's too big.
I need to export it without loosing any quality and export another one that meets the Youtube and Vimeo limits on size.
Vimeo is 500 MB per week, sometimes I upload 4 videos per week. I think Youtube you can only upload 500 MB at a time.
I need to get smaller sizes with loosing the least amount of quality possible AND the best export settings for quality, so I guess I have 3 separate questions-
What are the best sequence settings for HD video?
What are the best export settings for HD without loosing any quality?
What are the best export settings for the size to come out around 500 MB with loosing the least amount of quality possible?
    Thank You!

On the above thread I used the 5th anwer, and it's going to take about 7 hours to export a 4 minute video :/

    It Stands for "Coder Decoder."
Your format is like a container for your video file. Certain containers can hold certain codecs and not others. Other containers can hold other codecs. Sometimes different containers can hold the same codecs.
This might be a bad analogy but I'll give it a try.
A coffe cup (container) can hold pretty much any liquid you drink, where a red solo cup (container) won't hold scolding water. So, the coffe cup would be your container of choice most likely because it has the most options for liquids (codecs). But, you might want a red solo cup for just a single crappy beer at a party (a moderate quality streaming video on the web). In that case, you don't need all the optoins of another container.
In Premiere Pro CC H.264 is a Container and the Codec in one option. This has been streamlined for web distrobution of video to be played in browsers without things like Flash or special players.
Were as if you choose the QuickTime Container there are over 40 codec optoins (at least on my machine with additinal ones installed) but you may run into an issue where your browser doesn't support QuickTime playback.
I would say that your container is for compatability with players and your codec is taken into consideration when looking at the quality of the compression.
Yesteraday I wrote a blog entery on Exporting from Premiere Pro and found that the MPEG-4 codec inside of the QuickTime container gave me much richer colors than the H.264 container/codec option.
I posted the link before but here it is:

  • Trouble viewing online videos (streaming issue?)

Hello. I'm having trouble watching online videos. Video podcasts downloaded in iTunes are fine, but if for instance I want to watch a TV show online or a video clip from a news website, the picture is choppy and the sound breaks up. It's as if it isn't streaming properly (if that is the correct term). I have an original Macbook (2006), OSX10.4.11, 2 GHz Intel, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM if that helps anyone. My husband has the same computer, purchased at the same time, only his was the model with more memory (not sure how much at the moment). His works fine, though.
Also, not sure if this is related, but my computer has a tendency to spin (or make the noise as if it is spinning) randomly - sometimes for long periods of time.
Please any advice on how to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I am moving this question to another area. I see I posted it under Optical Drive

  • Import/Export Settings for Canon T4i Video

    Hey folks,
I'm new to Premiere and loving it, but I'm wondering what the best sequence settings, as well as export settings, will be for video captured from my Canon Rebel T4i camera.
I prefer to shoot either in 1080p with 24 fps, or 720p at 60 fps––what settings within premiere should I use when setting up my project, and what are some good export options for Youtube/Vimeo?

  • FCE export settings for higher quality video

Hello. I'm a self-schooled newspaper video features producer and relative newcomer to Final Cut Express, shifting from Premium Elements. I've just begun using it to upload videos to my newspaper's finicky web system, which will only accept .flv files of a certain size. My modus operandi has been to export my videos as large .avi files, using Quicktime conversion and DV/DVCPRO/NTSC, with medium quality, with 16 bit sound set at 32 Khz. Then I run that .avi through the Adobe Flash Media Encoder with a frame rate of 15 fps, deinterlacing and resizing the screen to 640 by 480. This procedure (outlined by our former video editor) produces serviceable web quality video (You can see video that results from using these settings at http://wvgazette.com/multimedia). So, two questions: 1) I have created an 8-minute FCE music video for my band and wish to export it at a higher quality (for use on Vimeo) than these newspaper settings. Which of them do I change so that a higher quality video results without waiting all night for a massive file to upload? 2) And wthere might I turn for guidance on better understanding the Sanskrit of FCE video export settings for newbies? Thanks for any help.

The simplest way to produce good quality video for the internet is:-
    1. File>Export Using QT Conversion.
    2. The "Format" window should say, "QT Movie".
    3. In "Use" select "LAN/Intranet" from the dropdown menu.
    4. Click "Save" and when it has finished encoding, upload it.
Do not mess about altering audio settings, frame rates etc.
Using the above settings an 8 minute video would be encoded in around 20 minutes (depending on computer speed) and would be well under 100MB.
    Is that too big?

