Am I able to export a keynote presentation to flash then add the flash file to my iweb .mac site? Like moving words etc...?

You can export to flash, but getting that file into your iWeb page would require editing the HTML after export.

Or, better than that, export the PDF from InDesign as PDF/X-4!
By default, Acrobat and Reader use overprint preview when displaying PDF/X-4 files. Plus you have the benefit of full color management and not having transparency ruined by premature flattening.
One other note. Other than for the fairly common practice of overprinting black text over colors to avoid halo effects due to registration, one should be exceptionally careful in using overprint. Trapping, the other good, justifiable use for overprint is really best performed by the RIP. Most modern RIPs provide for automatic trapping. Overprint should absolutely not be used as a “poor man's transparency,” especially in conjuction with spot colors. With the advent of real transparency in the Adobe imaging model and hence in Illustrator, InDesign, and PDF, there is no good reason to use overprint hacks anymore to simulate transparency.

No more alpha in exported QuickTime movie from Keynote '09

In Keynote '08, I create a slide with no background (None).
I add some text with some fancy text IN and OUT features.
I export using the Animation codec and the transparency option.
When I reimport the movie in another Keynote '08 file, it inherits the transparency of the imported file and thus everything is perfectly blended.
In Keynote '09 it is not possible anymore.
Even if I import an exported QuickTime movie from Motion with a transparent background, it is not possible to have a perfect blend, all layers are opaque.
Last but not the least, adding transparent files on top of each other in QuickTime player does not preserve transparency despite the fact that the Animation + transparency features are added in the files.

Hey Gary - first off, thanks for your reply! I am currently forcing spotlight to re-index to see if that might help me out. After that I will try your suggestion and run a system software check.
I need a ProRes export as this is going to be combined with IMAG footage from a live presentation as well as additional video from an Arri Alexa. I want to preserve as much quality as possible so that there isn't a discrepancy in the final edit. Originally, I was rendering a small test to the desktop to gauge output quality of animations etc. I did go ahead and re-export a second time to an external drive, but it doesn't seem to matter as Keynote appears to initially render everything to the startup drive no matter what. The second export still ate about 15 gigs from my startup disk and I am unable to find any sort of temp files anywhere!
I am showing all files in Finder and searching around the ~/private/tmp folders to no avail. In the image below there appears to be a discrepancy in the size being reported by finder and the size I'm seeing listed in terminal...

Exporting to flash from FCE

Hi people!
We've recently got FCE in work and we are trying to export to flash files but it tells us we don't have the relevant license. Does anyone know what this means? I've scoured the manual and there's nothing about exporting to Flash ( at least I've not found it!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've only just brought FCE myself but I think that the feature is possibly only available in Final Cut Studio.
I need to save in flash format myself and with a little searching found VisualHub, it is available from the 'Downloads' page on the apple site. From reading the spiel it will convert the file that is created from FCE to any number of formats including .flv
Not sure if it works yet since while I've downloaded the program I haven't actually got a video to try it on right now.
Hope this helps and I'd certainly like to know how you get on since I need to convert to flash myself.
If I'm wrong about the feature only being available in Final Cut Studio I'm sure someone who is more experienced with FCE can point you in the right direction.

Has anyone had any luck exporting to Flash from FC Server?

We haven't been able to get it to work with any of the third party encoders (Telestream, On2, Adobe) for Flash. If anyone has it working we would love to know how you did it!

I've also had no luck exporting to Flash, very frustratingly. In the logs I get an error message:
*ERROR: EMISSINGPARAM*
*Wrapper format missing from destination media format*
I'm not using Episode, just have Flash installed on the server and created a Compressor QuickTime Export Components preset.

In Adobe Premiere Pro, select File/Export/Adobe Media
Encoder. A window will open where you can select the type of media
format you want to output. Under Format, choose Macromedia Flash
Video (flv), choose whether you want to export the entire sequence
or just the work area form your timeline, and for starters, select
a preset. Flash 8 NTSC 400 may work as a starting point. Then under
the "video" tab below, select "Options" button and another settings
window opens. Select "Show Advanced Settings" to tweak any
additional settings such as quality, codec, data rate or resizing
video, etc.
Once your settings are in place hit "OK" and you're done.
Occassionally I like to create small swf movies instead of flvs for
my website or CD. Rather than go into Flash and import the video
clip, I prefer to export an uncompressed avi from Premiere Pro
first. Then I bring it into Sorenson Squeeze for Flash, which lets
me import the full avi and tweak my settings in this program,
including the option to "embed" my flv in an swf or to link it, or
to even add pre-made video controller bars to my video.
For video professionals who do not want to get lost in the
geeky actionscripting of Flash, this is a nice, quick alternative
that produces great results.

