Exporting Slideshows/syncing with music tracks

Hi all -
I'm having a problem where I've created a slideshow in Iphoto6 that's timed to a music track..it plays fine and is correctly timed when I play it as a slideshow in Iphoto, but once I export it as a Quicktime file, the timing is off by a few seconds. This creates a problem as the music hasn't ended yet, but the pics have. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to correct it?
I added a couple of more pics to the slideshow and changed the individual settings for a few slides to allow them to play longer and that worked, but it's frustating to create something that works perfectly and then have it off sync after the export.
Thanks for any help!
- Kamen

I have had this problem, too. It seems to shorten the duration of the slideshow so that the timing with the music is then off.
It seems to work fine when I don't use the "Ken Burns" effect, though. Has that been your experience?
I'll be interested to see if anyone else has a solution!
Carole

I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Have created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto, but every time that I try to export it to an iPhoto slideshow folder, it gets halfway through and freezes.  This has been going on for a couple of days.  I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference.  Any advice, please?

    Upgrade to v9.4.1 or
Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
There are two libraries where this plugin might be
    HD/ Library
    and
    HD/Users/Your Name / Library
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)

  • Exported slideshow to Quicktime, music now out of sync

Hello: I created a slideshow in iPhoto with music and transitions in sync, then exported it to Quicktime. When I play it in Quicktime, the music track is slightly out of sync with the slides. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I think that problem was fixed with 10.4.8 and the newest Quicktime version. Download and use the 10.4.8 COMBO updater as opposed the the Software Update method. I'd do the same with the Quicktime version. QT 7.1.3 is required if you need to access videos from the iTMS. Otherwise QuickTime 7.1.2 for Mac will suffice. It depends on your iTunes situation.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Sync Problem with Music tracks

Every-time I sync my iphone it uploads the same 61 tracks.
I have about 1000 tracks (60 Albums) on my iphone, but every-time I sync with my imac the same 61 tracks need to be 'Uploaded'. I have check the iphone after each sync and the tracks are there...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

No - I created a playlist (Bruce's iPhone playlist) and selected to sync this playlist only...
I have now taken the 6 albums affected off the playlist...Synced...Added them again, one by one....synced again and all seems fine.
One problem however was that I had two albums called 'Greatest Hits', and in coverflow it would show one, but when turned around it showed the other..

  • Best way to duplicate slideshow dvd with music

I have a DVD slideshow put to music made as a tribute.  What is the easiest way to make duplicate copies of this?  The audio is in one directory and the pictures in another directory.  Running MacBook Pro with 10.5.8 OS

Use the export button in the slideshow to create a video file of your slideshow. Copy it to an USB stick, and transfe it this way to the computers of your friends.

  • MIDI Drums not syncing with tempo track automation

I created some tempo changes, basically subtle speed-ups etc, worked fine, recorded guitars and bass, made a rough mix, all sounded great.
Now I go back to do more recording and editing, and the MIDI drums won't speed up with the automation, thus putting it out of sync with the audio tracks that have been recorded to it. I've restarted etc, no luck. Anyone have any ideas what could have happened?

Maybe your Drum Machine doesn't accept Logic as it's MIDI master in terms of sync. There can only be one MIDI clock master. By default, it's Logic. Look if you Drum machine is set to slave!
But i must admit i never worked the chapter through in the Manual, since i didn't need it before. So i recommend looking there as well.

  • Make picture bounce in sync with music

    http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-Make-Stuff-Bounce-to-Music---Motion-3-162040947
I need a step-by-step instruction on how to do this with After Effects or any Adobe software that you might recommend.
I've been browsing around the net and can't find a clear answer. The keyframes thingy are too complicated for me so I need a simple solution like the one in the video. I am using Windows 7 so I can't buy the Apple software. Can After Effects do this or should I use Premiere Pro? I'm relatively new at video and audio editing. I want the picture to bounce in sync with the drum beat or cymbals like every 4 seconds or so. Not only that, I want to control the direction to where it bounces to - upper left, upper right, center, etc.

If keyframes are too complex for you After Effects isn't your tool of choice. I've got 10 year old cub scouts that can use AE. I'd take the bull by the horns and dive into the basics by following this link.
Once you have a little more confidence you can run through a tutorial, any tutorial, on using Audio Keyframes. The procedure is very easy. It goes something like this:
Put the audio in the timeline.
Use Animate>Keyframe Assistant>Convert Audio to Keyframes to create a null named Audio Amplitude and effects sliders named Left, Right and Both
Put the image you want to control in the timeline and press S to reveal the scale property.
Alt click or Option click on the stopwatch to begin an expression.
Use the pickwhip to connect scale to the Both Channels slider.
Open up the graph editor, select the Audio Amplitude Both Channels Slider property to reveal he range of the levels you want to use for your animation.
In this case I want to use 25 to 60 so anything below 25 is 50% scale and anything above 40 is 100% scale
Modify the expression created in step 5 to look like this:
    temp = thisComp.layer("Audio Amplitude").effect("Both Channels")("Slider");
    s = ease(temp, 25, 40, 50, 100);
    [s, s]
    You're done.
Do a Google Search for Controlling a layer with audio in After Effects and you'll find dozens of tutorials.

