Exporting TIFFs and preserving date

Hello,
Almost all the photos in my iPhoto library are JPEG. I now have some that are TIFF. On those files, I adjusted the date and time, being sure to check the box to modify the original files as well. But when I export these photos -- as original, current, or JPEG, or via drag-and-drop -- the dates I've set are not preserved, and importing them into another iPhoto library will recognize only the time the images were created.
I've never had this problem with my JPEG photos. Is there a way to preserve this metadata with the TIFF files?
Any help would be much appreciated!

The simple answer is "there should be" but you seem to have discovered a bug with the handling of tiffs.

  • Any way to export videos and preserve the original creation date?

I recently shot video using an NEX-5N and AVCHD as the format. Since Aperture cannot playback this format, I converted the videos using Handbrake to mp4 (H.264), and then used A Better Finder to change the creation date of the converted file back to the same date as the original file.
Importing this converted file into Aperture works great, and the imported file shows the correct metadata of the original creation date, not the date of the conversion.
But when exporting this file from Aperture, it seems like Aperture does not embed the date as metadata, and thus the only date associated with the exported video is the file-system date attached to the file, which will of course be the date of the export.
I assume this problem applies to ANY video imported into Aperture, not just those that have been converted.
Does anyone have a method for exporting video and having the original creation date remain?  This is obviously a problem when exporting videos one-by-one, but would be a bigger problem if I ever wanted to export my entire video library from Aperture into another program...all the video files would have the same date!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

EXIF data and video files is even more of a gray area then EXIF data and stills.
I don't do much video in Aperture so I'll take your word for it that the data isn;t imbedded into the file. In that case the best I can see is to create a custom export preset and  include the Image Date in the filename. Not great but you at least have the data and you might be able to have a script use the date from the filename and somehow add it back into the file.

  • Can't export MXF and preserve metadata

I want to take a file from the bin, export from MXF to QT, and preserve the  metadata. Oddly, there seems to be no workflow in Adobe capable of doing this.
I can't import the MXF straight into AME, because it's from the C300 which splits up the clips into 2 GB chunks, which only Premiere Pro seems capable of rejoining.
I can't send the MXF straight to AME from the Premiere Pro bin, which would be a nice functionality, but sadly, it seems I have to send it from a sequence, but...
I can't send the MXF to AME from a sequence, because then all the metadata from the clip is lost.
I can't modify the metadata in the export dialog, because timecode box is greyed out and zeroed...
    Any suggestions?

Aha! I found that I can export from the source monitor instead of the timeline, which preserves all the metadata.

  • Trying to export x and y data points into excel

    Hi guys,
I'm in a bit of a time crunch and I've been trying to figure a simple issue out.  I've been trying to export the x and y data points into an excel file.  I thought trying to use a property node would work but I've been tinkering with different subsets of the specific property nodes without any success.  The current issue I'm having right now is that the current way I have the data points into the excel file is incorrect because it's not including the x axis data points.  Additionally, I have thousands of data points that really slows things down.  I have attached the vi.  Thanks.

  • Converting raw files into tiffs and preserving the orig. date created

How do I get the original date created to show up in folders when converting raw files into tiffs?  Once converted the original date created is in the "file info" window but does not show up as the original date created in the designated folder.  It is displayed as the same date as date modified.

    Thanks Mylenium
As Mylenium has said, this information can be added later by various means. It will also depend on the software you are using on what date it is reading!
    As an example there are:
    The files date created
    Photoshop schema DateCreated
    EXIF schema DateTimeOriginal
    XMP schema CreateDate
For an external tool you can use ExifTool http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
or you could try to get a script written in the Photoshop or Bridge scripting forums.

  • Export Material and Price Data with IDOC or BAPI?

    Hi SAP Experts,
I found two ways to implement a Master Material and Price Export to an external system, first with IDOC MATMAS01 and Idoc COND_A with an enhancement VKOE0001 PRICING CONDITION.
Here I don't know how I can match a material with tht sales price?
And the second one with the BAPI. But how I create a BAPI for Material and Sales Price?
And which is the better way?
    Thanks and Bye,
    Frederic

    Amit,
it seems that the FU BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA is only for Create and Change Material Master Data. Is that correct?
I've following Use Case, I will send e.g. one Material with the sales price to an external system (later all material with their sales price). And for that case I'm searching for a solution. Can you bring me on the correct way to implement something like that.
I would be very pleased if you can help me.
    Bye,
    Frederic

  • Problems with Importing / Exporting Keywords and Meta Datas

    Hi to all!
I recently upgraded to Aperture 3 and upgraded my referenced library.
Today I opened the Keyword HUD and noticed some keywords splattered in my list, which seem to be any older ones, since the new numbering indicated that they are not applied to any pictures.
    So I deleted them.
Than I noticed the <Imported Keywords> folder, opened it, and it contained also a large number of previous keywords. Also they seemed not to be in use, so I also removed them.
Than I locked the Keyword HUD.
Now my question: If I export a version, with the option for 'include metadata' ticked, and edit the version than in Photoshop, and after it, import it back into the Aperture library I do have the problem.
I have tried 'Import Meta Datas' and and click 'Append'. Than it is recognizing the former keywords, which I would appreciate, but not as 'Imported Keywords'.
If I would open the file w/ the External Editor and return it back, I guess I would not have this problem. Usually I do open the referenced RAW file, and import than the edited version back into Aperture. Keywords are stored in the Library, so I would not avail the former given keywords than, is that right?
By the way are the keywords part of Meta Datas or not?
    Are there any workarounds?
And had other people also problems with their keyword list after upgrading?
Thank for any ideas / infos!
    Michael

  • Exporting YTD and PERIODIC data

    Hi all,
I've adjusted a data manager package so that the YTD and PERIODIC measures are automatically selected for export to a flat file. Whenever I want to save the package the script automatically changes and removes either YTD or PERIODIC.
Any idea how I can change the script so that both YTD and PERIODIC measures are exported to a flat file?
    Thank you.

