Exporting to broadband extremely slow render

When I'm exporting a sequence to broadband quality it takes over 5 hours to export about an hour of video. How come its taking this long when I can export at full quality in only 12 minutes?

Think about it like this. You have a file that's 100MB, and you want to make another file in another codec that's 100MB. No problem. Simple transcode does it. Now you want to make a file that's 50MB. Takes twice as much work. Twice as much thinking and compression has to go on to reduce the file size. A lot of calculations have to be made to figure out how to throw out the data to make the file smaller. It can't simply trim off the last third of the movie. OK, now you want it to be 12MB. Now does it do that? A lot more thinking has to go into figuring out which bits of information can be thrown away and which can be preserved to make the file that small. The more compression you put into an image the more processing is required, the more calculations in determining pixels, and the more calculations the longer it takes.

  • Very strange : Export from Organizer extremely slow

Today I came something strange while "exporting Files as New File" from the Organizer. I decided to report it, because the observation may point to a potential improvement.
In the Organizer (PSE V7), I went through File--> "Export as New File..." to export approximately 350 Jpeg Photo-Files (around 3 MBeach) to a USB Stick. I was knowing that writing to my USB stick was slow. But the Export Process was much slower than expected. It was ***extremely*** slow and after more than 1/2 hour, only 16% of the Photos had been exported. Also my PC (Windows XP Professional with SP3) was extremely slow in responding.
I therefore diced to kill the PSE Organizer.
Then I decided to 1) export the 350 Jpeg Files first to a Folder on my ***internal*** disk and then 2) to copy with Windows Explorer that Folder to my USB Stick. This was much, much more rapid.
From this experience, I get the impression that the "Export as new File" logic of PSE is doing something very vstrange and very inefficient ...something that could get probably improved.

I may not be having a snow leopard problem at all.
Going back to an old project in 1080i of an 8 minute length. the estimated time to render is about 50 minutes it says @20% of the way thru. Thats about 6x real time.
Maybe thats what I should expect. I was hoping for a significant speed increase in rendering times with the new OS. What is teh factor averaging for other people ?
I am rendering down to 720p multi pass 2320 kbit rate .MP4 in h.264
Maybe I have a settings problem in project properties in my other project.
I also got inspired and moved the render folders to a separate disk from the source files and put the caches on a 3rd drive. my I/O readings now are at 60 reads/sec.
Thanks for helping me work this issue out with you guys. Will keep you posted.

  • Extremely Slow Render Speed - GoPro and Twixtor

    Hello!
I am new to the forums, and slightly new to AE, please don't yell at me if there's a similar thread around, I had a look, but nothing really suited my exact case.
I've shot footage on my GoPro Hero 3+ Black, at 720p, 100fps.
I've applied Twixtor to the individual parts required, the rest is at standard speed.
I come across two main problems, one: The live preview is in really terrible quality, and is practically unusable due to its choppiness and blurriness.
Two, being the render time. I tried a two minute video with about 10 seconds worth of slow mo with Twixtor. This took 9 hours to render to AVI. I tried again with WMV, same deal.
I tried an even shorter clip (just straight 5 seconds of slowmo), this was a shorter render time, but still far too long to be practical.
    I'm using AE CS6, running Win 8.1, 2.4gHZ i5, 8GB DDR3, and a 2GB GForce Graphics card.
I've tried tweaking the preferences for multiple core utilization etc etc, still no bonus.
Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is it always meant to be this slow?
    Cheers,
    Dan

Depending on the settings Twixtor can be extremely slow. If you have a lot of rolling shutter artifacts or motion blur in your original video you can also get terrible artifacts. Here's an important thing. MP rendering most likely will not work with Twixtor or any temporal effects so turn it off. The only way to know if your machine is behaving normally is to look at the shot and do some testing. Some shots just require a lot of tweaking to significantly slow down.
If you shot at 100 fps and you want to playback in slow motion then the easiest way, and the best way to start is to go to Footage Interpretation and set the frame rate of your footage to 29.97 or 24 or what ever your deliverable product will be, then drop the footage in a new comp with the same frame rate. No Twixtor required.
Now if you want to slow things down more or speed them up you are working from a much better place and the whole process will be much easier and faster to render. Twitter will also work better.

  • New broadband extremely slow 0.54mb down, 0.08up

New broadband is extremely slow 0.54mb down, 0.08up - Customer support useless, can't and won't help me.
Firstly they forgot to oorder my homehub, which turned up today, 4 days after the line was connected and after complaining then finding out it was never ordered.
Secondly my broadband connectio is unstable and extreamly slow - Dial up would be faster.
I have contacted BT over the chat, then over the phone. They are useless, didn;t know what the problem was then finally after the chat dropped 5 times told me there was no problem and I could pay to fix it.
I then told the customer service that I would need to esculate the issue if they couldn't fix it and they then told me that they would call me back tomorrow! How is that going to fix the line problem?
Since I have been let down, im not sure what I can do? If BT can't fix the problem Can I cancel the line that was connected on Firday? I can get much better speeds over 3g and I feel I have been missold a 17MB unlimied connection that's not even fast or reliable enough to run the speed tester on.
How can the customer support say that there is no problem when clearly the line dropped several times and the onnection speed is so slow?
    Solved!

