Exporting Recomendations

Hi again,
I need a little help or recomendation for export options.
I used the default settings for .mov except changing the frame rate to 30. The video plays fine in QT but when I go full screen video studders like a web cam but not as bad, but the audio is fine. I need the video in a file format so it can be inserted into a presentation software called Media Shout. Shout will play almost anything you give it but I would prefer .mov, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv or divx. I need a good recomendation and export settings for a decent file that will play full screen through a projector at a reso;ution fo 800x600 and or 1024x768. And if it is not asking too much, something thst will not leave colored blocks on the stills and will not have horizontal lines in the white areas of the motion sequences, particularly in the overlays, transitions and effects.

Ok, So I took your suggestion and did a search(Yes I read your minds). I will use Export to QT Movie. Then I will make a DVD and just extract the VOB file and change the extension to mpeg. Just because Shout likes them better.
Thanks

  • How to export DV to H264 with the same quality as other apps.

After some nightmare decision and many recomendations I've decided not to use imovie08 to edit my DV video. So I started using iMovieHD. But after my first project I was shocked. After asembling some clips and export to h264 (no effects, transitions or titles) the quality was far inferior to the same original DV file exported with mffpegx or Mpegstreamclip. You can download here two files to compare:
    http://cid-79fe52c9afb5b05d.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Video%20TEst%20iMovieH D
The name of the file refers to the application used to convert.
    I export using Quicktime->Expert settings->h264 (I have tried both mp4 or quicktime)
    Image size SD (768*576)
    Frame rate 25
    Bitrate 2000
As you can see using MediaInfo the two files have very close especifications (I couldn't get the exact ones).
Are I'm doing something wrong? Can I get the same quality I get with the other apps? or should I export to DV and then do the conversion with some other program?

    Thanks for the input.
You point something interesting, but after further experimenting I get no improvements.
Since there is no deinterlacing in mp4 export, and switch to QuickTime H264. There you get a option to deinterlace, but the result is a movie with near the same quality as the mp4 file. The only improvement is visible in the diagonal lines in the shirt.
The worse thing I see in the video does not have to be with deinterlacing but with the objects being doubled like a picture of a fast moving object or perhaps like the shadow of a phanton. These does not improve at all with deinterlacing the video.

  • How I export from HDV to SD (DVD)... What about HD versions suitable for Macs and Pcs?

    Hi,
I have just finished editing a short movie based on some high res stills combined with some 1080i HDV footage.
After completing the edit in CS4 (in a HDV 1080i environment) I went through Adobe Media Encoder in order to downsize and converting into an m2v file ready for my Encore project.
As you probably well know this is far from satisfactory in terms of the down sampling capabities shown by AME as well as the lack of proper colour conversion.
So, after giving up on the Dan Isaacs method, AVI synth didnt seem friendly to this user... as well as the inability of CS4 to frameserve..
My solution was to exported the Microsoft AVI using the HUFFYUV codec at 100% - With Progressive scan, when ever I interlaced my output it showed obvious interlacing in my player, odd or even fields first...
I then used VirtualDub to do the down sizing
Finally Procoder 3 to convert to m2v.
The results still have no proper colour conversion properties but look much sharper than the regular CS4 encode using AME
OK, that took an eternity to discover and still leaves me with another problem.
I want to export straight from CS4 to media type that can be played on both PC and Macs in HD.
Before I go down another gruop of dead ends and trial and error discoveries, could anyone here suggest a recomended and successful workflow?
       Many thanks,
    Phil.

