Exporting to flash/swf, losing drop shadow?

Hi guys, when I add drop shadow to 2d text in AE it looks fine in the RAM preview, but when I export to a SWF object its gone.  I tried both the effect and layer style versions of drop shadow.. not really sure what the difference is anyways.  Any ideas?  Googled a bunch and couldn't find an answer.

We usually need to ask for clarification: how do you know the drop shadow really isn't there? If you're looking at a sample of the clip over black, it might be invisible. But Rick's usually got these things nailed. Drop shaodws from text require AE to create rasterized frames and that will change the processing of the output. As Rick says, it will be much larger because it will be a pixel-based movie of images rather than instructions for vectors.

  • Resizing output when exporting to Flash/SWF

Does anyone know if there is a way to resize the output when exporting a Keynote presentation to Flash/SWF? When you export to QuickTime, you can adjust the output size. I can't find a way to do that when exporting to Flash.

I think that's because the Flash output displays at whatever size you want when you embed it into a website. For example, you can't create a Keynote presentation smaller than 200x200. BUT, if you create at 200x200 and then, in your embed statement, change it to 100x100, then that's how it will display on your web page.

  • Export to flash swf from Slide Show module

If I work on a stunning slide show, with music et al, It would be perfect if I can export to a swf file and put it on a web site or left to clients on a CD.
Otherwise, as is now, I have to work twice: create a slide show and then a web flash site...

There is nothing you are doingt wrong, the web people need to check their Flash stuff, most importantly realyl include al lthe files you provide them with. there's a reason why it spits out 4 files...

  • Photoshop import: losing drop shadow

    hello
I have a layered psd, and the topmost group has a dropshadow applied. I've imported this file into AE and the drop shadow is disappearing every time--I've tried the various methods as well, i.e. composition, footage, merged layers...
    I'm using CS6
    any ideas?
    thanks very much,
    ML

is that to say it's not supported? or is it to say rather, "ugh, importing
psd's, I'm always having to find workarounds"
    thanks

  • Filters not showing up (drop shadows)

    Hi,
I am using drop shadow filters in my flash file and when I
try and print it to flash paper, the drop shadows don't appear....
is there a way to correct this?
    Thanks,
    ~Oni.

have you tried replacing it with the file essbase.bak_startup file, instead of the older essbase.sec file?
If you check your app folders you will still be able to see the cubes you had created its just that Essbase can't pull those up with the older .sec file.
The essbase.bak_startup file is always updated everytime the Essbase server is started up.
Be sure to take a backup of the file before starting up the server again.
The reason your essbase.sec and essbase.bak files are both corrupt is because when you first discovered that the essbase.sec file is corrupt it was when you started the server up.
What you need to keep in mind if the machine which holds the essbase server shuts down abruptly or crashes (which usually leads to the situation you are in) is to never start up the Essbase server right away, as you may have a corrupt essbase.sec file, and if you start up the server without taking a backup of the essbase.bak file you may risk corrupting the essbase.bak file as well.
This is because at start up the essbase.bak file gets replaced with the essbase.sec file.
let me know if this works.

  • Why can't I export to Flash anymore?

I used to be able to export to Flash (swf)....now that I'm using Mountain Lion, that has disappeared in Keynote. Apple really has to stop this stupid feud with Adobe over Flash... get over it already. Flash is out there and needs to be availabe.

Flash export in Keynote was only available with Keynote '08. I keep iWork '08 in a separate folder although I seldom use it.
I think Apple gave up on it because flash wouldn't support the 3D transitions.
There isn't really a feud over flash. Flash is being phased out because the plugin hogs too much processor power and therefore drains the batteries on portable devices fast.
HTML5 playback is now the norm with flash fallback for older browsers. Animations using HTML5, CSS and javascript are the new wave and will eventually replace flash altogether since they play natively in modern browsers without the need for a plugin.
Its not just flash that is fading into history. Apple's QuickTime is dying the same death.

  • InDesign cs6 crashes when exporting objects with drop shadows to interactive PDF

I am using the trial version of InDesign CS6 on a mac OSX 10.7.4  I need to export my document as an interactive PDF. I have found that the export works fine so long as none of the objects within my document have a drop shadow. However, if I add a drop shadow to any object (text, images, or video) InDesign will crash when I try to export. I am adding the drop shadow by selecting the object and then choosing Object > Effects > Drop Shadow. Is there another method I should be using to add the shadow if I want to export to an Interactive PDF?

Hi Peter, thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried creating a new blank project and adding one text object with a drop shadow and then exporting to Interactive PDF, and I experienced  the same result. I tried replacing my preferences as you suggested and found that it did not have any affect.
I continued developing my InDesign document without using any drop shadows and began to experience the same type of crashing under two more circumstances. 1. When relinking assets in my Links panel. 2. When exporting to interactive PDF with interactive objects that are being clipped (I get a warning telling me I have clipped objects before I export; when I click export I experience the same crash.) I have tried exporting the same file to a print (non-interactive) PDF and experienced no crashing.
I thought I should mention that I am using a retina display mac book pro with 16GB RAM. Could my graphics cards or the configureation of my machine be causing my issue?
    Thanks so much,

  • Drop shadow is not exported in pdf when used in a symbol

When I apply the effect "drop shadow" on an object and export to pdf it works fine. When I then convert the object into a symbol and export to pdf, the effect is gone.
Suggestiones other than "don't use symbols" ???

