  • Exporting a web report to Excel

    Hi,
When I export a web report to Excel, it works fine. when I resave the same file as .xls file, the excel file size is reduced drastically (less than 1/10).
Why is this happening? Any way to reduce the file size in the first stage, that is down loading to Excel from web.
    Thanks
    Unni

    Hi,
I don't understand what do you mean here. Do you mean we could not reduce size in the first time? We have exactly the same problem and the file size is about 20-40 MB. This size is too big to download by end user. It's excel file with .xls extension. When I open it by Excel and then try to Save As, it try to save as Web Page with *.htm extension. If I resave as a Excel Workbook format, the size is reduced to 3-4 MB. My question is the same as the other folk, how do I save it as Excel format with proper size the first time?
    Thanks,

  • Export of WebI reports to XML in BO4.1

    Hello,
I've seen some of BO What's New presentation stating that export of WebI reports to XML is possible in BO 4.1. However, my standalone client (4.1 SP1) does not offer this function.
My question thus is, whether export to XML is really possible, and if it is, which SP will we need for that.
    Best regards,
    Petr Götz

    Hello Victor,
This is the webcast which states XML as a possible export format. It even states that XML export was already available in 4.0SP5, which is clearly not true:
What is new with Web Intelligence BI 4.1 – Part 1, Developer Support ASUG Webcast
    See Figure 3.
Export to XML would be highly appreciated for our project, since we will need to export the report structures and then import them to a custom-coded application.
If XML export is not currently supported, is it at least planned for some of the next SPs to be released in near future?
    Best regards,
    Petr

How can i create Schedule  to check if the reports have data , send it to Specific user , if not send it to other user
How to do that by Detail Please

Give it a shot with BO Publication. You can send the reports to different email dynamically based on contents. Not sure, if this works for the blank values!

  • Repeating row texts when exporting web report to Excel

    Dear all,
When exporting a web report (including a structure/hierarchy) to Excel (via the 'export to excel button), the row texts (e.g. balance sheet texts) appear twice (column A and B)in the Excel result.
When using the web context menu 'Export to Excel' this issue does not occur.
I am using a BW 3.5 system which has been upgraded to support pack 16.
I assume it is the combination of the structure and the 'export to excel' functionality that does not match up, because when I switch off the hierarchy functionality in the web report query properties, the export to excel does not give me any problems.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arjan.

Did you write that software, COTS package called Medgate?
If not then ask that company for support. No one here would know how to fix it. They are using the CR RDC report engine.
    Thank you

    1)     Check if there is any conditional formatting applied.

  • Exporting BO XI WebI Reports - How to

    Hello,
I'm quite green when it comes to BO & Reporting, I would appreciate as many details as you can muster.
My goal is to send a Web Intelligence report using the scheduling system to a Web server (SharePoint).  I assume exporting the WebI report to a HTML format would be the easiest way to publish the Report on the web server (would be easiest for end-users so they dont have to load another app).  Although, exporting to HTML is not an option that I see (only WebI, PDF & XLS).
Currently, I have found I can:
       schedule a report to run,
export the report to email, file location, & ftp
       export to Excel, or PDF
Can anyone provide any tips how to export to an external / network drive in a web format?
As a band-aid, I'm sure I can figure out myself how to
       schedule,
       export a PDF (or XLS),
to a network (or FTP) drive, onto the web server
and on the web server, publish that file
    Thank you,
    Drew

    Hi Drew,
HTML export is not support in WebI, only in CR.
Alan`s idea would be the best. Another would be:
Exporting to pdf to a share on your Sharepoint Server. Create a website on your IIS linked to the Report. Than you could easily put that link (eg. http://yourserver/report.pdf) on your sharepoint Portal and the users can view the .pdf.

  • Webi reports - Problem exporting to excel

    HI,
I have exported a webi report as an excel file. The report contains a column with numeric values preceded by a dollar sign. After exporting to excel, i want to calculate the sum of the values in that column. However some cells show a numeric value, while some others show string value (i.e. text) because of which I am not being able to calculate the sum. Please help.

    Hi there,
Is the object that you are exporting with the dollar sign a string?  If so then this is normal because it is not numeric.  I tried the workflow in Excel and wen I try to apply a sum, it seems to change one of the values from string to numeric but this is within excel.  Maybe this is happening to you too.  In order to be able to add a calculation correctly, you need to change the object to a numeric.  You can do this by creating a new variable in webi, removing the $ and converting it to a numeric. For Ex:  "=ToNumber(Substr([dollar string object];2;10))".  Note, if you still want the $ to appear, you can use the format number feature.
    Hope this helps!

  • Export WebI Report in others formats

    Hi,
Is there any way to export a WebI report in HTML format. Current only the following output format options are available while scheduling a WebI report:
    1) Web Intelligence
    2) Microsoft Excel
    3) Adobe Acrobat
    thanks!!!

    Hi Alvaro,
These are the only supported formats. Desktop Intelligence and Crystal support other formats. You might consider the Query as a Web Service which can provide your data as XML.

    Alan

  • Exporting Webi reports to another server

I have webi reports in dev that need to go to production.
How would I be able to save/export the webi report from the dev server to the production server in webi (without using the migration tool) ?

Yes this is possible without using the Import wizard but its a lengthy process.
Its ok if you have only a fwe reports. For large number of reports it might not be feasible.
    Steps:
    On your dev environment:
Find out the path of the .wid file using the CMC.
On the basis of this path find and copy the .wid file.
Paste this file somehwre on your production machine.
Create a new Webi report in Production and save it.
Find out the path using CMC. - (A)
Copy the name of the .wid file.
Rename the file that you brought from dev to this file name.
Copy this renamed file and paste it on the path in step (A).
It would prompt you that there exist a file with the same name, hence say yes to replace the file.
Go to Infoview and open the report that you created and saved.
It will open up the report you brought from dev.
    Go to Edit Query.
Under the properties tab you would find an option to select Universe.
Repoint this report to the correct Universe.
This should work. Its a little complex but its the only solution if you dont't want to use Import Wizard.
    Thanks

  • BW patch 21 to 23: Web report export to Excel

    Hi,
We have applied the support packs 21 to 23 on our system (BW 3.0B). When we now export a web report to Excel, the characteristics values are missing in the report (no cost center or account number) and only the key figure values are displayed.
    Has anyone experienced that ?
    Thanks
    David