let me see if I can help out a little here.
The problem with converting 1080i to SD in software is that FCP seems to do a not-very-good job of downsampling the image, particularly when you are going directly to DV. Details get blurry, and other compression artifacts become quite noticeable. I have also experienced trouble with the HDV fields not getting processed correctly if I go to SD mpeg directly from an HDV timeline or movie file.
Your best bet is one of the following workflows:
Export a 1080i HDV or AIC movie file and re-import to FCP. Place this clip into an anamorphic SD sequence. It doesn't matter if the sequence is DV or Uncompressed if you send the sequence directly to Compressor from FCP, because this will ignore any rendered material and use an uncompressed image buffer as it encodes the mpeg. Do not letterbox your widescreen video if you are going to DVD - widescreen DVD video should always be full-frame anamorphic.
Your other option is to attempt to use Compressor to down-res the sequence or a self-contained movie of your HDV, starting with one of the advnace format conversion presets in Compressor. However, you'll have to cutstomize the preset by turning on the frame controls, and testing the settings to make sure you are happy with the result. Turning on frame controls will increase the ratio of your encoding time anywhere from 4 to 20:1.
I have tried all of these methods, and none of them look as good as capturing the downconverted video from the deck after mastering to HDV tape.
    Hope this helps -

  • Exporting HD Video to QT

I am trying to export an HD video to Quicktime with minimum compression and no letter box (black at top and bottom). Can anyone recomend some export settings? Or a way to get the video to fill the canvas without cropping it?
    Thank you,
    Mike
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    JK,
Thank you for the info I will try that to get rid of the letterbox. Does the compression break up the video much?
    Mike
    Hey jedit,
I modifed my own preset in Compressor to do this. I
think I started with the "Quicktime Download - QT 7
Compatible" preset and changed a few items. You want
to use H.264 as the compression codec with multi-pass
encoding and a decent bitrate (try 980 to start).
Decide how big you want it to be and enter your
values in the size tabe (next to last tab) at a 16:9
ratio; keep the Pixel Aspect Ratio at 'default' but
Constrain the display aspect to 16:9 (if you have
your match wrong in the video size you'll see those
values update). This will give you a widescreen QT
    without the black bars.

  • Oracle 10g Discoverer Reports & export to xls fails for large reports

    Hi ,
    We have following configurations:
    1: RHEL 5.4
    2: Discoverer :Version 10.1.2.48.18
    3: Oracle10g Apps Version : Version 10.1.2.0.2
    Issue:
Most of small reports works fine ....but when large discoverer reports are executed the page
keeps on refreshing for 15-20 hours but no output ....same for export to xls ......
But same reports works fine in oracle9i for same data voulme....
    Observations:
When on linux with top command the processes are monitored its observed that discoverer process
dis51ws dies for large reports after 1-2 minutes ...& the page keeps on refreshing but no output....
for 1-2 minutes it consumes 50-80% cpu utilisation then process disappears & cpu 80% idle ...
It seems that as 10g Apps is installed on RHEL 5.4 ...non certfified OS causing an issue...
Can any one adds more inputs in this regards......

    Hi ,
as per Note: 466697.1 ....its an memory error....& need to increase MaxVirtualDiskMem and MaxVirtualHeapMem
But we already have slowly increased MaxVirtualDiskMem and MaxVirtualHeapMem to below very high values ...but the issue remains same.......
as per note we are getting Logkeys: exceptions discoiv.servlet_exceptions error but
after that we are not getting below error ............

