Exporting to 16:9 for internet

Hi, I've shot some footage in 16:9 and when I export it as a DV Stream its playing in QT as 16:9 fine.
However when I export it for internet as H.264 and I change the size of the video to PAL 720 x 576 16:9, when it's played back in QT it comes through as 4:3.
Can anyone help me on this?

Yes I've seen someone elses videos in that format on there. I'm not even getting to the stage of loading it up to Facebook as when I play it back in Quicktime Player its in the 4:3 format so I don't even bother.
I've tried it the way you have said Tom and I can't get it in widescreen. It's fine when I export as a DV stream, but thats not suitable for uploading to the net as the files are generally too big.

I have QuickTime Pro 7 with the mpeg-2 playback component. My source files are in a DVD movie. I am able to play the DVD fine in Windows Media player and Real Media Player, but Quicktime is able to play only the video and there is no audio output. My objective is to convert the DVD mpeg-2 muxed videos to quicktime .mov files that are prepared for progressive playback (web streaming: fast start).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How can I export 1080i in best possible quality for internet streaming?

Sorry, I'm not too knowledgeable about this but I have Final Cut 6.0.4 and use/captured in HD-1080i. What's the best possible way to export this in great quality for internet streaming? What dimensions should I use? Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you!

ok i used h.264 main profile with 10 mbps and i am using multipass and size is 1280x720. i tried 24 and 30 key frames. quality is still lower
iv been experimenting on a 1.5 minute video to save time. I imported the project from imovie into fcpx and changed nothing. looking at the file that was created by imovie for the same video it is 1280x720 and uses codecs h.264 and aac the file size is 115 mb the extension is .mov and the color profile is HD (1-1-1) and total bitrate is 10,512 kbps. and the quality is the minimum acceptable for me.
The file i created using your settings above in compressor 4 is 118 mb and of lower quality. codecs used are h.264, aac, and Hint (not sure what hint is but noticed it isn't used with the .mov file) color prile is the same as above. total bitrate is 10,405 kbps.
Im not arguing that compressor 4 should be able to surpass imovie but so far i have only been able to do it by making the file size rediculous (>50 gb for 30 minutes). I created a movie that was recorded with the same camera (25 mbps) 1080p 1920x1080. imovie made this 40 minute video just under 3 gb and with the same quality as the movie i am experimenting with.
There is a differnce between theory and practice. SO FAR THE RESULTS I AM SEEING IS THAT IMOVIE IS SUPERIOR IN QUALITY TO SIZE RATIO. imovie has very few options but the hd setting has surpassed what i have been able to do with fcpx.
i am willing to try any settings that anyone sugests.
personally i think i will try to export the movie at max quality then take the super large file to my windows laptop and convert to avi. as in the past i have had much success with that format using divx. i realize that that is not the best method but i don't really want to spend hours re editing this video with imovie since the source footage is about 10 hours.

BEST SETTINGS FOR INTERNET STREAMING?

I have been trying for days to make a video of a very specific size (580x326) work with internet streaming. Im exporting with quicktime, however i cant seem to post under quicktime, so im posting here as i have final cut pro as well.
Please tell me the best setting to export a video for internet streaming (preferably through quicktime 7).

You do understand that "personal opinion" about compression settings massively depend on the type of footage you are dealing with, delivery target, length, desired output file size, client standard and demand and so on.
However, sounds like you want to get a suggestion to get started... start from here:
frame rate:current
bit rate: 1650k/bits
frame size: 720x405 (yes, a bit bigger and better)
audio: ACC 44.100
target bit rate: 128 kbps
Prepare for Internet Streaming: Fast Start
Set an IN and OUT point to select a portion of you project (this works in both FCP and Compressor) and compress that portion to check out result. Remember:
the higher the video bit rate the better the video should look but the bigger the file size gets.
Ultimately trust your eyes and ears.

Vrf for Internet Access

Hello,
i'd like to configure a dedicated vrf for Internet access only. On my CE router i configured three vrf (Internet, red and blue) in the vrf internet i import the route target from blue and red, and the vrf blue and red i import only the default route. Everything is working fine, only one thing bothers me, i can ping from the vrf red destinations in the vrf blue and vice versa. How can i prevent this routing?

