Exporting Timeline Information

Is there anyway to export the FCP timeline cuts. transition, takes, etc to a text file? In other words, I need some sort of text file of what takes where used in the right order. I run FCP 6 and I am getting a 7 file. and in case the XML FCP 7 file won't open in 6, I would like to recreate the timeline quickly knowing what takes were used. Some people are having problems opening XML FCP 7 files in 6.
Any way of doing that?

kind of. It's called an EDL or edit decision list and it's an export option. It's not particularly intuitive so you should expect some heavy sledding for a while. And it will only contain the information that is compatible with online edit controllers, basically, timecode ins and outs, source reels andsimple transition effects. It will not be of any use for shots that do not have a reel source, i.e. material that was not captured with device control. You can add source reels to most clips BEFORE you do the export and they will probably show up in an edl.

Export collected information to word in a specific formate

Is it possible to take the information collected and export it to word with only the responsies and not the questions.

I guess what i am needing to do is take the information collected and put it into a work doc that will allow me to edit the information. Lets say a resume for example someone fills the information out, then i take that information and put it into a doc that will allow me make changes to there answers. but i am not wanting to have to copy and paste the information from one place to another if i can just have it export specific information in a specific way. I guess i would say either html and php or something along those lines.

How to export timeline sequence to .vob in premiere cs4?

I am new to premiere cs4,
earlier i used premire 6.5 for video editing.
in premiere 6.5 for exporting video i had used procoder 2.0
after procoder instalation it comes as plug in premiere 6.5 by using procoder i can export timeline as my desired video format.
but now this procoder is not working in premiere cs4
after i installed procoder it is not showing in premiere cs4.
i tried export option in premiere cs4 but it has no .vob option for export
now how can i export timeline sequence as .vob file and
how can i work with procoder in premiere cs4? is there any chance to install procoder in premiere cs4?

I agree with John T. Normally, the creation of a VOB (Video Object) container is done in an authoring app., like Adobe Encore, which he mentioned. Up through Premiere Pro 2.0, there were limited authoring capabilities, built in. However, with PrPro CS 3, those were removed, and all authoring functions were provided with Encore, which has shipped with PrPro, ever since.
Now, the VOB is just a container. It will have mostly the MPEG-2 DVD AV file, which can span several VOB's, which are only ~1GB in size. The first VOB might also contain the DVD Menus, and navigation instructions, all of which can only be ~ 1GB. If those elements are less, then the first part of the MPEG-2 DVD AV file will be in there also.
While I do not know one, there are probably utilities available, that can wrap an MPEG-2 DVD AV file into a VOB. Still, you have Adobe Encore, and it can do that, plus a whole lot more, so just finding a program to wrap the MPEG is likely a waste of time, unless you have other, very specific needs.
To utilize Encore, you have basically three ways (as of PrPro CS 3 and up) to accomplish that:
You can use ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) to Import your Sequences/Timelines directly to Encore.
You can Export a DV AVI file, then Import that into Encore.
You can Export an MPEG-2 DVD file, then Import that into Encore.
Good luck, and if you do have some other, specific needs for the VOB container, let us know, as someone might have suggestions for that.

Export Clip information for Log Sheet

Has anyone tried to export Clip information into excel? In FCP7 I'd export a Batch List and then import into excel. We have over 2,000 clips logged into CS6 and would like the information in an outside document for our director and assistant editors.

Can't export timeline as a Windows Media file anymore.

Using Premiere 5.0.3 for over 2 yrs now. No problems until now. I first export my 30 min. timeline as a H.264 file as a master. No problem. Then I would export my timeline as a Windows Media file (NTSC Widescreen) for easier viewing on other computers. Again, no problem - until last week. Each time I try to export now as a WMV file, it takes the usual over an hour to do the conversion, but then when I look at the file information after it's completed, instead of the approx. 400 Mb file size, it will be some other smaller file size anywhere from 4 Mb to 217 Mb. Everytime I try to export again, (and waiting again over an hour each time for the conversion to complete), the file size will be something considerably less than it should be and different each time...but the time will always be what the video should be - approx. 30 min. If I view the video, it will abrutly end corresponding to the file size, IE - if the file size is 200 Mb, the video stops at about 15 min. What happened? Nothing changed in my computer. No new program was added. No settings were changed...and my editing computer is not connected to the Internet so as to avoid any possible contaminaton from outside sources.