How can I export a slide from Keynote to iMovie HD?

I've tried to export a slide with animation into iMovie HD. The settings I'm using are 320x200, frame rate: 30 fps, Progressive, 16x9, Data Rate: Automatic. When I export and import into iMovie Hd the resolution is blurry and grainy.
I initially tried to build a title sequence in Keynote. The title sequense transitioned into a quicktime movie clip, transitioned into a title sequence. The audio portion worked to time but the video output was increased by :30 seconds and was out of sequence. I played with the settings and deleted the preference plist for iWork, but the timing never worked in Keynote.
The timing works in iMovie Hd, but I the titles are grainey and poor resolution.
Any thoughts?

The source is DV 16:9. I've adjusted the resolution to 360:202 and compressed with Sorenson to a QT 512 streaming clip. The resolution is very good and I don't have any issues with the video. I've imported the video clip into Keynote and assembled the title sequence. It looks good with no blurring or choppiness. The problem comes when I export. The timing goes off and the length of the entire video clip is increased. I've also had problems with Keynote when exporting. It seems to be inconsistent and will drop the last title, even though the preview worked fine. I've worked around the problem by importing the title slides with out the transitions and then going into Final Cut. I'd like to keep the title transitions that I had in Keynote . Any thoughts? Exporting as PDF from Keynote type problem

Hi,
I'm trying to export a Keynote presentation as a PDF for a client leave-behind, and the PDF is not showing all fonts correctly. Some slides have simple text boxes that Adobe Reader and Acrobat render as complete gibberish. Other screens have Numbers spreadsheets that I exported successfully as PDFs (that render fine separately), but when the PDF is dropped into a keynote slide and then exported again as a PDF of the whole presentation, they turn into an unreadable mess.
I have seen error messages upon opening the PDF in Acrobat like this:
'Cannot extract the embedded font 'DKUXBZ+MyriadPro-It'. Some characters may not display or print correctly.'
But I don't know what 'DKUXBZ+' means. My Myrad Pro works fine in all my other applications.
Any ideas?

I would guess that you have upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.7. If so there is a bug which affects PostScript OpenType fonts like Myriad Pro Italic.

The solution is to use a different (non-OpenType) font or revert to 10.6.6.

Exporting white boxes from Keynote

Hi all, I've used Keynote before to create 3D graphs and exported them as Quicktime files to be used in video projects. I would then import them into Motion or Final Cut. However, today, all I am getting is white boxes where my graphs should be. I even went back to a previous project that has worked when it was created and now have the same white box results.
Any advice?

I had this problem and after spending 1.5 hours with tech support everyone was stumped... I tried everything including reinstalling os10..
My last resort was the solution. I turned off the dedicated video ram on my mac book pro (energy saver in preferences then click better battery). this turns off the discrete graphics and did the trick for me.

The quality is so poor when I print it, is there a way to get better quality as I export it? I used keynote because I could set up a custom slide size (8x10) and then added the pics and other graphics in hope I could export as a jpeg and get a good quality photo? The photo images and slides are good quality it is the exporting where I am loosing clarity.

Can I use applescript to export a PDF file from keynote?

I use keynote to create documentation. Once complete I export the keynote to a PDF and then package the pdf into an adobe acrobat reader portfolio. I desperately need to script this process. Is it possible to export a PDF from keynote via applescript? The second 1/2 is can I tell acrobat reader to import files into a portfolio. Thanks much for any help.

I believe this is one of the few things Applescript can accomplish with Keynote '09. You can send keyboard short-cuts to Menu Commands in an Applescript – so you can just send a Cmd-P to KN'09. As for setting the Print/PDF options not sure but the dialogue remembers previous settings so you'd only have to set once at most per batch of slideshows. Post on Applescript thread to get specific scripting advice or Applescript developers email list.

Export ok from Keynote 08 but file wint open i PowerPoint 08?

I am having problems after exporting a presentation from Keynote 08 (4.0.3)to a PowerPointfile (Office 08 fully patched). The file exports ok but wont open in PowerPoint?
Its about 50 slides and a mix of pictures and text. Is it possible to run any kind of transformation from older Keynote presentations to newer versions of Keynote.