Discoverer performance is largely determined by how well the database
has been designed and tuned for queries.
A well-designed database will perform significantly better than a poorly
    designed database.
Workbook design can also affect query performance.
    1. Apply latest Discoverer patch as documented in <<Note:237607.1>>
'ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Version'.
    2. Increase the maximum JVM heap memory:
In general, the default values for the minimum heap (-Xms) memory and
maximum heap (-Xmx) memory are sufficient.
However, if your organization consistently runs large Discoverer queries
then you may benefit from increasing the maximum heap memory from the
    default values.
This is recomended if your users are typically running large queries via
    Discoverer Viewer.
Increasing the JVM memory can help to avoid "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError"
    in Discoverer Viewer:
Please see <<Note 563960.1>>, Best Practice: Configuring The
    OC4J_BI_Forms JVM For
Discoverer Viewer/Portlet 10g Performance And Stability for specific
    details.
    3. Disable Query Prediction:
Query Prediction provides an estimate of the time required to retrieve
    the information in a query.
The Query Prediction appears before the query and consumes time.
Edit the <oracle_home>/discoverer/util/pref.txt on the middle-tier
    server and set:
    QPPEnable=0
    Also set:
    QPPObtainCostMethod = 0
    4. Uncheck the 'Enable fantrap detection' checkbox.
When the box is checked, every query generated by Discoverer is
interrogated. Discoverer will detect a fan trap and rewrite the query to
ensure that the aggregation is done at the correct level.
Please refer to <<Note:210553.1>>, Oracle BI Discoverer: Fan Trap
    Resolution - Correct Results
Everytime for more information on fantraps.
To disable, in Plus go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Fan Trap
    settings.
In Viewer go to Preferences and uncheck the box.
    5. Disable Materialized Views/Summaries
    In pref.txt add parameter:
    MaterializedViewRedirectionBehavior = 0
Value equal to 0 ensures that Materialized View (MV) Redirection is
always performed when MVs are available.
    6. Improve query performance by optimizing the SQL.
    In pref.txt modify/add following parameters:
    SQLFlatten = 0
    SQLItemTrim = 0
    SQLJoinTrim = 0
    UseOptimizerHints = 0
If value of SQLFlatten is 1 then Discoverer will merge inline views in
the query SQL where ever possible.
In case of SQLItemTrim, Discoverer will remove unused folder items from
the query SQL where possible and for SQLJoinTrim Discoverer will remove
unnecessary joins from the query where possible.
UseOptimizerHints will add Optimizer hints to SQL if set >
0.Unnecessarily making Discoverer perform these checks consumes
resources and rather than increasing the performance may reduce the same. So unless you feel these checks have to be performed depending on
requirements, assign zero to these parameters.
    7. When Discoverer builds a query, Discoverer makes a database security
check to confirm that the user has access to the tables referenced in
the folders. Avoiding this check can save time.
So in pref.txt underDatabase section add:
    ObjectsAlwaysAccessible = 1
    8. Whenever you are creating conditions, ensure that you match the Case.
This in turn can reduce the time Discoverer spends on changing the Case
    and matching.
    For example:
    option Upper(Department) in (Upper('VIDEO SALES')
    9. Ensure that summaries are refreshed periodically in Discoverer
    Administrator.
    10. Increase the amount of memory available for the Discoverer data cache. Please refer to <<Note 245752.1>>, Explaining Oracle BI Discoverer
    Session Memory Management
    And Server Cache Settings.
    11. Performance may be enhanced by enabling OracleAS Web Cache.

  • Problem Export to Excel it takes long time and Takes more space.

    Hello All,
when we export to Excel in portal(reports), it takes long time and it takes more space.
how to overcome this problem please any one knows provide the proper solution for this issues
    Regards,
    Ch.

    Hi Chetans,
I have had the same problem, and I had to create a OSS message to SAP in order to solve this issue, until now I don't have an answer. They made me to change a lot of configuration in Java and BW without luck. To tell you more, when we try to export to excel the java instance restarts aumotatically.
But we have this problem, when we try to export a huge quantity of data, so I found a note which says the limitation of exporting to excel. Take a special attention to the Performance section.
    Note 1178857
    [https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1178857|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1178857]
I recomend you that you create a message to SAP. If you find a solution, please let me know.