  • Automatically syncing with music stored on external drive?

I most of my music on an external drive. The drive isn't always connected to the PC. Prior to iTunes 9.1 I could have iTunes automatically sync the music to my iPhone. If the external drive was disconnected iTunes would simply ignore the missing files and leave them on the phone.
With iTunes 9.1 (and 9.2) I now check the "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 Kbps AAC" option. When I first used this I found that if I synced my phone with the external drive disconnected, it would remove all the music files from the phone that were stored on the external drive and had been converted to 128 Kbps. That was extremely annoying to say the least so I set iTunes to sync manually to prevent that from happening. I read there was a bug in the original iTunes 9.1 that caused iTunes to always try and sync 128 Kbps converted files every time which could explain why they were being deleted, but I never tried again after upgrading.
Yesterday I clicked to sync books to my iPhone, not realizing that it would wipe out all music, movies and TV from my iPhone. Again very annoying. I went to manually sync them back and noticed my Genius mixes won't sync and I read that they only sync if auto-sync is enabled.
My question is, is there an easy way to keep my music files on an external drive, automatically, sync and have them covert to 128 Kbps without having to worry about all my music being wiped off the phone if the drive is disconnected at the time iPhone syncs?

I don't believe you can do that. The convert to 128 bit only converts the songs being written to the iPod. Every time you play a song it changes (the play count goes up) so iTunes is going to go try to find those and update them every time it syncs.
I am able to disconnect my external that holds my movies and the movies remain but those are not being converted. I think that is where the problem is.
    Good luck!

  • Comes with music tracks now downloading

    Hi,
I tried to download these a couple of weeks ago and I still cannot download them now.
    Pianorama the first three tracks.
    Improvisations of Rota's Themes
There are a couple of others from other albums  that look like they should download but don't.
If anyone from Nokia is looking and solves these I might try some others.
    Thanks,  Ed.

I have a Nokia 5310 and therefore  am downloading to my PC.
If I take the example of  Pianorama Improvisations on Rota's theme, when I try to download it, it goes to download, waits and then when you hover you mouse over the failed download it describes it and says there is a 404 error, cannot find it.
It does not matter how many times you try this track the same happens.
There are one or two Albums I think I have with missing tracks.
However, sometimes it does not work and you go back to it the next day and the track is there.

  • Syncing footage with music track issue in Premiere Pro CC

My experience with Premiere Pro is still limited to basic editing. Recently I've been asked to help out a friend to edit a music video. I've done this before in Final Cot Pro X but decided to switch due to the integration of Adobe CC.
The issue I am facing is that all footage that has been shot is delivered to me at 23.976 fps but with the audio playing faster. The audio track after importing is being played back at 29.97 fps and plays at normal speed.
The solution I have found so far is to slow down each clip to 80% so it matches the original audio track. This is not ideal I found out while editing, so it would be better to have each clip rendered to its original state of 29.97 fps.
After some more research I discovered that it is possible to re-render each clip to its original speed in After Effects, and even apply frame blending. Then import all back in Premiere Pro.
My question is if the road I am following here is the correct one.
    Thank you!