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your routerr if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
can you enter your phone number and post results  remember to delete number  https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Extremely slow render and export from FCP

I have a sequence of about 37 minutes in FCP (Studio 2) that i'm trying to export using compressor and its estimating 13 and a half hours. I have tried just a quicktime movie export but its estimating just as long. I changed the compressor settings to a single pass 6.9bit rate. I checked the computer stats at the processor is 84% idle with 5.54gb of unused RAM, surely it should not take that long!
    Anyone any suggestions?
    I'm using a Mac Pro 2 x 2.8ghz Quad-Core Xeon with 8GBRAM

It will take that long if you are going to h.264.
And if you are starting with something like HDV.
What are you starting with and going to?

  • Export from FCE extremely slow after Snow leopard install

Instead of increasing my export times from FCE Snow Leopard has made them slower by a factor of ten. It is taking an hour to convert 3 minutes of 1080i to 720p !!!!! On an 8 core machine !!!
I am exporting 1080i to 720p with a bitrate of about 2000 for uploads to Utube. I tried using QT10 for export but I am not happy with the loss of control over my exports, it does work but not directly from FCE. The process called by QT10 is very fast and uses all 8 cores, but that process is not being called by FCE.
So at this point I wish I had never gone for the upgrade.
Lots of crashes with QT 7 during the open file dialogue and also same problem with MPEGStream Clip crashing on the file open dialogue as well after this OS upgrade

I may not be having a snow leopard problem at all.

  • Export Data- csv Extremely Slow

I am using SQL Developer 1.5.1 Build MAIN-5440 on Mac OS X 10.5.5 and the Export Data=>csv command is taking 20 minutes to show the file dialogue window. The query takes the expected amount of time and once I choose to save the file the remaining records are retrieved and the file is saved quickly. Anyone know of a workaround for this bug?
    Thanks,
    Jason

As discussed above, there is a bug in the SQL Developer export (since the initial 1.0 release from what I have seen) where the query is executed again (just fetching the first 50 records - not all of them) before the export dialog is displayed. This means that if your statement took 10 minutes to query the first 50 records when you first executed it, then it will take another 10 minutes between selecting the export option and the dialog being displayed. If your statement took a second to query the first 50 records, then it will take only another second between selecting the export option and the dialog being displayed.
Ordinarily, I would suggest that you upgrade to the current version (1.5.3) from 1.2, but 1.5.3 has other problems with the export sometimes not working. The export problems in 1.5.3 are not in 1.5.1, but even 1.5.1 has the bug where the export reruns the query before displaying the export dialog.

  • How to fix extremely slow render in AE CS6?

    Hi,
    we've just upgraded from CS4 to CS6.
A composition that used to need 9 minutes to render, needs 2 hours now.
AE is updated and we don´t use the option "Render Multiple Frame Simultaneosly"
We've tried to delete different layers from the composition and the only way to improve rendering time is deleting wiggle expressions. Even if we transform these expressions to keyframes, the render lasts hours.
We need our wiggle expressions, how can we solve this problem?
    Thank you very much!

  • Database export/exports are extremely slow

We run PeopleSoft (PeopleTools version 8.46) applications on Oracle 10g (10.1.0.3). database exports/imports were extremely slow, so when we contact PeopleSoft customer connection, we were advised to modify the init.ora file with the "_optimizer_cost_based_transformation=off". After we set the init.ora file, exports/imports are very fast.
What is optimizercost_based_transformation? will database performance have any effect by setting this parameter? Does anybody has issues with 10g export/import issues?
    any help?
    Thanks,

Here is the extract from PeopleSoft customer connection -
    . Required INIT.ORA Parameters for Oracle 10g
    . Change #1 - optimizercost_based_transformation=off
According to Oracle support: "This parameter controls whether query transformations (sub-query unnesting, complex view merging and push join predicate ) are performed using an algorithm that relies only on optimizer cost (new in 10g) or an algorithm that uses a combination of optimizer cost and heuristics (pre-10g). "
Can anbody tell me how extaclty this parameter will affect the performance of the system? Althoght we didn't see any performance issues right now (We are just in the process of implimentaion) Going forward, i am worried to have this im my init.ora file.
Any thoughts/suggestions related to this topic is helpful.
    THanks,

  • Slow render times with latest update

Since updating to Premiere CC 7.1 I am experiencing extremly slow render speed with Magic Bullet Looks and .Filmconvert pro 2. When hitting enter to render it hangs for aout 10 seconds before starting. Then after each shot has been rendered it hangs again before continuing, What used to take around 20 minutes now takes 2 hours 34 minutes.
Adobe, please can you show me how to roll back to version 7.0.1 as i don't have time to mess about with this.
    OS: Windows 7
GTX 570 with latest driver (331.65)

    Hi captain,
Check out the plug-ins manufacturer's web page and see if there are any updates for your plug-ins.
    Thanks,

  • My final cut is running extremely slow after having for 6 months.  I use external hard drives and save nothing on my computer.  it takes a long time to render now. do you think something is wrong with computer. took it to mac store but they fail to help

my final cut is running extremely slow after having for 6 months.  I use external hard drives and save nothing on my computer.  it takes a long time to render now. do you think something is wrong with computer. took it to mac store but they fail to help me.  I have a 13 inch mac book pro 10.6.8 8gb 2.3 gfz intel core i5

What did Apple tell you about what they did (or did not) find here?
See if working on the main disk is any faster.
USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go.  And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too.  FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro to edit videos export process extremely slow!