Gee, an effectively superior Apple product ceases to work on a new version of M$ Offal. Surprise! I suppose the best solution is to just drop back and do all of your presentations in piece-of-cake-PowerPoint 2008. And you might just as well get rid of Pages & Numbers, too since there'll be problems of transfer with those, also. Maybe they'll apply one of the millions of exquisite "patches" that they're so good at. It's all Apple's fault for doing things too well.
Actually, your question was whether one could transfer from older Keynote (version?) to newer (version?) Keynote. Did you mean Keynote to Keynote, or, as an earlier reply mentioned, Keynote to earlier PP? Could you clarify?
Can't you just use your Mac and be done with it? If not, I'd personally just use Office 2001 while gritting my teeth and resist the big MS gorilla.

Error 108 exporting from keynote to quicktime

hi to all, i know this problem is already questioned, but after reading all the posts about it and after have tried all the possible solutions i cannot export my presentation from keynote 5 to quicknote. i still got the same error 108. the first time i've tried everything worked fine with a presentation of 400 slides full of hyperlink and images with the same transistion ( i still had no idea about the bug ). so i need to do one again bigger of 656 slides with hyperlink and images and the transition.so i tried again to export it... then it started troubles. the 108 error was shown to me for the first time. after that i try many times with small groups of slides from my presentation with hyper link and without them, with transitions and without them... and the result was that sometimes i cannot export one slide neither!!!!!!!!!!!!! one slide white, without anything...
please do you have any idea about it? the other way to see my presentation on a pc means a lot of stupid work campared to a apparently simply export from keynote to quick time

Exporting to Flash without embedding music files

I had to create a music player for a website, and really didn't want to make a flash player from scratch again. So I had an epiphany and opened Keynote.
I created a slideshow: the first page was a "Click on song to play" and every page after the first was a song that auto played in the background with a next, previous and home hyperlink on each. Ten minutes later I could export to Flash, open it in Safari, and had a perfectly functional flash music player; 10 points for Apple.
The only problem is that the export embeds the songs into the SWF file, making the file around 16mb. In my current setup for the website, it's not a terrible problem, but I was wondering how I would export the file to Flash (from Keynote still) so that the music loaded externally, and only when the song needed to be loaded.
I could buy a swf>fla converter and change the actionscript, but I figured some genius in the Discussions might have a trick up their sleeve.

Remember, it's 16+ megs, so whip out your Activity window. I also built in a timed auto-tranisition to play the next song. Again, 10 points for Apple.

OK, I'm about at my wits end with this issue and it's only getting worse! Yesterday I did unistalls and reinstalls of both Flash and Captivate and made sure that I the proper Captivate A.S. folders copied to the Flash Classes folder...still no dice.
I then went to IT and asked for a loaner laptop to install both on to see if it might be my PC that's the problem...installed both on the laptop and export the Captivate File to Flash and published it...the audio worked! I was pumped. So went back to my PC and tried again and it didn't work. I then brought the new .FLA over from the laptop and it plays with audio fine on my PC. However the exact same Captivate project exported to Flash on my PC doesn't play the audio. I have a TON of captivate .SWFs that I need to add actions to, so if anyone can offer (even possible) solutions, I'd be grateful! Thanks!

Transfer from keynote to ppt

I received a keynote presentation and would like to tranfer it to powerpoint. Draging from Knote to ppt does not work

OK, ..."export to ppt" from Keynote on my own Mac, ...load that onto a PC, ...fix it on the PC using its version of ppt, ...and standard fonts, ...convert MOV movies to WMV so ppt can use the movies, ...insert the wmv's into ppt on the PC, ...
Assume the City laptop has an older version of ppt so the movies (in wmv) are put into the same folder on the thumb drive, so the City's laptop will link the movies to the ppt presentation? Will the City's PC be able to link the two?
I'm a Mac guy, an architect. I've never looked at Bootcamp, nor at VMWware Fusion. I suppose you're recommending that I get those?
There are some free conversion sites online. I just converted an mov to a wmv using: http://www16.online-convert.com/init-video-conversion , ...unfortunately only the audio came through, in a much smaller file.
ZAMZAR is another conversion site. I tried them yesterday and I think the movie conversion worked, though the ppt work I tried, ...didn't. Must try again, using somebody's PC and ppt, as you say.
This is such an unnecessary trial, ...not to mention waste of time. Twenty hours or more, wasted due to an obsolete City policy. Such dummies down there.
I've used the Office for Mac Suite a bit, mostly Word to open documents sent by others, and was hoping 2011 would "export" to a useful file.
