Exporting song as midi ...

when creating a song using vst instruments and exporting as a midi file...the midi file joins all tracks into a single channel midi file 0 , how can I export as a midi file type 1?  Thanks Guys

Should be clear after raiding this, I hope!
>>>Export MIDI regions as standard MIDI files You can export one or more MIDI regions as standard MIDI files, to play in another music application. If your project contains only MIDI regions, you can merge the regions and export the entire project as a MIDI file. Before exporting, you need to perform several steps to prepare the MIDI regions.
Because Standard MIDI file type 0 format files can only save a single MIDI region, you must also join MIDI regions you want to export as a MIDI file in file format 0. You can do this by selecting the regions and choosing Edit > Join (or use the Glue tool).
Prepare MIDI regions for export 1 Control-click the regions, then choose MIDI > Normalize Region Parameters from the shortcut menu.
2 Control-click the regions, then choose MIDI > Apply Quantization Destructively from the shortcut menu.
3 Convert any aliases to region copies by choosing Functions > Region Alias > Convert Alias to a Copy from the Tracks area menu bar (or use the Convert Alias to a Region Copy key command).
4 Convert all loops into regions by selecting the loops and choosing Convert > Convert Loops to Regions from the shortcut menu.
5 Convert all MIDI regions on each track into a continuous MIDI region by choosing Edit > Join > Regions per Tracks (or use the Join Regions per Tracks key command).
6 Insert all instrument MIDI settings as events by choosing Functions > Insert Instrument MIDI settings as Events from the Tracks area menu bar.
Export one or more MIDI regions as standard MIDI files 1 Select the MIDI regions to export.
2 Choose File > Export > Selection as MIDI File.
3 Choose the destination directory, enter a name, then click Save. The selected MIDI regions are saved as a Format 1 MIDI file.
Note:  If you're exporting MIDI files to use with a hardware sequencer, you may need to limit the filenames to an 8.3 character name; such as “proj0001.MID.”<<

  • Export File As MIDI - Tempo anomally

I score movies and write virtually everything in Logic using the various software instruments that come with the program, plus some others. But when I record in a studio I work in ProTools. In order to set up the sessions in ProTools I select Export File As MIDI and import the MIDI file into my ProTools session. This creates a bar and beat and a tempo structure that is the same as my Logic session with one strange anomally. This function creates a MIDI file whose tempo is 1/10,000th or 2/10,000 fater than the original. That is, if the original session were at 120 bpm the session created with the MIDI file will be at 120.0001. At first I thought this was a ProTools issue but the same thing occurs when I click on the file to open a Logic session.
I am not terribly concerned with the variance, as it would take 10,000 minutes (just under 7 days) for the sessions to be one beat off. But I am still confused as to why this would happen at all.
    Anyone have an answer?

So you're saying that a Logic session made at 120.0000 BPM, saved as a .mid file, and then re-opened in Logic will have a .0001 BPM tempo variation? Wow, weird-ee-ooooo!
As a test I did the following:
    1. Created a sequence in Logic @ 120.0000 BPM
    2. Exported it as a .mid file. Closed the Logic song.
    3. dbl-clicked on the .mid file and Logic opened it, tempo = 120.0000
    So... a few questions:
    a) What version of Logic are you running?
    b) Do you work at any particular frame rate? If so, what is it?
    c) Can you confirm that the frame rate of your Logic sessions match that of your PT sessions?
    Might be grasping at straws...

  • How can I export songs from my iTunes to a mail program or laptop?

How can I export songs from my iTunes to a mail program/computer? The songs in question are originals composed by my boyfriend in Garage Band. We have full rights to them, but they import into iTunes like all the other artists songs. His hard drive crashed and I have the only copies. I have no access to my iMac for 2 months while we tour our show and we need them on the tour. We are in dire straights if we can not access these songs and the iPad will not hook up to our equipment. Plus we need to add a track to a promotional video. So how can we access our own music?
    Thanks.

If they are in the iPad's Music app then the only way to get them out of it is by connecting the iPad to a computer. As they aren't iTunes purchases you won't be able to copy them back to a computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, instead you will need a third-party program on the computer to copy them off - there are some listed half-way down this page which should work: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

Are you starting jackd in realtime mode? If not, maybe that's what causes Hydrogen zombification. You could try to start jack manually beforehand, for example via qjackctl.
I can offer what works for me, maybe you want to try to replicate my setup.
I'm using hydrogen 0.9.5.1-4 and jack2 1.9.9.5-4. I start jackd via qjackctl 0.3.11-1 with the following setup:
    Generated command line:
    /usr/bin/jackd -P80 -p128 -t4000 -dalsa -dhw:0 -r48000 -p256 -n2 -Xseq
I'm not using a realtime kernel, just stock Arch Linux, right now linux 3.12.7-1 (haven't updated yet to 3.12.7-2).
Aside from all that, you can get great help for Linux audio issues at linuxmusicians.com, lots of knowledgable folks there.

  • "Export selection as MIDI file" problem...

Hi, i'm having some trouble when exporting my MIDI tracks to MIDI files. I select File, Export, Export selection as MIDI file and when i listen to the midi file, it's the same rhythm pattern but the instrument is a piano instead of the instrument it was originally.
What the ****'s wrong! am i doing something wrong? I'd be really grateful if someone could solve this for me as i don't have a lot of time, it's for a college assignment!

