Exporting to Flickr for Backup from iPhoto '09

I take a lot of photos and I use flickr pro as a way to archive my photos. I have roughly one hundred “sets” which need to be uploaded to flickr but don’t know of any way to do it other than set by set, which is a pain in the butt. Is there anyway to get iPhoto to automatically upload all of my “events” as “sets” on flickr? I have tried some a few third party apps but was rather disappointed by their performance.
iPhoto ’09 does have the option to share photos on flickr, but as soon as the photos are removed my iPhoto library, they are also deleted from flickr.
Thanks for your time I appreciate everyones suggestions!

You'll need a third party app or plug-in to do this. No there's no way to do it automatically. I've used FlickrExport and found it to be good.

  • I want to export a group of photos from iphoto.

I want to export a group of photos from iphoto. I want them to stay in the same order that I put them in. So far when I export, the photos sort according to date or name. I want them to stay in manual sort the way I set them up in the album.
I also want to import them in that order to another program. I am going to try to import them into Final Cut Pro 7. I still want them in the sorted order.
    Can this be done?
    jibetack

So, in other words, it can't be done. Once the photos are exported they lose the order I had them in in iphoto.
    Not at all
typically the easiest way it to export from iPhoto using the sequential file name option and then view in alpha order
    and
What is a better software to organize and sift through photos than iphoto?
None as far as I am concerned - that is strictly a personal decision that you have to make for yourself - Only you know what features you want - no one else does

Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac does not show up in Applications. Tutorial for editing from iPhoto shows selecting the Adobe software in Applications. Am I missing a step in registering product?

I answered my own question: There's a difference between "download' and "install." Hunt for "install" (1.5 hrs in my case) and line up your passwords, Adobe ID, etc, then install. Took 15 min. The right choice shows up in Applications. Now it's on to figuring out why photo selected for edit in iPhoto does not show up on screen in Elements.

  • How do  I export a set of pictures from iPhoto to Photos

My MacBook Pro now has OS X 10.10.3 and the new Photos app.
I have over 30K pictures in the iPhoto app in this laptop, and I do not have the need to sync all of these pictures with all of my iOS devices; I won't be using iCloud.
I was not able to determine if Photos can import sets of pictures from iPhoto; I could have imported all of my pictures from the iPhoto library but did not find out if Photos does have the option to import sets as per user's needs; I saw Photos allow the user to select those he/she wants to import but I don't think I would like to select these one by one from 30K photos.
I will like to transfer sets of these pictures selected by date taken from iPhoto and export them to Photos library I created in an external volume. I need to free some space in my HD.
    Any suggestions?

There is no way to import from an iPhoto Library to a Photos one. You can migrate an entire Library at one time, that's all. Otherwise your choice is to export from iPhoto to the Finder, thereafter import to Photos.

What is the file system on that drive? Is it formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled)?
And what is your iPhoto version? iPhoto 9.5.1?

What exactly happens when you try to drag photos to your drive? Are you dragging from iPhoto's window to the drive?
Can you export your photos, when you select the photos on iPhoto and use the command "File > Export"?

  • I want to export to Flickr as backup and then delete originals

    This is puzzling me.
I'm hoping to backup a bunch of my photos to Flickr, then delete them from Aperture. But after I have exported my photos to Flickr and I try to delete the originals, I get a message asking me if I'm sure I want to move the selected photos to the trash. It further warns me that the versions will be "removed from all Albums, Books... Flickr Albums..." etc.
What is the best process for doing what I am trying to do? This seems very counterintuitive. Thanks.