    Hello,
I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit videos, and until recently, it’s been working smoothly. The last few times I’ve tried to export, the process has been extremely slow—for example, yesterday the program told me it was going to take 22 hours to export a 527MB video.
My computer has an i7 processor and a decent video card (Radeon HD 7470) so I don’t think that’s the issue, but I can’t see it being the software since I had been successfully exporting videos until recently.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated—thanks!

    Yes

  • RENDER VIDEO is extremely slow

When select File/Render Video the Dialog box is extremely slow. It might take 5+ minutes for the dialog box to appear. When trying to change any settings it might take another 5+ minutes for PS to think. Just spinning cursor and no action.  I checked the task Manager, PS is taking only 10-12% of CPU time and only 274 MB of memory. When working with big PS files it would take all allowable memory: 10GB
    System info:
    Windows 8
    Intel i7 quad CPU
    16GB memory
    PS CC 2014.1
Is there a PS settings/Preferences for Video?

Just joking: PS is trying to make you become aware of something like "Geez, this is no task for PS. Video editing and rendering belongs to After Effects or Premiere. PS is totally overloaded...shutdown...malfunction...help!"
Seriously, depending on what you want to render, you can expect to wait very long. You probably want to render a video of a 3D object rotating, but even AE is better for 3D rendering than Photoshop.

  • Motion 5 shape styles make render extremely slow?

Hi guys, I just wanted to ask about your experience with shape styles in Motion 5.
I'm currently working on a blue screen animation type video. I'm encountering extremely long render times for comparatively short videos and simple animations. When I isolated all the individual elements in my video to see which one is causing these render times, it came down to a bunch of lines which have shape styles applied to it.
The design is basically a relatively simple spider web, made up of 9 individual lines. I applied the "chalk easy" shape style to each of these lines and used a simple animation using "last point offset", just to have the lines come on 0-100%, nothing fancy.
When I remove the shape styles, rendering takes less than 30 seconds, with the shape styles applied it takes 10 minutes or longer.
What I wonder is, do you guys use shape styles? Have you experienced issues like this? Is there a viable alternative to shape styles?
I rarely use them, but it seemed like a good idea here because we're going for a bit of a drawn look, therefore I wanted the lines to look a little irregular without too much effort.
    Cheers

Shape styles fall into the category of replicator/emitter. You are increasing the complexity of the artwork significantly and it will slow down Motion both in playback and rendering (depends on the style and complexity of the style.)

  • Extremely Slow Broadband + No Dial Tone

Hi there, I'm looking for some help.
    Just a few details first.
    BT Total Broadband
    HUB: HomeHub 2.0
    Residing: S66, South Yorkshire
Speed: Up to 20mb (Apparently - normally around 7ish.)
3 machines connected: 2 Wireless Laptops and Ethernet LAN connected PC. Only the PC is currently connected.
So, the problem I'm having is that the Internet, as of around... 2pm yesterday, has been EXTREMELY slow. I've run speed tests, reset the HUB, restarted the HUB, returned to default on the HUB and everything. It's currently running at a seriously reduced rate. Not to mention - for some reason, no matter which socket I plug the Phone in, the landline is completely dead.

    1.3 dBm / 0.5 dBm
As you can see, the upstream and downstream is terribly low. I can't see us being capped because we upgraded the internet not 2 months ago in which we were advised, unlimited broadband - that being said, there is no way we could have broken the fair usage policy as even though there are 3 machines connected some days, the two laptops are used by my girlfriend and her mother, for things like Facebook, not streaming 55 million movies.
That being said, even if we hammered the internet on a minutely basis and DID exceed the fair usage policy - it doesn't explain why the landline is completely dead. Even the phone has no power - which is odd - because none of them do.
There seems to be 3 faults in areas I'm not even sure are close to us - but could that affect us? I'm not sure.
Any assistance with this would be awesome, as it seems the BT Broadband Help system is incredibly useless at best and I have absolutely no way of contacting BT themselves, due to the dead phone and well - I've heard BT have a live chat thing on the website, but finding it seems they LOVE to hide it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

Okay, new turn of events. The phone is apparently working - both my Nan and Girlfriend have called and it's ringing their side, but my phone must be dead. Awesome BT Phones.
Next - looks like we've been capped - not sure how or why, havn't used anywhere near 10GB this month.