You're not doing anything wrong......if you are using Quicktime to preview the exported MIDI file the piano is from the Quicktime Synthesizer....

  • Troubles Exporting Song List

Here's my situation, I want to export my song list and I have songs with Chinese words in them. I could do it before, it appeared as if iTunes saved the .txt files in Unicode, but now I can't get it to work. All that shows up are question marks where the chinese words are, which means iTunes has reverted to saving in ANSI. Does anyone know how to fix this or have a work around so I can see the song list with the chinese words? Thank you very much to anyone who helps out!

I upgraded iTunes from 6.0.2.23 to 6.0.4.2 and the Unicode option disappeared. I am not sure if that is the cause though. I have successively tried going back to 6.0.2.23, 6.0.1.3, 6.0.0.18, and 5.0.1.x, in that order, without success. I can still view old Unicode exported song list in Notepad, so the XP OS seems ok, I just can't make new Unicode export list. Do Apple engineers read these forums? Can a kind engineer please help?

  • "Export Song to Disk" will not create file

So, I've been trying to bounce my GarageBand song for a few days now using the Share>Export Song to Disk option and nothing ever comes out. I uncheck "Compress" and I save it to my desktop, it completes the mixdown and normalizes the track and completes but when I check my desktop, there is nothing there. The project itself is 71.8 MB in size. I have already deleted the com.apple.garageband.plist file from my library but it did not help. Any ideas?

Make sure the file name isn't too long. There's a known glitch where project names longer than around 28 or so characters won't export to disk. That's the only thing I can think of.
Also it won't be on your desktop unless you choose that location when exporting.

  • Exports songs from iphone to itune

  • Export songs in an iTunes playlist

I would like to burn MP3 CDs to listen in my car. The songs that I like to listen are mostly in the playlists in my iTunes library, in which all my songs are in AIFF format. I can certainly convert the format of the songs to MP3, then how do I organize those converted MP3 songs with artist-alburm-title and, when reached around 700MB, burn into a CD? After conversion in iTunes, the MP3 songs are scattered in various folders, and manually find all of them is very inconvenient.
Alternatively, is there a way to export all the songs in a playlist to another place in my hard disk (out of iTunes folder), while preserve the ID3 tag in each song? Then I can use MAX to convert them to MP3.
    Thanks much for your time.

Good idea! However what I would like to achieve is to organize the MP3 songs in an artist-alburm-title folder structure so that when I listen in my car, I can easily navigate through the hundreds of songs on the 700MB CD. The little software iTunesExport does a nice job to extract songs from my iTunes playlist and export to another place in my hard drive and "retain iTunes structure", i.e. preserve the artist-alburm-title folder structure of those songs. Then I use Max to convert those songs (still in AIFF format) to MP3. Max also preserve the folder structure. It's a two step solution. I wish I could find a way to do this in one step - export songs in my iTunes playlist as MP3 to another place in my hard drive (or CD directly) while preserving the artist-alburm-title folder structure.

  • Exporting songs to new computer

I just purchased a new laptop, and at a minimum I want to be able to convert the songs I purchased on iTunes to my new laptop.
How do you export songs on old computer, and import into the iTunes on new computer?
When I try to transfer, I get the error message "Some of the purchased items in the iPod could not be transferred to your iTunes library because you are not authorized to play them on this computer. To authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store, chose Store > Authorized Computer."
This continues to occur even after I authorize the computer.

First off, you say you purchased a 5th gen. iPod. Since the latest version is the clip-on 6th gen., I wonder if that's what you mean, or did you get a used (or old, but never used) 5th gen.? You might also check the OS requirements for the iPod you have, and see if the version of iTunes is compatible with your OS. I had to upgrade my OS to go from my old Classic 160 to a new Nano 6th gen.
As you have guessed, the exclamation mark means that even though you have a particular song in your iTunes library, the file that it points to is no longer where iTunes thinks it should be. This may be because iTunes is confused (in which case you would resolve the confusion), or it's gone (in which case you need to get a new copy, or remove the song from iTunes if you don't want to keep it). I'm not a Windows guy, and I'm not at my home computer where I can try this out, but if I remember correctly, you can have iTunes gather all the music files on your computer and move them (or copy them) to the place where iTunes expects them to be. On a Mac, that's HD>Users>My User Name>Music>iTunes>iTunes Music. If you don't want to let iTunes do that, you can move all the music files you find to that folder yourself.
Once all the music is there, you can delete the songs from iTunes and import them again (directing iTunes to the folder you just gathered. Make sure you are signed into your iTunes account (in the Store pull-down window—not the Store tab on the left). Songs from the iTunes store can be downloaded again (if you don't have them anymore), provided you are signed in. If a store purchase is on one of your iPods, but not in iTunes, iTunes can detect and download those again, but the limit for devices is 5, so don't waste them if you don't need to.
More detailed info can be found in the manuals (download here).

  • How do I EXPORT songs from iPhone to iMac?

Trying to free up space on iPhone by exporting songs BACK to iMac iTunes Library.

If you have the songs already in your iTunes library, just delete them from your phone.
You can't move music from an iPhone to iTunes.  Only from iTunes to an iDevice.  Apple requires this to keep people from sharing music.
Any song you purchased from iTunes will be available to download again later.