    Hi Michael,
Imho, what you're proposing is an elegant but flawed solution.  Backing up (or archiving) data must be 100% reliable, and, using the common methods, isn't expensive.  Using Flickr to do two tasks (publish your work on-line, and serve as a back-up copy) is clever, but Flickr is not, in my judgement, 100% reliable.  The gain simply isn't worth the cost -- especially since you already have an excellent back-up system (Time Machine + Aperture Library Vaults).
One of the truism I rely on when decided what to keep and what to toss is, "If it's good enough to show to people, it's worth keeping."  Certainly one should retain much more than a _minimum_ amount.  The second truism I rely on is, "If it's worth keeping, it's worth keeping the entire Image-production-module of the RAW (or camera-made) file and the instructions I labored to create that produce the picture I want from that file."  So my advice is to keep, in Aperture, any Image that is worth putting on Flickr.
The Image is made from two files: the Original, and the Version.  The Version is a text file that is always stored in the Aperture Library package.  The Original is simply the image-format file you imported.  Aperture -- brilliantly -- allows you to store you Originals on any, and as many, directly-attached storage devices as you want, and furthermore allows you to move them whenever you want.
The issue you are dealing with (afaict) is how to _archive_ Images that have been fully developed.  My first question is: why archive them at all?  If your Library is too large, move older Images' Originals to a dedicated external storage device.  If your dedicated external storage device is not big enough, purchase another (data storage is one of the greatest bargains of our time).  If you've moved almost all of your Originals to a dedicated external storage device, and your Library is still too large, move the entire Library to a dedicated, fast, external storage device (today, use USB-3 or Thunderbolt).  If the problem you are trying to solve is one of organization rather than storage, then you'll have to look at your workflow and make improvements.  One of the simplest things to do in your Library is to create a new Folder (call it "Archive" or whatever) and move Projects that contain Images with which you are finished into it.  Use the disclosure triangle to collapse the Folder.  Out of sight, out of mind -- but safely archived and doesn't require any additional effort to be backed up.  If that doesn't fit your workflow, then we need to know more about your workflow in order to suggest improvements.
If you have a set of Images that make up a fully self-contained set and you really want them out of your Library (e.g.: scans for a completed project), export them into their own Library, put that Library with your general documents, and delete the Images from your main Library.
A general (and slightly out-of-date) post about the workflow I use and recommend, is here.

  • How to export images with meta data from iPhoto?

    Hi
I have about 4000 family photos which have been scanned and imported to iPhoto. They are all dated the same day, naturally. I'm now in the process of adding metadata to every photo: location, faces, time and year, file name and description.
Once I have gone through every photo, I will put them into albums based on events and the meta data above.
Eventually, I will want to share all these photos with people who should like to see them (and who are not tech savvy...) I'm looking for the best approach to do to this.
    1. Will all the metadata that I have added remain in the photos when I export them?
    2. What exactly is the best approach to export these 4000 photos?
              - As I have gone through all the hard work of sorting the photos in albums, is it possible to export these photos in the albums that they already in?
I hope to hear from someone out there. Thanks a lot
    Best wishes

You need to have an application like  EXIF Viewer for Mac OS X  to check the files once you've exported them with the various checkboxes checked:

  • Tip for Updating from iPhoto 5 to iPhoto 6

A number of users have reported problems with updating iPhoto 5 to iPhoto 6. With that in mind I'd like to post these tips to help you achieve a smooth transition.
1 - rebuild the library by launching iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
2 - download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
3 - make a temporary backup copy of the iPhoto Library folder.
4 - install iPhoto 6, update to the latest version with Software Updates.
5 - download an manually run the iPhoto 6.0.5 updater (it will only run on iPhoto 6.0.4).
6 - update Quicktime to 7.1.3 if you already haven't.
7 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility.
You are now ready to launch iPhoto 6 for the first time and update your library. Hopefully these pre-update "shenanigans" will help in a smooth transition. Good luck.

No you do not need to worry about that but if want to be one hundred percent sure you should back it up with itunes that way you can be sure nothing will be lost ...
    Heres How to back up
Connect your iOS device to a computer with the latest version of iTunes installed.
Open the iOS device's Summary tab. There are two ways to access this:
Click the device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper right corner. The device button will then be visible.)
From any view in iTunes, click the View menu and select Show Sidebar. Select your iOS device in iTunes under Devices.
Click the Back Up Now button.
To verify that the backup finished successfully, open iTunes Preferences and select the Devices tab. The name of the device will appear along with the date and time the backup was created.
    i hope this helped

  • Export is not for backup..... but...

    Hi everyone!
Just curious to hear different opinions about the subject. I'm seeing a lot of posts that some are using export as a means of backup and as expected, there will always be a reply that export should not be used as a means of backup and that RMAN should be used.
so imagine a scenario where a database has like 5 schemas and that each of those schemas are actually used by 5 different applications. now one user accidentally truncated a table in his own schema and wanted to recover, that means backup has to be restored and recovered up to the point before the "accidental deletion". but a lot of things can be going on for the other schemas at that point too. plus what if the database is quite big which means restoring will actually cause longer downtime.
would it be more practical to just import the dump of that schema alone rather than affecting the other schemas?
again, just wanted to hear your thoughts...
*dont get me wrong, im using RMAN :-)

