Exporting to 640X360 without letterboxing

Hello All,
I would be very grateful if someone could help me with my query. I have a camcorder with both regular and widescreen recording function.
I want to export files in Adobe Premiere Pro (Windows XP) as either a MPEG or WMV with a frame size of 640X360, a rate of 29, and a quality of 90%. It is important that the exported file does not have any black bands either on the horizontal or vertical. The picture must fill the frame. I have been pulling my hair out over how to do this this for days now without success. Any suggestions?
Best
Matt

>either a MPEG or WMV with a frame size of 640X360...
If the height has to be 360 your only option is WMV. For MPEG you can make it either 352 or 368 (divisible by 16).

  • Export in HD 1280x720 16:9 without letterbox

I use a Canon HG20 and want to fit YouTube's widescreen with no letterbox but I can't seem to export in HD without a letterbox. A tutorial video said to use these settings
Key frames - Every 30 frames
    Data rate - Restrict to 1800 kbits/sec
    Dimensions - HD 1280x720 16:9
    Deinterlace source video
This is what I use, but there's a letterbox and there isn't supposed to be. It messes up the dimensions very much. How can I export with no letterbox?

AHA! That would be your problem. The actual clip is 1440x1080, but you were using a 720x480 DV-NTSC sequence. When HD media is placed in a SD sequence, it is scaled down and letterboxes are added.
Here's what you have to do:
    1. Select the sequence in the browser.
    2. Go to +Sequence > Settings > Load Sequence Preset > Apple Intermediate Codec 1440x1080i60+. Select it and click OK.
    3. Now you drag your 1440x1080 footage to the sequence and edit, etc.
    4. Export using the 1280x720 settings described above.
Unless I am very much mistaken, this should fix your problem.

  • Can I export a sequence without rerendering the entire thing again?

    Using the latest FCP..
Im working on a project with some heavy boris effects stuff... SLOW SLOW rendering.. The entire sequence is already rendered.. but when I go to export the sequence as a QT movies.. using the current settings.. it wants to rerender the **** thing.. 4+ hours.. instead of just spitting out a QT built with the ALREADY rendered sequences.. The timeline is 1080i XDCAM. The sequences is only 5 minutes long.. So it should export in a matter of minutes if it didnt want to RERENDER EVERYTHING..
This is killing me right now..
Can I export a sequence without rerendering the entire thing again?

    Joe
Lets start at the bottom and work back ....
What is your target format? You want to export the sequence but for what purpose? Is it for broadcast delivery, for burning to DVD, for web, or ....?
You note that the timeline is 1080i XDCAM ... well that is a native Long GOP format. When you export it as a single self contained clip then all those GOP structures that make up the different elements of your sequenvce must be broken down and re-conformed into a singole semaless GOP structure that describes the whole. Thats why it is re-rendering.
And GOP's are a hog to decode and encode ... thats why you're seeing such SLOW SLOW rendering.
Suggestion number 1) Set your sequence's Render codec to ProRes 422 ... th erender files will be bigger but they rendering itself will be much faster.
Suggestion number 2) If you are not exporting back to XDCAM media specifically then there is no real reason to export your edit as XDCAM HD. Try exporting as ProRes 422 (as per the render setting) ie choose Export > Quicktime Movie w/ Setting: Apple ProRes 422 (+not Current Settings+)
Suggestion number 3) If you are working on a big and powerful mac like the latest and greatest MacPro's, then in future just set your sequence codec to ProRes 422 and edit the XDCAM files directly in that ProRes 422 timeline, when done then Export > Quicktime Movie w/ Current Settings
    Hope thats helpful

  • HD 4:3 without letterbox

I have a canon hv20 camcorder that only records HD video in 16:9.I was wondering if there was any way I could convert those 16:9 files to 4:3 without letterbox and without warping the image,in other words to zoom in to the center thus eliminating the black bars and also some of the image to the right and left.I have Imovie version 5.0.2.I noticed that there was a pan and scan Imovie plugin by Virtix but they don't seem to be selling it anymore.I also tried a plugin called Simple Zoom but that didn't work for some reason.Any help here would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Welcome to the forums.
If you're wanted to crop your video, take a look at MPEG Streamclip. It's not the main purpose for the software, but I've noticed the capability for cropping.