I never suspected anything wrong with the hard drive or any corresponding components because the drive worked fine otherwise - playing back clips already on it, transferring files from one drive to another, etc. At any rate, I opened up the computer case and swapped out the SATA cable to that drive (I have lots of spares of everything) and then did a defrag and check of the drive which all showed good. I then exported a couple more videos in the WMV format to that drive and everything worked fine, so hopefully all is good from now on.

Is it possible to export all information (metadata, list of pictures within each album or project) about ALL pictures in Aperture to text files, in a single operation?

I have downloaded a trial version of Aperture because I would like to switch from using Picasa and gimp to using Aperture. I already know that I want to use Aperture, and that I cannot learn how in 30 days. I want to use the 30 days to see if I can solve a different problem: bulk export of all information except edits and versions from Aperture.
I want to avoid locking information (other than than the edits and version information that Aperture maintains) about my photos into any one piece of software.
Picasa stores a copy of almost all its information in text filies (mostly XML or .ini format) that are scattered through its picture library. These files can be scanned and found by use of Mac OS X tools that are availabe in Terminal (at the bash command line). All of the information about albums, faces, etc can be exported by a single command (after wtiting the progams that the command will initiate. I have not yest found any similar files in Aperture.
Aperture supports the export of EXIF and IPTC metadata, but only for selected photos, and does not appear to support the export of other information at all.
What I would like to do with a single operation, from either Aperture or Terminal, is to export the entire arrangement of phost ins albums and projects, lists of albums, projects and phots with all metadata (including added keywords) attached to each, and for referenced photos, the external file name. I do not care if would be in one file or many different text files, because Mac OS X provides all the tools I would need to extract the information I would want from any number of text files.
This would allow me to reconstruct all of the information about my photos (except for edits and versions) outside Aperture, and to use that info in a database outside Aperture. I would then be able to use Aperture while still being able to do everything that I could do with Picasa.
The most helpful form of an answer to this question might be a list of places to look in the Apple support and Apple developer documentation. It is difficult to teach me anything complicated, but I am fairly good at figuring out things from documentation.

The following script recursively lists the content of an Aperture library. The output is simple, for demonstration puposes, but could be modified to XML. If the XML were that of a PLIST, the Apple Property List viewer oculd be used to diaplsy the output.
A simlar script produces all of the keywords and tags for all of the images in Aperture.
The scripts run much faster in the shell than in the AppleScript Editor bcause the shwll produces no debugging or monitoring information.

10.0.9 Unable to Export Timeline

I'm seeing a lot of discussion over this and have searched the forum. No definitive answer so I am reposting here.
Problem: If I try to export aka "share" my timeline FCPX will crash at some point. I have gotten then Error 1 message with an offending frame value but most of the time it just stalls and I get the spinning wheel. Shortly after this the computer will lock up (not kernel panic just all applications and Finder freeze - and cannot force quit) and I then have to manually restart the machine by holding down the power button.
I have had this issue on MULTIPLE projects using different media from MULTIPLE cameras, all of the Canon 5Dmk2/mk3 and 7D variety. The projects all use mulitcam clips created in the latest version of Plural Eyes 3.
I am running FCPX 10.0.9 under OS 10.8.5. All projects running off of firewire 800 drives. I have not updated to Mavericks yet as it appears this does not solve the problem. I have a MBP 3.06ghz intel core 2 duo with 8GB RAM and GPU enabled, not the neweset machine but works just fine for editing even without proxy media.
I am not using any proxy media.
I have deleted all render files.
I have trashed prefs.
I have repaired disk permission.
I have created a new user account.
I have reinstalled FCPX.
I have checked for updates - there are no updates besides the new OS, FCPX and QT ProApp Codecs are up to date.
I have copy/pasted my project into a new project.
I have duplicated my project and events to a fresh drive.
I have hidden unused projects and events.
I have tried exporting using different codecs ProRes 422, 422 HQ, H264 etc. they all fail though at different points it seems.
**The only thing I have noticed that works is that if I go to a DIFFERENT MACHINE - either my iMac at the office or my friends MBP it renders out without any problem...** I cannot figure out what would be different about my machine after doing all of the above!
So, I am able to create and edit on the timeline but render it out on this machine. It will also crash when I try to "render all" on the timeline. The video is only 5 minutes long and contains no type or motion effects. No third party plugins are being used on the timeline.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I have not done a witch hunt for bad frames as some suggest with ther error 1 message because I only have seen that message once and from what I am finding on the forums it doesn't seem to help much anyways and the issue seems to widespread. I am reluctant to update to Mavericks becuase I have not seen that it will solve the problem, just introduce "app nap" and possibly other issues.
Again I've tried about EVERYTHING as you can see and need to get this project off to the client, please if you have read the above and have any insight it would be massively appreciated.