No, I can't reproduce the Preview issue.
Maybe it is caused by other options in your file.
Anyway: Preview is in no way suitable to pre check files for printing.

  • Can comboboxes have drop shadows, and if so, how (Flash Pro)?

    Hi
Is it possible to give the drop down part a drop shadow? At the moment, mine blends a little too much into a datagrid.
    Cheers

You can do it programmatically the same way you would assign a filter to any DisplayObject...
        import flash.filters.DropShadowFilter
        var cbFilter:DropShadowFilter = new DropShadowFilter ();
        cb.filters = [cbFilter];
Another approach sans AS3 for the same effect would be to just place cb inside a MovieClip and apply the filter to the MovieClip thru the properties panel
Though you will find that it only shadows the main element in both of those approaches, not the drop list portion with the shadow.  To add it to the drop list portion you need to target that....
        cb.dropdown.filters = [cbFilter];

  • Fixing Exported PDF documents that do not display drop shadows

Now, what is the solution to this problem?:
iWork Pages: The drop shadows in Pages and Keynote are generated by a component of Mac OS X. When you view iWork-generated PDF files in Preview, you'll see these shadows. However, if you view the PDF with a third-party reader that doesn't use this component, the shadows will be missing.

    Hi sgfoto,
This is not the exact solution but just a trick.
    Try this:
    1. How about open your file and Export into images i.e *.png, or *.tif.
    2. Save into one folder.
    3. Create New file.
    4. Paste all of the image, clue: one image for one page.
    5. Then Export as a *.pdf file.
Hope this may help and give you an idea.

  • No Drop shadow on export

How does this pass R&D Adobe????????
    I have posted this b/4:
Export a sequence to a Quicktime or MP4 file and effects don't end up in the final video clip.
    Mac
    AVC-INTRA sequence
    or
    BMD sequence
Turning off the Max render depth seems to help, but who wants less then full quality?
How can this be acceptable?  Why no patch release fix here?
    It's ridiculous!

Is it correct to assume that you have a Black Magic card on your computer?
Also, can you tell us which OS you have?
Is this for ALL Effects, or just a Drop Shadow?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Export to Quicktime and Flash Fail Slide Dropped

I am using the latest keynote. We wanted to use it to add an audio track to each slide to we could post the presentation on the web using flash or quicktime. I imported the slides from power point presentation my boss has had for awhile.
We successfully added the audio for each slide and are very pleased with it playing the sildeshow with keynote. When we export to flash or quicktime. Keynote has dropped the third slide in the presentation but not the audio that went with it. We are left with an out of sync presentation that is useless to us. There does not seem to any way to edit the audio or drop the slide from the presentation without doing the audio all over again.
From what have read here it seems to be an ongoing problem. Anyone else having the same problem? Any fixes.
    Joe C

    Hi,
my problem is nearly the same: QT Export drops every slide - keeps only the first, second and last slide. Export to flash comes with every slide but looks horrible. Every else export works fine (Web, pdf, etc.) What is it? Any Ideas?

  • Export version 10 SWF file from Flash CC

    Hello,
I am trying to work out how to export a version 10 SWF file from Flash CC. Every media agency I am supplying files to requires version 10 but I can only export a Flash Player 10.3 file which creates a version 12 SWF.
Does anyone have any advice other than buying an odler version of Flash....
    Thanks for your time.
    Keith

you can use flash cs 6.  it's part of your cc subscription.
or you can add fp 10 to flash cc.  here's a walk-through using fp 9: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5511080#5511080

  • Export to Flash CS3, SWFs not editable - HELP!

    On this page (
    http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/integration/flash/)
it says about exporting to Flash, "Each Adobe Captivate slide is
automatically inserted into the Flash Timeline, with objects,
images, audio, and backgrounds on individually labeled layers.
Similarly, the Flash library is automatically updated with folders
containing all the objects created in Adobe Captivate 3."
This is not working for me. Instead I'm getting a bunch of
movie placeholders on my main timeline, with all the Captivate
slides exported as SWF files, and I'm not able to edit anything.
What am I doing wrong? Does this have something to do with
    "full motion"?

  • Drop shadow gone on export

    Sequence avc-intra 720p
Stills moving, some w/ drop shadow.
Export to BMD 10bit mov - no drop shadow
Export to mp4 .h264 - no drop shadow

Are you using Maximum Render Quality in the Export Settings window? If so, try an encode without it. Using MRQ forces 32-bit linear color rendering, which can have some bizarre/unexpected results when it comes to partial transparency, such as with a drop shadow. However, we're told that this is "higher quality" and "more true to light in the real world."