RMAN is powerful tool that was designed only for backing up and recovering the database
so imagine a scenario where a database has like 5 schemas and that each of those schemas are actually used by 5 different applications. now one user accidentally truncated a table in his own schema and wanted to recover, that means backup has to be restored and recovered up to the point before the "accidental deletion". but a lot of things can be going on for the other schemas at that point too. plus what if the database is quite big which means restoring will actually cause longer downtime. If you Drop a table, a data (not truncate) you can still get it using Flashback feature. But if you truncate the table, you can perform point in time recovery not in the same server, but in the different server , get the table back and copy it to the production
Moreover, if you have Standby database and you haven't shipped the archived redo log file that contains "TRUNCATE" command, you can still get the table back buy opening the Standby database in read only mode and copy the table back to the production database
would it be more practical to just import the dump of that schema alone rather than affecting the other schemas? Imagine you have a database with some TB size and you take dailiy logical backup of all schemas ... Furthemore, you'll not get the latest data back, but take the table to the time when it was exported by missing some data

  • I need a code for backup from oracle forms 10.1.2.3g

Please if any body can help me that what code will I use to get a backup of my db from forms, I am using 10.1.2.3 version of forms with 10g db.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Backing up a database is not the work of an Oracle Forms user. It has to be done by a Database administrator. There are several ways to backup a DB, cold or hot, with export/import, by copying the datafiles, ...
None of this methods have any relation with Oracle Forms, so have to be launched as external programs.
If the client has those utilities installed locally, you should use the Webutil Client_Host() built-in to start them.

  • FOR BACKUP FROM PA TO CUBE IN APO 5.0

    HELLO FRIENDS,
I HAVE A SMALL QUERY ,HOW TO LOAD DATA FROM PA TO CUBE
1.CREATE DATA SOURCE IN PLANNING AREA SECEEN
    2.CREATE INFO PACKAGE
    3.CREATE INFO CUBE
    4. CREATE TRANSFORMATION
    5. DPT DATA TRANSFORMATION PROCESS
THESE STEPS I HAVE CREATED BUT IAM NOT ABLE TO GET THE DATA TO CUBE FOR BACK UP PURPOSE. I AM WRONG PL CORRECT ME ,GIVE ME UR SUGGSIONS.

    Sivaram,
Something I found in a BI thread:
    1. The data flow is from BW to APO, and from APO to BW.
from bw to apo, to feed planning area, characteristic value combination, in APO we have infocube to feed the data, as we know APO has BW inside (all the tcodes RSA1 etc are valid), datamart scenario is used here, we create infocube in APO, update rules, infosource and assign datasource from BW.
The data flow from APO to BW, to get the plan data inputted by user, we generate datasource in APO from planning area (compare with 'generate export datasource' from infocube), transaction /SAPAPO/SDP_EXTR. 'extractor technology' here in practice is just like when we are using datasource
    take a look
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/c9/199170f13711d4b2f20050da385632/frameset.htm
    2. as mentioned in #1, you can use the transaction /SAPAPO//SAPAPO/SDP_EXTR to handle planning area-datasources in APO, or /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN - planning area; choose your planning area, and menu extractor tools (or generate datasources), again datamart scenario is used here, after the datasource generated in APO, it's replicated in BW (APO act as source system), the rest steps are just same as when extract data from other SAP source system
simply what you need to practice is /SAPAPO/SDP_EXTR to 'generate export datasource',
    Check

I believe you need to REPLICATE your data sources after generating them. Have you dione that?
    Hope this helps,

  • Trying to export photos with exposure adjustments from iphoto

I made colour adjustments and exposure changes in iphoto, then exported to the library, for preparation to upload to my preferred photo hosting site, but the exposure and colour changes were not kept after exporting, is there a setting to allow this?

When you export the original you get the original - that is exactly what the camera took, the "original" - so that has no edits or other changes
If you export as a JPEG you get the current version
It may or may not be the same resolution as the original depending on what edits you have done

  • Exporting camera videos to YouTube from iPhoto

So like all modern digital still cameras, mine takes HD video too. And iPhoto downloads both the videos and photos into my iPhoto albums. How can I export the videos directly to YouTube? Is there a YouTube uploader plug-in?
Having to use iMovie is a lot of extra steps.

No there is no YouTube plug-in.
Select the movie in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. Set to *Kind: Oriinal* and export the movie to the desktop. Upload to from there.

  • Can't find the backup from iPhoto library in TM

I had 10.5 Leopard installed, and I seriously screwed it. So I got 10.6 Snow Leopard, formatted the Hard Drive and started it all from scratch.
The thing is, after installing Snow Leopard I got all my files back from TM, except the iPhoto library. I can find it nowhere! And I've looked over the 2 different external hard drives I had used to backup my data. In any of them I find the iPhoto Library under the images folder.
I've got no idea what happened. Why in the world wouldn't TM back up my iPhoto library, once I didn't add it to the list of folders TM wouldn't backup in the Pref Pane?
Does that mean I lost I may pics?

When you launch Time Machine and go back in time to you see the iPhoto library in the pictures folder (default location) before the upgrade? If so select it and click restore to bring it back