  • Cannot export to movie without media encoder!

Past workflow has involved exporting an avi to a watch folder. With CS4 I cannot export an avi without using the media encoder. I see no problem with using the encoder to do the work, but there are instances when I would want to export "same as source."
    Pre-rendered elements
Export edited segments to other edit suites
Utilize a second computer system to do the encoding
    Use other encoding software
It is much slower to export an avi using the media encoder rather than the export > movie route of the previous cs versions. For example, I edited a 3 minute video on cs4 and it took 11 minutes to export as an avi. It actually took even longer (up to 20) to use encore's transcode settings to encode for dvd.
I ran a test on cs2 with a 30 second spot. It took about 15 seconds to export the avi and another 15 seconds to encode as mpeg2 using a 3rd party encoder.
I have a project coming up that has an extremely tight deadline. I will be editing hour long programs and exporting them for dvd. If I am to use cs4 I will have all kinds of time problems, not to mention I can't do this on multiple computers for processing (1 for editing, 1 for encoding, 1 for authoring). Just to estimate: In CS2 it will take 1 hour to export and encode the video, and up to 7 hours to encode if I were to use cs4.
Are there any solutions to the mandatory media encoder process of cs4?

Media encoder sucks! It's slow and buggy. And it crashes 5 times at 10. The performance of Premiere CS4 on a top notch workstation is 60% slower than working with Premiere Pro 2. Media's batch feature is a failure unlike Premiere 5.5 - 6.0 ver (i think)
    my dear Adobe
Why not try listening to pro users suggesting handy features and instead of getting so anxious eliminating your competitors (FCP) and launching buggy and expensive software? This ain't gonna last for long, you know!
I think if I simulate OS X and run FCP, will work faster than CS4 (have to test it)

  • Why can't i export with OR without taking language into consideration ?

Why can't i export with OR without taking language into consideration ?
I'm from Denmark  and I need it just to convert into TXT with OCR with out looking af the language.

You can't do OCR without knowledge of the language, because a crucial part of OCR is spell checking to test the possible text  extraction. Well, you could try claiming the language is English, but the result may be unhappy.

  • Export without letterbox

I have seen similar questions throughout the discussions, but none of the answers seem to be working...
I am trying to export a quicktime file (H.264 compression) that was shot in 16:9 with an XL2 and I cannot get rid of the letterbox. I have adjusted the "Size..." setting (as the user manual suggests) a bunch of times (720X405, etc...) and still keep getting the letterbox when I view the exported file.
Basically I would like the export to look like the widescreen trailers that you seen on the web (like on apple's trailer site).
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Thank you for youre response.
Does exporting with a letterbox and then cropping later degrade the quality? The only solution I have come up with is to remove the distort attribute under remove attributes for each clip, and then scaling it correctly under the video track of the quicktime export... it just seems like there should be an easier solution. And I am not sure if this method degrades the quality more than it should...

  • Export HD to DVPAL without letterboxing or crop?

I've made a short film on HD 1080 for a festival; now the organisers want me to send them an MPEG-2 DVD quality film or .mov in PAL 720x576...but they've instructed to send in original aspect ratio...not to crop or letter box.
My theory on PAL etc is a little wonky, but is it possible to export from FCE to a DVPAL format, preservinf 16:9 without letterobox? Isn't 720x576 5:4?

Oh and also, I need to have the file less than 100MB. MPEG STreamclip is compressing to DV
pal with right aspect ratio but file size is 229 MB...the limit data rate option is greyed out for DVPAL compressor. What can I do?

  • Is there a way to Export from STP without the timeframe of every track being the same?

I figured out how to export each file as a batch but I cannot get the time endings correct. All of them would be at 5:00 when some end at 3:44 or 2:50 . Is there something I forgot or doing wrong here?