  • 10 hour export time for 2 minute video

    Hi,
I am using Premiere Pro CS3 with Windows Vista.
My laptop has 50gb of free disk space and 4gb of memory.
I have recently purchased a new Cannon camera that records video in Mov with res 1920x1080.
I have a six minute video clip that is 860mb in its original format. I am attempting to resize the video to 1280x720 whilst also altering the levels and changing the speed/duration to 220%. With this alteration to the speed the clips length is reduced to around 2 or 3 minutes long. I wish to export the video as a Mov, keeping it in its original format.
When attempting to render by hitting enter on the clip, or skipping straight to exporting, I recieve an estimated time of 10 hours to complete. The exportation seems to be going ahead but only by 1 frame every 10 or 20 seconds.
Would really appreciate any tips with where i'm going wrong with this. I'm fairly inexpiernced with premiere pro and therefore do not know if this is a problem with settings I am using or just with my computer.
    Thanks Very Much
    Tim

1st - the average laptop is going to be VERY slow for video editing (more below)
    - Laptop Video Editing PC http://forums.adobe.com/message/4578948
    - go to http://ppbm5.com/ and check the laptop results to "guesstimate" where your brand/model would place
2nd - even a fast computer may be slow, depending on the video file and with "combined" effects
More on why the "average" laptop is slow... plus, of course, the average laptop has a 5400rpm drive instead of 7200rpm
Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
    Partition = Crash http://forums.adobe.com/thread/957286
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used the eSata hardware below... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • I need help with exporting project for the web

Probably something i am doing wron g but here are the problems. When I use Quicktime Converter, if I try to convert to a Quicktime movie or an MPEG-4 nothing happens and i get a 'File error;File Unknown message' when i try to convert to an AVI File, it works, but even though I have already rendered the project, it shows up with little flashes of blue that say 'unrendered'. and finally, when I try to make it a w

  • Best export settings for 51 min video for itune styles sites?

Hey There I have a new bmx DVD about to come out and i want to try and sell it on PayLoadz.com,Itunes but they have a 2gig limit. The project settings are 1920 by 1080 30p and im using premiere pro cs 6. I hope someone can help thanks...

There is no way to get a decent 1920X1080 video into 2G when the duration is 51 minutes.
The bitrate would have to be so low that the image quality would suffer terribly.
Do the math. If you put it out there at a reasonable 25Mb/s you would need a file size of almost 10G.
Divide that by 5 to get 2G and your 25Mb/s becomes 5Mb/s.  I suppose you could try that. If it was free you might get away with it. But if you want to sell it, people are going to expect a better image. I know I would.
But there you have it. Use H.264 as Kevin suggests, and set it for 5Mb/s. Export it and see what you think.

  • Online Video Streaming was fine... until new OS update 10.2 (or before) causing lag

    Here is the scenario:
I've had my z10 shortly after it's launch in Hong Kong, and aside from a few minor tweaks, it worked brilliantly.
I had all my email accounts, whatsapp, and was using it very heavily during working hours.
After work, i go home, and I watch movies streamed online from the z10, and HDMI it to the TV.
I'm not after top-quality viewing, but it's basically good enough to catch the movies that are not worth paying to see.
anyhow, all if fine until for the past 2 months (and I believe it was after an update) i am encountering a lag on the streaming component.
testing to see if it may be the bandwith problem, i try to load a short 5-10min youtube clip, and same result.
the sound is fine, and continuous, however, the videos itself plays for 10-15 secs, then freezes, while the sound continues.
The video then starts playing again, but jumps ahead to stay in-sync with the sound.
Is anyone else encountering this problem???
    Please help....

  • Online video streaming choppy, slow. why?!

I recently upgraded to 10.5 for ipod functionality and better online streaming and I'm noticing that sometimes video still streams really really choppy. I'm using Firefox 3.5.7, have all the Sofwate Updates installed and still it's choppy.
I have a fast broadband connection and 1.5gbs of RAM, shouldn't be having a problem still. What's going on?
I was just trying to stream the Daily Show for example and it was Frozen Image -pause- frozen image - pause. VERY choppy and slow. Also, it totally slowed down the rest of my computer. There's no way my computer is too slow for that, it runs great when I'm running far more CPU intensive programs like audio editing, photoshop, etc.
Can someone tell me what the deal is?
    Thanks.

Usually within the download of the flash player there is an uninstaller.
Or in the site it came from. And on the Adobe site is a page where it
can check your computer's system to see which version is running.
Same for shockwave. Either the uninstaller is with the download item
in a folder when the package is opened, or it is separate. Somehow
when I downloaded & upgraded both of these players I ended up with
their Uninstallers, too. Some player downloads are larger in size.
Also, I downloaded Flip4Mac's WMV player, the free basic version.
Somewhere, I have VLC player and a few others. They can help.
With new Adobe players, some things do improve. High-end HD video
does require other support in rendering, to include better hardware.
In a few cases, if some video can be paused and it loads in the back-
ground awhile, when it resumes it may be a little better even in a G4.
Firefox will sometimes provide a dialog box, saying it found an older
version and asks if you want to proceed & replace it, on install. Or
you'll end up with two in the Applications folder and the icon on the
Dock will keep on running the older one it finds first. You can check
to see what's there and the date/version of it. Trash older ones. All
the bookmarks are in another location.
    There was a good deal on MacBooks in the Apple Store's special deals;
    and a fairly good 21.5" iMac. Those deals sometimes are great finds;
unlike places who 'fix used computers' these include a basic AppleCare
plan and have current software, too. - +{Had I not bought a used clunker+
+car two years ago, I could have bought 4 Macs in lemon repairs alone.+
+Yet they tell me things could be worse, I could be living in the clunker!}+
    Good luck & happy computing!