Given the FW is the next hop for the default route, the traffic from one vrf to the other goes through the FW and get routed back to the CE and then to the respective vrf router. You could add the rules on the FW to prevent
traffic being routed between FW.

Mpeg-2 compression for internet

I'm trying to compress my 3min. 45 sec. video using compressor, into a mpeg-2 file that has to be less than 6MB. Using quicktime conversion out of FCP5 I can get a great mpeg-4 file of that size, but my PC won't play it so I'm guessing that other people will have the same problem, when they try to view it on my webpage. Since FCP5 does not export as mpeg-2, I am having to use compressor, but I cannot figure out how to get the file size down. Even if I use the preset for internet streaming the estimated file size is 140MB, even if I turn the bitrate all the way down, the file size only gets down to about 50MB. How can I replicate the results of using the quicktime preset 'mpeg-4 > streaming medium'... but using compressor, and resulting in a mpeg-2 file?

This is very strange, I'd expect to be mpeg-4 as a dedicated file for internet delivery, or any other QT file
of the similar size.
MPEG-2 is a format for DVD delivery, not for web. No wonder you were not able to bring to file size down, because MPEG-2 is for DVD - thus the best possible quality is needed.
Consult your web master again and then export your FCP sequence (movie) by"Export" then chhose "Using QuickTime conversion".

Its a late response... but if someone gets the same issue here is the solution.
When you register try uppercase password . That should take care of that issue.
The problem is with function module CRM_ISA_IUSER_SWITCH , Note 946536.
Although the note says 5.0 the problem exists with ISA 4.0 too

Use airport for internet and ethernet for local?

Hi. Ive searched around and cant find an answer for this.
I have a 27" imac connected to my router and all works fine for accessing the internet.
I have several other devices close by that I want to connect via ethernet. If i connect the imac to another router via ethernet I can browse my local devices but loose internet connectivity. It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected. I don't want my second router to act as a bridge as it doesn't support N speeds.
Essentially, I want the imac to use airport for internet and the ethernet port for local files.... The only workaround I have is to unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the imac when i want to use the internet. I'm hoping it's just a DNS issue, but cant seem to resolve it.
I do not need internet connectivity for the other devices and don't see how i can do that without enabling the wireless side of my second router and then creating a bridge...
Any suggestions?

It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected.
The Connection Order on your iMac is set so that if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", the iMac will give priority to the Ethernet connection.
If you want to configure your iMac so that it gives priority to an AirPort connection if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", give this a try:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock) and open Network
Click on the small gear icon at the bottom of the connection list on the left
Click on Set Service Order and drag AirPort to the top of the connection order list
Click OK, then click Apply
Now, if both AirPort and Ethernet are active, your iMac will give priority to the AirPort connection. If you want to connect using Ethernet, you will have to turn AirPort off by clicking the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of your computer screen.

I am experiencing problems with one particular web site which uses Flash technology to operate its web site., which is:
gadget-detective.moonfruit.com.
It has been suggested to me that I check I have installed the correct Flash Player for the web browser
I am using which is Internet Explorer 8, that in particular I should check I have not installed in error a Flash Player
for "other browsers". I do not know how to check if the version of Flash Player I have installed is the correct one for
Internet Explorer, but, when I go to the Adobe web site at:

it states that Flash Player is successfully installed.

If the TC is connected to a wireless network provided by another Apple router, then the TC extends the network by default, and the Ethernet ports are enabled on the TC.
If the TC is connected to a third party network wirelessly, then it must have been setup to "join" the wireless network. When the TC is set up this way, the TC becomes a wireless hard drive and nothing more. The Ethernet ports are not enabled when the TC "joins" a wireless network.
So, a logical first troubleshooting step would be to confirm "how" the TC is currently set up. To do that.....assuming that you are using a current or recent version of AirPort Utility on your Mac.......
Open AirPort Utility
Click on the TC icon, then click Edit in the smaller window
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the window
Check the setting for Network Mode and report on that