by reducing the speed in the timeline, i think it does the same thing as forcing interpret footage. the difference is by changing it in the bin before starting, you can change all clips at once. just make sure to set the sequence fps to the final output fps, not matching the changed fps of clips.  you can also right click the footage on the timeline and choose frame blend, but i think it ends up doing the same thing as the export option you are using. the difference on the timeline is you can see the frame blend while editing. AE is extremely slow and might not look any better, so where u are on deadline, forget about it.  so in premiere i think frame blend on vs off is your only real option to change the behavior of the slow-mo.
the slow mo trick is nice for music videos, but yeah, for best results the camera needs to be sped up with the song on set. then in post both are slowed back down, replacing the song/audio with the original song at normal speed. 23.976 or 29.97 are both acceptable in NTSC usa land.  23.976 has gotten alot of attention as the "film look" since it has more motion blur, while 29.97 has a cleaner video look. below are some numbers i found somewhere and kept. so if the final render fps is known, can choose the correct shooting fps for on set with matching sped up or slowed down music.  the italic values would be used to end up with sped up footage, while the Bold values would be used for slo-motion effect. i haven't used these but the numbers look right. he could have shot at 29.97(30) fps and slowed it down to 23.976 in post to get the 80% slow-mo.
For an NTSC/US, using a 24p timebase, for the following frame rates, adjust the song speed to:
12 fps: make song last 1.956x longer by stretching it to 51.1% speed
18 fps: make song last 1.333x longer by stretching it to 75.0% speed
20 fps: make song last 1.226x longer by stretching it to 81.6% speed
22 fps: make song last 1.067x longer by stretching it to 93.7% speed
26 fps: make song last 0.907x as long as normal; play it at 110.25% speed
30 fps: make song last 0.800x as long as normal; play it at 125% speed
32 fps: make song last 0.747x as long as normal; play it at 133.87% speed
36 fps: make song last 0.672x as long as normal; play it at 148.81% speed
48 fps: make song last 0.498x as long as normal; play it at 200.80% speed
60 fps: make song last 0.400x as long as normal; play it at 250.00% speed
For an NTSC/US,  using a 30p timebase, for the following frame rates, adjust the song speed to:
12 fps: make song last 2.445x longer by stretching it to 40.91% speed
18 fps: make song last 1.667x longer by stretching it to 60.00% speed
20 fps: make song last 1.533x longer by stretching it to 65.23% speed
22 fps: make song last 1.333x longer by stretching it to 75.01% speed
24 fps: make song last 1.250x as long as normal; play it at 80.00% speed
26 fps: make song last 1.134x as long as normal; play it at 88.22% speed
32 fps: make song last 0.933x as long as normal; play it at 107.14% speed
36 fps: make song last 0.840x as long as normal; play it at 119.05% speed
48 fps: make song last 0.622x as long as normal; play it at 160.73% speed
60 fps: make song last 0.500x as long as normal; play it at 200.00% speed

  • Keynote slideshow -? show music track

    Hello all,
I am a new user of Keynote, and found the program satisfactory until I was trying to burn my slideshow to DVD. As so many of you have experienced, my slideshow was without audio. I spoke to a young man at Apple, and he gave me a (tedious and time consuming) workaround - but it worked - and I was able to produce audio in Quicktime, but the music was slightly off. I am new to iMac and Apple software, and am used to working with a wonderful program "Photodex ProShow Gold/Producer." In their program, under the slides I am using, I am able to see my sound track, and adjust my slides/music to match the tempo/beat, as I choose. Is this possible is Keynote? Using, say, Imovie? Any suggestions? Keynote is a polished, and elegant program - I am just frustrated with the limitations I am experiencing. Applel should take a look at the Photodex site - and take notes.
    Thanks so much,
    Carrie

You can do the smallest size slideshow possible in Keynote, and then export low-med quality in quicktime. That really isn't too good of a solution though, since there is a loss of quality.

  • Keynote File Burned to iDVD - Slides no longer synced with Music

    Hi ....
I carefully prepared a keynote presentation where the slide timings and music were carefully synced and it all ended together ...
However ... after I send it to IDVD ... the slides now play faster than when I originally set them up in Keynote ... so the music goes on when the slides are over now. So it's no longer synced.
When i first "send to idvd" I use "fixed timing" because I just want the dvd to play automatically. With this option it asks for slide duration and build duration. Why is it doing this ? ... I have already done this in Keynote itself. I'm wondering if this is the source of the problem.
I checked the Quicktime file that is generated for iDVD to burn ... and it's the same thing there .. so it's somehow happening when exporting to Quicktime I guess ...
    Any ideas ....? Thanks ...

    Hi there ...
For anyone having a similar problem or is curious ... I managed to find a way to make sure that my audio and video sync.
I don't know if this is a bug in Keynote .. or whether i did something wrong .. but here is how I fixed it.
I added a voice recording over the slideshow. I didn't really want anyone narration ... but I noticed that with the recording selection that the stupid slide transition and build transition timings don't come up. So I just set the input volume at 0 in systems prefs ... ran the show recording nothing ... and when I exported it ... the soundtrack i had originally attached and the slide show was perfectly synced as it began in Keynote ..
    Whatever .....

  • Problems with music tracks on Video Ipod that worked fine on ipod mini

Just got a video ipod on Christmas. Have owned an ipod mini for two years.
Transferred music and playlists from Itunes Library into the new video ipod.
I'm finding that some of the audio tracks that played fine on the ipod mini are
experiencing problems on the Video ipod. The commonality among the problem tracks are that they were custom tracks I made through Final Cut Pro and exported out as AIFF's. I then used the "Convert to AAC" function in ITunes to change them to AAC before putting them on the ipod mini. Again, these all played fine on the ipod mini. These problem tracks also tend to be long....50 minutes or more...they're comedy albums transferred into Final Cut Pro from off-air VCR/DVR tapings and are one long track.
These same files, while AAC, have problems starting up on the video ipod,
freeze the display and menu controls for a few seconds, or won't play at all. Other normal tracks from CD's or the Itunes store are fine.
Any correction ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