Should I just break down and buy server space to exchange complete files?
This the way I do with my co-work production or when work in a team with guys who live out of my country. You can pack/archive the whole project folder into Zip or (Rar - I do that using my PC) which reduces the project folder content globally.
There are quite many "free hosts" in our days so you can manage your work via Email or Skype and use such servers if you can not afford to buy any hosting space. To my opinion it is best to provide the original project when you use same apps, plugins etc. Any tricky export, audio file compression etc will be time consuming for your partner...

  • Exporting tiff and jpg together problems  Lightroom 3.1 w/ Adobe Leopard

When both are exported w/ writing a CD: makes corrupt file some do not open and some no thumbnails...on Mac Powerbook and Macbook

Well known problem in Leopard. It trips up on some metadata that Lightroom writes to the files. This is a bug that Apple introduced late in the leopard development, but that they still have not fixed. You should only come across the bug if you write the originals, not if you export new versions of the file.

  • Exporting Contact and Calendar Data

Help, My son son recently upgraded and passed me his 3G phone. He has asked if I can export his contacts information to something like a csv file. I have no idea how to do this (and neither has he) so can anyone help please.

My Calendar and Contact info was intact. All email archives were lost (no big deal since all are in the MacBook anyway) and my default ring tone was changed.
    Otherwise, so far so good.
Suggestion: Look in iTunes in your PC and see if the contact info is there; if so, try a resync.

  • Can I "re-import" missing photos and preserve date (rebuild didn't work)

I have the photos on my hard drive but they have mysteriously disappeared from my thumbnail library. When I try to import it by dragging from the Originals folder it says the "file is already in the iPhoto Library folder).

iPhoto will not permit importing any photos from within it's library folder. Try downloading and run iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library. It often succeeds where the conventional rebuild fails. It creates a whole new iPhoto Library folder named as you see fit. So if it corrects your problem you can delete the original folder.

  • Trouble maintaining original "date taken" info and metadata when exporting TIFFs from original CR2 files.

When exporting TIFFs (from original RAW), I noticed my metadata said the "date created" was the day of export. I want to be able to access the date the original image was taken as opposed to the day I exported it. Is there a way to maintain original date of image taken in my info? I couldn't seem to find it after I exported my TIFFs...

I just tested this with LR 5.5 Mac OS 10.9.3 and it works correctly for me.
    To troubleshoot your problem:
    1. Which version of LR and which platform (Mac, Windows)?
    2. Which tool or command are you using to examine Date Created of the exported TIFF?
    3. Upload a sample TIFF showing the problem to Dropbox or similar and post the URL here. This will allow us to take a look in detail.

  • How to import photos from Mail to iPhoto and preserve the date created?

I have several photos sent to me via email attachments in Mail which I want to "add to iphoto."  When I do this, the original date of the photo changes to "today's date."
When I drag the photo to the desk top, the file (photo) properties change and the date changes to "today's date."
Is there a way to import photos and preserve the original date the photo was taken?  For example,  if my family finally got around to sending me photos from 4th of July, I know the date is 7/4/2012, not today's date, 10/9/2012.
I want to avoid the time/work of doing batch changes on countless photos I want to add to iphoto.
    iphoto 11
    mail 5.3
    Lion 10.7.5

    Larry, I need more information...
Using what you said, I ran some tests using photos taken with my digital camera in iPhoto.  My photos show the following information in the "information" sidebar:
    •type of camera
    •Flash on
    •Format size
    •File size (MB)
    •File type (jpeg)
    •Frame "number"
    •Month/day/year/hour/min/sec/AM-PM
Then I tried to email a photo to myself:  I have tried:  "share," "attach," "drag/drop" a photo into email and sent it to myself as a test.  Once the photo arrives in my Mail inbox, I have tried various ways to add this "test" photo into iPhoto:
    "Add to iphoto"
    "drag into iphoto"
    "export into iphoto"
Each time, iphoto created the photo with "today's date."  In the past, I would get an alert:  Photo already exists in iphoto, do you still want to import?  Duplicate or Cancel
Can you elaborate on, "if the photo properties are present and correctly formatted then iPhoto uses them."
When I drag a photo to the desktop and double-click to preview the photo, the top of the preview window says:
P1009.jpg -- locked (gray lettering of the word "locked")
Is there a setting I need to change to "unlock" the properties of my photos?*
    Thanks!!
    MG
*My original post focuses on importing photos sent from other people.  I am hoping if I can solve the matter with my own photos, other photos will import with original dates created, too.