When I asked about codecs I was thinking of conflicts that FCP might have with one that would have been installed from a third party vendor…
It would seem to be something at the system level since all the user-specific fixes appear to have had no effect. And you've already tried a comprehensive list of the suggestions that I would have thought of…and probably more.
You didn't mention available disk space but I assume you checked that as well and you have at least 15% free on your start-up and media drives.
Has any version of FCPX performed for you as expected in the past?
When you uninstalled the app, by any chance did you use FCS Remover? If you didn't, give it a try.

Premiere does not export timeline... Urgent!

Hi there,
I just came back from grading with my 40 minutes film.
They gave me a 4K 10bit DPX sequence.
I dropped in into my timeline, added some effects and want to export the film with audio now.
Unfortunately Premiere and Media Encoder do not export the film.
I can't even render the timeline with the command "Render Timeline".
I'm on the latest Premiere CC on Windows 7 Professional.

Every time I tried to export the timeline Premiere started rendering audio clips.
I had about 200 seperate audio files spread across the timeline.
After the audio rendering was done Premiere wouldn't start with the video. It just stuck at 0 percent.
I just made a copy of my project and deleted all the audio files from the timeline.
Now premiere is rendering and exporting without any problems.
I might have to merge the audio channels into one file and then put it all together.

How do I save or export timelines as .swf files from Photoshop CS6?

I previously created timelines in Photoshop, somehow, but quite easily I seem to remember, I saved OR exported the files as .swf files. I can't remember how, can someone suggest something please?

Exporting timeline...

Hi,
I always like to be here and read other's issues, fixes, suggestions, tips and ideas. Great!!! and really like it.
As I'm a newbie who moved to Mac from painful Windows recently, I might be asking fundamental questions now and then. So, please bear with me. So, here is my question:
1. Say for example, I'm exporting FCP timeline (the timeline is not just straight cuts. It has multiple transitions, effects, filters etc). Now, my dilemma is this: If I export the timeline as a QT self contained movie file, will there be a generation loss of any kind as I'm again recreating all my clips + other stuff (transitions, effect, filters etc) to a QT self contained .MOV file?
Secondly, what happens to the clips with transitions, effects, filters? Aren't those rendered by Compressor?
I will then import the resulting QT movie file into a external encoder (Compressor, BitVice etc).
2. If I go for a QT. ref file, apart from the file size, how different is it when compared to QT. self contained movie?
3. Finally, when exporting can I strip the video from the audio as I may encode the audio as a DD/DTS file. My target is always DVD.
I already asked this question on some other thread but unfortunately, nobody really answered my question.

FCP is using FCP to render. When you export from FCP as a self contained file, all you are doing really is COPYING all the data from the timeline to a self contained QT file. If there is stuff not rendered, then FCP renders it before it exports. That self contained QT file has the exact same resolution as your timeline, only it is one file instead of many.
Compressor only comes into play when you choose EXPORT via COMPRESSOR, or if you open COMPRESSOR directly.

Batch Export Timeline Clips?

I have over 100 separate physician interviews in need of web export. I have created sequences (timelines) labeled Day1, Day2, etc... with 5-10 separate interviews on each timeline.
I am now needing to export these to a web capable format..
I have scoured the web for a solution to a batch export option, and so far, no luck..
I can't be asking too much from final cut, right?
Specs:
Final Cut Pro 6
Canon 7d H264 (1080, 30fps)

Select the Sequences in the Browser and goto File>Batch Export
Select desired format etc for Export.

Export Customized Information Attributes from EP6 to EP7

Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to migrate User Admin customized information fields from EP6 SP17 to 7 EhP1 SP7? The standard portal user export functionality only collects the standard fields and ignores the custom attributes.
Does anyone have an idea on how this task can be achieved???

OMPLUS Export security information

On the export Advanced tab there is an option to export additional security information.
Its purpose - Select this option to include security information such as object privileges or role assignments made to users.
Is it possible to do this via OMBPLUS if so what is the command?

Hello Geri, Currently, Planning 3.5.1 does not have any utility to export security out of planning. What you can do is this that generated PDF files through the application itself and then convert it in to text files and so on to load security via importsecurity.exe. Thanks, Scorpio

I can't figure out how to export the information files I have created with the photos in iphoto. any help?

Is there a way to export files created for photos? I seem to have no problem exporting photos but the information I have about them cannot be found in teh exported version.

There is no way to do that. Later versions of iPhoto can export with all the metadata written to the IPTC and Exif metadata.