  • Export for system copy fails - Error 9 (Bad file number)

    Hello all,
I am attempting to perform the export phase for a hetergenous system copy on our BI system (BI 7.0 - NW2004s).  This system runs on HP-UX 11.11 using Oracle  10.2.0.2 and will be migrated to Windows Server 2003 and MS SQL Server 2005, once the export is complete.
While running sapinst to export the data from the source system, there are several input dialog screens that are skipped, which means I am not able to enter all the paramters used for the export.  After seeing this behavior from sapinst, I reviewed the sapinst.log and sapinst_dev.log files and find the warning/error "System call failed. Error 9 (Bad file number)".  I have included a portion of these files below.
I have reviewed notes 546006 and 583861, but these seem to refer to an Oracle error ORA-27121, but I am not receiving any Oracle errors in sapinst.log or the Oracle alert log.  I have looked for possible permission or ownership problems with any of the SAP or Oracle files, but have not found any that were incorrect.  Also, these errors do not specify which file sapinst is having problems with, so I do not have  a specific file or area to check.
If anyone has seen something similar to this and has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Hello Peter,
Thanks for the reply. I did confirm the points you made, and have the details below.
    1. check filesystem, if you have enough space, especially /tmp
All filesystems have available space, and /tmp has 310 MB available, before the start of sapinst.
    2. check again alert log, trace log for Oracle,
I could not find any errors in the alert_SID.log or any unusual trace files.
    3. How did you run sapinst? Are you using "root" account.
I am running sapinst as user root and I am following all the recomendations in the system copy guide (at least as far as I can tell.  ;p )
We have four BI systems in this landscape, and the other three have migrated successfully.  The procedure I am using, is the same as for the other 3 systems and uses the same SAP media directory that was used on the other systems.
One other item that may be part of my problem here, is that this system is the production system, and was originally installed as a high-availability system, using HP-UX Service Guard for clustering.  Currently, this system does not have fail-over enabled, but of course the cluster is still intact.  One required piece of the Service Guard enviornment is the use of a virtual hostname.  This seems to resolve successfully by sapinst, as I see the correct (virtual) hostname referenced several times.  While this is a clustered system (for fail-over purposes), the CI and DB are installed on the same host.  So it is not a distributed system, and if failover had been initiated, it would fail both the CI and DB instance, which is the same and only SAP instance.
This did raise one question in my mind, however.  I am attempting to extract this using the following menu path within sapinst.
SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Support Release 3  --> Software Life-Cycle Options --> System Copy --> Oracle --> Source System Export --> Central System --> Based on AS ABAP and AS Java
Since this does use Service Guard, but is not a distributed system, should I be using a different path in the sapinst tree, for the export?  I have only performed a migration using the above path, so I am not familar with the detailf of the other types, such as High-Availabitly or Distributed-System.
    Regards,
    Rusty

  • System copy via SAPINST (Export/Import)

    Hello!
We are using SAP ERP EHP4 system on Windows with SAP MaxDB (Version: 7.7.07.09).
We would like to copy this productive system to QAS system.
Therefore we successfully run SAPINST (with running db and sap, because we cannot stop productive system) with option Export and have currently an valid export of productive system.
After we read several sap notes (such as 1014782, 129352) we found that the system copy procedure Backup/Restore will be recomended.
    Questions
    1) Can we still copy productive system via export and import option with SAPINT?
1a) Should/must the SAP Max DB instance be installed before runing SAPINT on the target server?
1b)  Which SAP MaxDB version should be installed on the target server?
Has some one experience with system copy of SAP systems with SPA MaxDB via Export/Import?
It will be great to get some answers or recommendation.

So try. It is called Oracle XML-SQL utility and it set of classes for direct XML manipulation from/to database with HUGE amount of features. You can use it from JAVA and PL/SQL (via Java Stored Procedures). It is realy great.