Tanks for the quick replies everyone! I think some of the replies that mis understood my question though. I want to actually send the Imovie file to the person. This is what I am doing
I have 23 clips from different interviews. I want to send a Imovie file to this person so that he can put them in the order he wants the clips to go in, move them around, delete them and so on. I am just using this as a reference for the file. I am working in final cut and I am going to just use what he does in the Imovie file as a guideline of what I will be editing. In final cut you can change what the timeline video format is (jpeg, mp4, etc) so you can share edits and files without sending the full uncompressed video files. This is kinda what I want to do.
    Thanks

  • Export in excel without displaying all rows

    Hello,
    I use OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.1.
I have a report in "table view" with thousands of rows.
I would like to export a report to Excel, without displaying the data. Is possible to set the execution as an export in Excel?
Alternatively I enabled the "Page Control" by 50 "row per page." Is possible to export to excel all the row of the report without to see them all?
    Thanks
    Sara

    Hi Sara,
    you have 2 options:
    1. use ibots to deliver your report in the form of an excel. This would avoid the generation of report.
    2. Use "download to excel" option. This option downloads the entire content and NOT the ones displayed on the screen.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I make hyperlinks work in InCopy when I export to PDF without using InDesign?

I created an InCopy document with hyperlinks linking to other InCopy documents. When I exported to PDF, these hyperlinks don't work. Is there any way I can make these hyperlinks work without using InDesign? Thanks.

Terrible idea. In a JPG the text will not be alive, you loose all interactivity.
And making JPGs with InDesign is not what the program is meant to make.

  • Exporting to PDF without clicking any button

    Hi,
Is there a way we can export the output of the WEB report to PDF without having to hit a button "Export to PDF"?
The moment I open the report, the contents should get exported to PDF in a new window which I can print later.
    Please share your ideas.

  • 16:9 footage showing up and exporting as 4:3 letterboxed

    Greetings,
I am making a making of doc and have a problem which I am sure is simple to figure out, but I think I'm out of practice to see the obvious.
    The footage and formats:
    - Shot and captured in PAL 720x576 (anamorphic checked in file info, shows up as 16:9 in quicktime and finder).
    - conformed timeline to PAL clips.
    - imported .mov film clips 720x576 APRHQ to intercut with my footage (also same specs, different codec) into timeline.
    The problem:
I'm not sure when this happened, but the footage in the canvas began showing up as 4:3, letterbox. It exports the same way. 4:3 letterboxed.
    Attempted solutions:
Checked "Anamorphic" - resulted in 4:3 footage being squeezed into widescreen.
Other long shot ideas, not worth mentioning, just mucking about, hoping something would magically work.
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks,
    M

    Dear Tom and Captain Mench,
I totally see Tom's point. I thought about that too. Captain Mench was on the money. I came across this solution just a few minutes before receiving both of yours life saving advice, but I forgot about the Pasting Attributes option and thought I would need to do it each shot individually. Thanks to you both and thanks for saving me hours worth of work. I cant help but wonder about this anomaly, but can settle for turning in my work and moving on to the next project.
Thanks so much for your advice and help!
    Drinking to your health tonight,

  • Export Dump File without defined VPD policies

    Hi there,
Can some one help me on this problem ?
I've some tables with vpd policies defined on them. When I export these tables the dump file puts some instructions related to these policies such as:
    EXECUTE DBMS_RLS.ADD_GROUPED_POLICY(sys_context('userenv','current_schema'),'"TABLE1"','SYS_DEFAULT','POLICY1','MD','ACESS1','SELECT,UPDATE,DELETE',FALSE,TRUE,TRUE);
Then when I try to import those tables, I'm getting some problems with that if I don't have those policies/functions created (which is the case).
    So,
how can I export tables without those instructions ?
    Or
how can I prevent the execution of those lines during import task ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Helena

In both (export and import) cases the policy could also be disabled for the duration export and import.