  • Export HDV1080 16:9 to Quicktime DV720 16:9

    Hi there Mac guru's
I've had a bit of problem exporting my HDV movie in Final Cut Pro HD. I burnt the exported Quicktime file to a single layer DVD (pioneer DVR109) and the movie plays very 'streaky' - horizontal lines when the camera-shot is panning.
I thought this must be because I burnt a HD file to a standard DVD and played it through a standard PAL UK DVD player. I then re-saved via a different setting in the export (video setting - DV) but the video is now 4:3.
I guess I'm gonna have to try different variations of exporting the movie; essentially I want to export at the best possible quality and burn from iDVD, keeping the 16:9 aspect ratio.
Does anyone know which setting (from the quicktime drop down menu) is the one to choose to get the best picture for a UK 16:9 TV.
    Much appreciated.
PC the poor Mini Mac is gasping for breath rendering and exporting HDV!.
PS- Video captured on Sony HDR-HC3, highly recomended, but not so good low light recording as my old Sony DCRPC-330
    Mac Mini 1.25Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4)

It sounds like it is okay until you encode it for a DVD (in other words the FInal Cut Project itself looks fine?)
What you should do is export it at the highest quality possible. 8 or 10 bit.
Then what you need to do is use either Compressor or other encoder to encode. Compressor has some 16:9 PAL Presets.
You should use 2 Pass VBR at the highest quality setting (designated "best" for the shortest time period that exceeds the running time of your footage) material. Of course there are more factors that go into encoding, but this may be a good place for you to start.
You probably want to export a moment or two of the problem sections to test.

  • Exporting from LR5 at specific dimensions

Exporting in LR5 for a photo contest.  Stated requiremnts are "high res JPEG at 300 dpi, no larger than 8x12 inches".  Just not sure what settings to use in LR5/cc to meet these specs.  There is no "dpi".
Am I right in assuming that if I put 300 into ppi, that that will set the resolution and also 'fix' the maximize size of the image so it wont get enlarged beyond what would look good/be printable?  I imagine that the images are 'judged' as JPEGs on a monitor and the selections will then will be printed in a Blurb book in various final printed sizes.
I obviously want no degradation of image quality and dont want all images automatically enlarged to 8x12 inches.  Some of my pics are square crops and dont want them changed to 8x12.  Also one pic is from small area of original image and not sure if it will blow up well to 8x12 so dont want it automatically enlarged to 8x12 inches.  Shooting a D300 in raw if that matters.
New to this and fairly clueless so apologize if I'm asking an obvious question.  Any help appreciated, but looking for recomendations of the exact LR5 export settings that I should enter.  Thanks.

I  interpret the photo contest requirements as meaning, "We will be making "review prints" of all submitted pictures at a size no larger than 8"x12" and ask that you submit your images at 300dpi.
I suggest submitting your pictures using the maximum print size, which can be done using these LR Export module settings:
    1) File Settings: JPEG, sRGB, Quality = 90 or higher
    2) Image Sizing: Short Edge = 8.0", Resolution = 300 ppi
Standard 2:3 aspect ratio images will print at 8"x12" and Square 1:1 aspect ratio images will print at 8"x8".
If you have any images with an aspect ratio larger than the standard 2:3 ratio you will need to use Long Edge = 12", Resolution = 300 ppi to create these JPEGs. This is the required to meet 8"x12" maximum print size @ 300 dpi constraint. For example if you have a panoramic image with 1:2 ratio it must print at 6"x12" size to stay within the 8"x12" print size constraint. When reviewing images the judges don't want to be influenced by the print size, so this constraint helps to keep all of the "review prints" as close as possible in size (regardless of their aspect ratio).
    3) Output Sharpening: Screen Standard, Low, or High as required to achieve the desired sharpening of the Exported image as it appears in LR at 1:1 Zoom view.
(Technically a print will need added sharpening, but this will make the screen image appear over-sharpened.)
"Is there a way in LR5 to see my image's pixel dimensions?  In photoshop it seems I can find that under Image.  Cant seem to find that info in LR5 tho."
You can only see the image files pixel dimensions from inside the Library and Develop modules, but not in the Export module. Unlike PS you can't see the image file's 'Resolution' in any of LR's modules. Camera image files technically have no 'Resolution' that is of any practical use. For example a full-frame Canon 5D MKII camera has a sensor 'Resolution' of 5616x3744, which translate to a 'Resolution' value of 5616÷36mm = 156ppmm x 25.4 = 3962.4 ppi. However, it would be useful to have the the ability to read and use the image file 'Resolution inside LR for specicifc purposes such as this photo contest. Here's what I have suggested:

  • Exporting image sequence (tga filetype)

    Hello,
    I'm using Apple® Motion 5.1 on Apple® OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks.
I can only export a project as image sequence with the following filetypes:
    DPX Image
    JPG Image
    OpenEXR
    Photoshop® File
    PNG Image
    TIFF File
How I can export the project as TGA filetype image sequence?
    Thanks.

This is correct, Targa is not an option for export from share in Motion.  My first question would be, is TGA an absolute requirment or preference?  PSD,TIFF or EXR should pretty much be equivelent and and just as well supported in any app that reads image sequences.  If TGA is absolutely required, and you have Compressor, you can use Send To Compressor for share.  Then add an image sequence preset.  Inside compressor you can change the file format to TARGA.
If you don't have Compressor, and again, TGA is an absolute requirment. I'd recomend exporting to tiff and then using a third party app to convert to TGA.

  • Crop lines on exported video

    Hey people!
I'm editing a video on Premiere CS5.5 where i need to use the crop tool on the sides of the original video (to get rid of unwanted elements), use the change color tool to make the background white and then use a white background layer... now i have a problem! when i watch the exported file i can see thin white lines, them being the crop lines... how do i get rid of them?
by the way, if anyone knows a simplier and faster way to do what i intend, which is basically giving a full white background to a video where i have a female model on a yellowish background with unwanted elements on the sides (projectors and stuff) let me know please!
    cheers and thanks!
    Ivo

as far as I understood, what you are trying too do is remove the background. Instead of replacing the color with white, why not just replace it with transparent? This is best done with a key, for example the build in ultra key is not too bad and is far more flexible than the color replace tool.
Now to get rid of other elements in the background I recomend the garbage mask, which comes with 8 or 16 points.
About the crop tool: in CC there is a great new feature which allows you to feather the edges of the croped images.

  • How large is a flash export?

I've built an interactive DVD presentation using Encore 1.5, and I just saw that Encore cs3 will allow you to export to flash. Does anyone know how large a flash file you end up with? My DVD project is about 1 gig, which of course is too large for your average web user. I'd love to export it to flash to put it on a web site. Any ideas?

Just built a 600 MB project into flash (A little more than 1/2 the size of 1 gb) and the finished flash files totaled 46 Meg.
Great feature and I recomend the upgrade.

  • HDV export to H.264 jittery within Media Encoder

I'm rendering out a 50 minute documentary shot and edited in HDV 60i. I did  it within Premeire Pro CS4 using Adobe Media Encoder CS4. First I exported it as a Quicktime H.264 1920x1080 29.97 progressive video. The video looks PERFECT, and is 31GB.
Trying to get the video file to less than 4.7 gb to burn onto a dvd as a image file, I then exported both the PP timeline and the QT H.264 file in Meda Encoder to the MP4 H.264 1920x1080 29.97 progressive and it came out to 4.5 GB. The image quality looks good, but scences that have a lot of movement the video is noticably jittery. The reason I want this encode to work is because I would like to be able to burn the  HD image file to DVD to distribute along with the regular SD DVD. Does anybody know why it's jittery? Is there a setting I have to change? Is there another Codec someone could recomend to get me under 4.7 HD while keeping the full HD quality?
Funny thing is if I play the jittery MP4 H.264 though my Western Digital HD player (plays 1080 movies off a portable usb hard drive to a television monitor up to 1080p via HDMI cable) it plays perfect, no jitters. But if I burn the same file to dvd and open on another computer (after copy/paste to hard drive) it is jittery.
    Thanks for the help!!
